If you’re ever unsure whether or not you’re living, read a TA book. The way this woman will have your heart beating like an African drum ceremony will remove any doubt that you exist!! 😩😩😩 “Needful Noor” did not present the usual high stress and high anxiety read that I’m accustomed to when diving into her world but book one definitely took my emotions on the ride of their lives.

Noor went through A LOT!! Her childhood trauma had her in constant survival mode and she was willing to do anything to keep her head above water. Noor could have never imagined how her life would evolve after a job offer put her in rooms and places she could only dream of! I loved how even when given the opportunity to elevate her circumstances, she still remained down to earth! The Hill household changed her in ways she could have never imagined and I can’t wait to see how things conclude in book two.

Noor was such a loveable character because when she was in her element, she was a whole vibe. Even when you wanted to hate her and call her every harlot and jezebel you could muster up, you couldn’t help but extend grace because let’s face it, we all know what it was and what it wasn’t!

Now I don’t condone some of her behavior and in real life it would be on sight if I was Em but in the fictitious land of TA she kinda sorta gets a pass because like I said, we all know what it was and what it wasn’t.

▫️Noor’s relationship with the kids, everything!
▫️Turning down a 6 figure shopping trip for Target and the Cheesecake Factory, spirit animal!
▫️Pouring into others even when she found herself empty, not suggesting this be done but again, everything!

Noor is a fighter and I want her to win more than anything! And no Dorian is not included in this review because this is the Needy show! 😏

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Needful Noor I & II

I did not see that twist coming AT ALL! When Roz starting putting 2 and 2 together i had to stop and stare into space because i just did not expect it 🤯

The whole book i was team Noor! In my head i was like i probably shouldn’t be rooting for Noor and Dorian as it was definitely an affair while his wife was still alive and suffering, but i really did just love how he reassured Noor that her past doesn’t and shouldn’t dictate her future BUT I GOT, GOT. Because Noor is a manipulative, conniving, dutty, stinkin (sorry, the Jamaican in me popped out) little *****.

I really loved that there was more than one representation of love. Dorian’s first marriage with Emmelyn was one built of respect, admiration, and potential and i feel like there isn’t anything wrong with that. Some people need that to get to the next phase of their life.

My only gripes with the books was the narrators description of Dorian’s sister. Like every once in awhile she would make reference to the fact that Dynette was a bigger girl (although Noor definitely had an eating disorder and body image issues) it was just weird to project those issues onto another character that didn’t seem to have them.

Overall, i really enjoyed this book and I’m still thinking about Noor and how i didn’t see it coming. I keep looking back and realized i clocked that her aunt never really got into an accident but my mind didn’t hold on to that fact while i was reading. Also, i felt like the book just ended out of nowhere and I was left with a few questions.

Mega Novel Indeed! Still shaking my head at this heart breaking story!

What these cruel and heartless grown folks did to this innocent young girl was criminal. Betrayal, assault, deceit, out and out cruelty, and her disgusting mother is the worst of them all. Hopefully, there's a special place, in HELL, for her, along with all the selfish men who took advantage of a young girl who couldn't fight back.

Poor Noor's memories are deeply disturbing nightmares that convinced her it was her fault for being weak. But she was strong because she kept hoping that the next day would bring the kind of life she wanted so badly. Anyone else would have ended that nightmare Noor was living long ago.

Revenge is the LORD's but some of these sleazy creeps need a little taste like yesterday!!!!

noor getting cussed tf out and then kicked tf out was so satisfying for me. sorry not sorry. i don’t like her. she’s a psycho who is obsessed with someone else’s husband. i felt bad for dorian but also, fuck him too because your wife is dying and your fucking another bitch in her house. it’s obvious he is miserable and extremely unhappy but like…YOUR WIFE IS BEDRIDDEN. anyway, i will not be reading part two because i am through with these people. i didn’t like any of them but the kids lol

Oh, Ms. Noor.

Right off the bat, I felt for Noor. I resonated with Noor.

