Title: Two To Tango
Series: No.
Author: Mimi Strong
Release Date: 10th January, 2014
Rating: 2. 5 stars
Cliffhanger: No.
HEA:

While Two To Tango holds a definite spark that made me go on, I wasn’t swept of my feet nor did I feel pleased with the story. I guess, for the most part, I could close my eyes and forget about few issues I had, but there were way to many times that made me shake my head and almost laugh at how hysterical and over the top some scenes where.

There was so many conflicting things and drama, that I can only described them by a single sigh and shrugged shoulders. That’s how I feel about this story. It wasn’t memorable enough to sing praises about it nor was it so horrible I want to rant.

Skye is former stripper and tries to get right on the track. She wants to leave her ugly past behind and work like any other ‘honest’ person. Now, as a dance teacher in community center, Skye has a minimum pay and barely makes the end meet. She hates rich people. She thinks they are assholes and nothing more.

Charlie is rich, or well it is his father that has the real money. When he meets Skye he cannot stop thinking about her.

I ended up not really feeling a connection between the two main characters Skye and Charlie, and when they ‘fell in love’ there was no awww moments for me or even a slight giddiness I always feel when characters finally get together. I wasn't interested in Skye and Charlie together….

The eroticism of the story was on a good level, though I expected more. I felt as I have read the same sex scenes all over and over again. Charlie didn’t make me hot and bothered, and his constant want to fix problems as everything in life has to be solved was very frustrating. For a twenty nine year old man, he didn’t act his age, especially near his father.

Two To Tango was not bad novel, I don’t hate it or have many negative feelings toward it , I just wasn’t captivated enough to say something remotely nice about it. Mimi Strong wrote a book that didn’t quite have the pull to made me love it, of course other readers can like it very much. It just wasn't for me.

I think I went into this books expecting what I had gotten from the Peaches Monroe trilogy, that was a mistake on my part. While I did like this book it just wasn't what I expected. As I am sitting here writing this I am still not 100% on how I truly felt about this book. There was so many conflicting things with me here. Sigh

So we get to meet Skye. She is a dance teacher and a former stripper who apparently has a strong distaste for rich people. The thing that threw me off about her story were the reasons why she had such strong feelings to the people from the pretty side of the track. It all came down to her rich father who basically left her and her mother high and dry after he died. He left all his money to his wife and other children, because it turns out he was married with a whole other family. And maybe some of her hatred came from her former job also. I'm just guessing here. I was kind of hoping besides her daddy issues there was some rich guy that had used her and all that fun stuff. But that was it, I kind of wanted more. I will tell you what I did love about her, for once she was the fucked up train wrecked basket case who needed to be hugged. Sadly you didn't get much of her pre-Charlie sexcapades but you got a few snippets here and there of some umm funny business. I loved it!

And then we get Charlie who is a pretty much relaxed guy whom is everybody's hero, or well Mr. Fixer of Problems anyways. He always seems to have the answer or solution for any task, great or small. I honestly just never really got Charlie, I just could never peg him. One minute he seemed all loved dovey geeky sweet and the next he was almost a wanna be alpha male. I wish he would of just stuck to being geeky, that part drew me more to him than the 5 second alpha. He didn't seem to pull that off all that great. but I give him props for trying. Oh I also must mention that he is also one of the upper class. Beside being a fixer, that seemed to be his only downfall. Well when him and Skye meet, it is a case of mistaken identity due to a dress and some serious lust at first site. Now there relationship was kind of lukewarm for me. Now don't get me wrong, I loved their sex life but other than that ehh. It was like if he wasn't trying to save her and she wasn't pushing him away there was nothing, to me they really had no chemistry. Besides the lust, I got nothing. It made me sad. I almost liked her relationship with Duncan better.

