Bill McGee, former CIA Director and U.S. Navy SEAL Commander, is America’s most decorated military man and is the presidential candidate to beat. But an unlikely saboteur promises to stop Republicans from ever attaining the White House again.
When an Air Force pilot enroute to Japan defects with an F-22 Raptor, it is a national crisis. The intelligence community confirms the jet sits in a North Korean bunker waiting for Russian or Chinese engineers to take it apart.
The President is confident CIA pilot Duncan “Maverick” Hunter is the only chance to prevent the enemy from unlocking the secrets of the greatest stealth fighter ever built and bring the jet home.
Will Hunter be able to rescue the stolen jet and prevent the domestic terrorists in America from destroying McGee’s path to the White House?
This was the first book, in a long time, that I was not able to finish. The pace of the book drags. The characters are unlikable, and the story jumps around way too much to be able to gain any traction or investment. I found it well researched at times, but some faults can’t be overlooked either. Calling them the “Red socks” instead of the Red Sox was bad but misdating the first terrorist attack on the WTC as taking place in 1994 when it took place in 1993 was worse.
I really wanted to like this book, the synopsis made a great sell of it, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be.
This is an intriguing series of fiction with many truths weaved into the stories (even though some have fictional timelines or other fictional details added). It's a fantastic thriller series that has terrific characters, lots of humor, drama, mystery, suspense, and unexpected twists and turns that will hook you from beginning to end. I have to be honest, I typically don't like to read anything that involves politics of any kind (there's enough garbage in the world, IMHO!), but once I began reading the first book in the series, I just couldn't stop. Lol! Even though there are several political aspects in each book, there are many other things that are happening in the story that it doesn't get bogged down because of those. I really enjoy reading about Duncan Hunter's character, his life, but especially his outrageous adventures that most people wouldn't even consider. I love the close knit group that he has surrounded himself with, how they all bring their own something special to the group, as well as how they will all do anything to help one another and others. IF ONLY there were more true Patriots like these characters in this fantastic series. I really hope that there will be many more stories in this series in the near future! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Brilliant, I loved it. I could tell by reading the blurb that I was going to enjoy this book, and I wasn’t disappointed. Mark A. Hewitt has done a marvellous job with this action thriller, as he has with the other novels in this series. Duncan Hunter and Bill McGee are both great characters. Duncan gets himself into some tight situations, however he has the skill set to handle just about anything. The Author’s writing has really brought this story alive, and it’s certainly a book that I would strongly recommend. Well worth a read. 5/5 Star Rating
I have just finished the entire series about Duncan Hunter. I enjoy books with lots or action in various localities so this was perfect for me. Mark A. Hewitt skillfully weaves historical and present events, a wide range of aviation history, and villainous characters. Duncan Hunter is the main character. He is brilliant and frequently thinks outside the box which allows him to see what needs to be done before others and there is always something to be done. I enjoyed the series. Maybe you will, too!
Child Abuse and Trafficking This book is the 8th in a series which should be read in order. This episode deals with child abuse and child sex trafficking. It was more than I could stand. There are some good action parts, but they do not make up for the gore and violence in other parts of the book. It makes a decent ending to the series, or a good place to start a new story arc. At any rate, I will not be reading any more of this series. Yes, it did give me nightmares and turn my stomach. I am done.
Midnight Ops was a very good, interesting, compelling book...although the author was quite redundant about repeating things he already said multiple time from someone else's viewpoint. The ARC will hopefully be trimmed down when edited and I highly recommend reading this book. Good cast of characters and some good action scenes. Thanks to Black Rose Writing, NetGalley, and Mark A. Hewitt for the ARC of the book.
This is a series the last of which is MidNight Ops. This is the very best series of books that I have read in years. Extremely topical and most definitely laced with strong Republican thoughts and rhetoric. Patriotic to say the very least and strongly in favor of the US of A and our military. Amazingly this series also offer one of the best action adventure thrillers I have ever read. It never gets dull and is highly informative. Thank you, Mark Hewitt, for s truly exceptional read.
The author has done it again with so many plots and subplots intertwined, with past and present mixed together, and with military, technology, and politics, there's bound to be something for everyone. I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.
What a story! I couldn’t put it down. It s like something that could really be happening in our world. Politics, action and our heroes are back! Bouncing around the world, like ghosts doing what must be done to save us from ourselves! I couldn’t put it down. If you read one book this year make it this one!
Blending history with today’s state of affairs explains how America can be defined as WOKE. When Kruschev said we would be defeated from within, no one at the time could believe it. It’s sad too many Americans don’t see it, but I’m grateful for our patriots that do.
If you look at the past, examine the present, you'll be shocked to learn what the left has done to destroy America. Please share this author with your friends, but more importantly with your progressive friends if they still believe in the United States of America
Started out with a,very confusing introduction. Kept reading as this is a Duncan Hunter book. Yup, got better and finally made sense. Some parts seemed , hurried, but ok. Enjoyed this long book but it was confusing at,times but then answered later in bok. Some "gee wiz" stuff but it is a book!
I have journied through the Duncan Hunter series from the beginning. The most intriguing, insightful, exciting travels in the geo political landscape and justice. By far the best book series and details written I have experienced. I can't wait for the next book. Thank you.
Thank you to author Mark A Hewitt for this FREE Kindle copy of Midnight Ops.
I liked it. Well written with some good characters running amok around the world. Pretty good editing, with a nicely done cover design. I do think the book was a bit long, but did keep my interest throughout. A peppering of obscure words, not even found in the Kindle dictionary! All-in-all, a good read.
This author is angry! That's OK with me, because I am angry too. Fast paced. I wish I could believe the entirety of what happens in the book. Not sure how much is true, but I wish it all were.
Thank you Mark Hewitt. Another amazing political novel. The scary part is how correct you might be. Duncan Hunter series is just one wild ride with enough current news that makes it all seem true. Thank you for the many hours of enjoyment I have received these last 8 books.
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
This was an excellent series. May be fiction to get it published; but having retired from Military service and being around awhile; we need to fight for our freedom against foreign and DOMESTIC enemies.
With an almost current event vibe that could have been ripped from headlines - but then again, the headlines and news coverage by MSM in reality are lacking. Even a half-smart country girl can see through the cnap.
Thia is not over. PLease have a book 9! Your writing is wonderful. I’m making a list of words I don’t know for my granddaughter to define and learn for her SAT’s.