I’m sorry im Team Noor. I just want her to win. She’s been through hell in life. She’s had a hard life literally from the moment she was born. Passed around. Slaved around. Slept around. My lord. Noor. 🥹

Dorian. The savior. Her savior. But he has Em. But does Em have him?

I think we forget that these are books. These aren’t real people. This is not reality. And that is why i am team Noor. Idc!!

This book may test others morals but baby it is what it is! I like Noor Ebanks!

She’s done it again. Great story teller. Her story mirrors real life experiences and you feel so much for the characters. Noors life with her mom and aunt was disappointing. Selfish adults.

Hopefully she will find what she is looking for. She is in a dangerous situation. Her trauma is still with her and she is still experiencing new trauma she doesn’t see herself as a victim.

Just wow!!!

It's rare that don't know how to feel about a character. I want Noor to win in life but not at the expense of others. She has been through so much and deserves to come out on top. The emotional turmoil in this book has me at the edge.

I was conflicted as I was reading this book. On one hand I empathized with Noor and all the things she said she went through as a child so I wanted her to overcome and find someone to truly love her. Then on the other hand once she found our who Dorian was, I felt like she was being a little too friendly with him knowing that she was supposed to be taking care of his sick wife and that was all.
However, I did like the friendships that she formed with the kids and kind of stepped in when Emmerlyn couldn't. Now Dorian I liked him but I didn't. He was a good father to his kids and did good things for the less fortunate people in NY; however, the way he acted with Noor with his sick wife in the same house was like whoa. Also, when he admitted that he kind of used Noor too the way she was used in the past was a side-eyeing moment. Since she was so infatuated with the thought of him paying her attention she allowed him to do so and didn't even realize it or didn't seem to care. That being said, as much as I didn't like how Dorian and Noor were moving, I did see they cared for each other and she brought out a different, lighter side to him. With the way this book ended I am curious to see where this is going to go. On to the Conclusion.

Noor x Dorian x Emmelyn

I have been slowly making my way through Takerra’s catalog and she continues to blow my mind! She is officially one of my favs!!!!

I had no idea what to be expect with this book, but she left me shocked, surprised and thoroughly entertained. The way she develops her characters will leave you feeling like you know them personally. She has you feeling their pain, their struggles as well as their wins. Noor was a beautiful, broken, misunderstood soul. She endured so many trials and so many hardships, but she was still a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air. Even when she was wrong as two left shoes, I still found myself rooting for her.

This was an immersive reading experience and my first time enjoying Tony Isabella’s narration skills (ain’t nobody told me nothing!). Tony and Trei brought the characters to life and made me fall in love with them even more!

Let me just say I devoured this book in one day. Didn't get a thing done at work. Ignored all my meetings. Barely even listened when people had convos with me. I couldn't put this book down. It's something about how Takerra writes that draws me in and doesn't let go. Part II of the audiobook doesn't come out until May 14th. I can't wait that long so I'll be reading the second book on kindle. I've got to know how all of this ends. I have a suspicion that something aint right after that last convo between Em and Noor and what happens next. Too much of a coincidence. I hope I'm wrong. Can't wait to see.

I know this is a good story because I can't make myself hate Noor. Like I hate what she's doing but I can't hate this chick and that's crazy bc usually I'd be dragging her. All of the characters are beautifully flawed and so well written. I might have to take off work tomorrow so I can see how the story ends. If you have the time, do yourself a favor and please check out this book.

Okay…. So, this is a lot to unpack 😂

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I didn’t think I’d like this book originally 40ish pages in but after that, things really started to kick off for me.

Noor the FMC was a lot. She had a story and seemed like a lost soul. I was waiting for a scene where she saw a therapist or something for her unresolved trauma, because she really needed that closure. It felt like she was making the same mistakes and never learning from her past experiences. Dorian was also in the wrong. Your wife is terminally ill and you’re messing around with the NURSE. Cmon now.