As for the story, well I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. At times it almost seemed like this was two different stories being shoved into one. It had it's funny moments but at times they almost seem to fall flat. I had a couple of laugh out louds but not many. It was almost like they were trying to hard to be funny at times. I did like the snarky smart ass stuff though, it was great. Now the sex was hot, hot and more hot. Especially the scene out in the rain, grrrrr. There was this one part in there that I think I may have passed out for a minute or two. Shiver Now this story did have a couple of surprises in it and there were a few times I remember loudly saying "HOLY SHIT!" So really when all comes down to it, I am feeling a little disappointed with this book but the two things that really made me enjoy what I did, was that for once the girl was the fucked up one and that one rain scene.

My song for this book: Use Me Up by Wanderhouse.

Skye is attempting to straighten out her life. She used to dance, not the ballroom kind, but the sort that includes sweaty men and dollar bills. But as long as she has her job of teaching dance at the community center she doesn’t need that life anymore. Charlie is the fixer. Son of the owner of the Country Club. He doesn’t have the type of lifestyle that is meant to cross paths with the likes of Skye. But when his club is preparing to open up a dance instruction class, Skye walks into his life and nothing will remain the same.

The chase in on. Charlie can’t get the girl out of his head, but he knows that she hates rich people and is not ready to expose who he is. But life for Skye is going downhill fast. Once Charlie gets the girl he’s going to have to hold on for dear life to keep her.

"Don't be fucking awkward," I whispered to myself. "Be classy. Don't yank down his pants and stick his cock in your mouth. Not unless you're babbling like an idiot, in which case maybe you should."

This was at times hysterical and at others a bit over the top. I typically find myself completely consumed while reading one of Mimi’s books. This was just a middle of the road type of read for me. I wasn't really able to find any real connection to the characters beyond a bit of infatuation with Charlie and his antics with Duncan. It’s not typical when I find myself more interested in a supporting character, but I think that is where my head was. Duncan sort of made up for a bit of my lack of enthusiasm for this read.

"At least my stepmom didn't offer her son's best friend a hand job."
"You should have taken her up on it, man." Loud enough for everyone around us to hear, Duncan said, "Everybody knows my stepmom gives the best hand jobs."

This is the first time I read a Mimi Strong novel. The cover art's sexy and intriguing, and obviously Strong has a dedicated following. The cheers I read about this new novel had me buying the novel without any qualms.

It started out strongly, and the banter between the two main characters was interesting, but then it all fell apart. It was almost as if the heroine underwent a really bad personality transplant. I wanted to cheer for her, for her to not be a victim, but it just didn't happen unfortunately. The "I hate rich people" frame of mind got very old quickly, and I found myself thinking, yeah, yeah, we've heard all this before, and the boytoy "got it". The "my dad was a rich man who betrayed us" theme has been done too much.

There are certain elements of this book I found completely unbelievable, including her not finding out who Charlie really is early on, on not doing a background check of the most basic nature on her new roommate, and not filing a police report are just a few. Something else? No one gets a job working with children these days without a thorough background check, including a criminal background, so how would her employer possible miss that she'd been a stripper and had a record? It's impossible to hide these things. Cooper, the private detective should have been able to trace Skye easily, despite her sharing the car with her friend.

Then there's the sex. No protection in having sex with a stranger, no matter how beautiful he is, is asking for a lot of heartache in the long run. Sure, the little talk about being clean, doctors' reports are awkward, but so is explaining one has genital herpes, genital warts, and other STD's to a potential partner after a history of unprotected sex.

The quick resolution at the end of the book, plus the mysteriously financed move back to mother, was jarring. The drug use and stripping made me feel like I'd invested time and emotion on Skye, only to see her fall apart. She'd started out so well, but the unravelling of her personality left me unsympathetic as she waited on Charlie, her Prince Charming, to sort her life out and rescue her.

