Professor Ewe is an Einstein-like female sheep who shares just as much excitement for the intricacies of the human body as she does for the art of teaching science. Enjoy a laugh-out-loud exploration that will leave you and your child in fits of laughter, as Professor Ewe delves into some of the quirkiest things our bodies do - from flatulence to earwax to urine - and a whole lot of other icky stuff in between. Kids will learn how the grossest things we snicker at are actually incredible marvels of nature that help them stay healthy and strong. And be sure to look closely at the illustrations – there are delightful and humorous treasures on every spread, skillfully crafted by the talented Janne Maru, Illustrator. "It's Not EWWWW...it's YOU" is a side-splitting invitation to share a good laugh, while delivering a focused and engaging bite-sized STEM-based lesson in preschool biology.

It's Not Ewwww… It’s You! Is also a wonderfully informative book! This one tells kids all about their gross bodily functions, but in a fun, and educational way. Most kids love icky stuff, so this will go down a treat for and child! Plus it tells them exactly why these body parts function the way they do.

This book is cute and very cleverly narrated. The author uses language that translates well to tiny humans and peaks their interest in all the "gross" stinky, slimy bodily functions we all experience. This would be a great book to use in a Storytime about bodies, I can see littles giggling their way through this read. Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for access to this ebook.

The book IT'S NOT EWWW.... IT'S YOU by Sharon Leya explores our bodies' gross bodily functions. Illustrations are by Janne Maru. Children giggle as they discover all the gross things their bodies can do. Most would say "EWWWW!" "It's not EWWWW! ....It's YOU!" Children will learn about saliva, poop, ear wax, gas, urine, mucus, sweat, and blood in this book. The drips, the spews, and everything in between! Join Professor Ewe as she explains how their bodies and systems work.

"They might be somewhat log-like and can be super smelly, too. But POOP clears out your body's waste! It's not EWWWW! ....It's YOU!"

"Deep in the canals inside your ears is some sticky, tacky good. Earwax keeps germs from getting inside. It's not EWWWW! ....It's YOU!"

At the end of the book, Prof. Ewe elaborates on the importance of each bodily fluid or gas. Alan O. Feingold, MD authored this discussion guide.

Urine - "Pee, or urine, is made in your kidneys. Kidneys act like a water filter by cleaning out toxins in your blood and mixing them with water. That liquid is urine. Urine then flows to your bladder, where it stays until you go to the bathroom."

In addition to being funny, this book is also educational. I find the illustrations to be hilarious. For emphasis, some words in the text are larger, colored, bolded, and angled. I would recommend IT'S NOT EWWW.... IT'S YOU.

It’s Not EWWW… It’s You! by Sharon Leya

K-2 | PDHPE | Human Body

Summary: This picture book explores the “gross” human bodily fluids that help our body to function. Professor Ewe the adorable sheep teaches children to marvel at our incredible bodies.

Illustrations: The illustrations were well designed and eye-catchy for children to look at.

Appropriate for: K-2 (NSW Australian Primary School children). The vocabulary that students will learn is fundamental for these students to learn. I do believe you will need to read this to the right group of students as it is funny, but the vocabulary of (urine and poop) could cause an out-of control situation.

Review: I think this would be a great book to use as an introduction to the human body. I like the vocabulary as it is scientific. I do think it needs to read to the right group of students. The last page of additional information is also fantastic for those students who like to learn at a deeper level.

4/5

I loved this book! The illustrations are cute and whimsical. And the story was funny as well as educational. I especially had a blast with the topic of gas. The sound effects alone made me laugh out loud.

It's Not Ewwww...It's YOU will make a great addition to a child's library. Parents as well grandparents alike will enjoy the educational humor. Five stars.

I received a DRC from BooksGoSocial through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

This book explains what purpose each gross body function has. Poop, farts, saliva, mucus even ear wax. The story is a super easy read at the beginning and becomes more technical towards the end. I think some of the technical could have been added into the initial story, but on the other hand if you find that all too boring you can just skip it since it's at the end of the book. Illustrations are bright and cheerful. I can't wait to share this book with my son and grandson. Thanks Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read this one.

I thought that this book was excellent!

It is pitched just right for the age group and I can see it being a huge hit as to be honest, you will be hard pushed to find a kid that isn't interested in the gross things!

The book is well laid out, I loved the illustrations, it is bright, clear, easy to follow and informative - I loved the facts and as a parent I love this kind of book that teaches about the topics in a different way

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!

This children’s book was just OK. I’d say it’s definitely for younger kids because it is very basic info about our bodies and the various substances they produce. I think older kids (older then 9) wouldn’t need the info presented in quite such simple terms. But it was very funny, boys will definitely love this.

The artwork was very good.

Thanks to the author and publisher for the e-arc I received via NetGalley.

What's not to love about this little picture book? It's cute, the language is clever (and rhymes!), and it makes science easy. Most importantly, it's about gross stuff. I never met a kid who didn't enjoy talking about gross stuff, and this book goes through several parts of your body to talk about the gross stuff and how it's just natural.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

So cute and such a great lesson!

Loved the rhymes and illustrations but the overall theme is my favorite part! It's so important that young kids don't feel ashamed of their bodily functions and this book really gets that point across so well! Love it!

The highlight of this book in my opinion is the charming illustrations and artwork! It is a great expression of positivity surrounding your body, and uncovering the mysteries of the body. I would gladly incorporate this into my preschool "all about me" curriculum.

This book is fun and it’s about the gross substances in one’s body. The illustrations are fun, but I do wish the cover was punched up a little bit more. This book is interesting entertaining and kids will really like it, but without a more engrossing cover kids will never pick it up.

This was a cute story. It was a fun way to show that our bodies aren’t always warm and fuzzy but sometimes are gross! But our bodies are still amazing in the things they can do.

A novel and child friendly way of looking at the human body. My grandson loved it, my granddaughter not so much. Illustrations are cute and informative and a novel way of explaining bodily smells and functions.

Sharon Leya tackles the subject of our natural bodily functions with a sense of humor that kids can truly enjoy, without going overboard with the subject. It was a pleasure to go through this book and see how many others got so many positive reactions from their audiences. To be able to captivate an audience while teaching them valuable information and let them know it's ok to be themselves is a feat the author accomplishes with ease and a great deal of fun.

I would absolutely to recommend this to any parent, teacher, or public library as an engaging, informative, and entertaining boost of good spirits.

Hats off to Sharon Leya as well for her inspirational body of work. She is doing wonderful things with her writing! Sharon Leya

So cute and engaging for littles

This is the sweetest little kids book to help explain bodily functions in a shame-busting manner. I was raised by a mom who insisted that I use the scientific names for every body part (I’m talking gluetus maximus in our house, not butts about it!). That was a bit extreme, but this book is a catchy rhyming story that informs the youngest readers or pre-readers that seemingly gross parts of our body are actually amazing and quite purposeful! The pictures are so cute and I can’t wait to get the hardcopy so my toddler can fully enjoy this book!

This is a delightful children's book which helps explain bodily functions in a simple way. I'm an adult with three grandsons. I think the youngest grandson (six years old) would enjoy it. I chuckled my way through it. I wish I had this book when my daughter was young.