Despite how unethical their behavior was, I was pulled into the storyline and wanted to see it through.

Takerra Allen will really play in your face

Whole time, I am up here overly sympathizing with this girl, not even realizing she getting me too with her conniving sneaky ass.

Don’t even get me started on Dorian. Hot and cold, playing with fire to the point of getting burned but not caring. Just like a man. I wanna say they deserve each other but they really don’t 😂😂

If I was Em I would have mustered up every bit of strength and whooped everyone’s ass.

I gotta go right into book two because Noor got some explaining and redeeming to do.

Per the usual, Takerra Allen is presenting the reader with a well developed and nuanced book. I have so many thoughts on this one. TA does an excellent job of making you think and writing thought provoking stories.

Excited to read part 2 and continue Noor’s story. All I want is the best for Noor. Our girl has been through more than enough.

HOT AND HEAVY BABY! Whew the angst just about took me out! My feelings are so conflicted rn. I don’t know if I should hate or pity Noor. I’m interested to see how this evolves. Her whole is imploding and she’s right at the center of it all. Is Noor naive or an opportunist…I’m still unsure?

Needy for part two

Marriage is a partnership and often as women we like to be seen as our partner’s equal. In my opinion Emmalyn viewed herself as Dorian’s equal (as she should). She helped turn him from a street king to a corporate king. Emmalyn had this boss chick mentality that I feel like ultimately backfired on her.

Noor swooped in with her nurturing nature. Not only did she nurture Emmalyn she also befriended Carmen and became a listening ear for Dorian. Some may say Noor’s pretty face and heavenly scent was what captured Dorian and while that maybe why he was initially attracted to her I believe it was her docile nature that he was drawn to. A lot of men like to feel needed and Noor lived up to the books title she was needful. Being from the streets Dorian had a savior complex when it came to people with similar backgrounds. Once he learned more and more about Noor’s unfavorable past he fell for her more and more.

As a reader I’m rooting for Noor to have her happy ending and I excited to crack open part two. Nevertheless, I hate that her win may come from swooping in on another woman’s man. Especially since Emmalyn is practically bedridden and can’t do anything to stop it.

It is a really good book….

However, I got SO tired of hearing Noor’s same story. Blah blah blah… Yes she had it harder than most. And it’s truly devastating. But to come into a woman’s home and willingly fall for her husband and creep around, in and out. He’s the “savior” and he’s married. They said vows under GOD. Doesn’t that count?? This generation is not made of the cloth anymore. The woman may be sick and delulu but she knows what’s going on in her CASTLE 🏰 And Dorian knew he already messed up before and to do it with his wife upstairs sick in bed…KARMA 💨💨💨
Sad story to see his wife go through this and have a young beautiful nurse take care of her. However, she choose her and knew it was a possibility that someone would “fall” for her…
I will read the next installment, because I know what’s going to happen, I think…Happy reading 📚

Wooooooo! This book here. This book was a challenging read for me to get through. I love me some Takerra Allen books, but I struggled with this one.

It was a well-written story. It had great character development. So much so, that I started the book having so much empathetic feelings for Noor Ebanks. Until I didn’t. I 👏🏽 do 👏🏽 not 👏🏽 respect 👏🏽 Noor 👏🏽 Ebanks 👏🏽! I don’t care how horrible of an upbringing and childhood she had (and she had a TERRIBLE upbringing that I wouldn’t wish on anyone); none of it excuses her intentionally pursuing a married man. Period.

And that storyline is what made this book challenging for me. I’m a loyal and monogamy-minded individual so I haaaated reading the development between Noor and Dorian Hill. Ironically, I should be disgusted with Dorian’s cheating a$$ too (and I am, to a degree), but, his involvement with Noor didn’t feel as intentional as Noor’s pursuit of Dorian. She knew exactly what she was doing. And she is now on my shortlist of book characters I don’t fawk wit. 😒

Emmelyn Hill wasn’t without flaws and she could do good with making some personality changes; but, at the end of the day, she is Dorian’s wife and did not do anything to Noor to earn the level of disrespect given. Dorian needs to figure out his stuff and how to cope with his stressors without stepping outside of his marriage and disrespecting his wife and kids.