***REVIEWED BY TONYA***

Charlie and Skye’s love story was very raw, emotional, and unique. It was a definite five star read for me. I loved the way the book was in two person POV and I especially loved all the twists and turns it took to make the story its own in a very unique way.
Charlie Ward is wealthy 29 year old man that was born into money. He works for his family’s country club as the “fixer”, Charlie loves to fix problems. Ever since he was a small child and lost his mother, he has a need to fix everything. Skye Evans is a dance instructor and former stripper. She is trying hard to turn her life around and make good choices. With a scarred childhood, being the secret daughter of a mistress and a wealthy man with another family, she despises the rich people.
When Skye’s dance class is threatened by the new classes at the country club, Skye decides to attend the open house in hoping to talk her parents out of taking their children out of her class. Before she has a chance to confront her student’s parents, she bumps into the clubs grounds keeper. Charlie thinks Skye is there to crash the open house and Skye believes that Charlie is the country clubs grounds keeper. Neither of them make the effort to ask each other because the sexual chemistry is enough for them not to care (and ummmm… its great… pool sex scene anyone?)They have an amazing night together but then they lose contact because of some crazy bad luck.
Speaking of bad luck, the universe is definitely not on the couple’s side as everything that could go wrong does. Skye ends up losing almost everything she has worked so hard for and her life starts to unravel. When Charlie finally finds Skye again, she is down and out. He tries to fix her problems for her and is succeeding pretty well, until she realizes that he is rich, and not the grounds keeper. Can she finally trust a wealthy man? Charlie is not without his demons, he is not so sure of Skye either, even though he has strong feeling for her, he thinks that she is hiding something from him.
My favorite thing about this story is the way it keeps you on your toes. I loved not knowing what the next chapter was going to bring. If you’re looking for a new kind of love story, Charlie and Skye’s story is it.

Mimi Strong delivers another funny, uncharacteristic, steamy romance!! Two to Tango had me needing to freshen up the downtown & LMAO!! This is not your typical Cinderella story but it does have a 29yr old dancer leaving one of her shoes for the 29yr old prince to find.......one catch is Skye thinks Charlie is the groundskeeper of a country club.
These two have some super hot sexual chemistry & definitely keep things interesting. Skye however has some issues with trusting people & especially rich people. Throw in some crazy friends & situations along the way giving you a fabulous story!!
Thanks Mimi for another great read!! Would love to read more about Duncan.....maybe a future book!!

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Two to Tango is a sexy romp with lots of quick witted humor that will get you emotionally invested in the characters right from the start. Mimi Strong hit the nail on the head with this one! This is one of those books that snuck up on me… I knew it was good from the first pages, but before I realized it I had finished the book and was upset I couldn’t have any more Charlie and Skye.

Skye is a dancer and works with children at a local community center teaching them dance. It’s her dream job. She’s also an ex-stripper, a smidge OCD, and has a bit of a problem with snark.

Life hasn’t been kind to Skye and while she is trying to make lemonade out of the lemons she has been handed, it’s turning out bitter and lacking the sweetness it needs. Could the handsome landscaper, Charlie, sweeten it up? Or will he just serve up more lemons?

Charlie Ward is handsome, loyal, and wealthy; the total package. Even though he made several blunders throughout the story, he was probably my favorite character. He may be rich but, he isn’t an entitled snob which we see way too often in books these days. He can be a bit bossy, but that only seems to be in Skye’s case and it’s pretty limited to when they are naked, so it’s pretty fucking hot. Charlie is a fixer… if there is a problem he will come up with a solution and do what he can to fix it. I have to admit, that is probably one of the reasons I connected so well with him. I mean what sane person doesn’t want to have a friend, lover, brother, sister, or SOMEONE who can help them with their problems? To have a person in their lives that is there with the sole purpose of making things better, that right there is worth more than a thousand one night stands, acquaintances, or fake BFFs. Charlie is just that kind of guy – the good guy.

When Skye and Charlie get together it is sinfully hot. I would almost say that the scenes in this book are the hottest to date from Mimi, but I’m hard pressed to because I love so many of her books. I have a new appreciation for antiques and swimming pools…

oh and mustard. If you are looking for a sexy read that won’t leave you hanging this one is for you! Get humor, drama, smut, and a HEA all rolled up in one sexy package. Five stars for Two to Tango.

Amazing! Wonderful. NOT your normal romance book at all! But in a totally awesome way. Two To Tango is a wonderful, raw, amazing story. It’s got lots of twist and the characters have depth but also with an amazing history. This makes the story a bit odd but, in an amazing way.

Skye is trying so hard to be a good girl. She’s not been in the past with a history of drugs and stripping. She’s a dancer but didn’t really want to be that kind of dancer. Now she’s teaching dance to kids and really trying to make ends meat and life a proper life. Somehow one thing after another happens and everything comes crashing down on her.

Charlie is a fixer. Not the kind of fixer you see on TV (Scandal anyone?) But he can fix problems by looking out of the box to find the solution. Locked out and a credit card isn’t working…..use a spatula. That make sense right? To Charlie no problem can’t be fixed no matter what.

Skye might put this to the test. She has a great sense of morals and she knows right from wrong. But she also has a pattern and not great parents. Her dad cheated on his “real” family with her mom who is a prostitute. This wasn’t all bad since her dad was there with them a couple nights a week to eat dinner and hang out. He took care of her and her mom. He said he’d always make sure they were taken care of. Skye’s father dies when she is young and even though that was terrible her mom didn’t worry too much she knew she’d be in the will. He always said he’d protect them. Well it didn’t happen quite that way and her mom used what little money they had for drugs. They had to move into something cheaper and she went through husband after husband. Not a great ending to Skye’s childhood. Knowing she is the product of a prostitute puts her morality on the back burner when it comes to doing what she has to…..to survive.

Charlie is going to need to be patient and kind. Extremely understanding and have enough fight for them both. Skye is going to have to trust and let go of her past. Finally let someone help her, help her become the person she is supposed to be. Can she? Will she trust & confide in Charlie?

Charlie has his own family issues too. With his mother’s death and his father’s constant cheating on his step-mom, who isn’t completely awful, and the family business he’s not sure he wants to be apart of…..he’s got his own hands full.

Will Charlie be able to fix his own life? Will he come to terms with his mom’s death and have an honest discussion with his dad about his future?

Again, this was such an amazing story. Great beginning. Great ending. Amazing story in between. Mimi Strong I’m now a HUGE fan of yours!!! You’re amazing!

**TARA'S REVIEW**

*4 Salt Water Pool Sex Stars*

Running from her past as a stripper, Skye rebuilds her life, she doesn't have much, but loves her job teaching dance to young girls. When the program at the community center she works at is in jeopardy of losing kids to a country club Skye tries to devise a plan to get the rich parent's of her students to realize the importance of keeping the program going.

"I never saw the point in settling down with just one girl, but then again, I'd never met a girl like Skye Evans."

Skye meets Charlie, whom she believes to be the groundskeeper at the country club, at an Open House for the club. A few glasses of champagne and Skye finds herself in Charlies arms.

"He thrust against me, sucking in air through his teeth as he sunk an inch deeper."