Can y’all tell this book has me triggered?!?! 😂🤷🏽‍♀️

Let’s see if Takerra does what she does best and convinces me to have a change of heart and like this girl in book two. Cause at this stage, Noor’s disrespectful a$$ deserves some karma. Yea, I am all out of grace for Noor.

That ending was 🤯!!!

Em with that epic read!!!! She read Noor so damn good evening Noor had to take a step back, and Noor deserved it all and some. Because let’s be clear what Noor is doing is flat out fucked up, I almost missed it but Noor has a plan. The way she moving after Tiffany was introduced had me lookin at her real crazy!!

Now don’t get my wrong Noor had a terrible upbringing none of the adults in her life were any good to her and good for her ( even her aunt there was some trauma and other issues she was dealing with even if we didn’t get to deep in the Aunts life), they all just about forgot about her and let her fend for herself even before she was on the streets.

Dorian is just… I can’t figure him out he seems to check all the boxes off but there are a few things off about his character and I guess we’ll see more of it in the next book. Now I will say this Dorian needs Em and I’m pretty sure he’ll realize it when it’s too late.

All and all this book was amazing, this is my first read by Takerra Allen and I’m happy to so I’ll definitely be reading more of her work

The Secrets Behind These Walls

Prague has really set some mess in motion!!!…I don’t know if he’s angry that he thinks Dorian is sleeping with Noor or if he’s upset that Dorian stood on business about Prague not being able to sl*t Noor out!!!…
Noor’s boyfriend definitely did her dirty and I believe it’s because he knew he was losing his grip on her!!!…He mistook his ctrl over her for love for her!!!…He knew her story and had not qualms about throwing it in her face!!!…I love that Dorian gave her back the money her boyfriend took from her!!!…I hope that boyfriend gets everything her has coming!!!It’s crazy that he even thinks Noor wants him, when she said he creeps her!!!…
I truly enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to seeing what else is the come for Noor!!!…
This book written so well and it draws you in from the very beginning!!!…
Emm said she’s laying down the law in her house and she doesn’t care who likes it!!!…
Dorian seems to be still on his marriage out of obligation and his sister dropped all the gems for him, because he’s stressed, but more open since Noor has been coming around!!!…

Conflicting Emotions

Wheww Takerra knows how to tell a damn story! Everybody wants to hate on Noor but my gripe is with Emmelyn. There’s no way in hell you’re telling me that Emmelyn did not hire Noor intentionally… like she had to have subconsciously hired her knowing that Dorian would like her!! She just had too! Because there’s no way you hire this PYT and have him parading around yah husband! Idc how “secure” you think you are! I really feel that she low-key knows she might die and didn’t want to leave Dorian by himself. And I just loveee me some Noor! She’s definitely made some questionable decisions but do you blame her?! Ughh definitely doesn’t make it right though but I have a soft spot for the girl… I see myself in her. But I hope to God Dorian & Noor have some type of decorum and don’t officially get together before Em dies. Because Em has to die for this to work, she has to! And I love Em too and everything she said to Noor in that last chapter was right! Like how dare you Noor!? The whole thing is soo complicated 😩

In this awesome creation penned by @bytakerraallen, we meet Noir, a young woman who has suffered a traumatic childhood. Abuse, neglect, homelessness…just to name a few, are all struggles that she had to face before moving to New Jersey. Here she lands her dream job and enters the lives of Dorian and Enmelyn Hill, along with their three children.

There are many conflicting feelings about these characters. Some blame Noor for her betrayal of Emmelyn, while others blame Dorian, because he allowed it to happen. My thoughts are this…it takes two to tango. The author weaved such a beautiful story, that at times you don’t even see the error of their ways. THIS is a literary piece!

I’m looking forward to reading the conclusion and see how it all plays out.