Skye's ups and downs keep finding her around Charlie. Charlie is relentless and wants more then Skye is willing to give. Skye does what she does best, runs....Can Charlie find her and make her his?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Throw in a little humor, with some hot public sex, and a pretty decent storyline and you have Tow To Tango. I really enjoyed the characters in the book. Charlies friend Duncan cracked me up, with his witty one liners and no bullshit attitude, he needs a little love story of his own of the comedy form.
Charlie & Duncan BFF lol
The situation that these two got themselves into had me giggling.
I read this book rather quickly, 88% in a few hours, it sucked me right in and I kept going because I needed to know where it was all going to go. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the way it all turned out. The characters keep you entertained, and wanting to know more. the sex scenes are hot, but not scorching. Overall a really good one day read.
I loved Mimi Strong’s Stardust series and devoured all three books in a day or two, so when I came by Two to Tango I had high expectations. I was not disappointed at all! I loved this book! From the start I was drawn into the characters story and became engaged with the characters pretty much right away. I loved the quick with humour of the characters which gives the book a more pleasant read instead of seriousness all the time.
"Save me, Skye. Give me a chance."
Skye and Charlie. Here we have two strong characters who are polar opposites. Skye is a former stripper who is trying to change her ways and now teaches dancing to children. Skye’s trying to make the best of what she’s been given in life and this is going ok, until she meets Charlie. She keeps Charlie on his toes constantly, and just when you think they’ll be fine – BOOM – she’s off again. While Charlie, he’s just as stubborn. When he sees what he wants, he goes for it. And what he wants is Skye. He’s handsome, loyal and wealthy. What more could a girl want? Only, Skye doesn’t favour any of these qualities.
“I'll do anything for you, Charlie, because you're mine.”
For me, the mistaken identities twist was perfect. It was funny and very believable in some sense. It just added to the whole feel of the book. Skye can’t stand rich guys, but the one guy she connects with and might just be the guy for her – happens to be rich. Only she doesn’t know this. The interactions between the characters are seamless and you find yourself being pulled in more with each page. A tale of two flawed characters being thrown together, but still being able to make it work.
“Skye, if that's what it takes to win your heart, that's what I'll do. I will take my pants off at the next red light."
Two to Tango was a beautiful, hilarious and sexy tale that will have you on a roller coaster of emotions, and a book you just cannot put down. A tale of finding love in the most unexpected of places. Mimi Strong again, hasn’t held back and has given us another amazing story with characters that you’ll love, who will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it. I can’t wait for her next work!
This book... Was something else. It went from a totally innocent book at the start to ... I don't even know what.
Let's start with the heroine. She seemed so innocent at the start but then we find out she does coke when she's depressed, she sucks dicks with her friend at the same time for money and will finger her friend for money as well, she takes pills even though she has no idea what it is and will jump straight back to stripping for money again! She was her own problem and she never realised. She was also SERIOUSLY a sex addict! At the start she made me believe she has only had sex like once.
She kept saying she wanted a fresh start, but as soon as something went wrong she turned to drugs and stripping. Did she seriously expect her fresh start to be problem free? She also just up and left her "best friend" without telling her anything.
It seemed like Charlie was the only normal person in the book. He may have lied to Skye, but he wasn't stupid and reckless like her or anyone else in the book. So I can't complain about Charlie, apart from the fact that it's disgusting that he had sex with Skye when he first met her, even though he thought she was sleeping with his father. What it not enough to sleep with one of his father mistresses!?
Duncan... He was just simply an idiot to me. I don't even want to go into the details. He had good moments and bad moments for me, but overall... He was an idiot
I wouldn't recommend this book tbh. They couldn't even have one normal conversation because they would have sex, after a while that gets boring. This is the second book I've read from this author and will probably be my last
Skye hates rich people like really really hates them. When she meets Charlie he's doing maintence and something about him just calls to her. But after a steamy session in the pool she knows better than to stick around. So why can't she get the hottie with the great tricepts out of her head even a month later?
Charlie sees the woman in the red dress and she's HOT, it's also the same outfit he saw his father's mistress leave by the steam room. Why does she have to have such great legs? He can't get her outta his head even weeks later? As he learns more and more about her he wants her to be his, but she doesn't want to be fixed and he's insistant about keeping her.
When everything's said and done and all the secrets are out do they really want to be together? How many screw up's does it take to make things right?
Skye is as stubborn as they get, she's independant and she can take care of herself. Except when things really screw her over she has to learn when to accept help and it's fun watching her grow and allow others to help her.
Charlie knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. But he's got a stubborn streak too and it could cost him everything. He's also got a best friend that broke things up and kept the laughs coming.
Fun, short story and a woman who doesn't want to be chased and a man who won't be detered.
I was a winner in a "book of your choice giveaway". So I went to Amazon and saw the list of new releases and decided to pick Two To Tango! And OMG!!! I am so happy I`ve picked this book! Best choice ever!
After reading this book it`s official. Mimi Strong is an "instant buy." I don`t need to read the synopsis of her books anymore, beacuse I KNOW I`ll love them!
I enjoyed reading every page of this book. I love books like Two to Tango. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I huged my Kindle. I lived in this book. It`s funny read but also very emotional read!
I love Charlie and Skye`s story. Skye wants to be happy, she wants to put her past behind, but that`s easier said than done. She also hates rich people. BUT guess what? Charlie is rich! But their chemistry is smoking hot! And I really like Skye. She isn't afraid to speak her mind. And Charlie, ohhh Charlie he is so dreamy! :) They are perfect for each other!
I highly recommend this book!
I think this started off strong for me. Skye was strong, flawed, and I loved her. Fast forward to the pool scene, hot and loved it. I was hooked. Then it just lost mojo as it went to the rain scene, and Charlie could have had more development. Then the 3 night deal happens and it took sort of a nose dive. Progressive, slow, digression. I thought that by the car strip scene I lost some interest- then the two police, even more- then it sorta just tried to package up the ending with a nice bow, but it felt unfinished, too fast, not thought out, just a dud. I wish it stayed as strong as the first half. I ended up not really feeling a connection between the two, when he said I love you- there was no awww. I wasn't invested. I was however invested in Skye and I wanted to see her have a HEA.
I really enjoy Mimi Strong's writing, there is always a level of snarky humor that makes me laugh. That being said, this book didn't quite do it for me. I didn't get the connection between Skye and Charlie. Skye seemed to be such a strong person in the beginning of the book and then really fell off the wagon. To me, it seemed like there were two different characters as Skye in this one.
Mimi did not disappoint yet again, I honestly don't know how the woman does it. Every time I am having a crappy day, BAM a Mimi Strong book comes out and it instantly brightens my day and makes me laugh uncontrollably. Mimi is twisted and I LOVE her sense of humor. Some people may not get it, find it funny or even love it. I do, because these books ARE Mimi, she puts everything into them including herself and she writes for her. I never want her to change and I want to read these stories forever. They make you feel happy and laugh, you forget all your problems in life at the time. That alone is something that should be commended for. Now about this story, Skye is a broken girl trying to pick up the pieces of her crumbling life. Everything is going wrong for her and she is trying to make the best of the situations she is given. Along comes Charlie and he stirs her life up even more. Charlie has his own issues and trust problems and some secrets. A bunch of horrible events happen to poor Skye and she is forced to make some not so nice choices. But you have to survive, right? Skye needed to be put back together and Charlie is the right person to do it, with the help of Duncan, oh man, Duncan and Skye are two hilarious characters and their interactions were hilarious. I literally laughed my a$$ off. Anywho....can Skye and Charlie make it work? can they fix the broken pieces? or will Skye run off to Las Vegas and never return? you will have to read and find out. I think you will thoroughly enjoy this book. It has it all.
Mimi always wraps her books up in a nice little bow, but they always leave me wanting more and I do. I kind of felt like it ended abruptly, but that could just be me. I also had some left over questions about the old dirty perv from her work, Gloria, etc, felt like those could of been addressed a bit more, maybe? maybe that is just me?
So, I I pray for more Skye and Charlie one day, but until then, I will take anything Mrs. Strong has to offer <3
Some quotes I enjoyed:
"Charlie, shut up and f*** me before we both turn thirty."
"No man is gonna spread a little butter on your bread if you're parked in this office day in and day out."
"No wonder we have budget problems. You're eating all our stationery."
"A toast. To our wives and sweethearts, may they never meet."
"I'd rather marry my roommate and have his hamster babies."
"Where do you park that thing when you're not using it?"
"Save me, Skye. Give me a chance."
"I'll do anything for you, Charlie, because you're mine."
"I laid that egg. Didn't Charlie tell you? It's one of my many talents."
"I bet you do, mustard-tits."
"Planting that flag and claiming my territory."
"I claim this a$$ in the name of Charlie Ward."
"We could try being gay, but you go first. No teeth. Okay, maybe just a little bit of teeth, but no biting."
"Don't make me laugh. I'm Spider-Man."
"Skye, if that's what it takes to win your heart, that's what I'll do. I will take my pants off at the next red light."
**I received this book from the author and Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock in exchange for an honest review.**
This is one I thought I would love and surprisingly, I really liked Charlie, but I couldn't develop the same liking for Skye. I was empathetic to her situation and could honestly say I felt really bad for her given her struggle to make ends meet, but her behavior at times and her outright bias against ALL rich people just seemed so extreme and unrealistic.
Skye is a 29 year old dance teacher who works at a community center teaching young children. Aside from her friend Gloria, she doesn't have many other close friends, at least none that are a good influence. Her father is deceased and her mother lives in another state. She is trying to turn her life around after the fiasco of her last career choice as an exotic dancer ended badly. The problem? She barely makes enough to make ends meet now, but after having learned that the country club is planning on adding a dance program, she realizes that she stands to lose her more affluent clients' children which could seriously impact the future of her class and her ability to continue paying the bills. She decides to take matters into her own hands and crash the country club introductory party to learn all she can about the new program and to talk her clients out of pulling the kids out of her class, if possible. There she meets Charlie, who she mistakenly assumes works at the country club, but not in management. Things heat up fairly quickly between the two, then she just ups and disappears on him. If Charlie has one flaw, it is his relationship with his father and the assumptions he makes because of it. After meeting Skye, he's intrigued. She isn't exactly what he expected and after their intense first meeting, he wants to get to know her, but he can't find her. Eventually the two will cross paths again, and even though the chemistry is there, neither is completely honest with the other which causes all kinds of issues.
I gotta say, the sex was pretty hot, but if it isn't your thing and you don't want to read some pretty graphic scenes...you're probably not going to enjoy reading this book. One thing that Charlie and Skye had between them was that physically, they meshed. However, she was a hot mess. There were times I just did not get what he saw in her. She said she was trying to change her life for the better, but walks away from someone who could potentially enhance that life and I'm not talking about his money, which she didn't even know he had. And when things go wrong, she makes even worse decisions and I'm not talking about going back to stripping. So yeah, I enjoyed the story for the most part, but I just couldn't relate to Skye for a good portion of this book. I can say that by the end, she just started to redeem herself and become the person I could honestly say I would have liked.
This book was HILARIOUS! And Sexy and it definetly takes Two to Tango, and if I had to choose someone to Tango with I would most certainly pick Charlie! You have to pick this book up asap! It was awesome!
Skye is a dance instructor for children with a past job of being a stripper, she really hates rich people. She is independent and doesn't want anyone helping her expecially a man, and a rich man will never do for her. Well until she meets Charlie but she doesn't really know Charlie to well in fact she thinks he is just a maintenance worker at the country club she meets him at (boy is she wrong) no matter she finds her self having sex in weird places with him because there chemistry can't be denied. Will a secret tear them apart and can she truely trust Charlie. Could she trust this man when she finds out he is actually rich and could take care of her? Charlie keeps his secret because he knows he will loose Skye but with this all blow up in his face, can he win her over?
Get this book now!! you wont regret it!
I look forward to more from this author!
Below are some of my fav lines! Enjoy!
Charlie--My twenties were all about working hard and playing hard. I never saw the point in settling down with just one girl, but then again, I'd never met a girl like Skye Evans. She stomped into my life on a pair of long, lean, dancer's legs. She wore a red dress, killer heels, and a whole lot of attitude.
Skye-- It was me who feared change. Me, who loved her job but barely got by from month to month. Me, who saw change for what it was: another step down.
Charlie-- I reached my hands around behind her and slid my palms along the smooth surface of her pencil skirt, up her thighs and onto her buttocks. I pulled close enough to bump against my c##k. My pulse down there was thrumming, and I was and growing like a hothouse zucchini in her sexy presence.
Charlie-- " I hadn't figured you for the jealous type. I like to see you squirm, though. Your blue eyes just got brighter, and you're not so hungry for lunch after all. You're thinking about how much better it woudl be to sit there knowing your teeth marks were still red on my shoulder. That you'd marked me as your own."
Skye-- "You might know the women around here, but you don't know me," I said. "I'm not hungry for power, not looking to make partner at a law firm, and not looking to get a ring from someone who did. If I win the lottery, I'd give all that money away before it poisoned me and took my soul."
Charlie-- 'I'm not someone from your past, or a symbol of everything that's gone wrong in your life. From where I'm sitting, it's clear you can take care of yourself. You say that you don't need to be rescued, but what about me? Me, Charlie. This guy in the we clothes. This guy who's hoping maybe you can rescue him, because he doesn't know what the fuck he's supposed to be doing with his life. Save me, Skye. Give me a chance."
Mimi I love your books! I LOVED this book! Charlie and Skye! WOW! Skye is trying to be a good girl(she's a former stripper), she is now a dance instructor to girls ages 8 and up. She didn't have it easy growing up, she hates rich people. Charlie is a rich kid who can't stand his dad's philandering ways on his step mom. Charlie see Skye at an open house for the club his father owns and thinks that she is his father's mistress so he lures her for some very sexy hot pool sex!"YOU'RE A DANCER",HE SAID." THAT EXPLAINS THE LEGS." "WE DON'T HAVE ANY MUSIC." "CAN'T YOU HEAR MY HEART? IT'S BEEN DRUMMING SO LOUDLY SINCE THE MINUTE YOUR BODY TOUCHED MINE,WHEN I WAS HOLDING YOUR KEYS OVER MY HEAD." "IT THAT'S HOW NERVOUS I MAKE YOU,THEN YOU'D BETTER NOT KISS ME. YOU MIGHT DIE." But Skye disappears after they are almost caught! Charlie goes to look for and can't find her. But after while he does. When Charlie finds Skye can he convince her that he isn't what she thinks he is? Charlie and Skye's chemistry is freaking combustible! OMG I thought my kindle was gonna melt! EVERY PAGE IN THIS BOOK WILL BRING YOU AN ORGASM!"ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT THE NIGHT WE MET? BY THE POOL?" NOW I AM. YOU WERE SO FUCKING HOT THAT NIGHT, IN THE POOL. YOU WERE LIKE LAVA INSIDE." "TELL ME MORE ABOUT THAT NIGHT." "I'D NEVER SEEN ANYONE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN YOU, TEACHING ME TO WALTZ." AND THEN YOU AGREED TO STRIP DOWN TO YOUR UNDERWEAR, AND I WAS,LIKE,WHO IS THIS CREATURE? THIS CAN'T BE A HUMAN WOMAN. SHE MUST BE A GODDESS." "COME ON. IS THAT WHAT YOU REALLY THOUGHT?" ALMOST GROWLING, HIS VOICE LOW,HE SAID, "I'M GOING TO POUND THAT PINK PUSSY OF HERS. THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING." I'M GOING TO DO OR SAY ANYTHING IT TAKES, TO GET NE INTO THAT PUSSY. MOUTH. FINGERS. TOUNGE. DICK. MY WHOLE BODY." " THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT." "ANYTHING IT TAKES." " TALK DIRTY." "RUB MY DICK ON YOUR SEXY LITTLE DANCER TITS." "LIKE THIS?' " THAT FEELS SO GOOD,BUT NOW I WANT TO COME IN YOUR MOUTH." "ALREADY? BUT WHAT DO I GET?" "YOU GET ME TO LAST LONGER THE SECOND TIME,AND I'VE GOT BIG PLANS. I'M GOING TO HAUL YOU OUT OF THIS PINK LITTLE TUB AND FUCK YOU ON TOP OF EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF FURNITURE IN THIS APARTMENT." "EVERY PIECE?" "LICK ME. STOP TALKING AND START SUCKING." The tug of war between them was scorching! Just no words! I loved the playful banter between the two of them, Duncan had me cracking up. Poor guy was jealous that his best friend would be taken away from him! Never underestimate chemistry between two people. I mean this is had me grabbing the poor husband and attacking him every minute I get! I give these two hot,hot,hot people 5 stars! (I am done with this book and I am still having hot flashes!) ~Chris
Skye had been burned by rich people all of her life. She would rather life on the streets than be dependent on a rich person. Coming from the life of a stripper to make ends meet, she found herself a job as a dance instructor at the local community center. When confronted with the news that she could lose some of her dance students to the up class private country club, she knew she had to act fast so the poor girls could still have the chance to dance. After “finding” some fancy clothing in an awkward situation she decided to go to the open house at the club and see what she was up against. Little did she know the clothing that she lucked into was going to bring her a possible solution but also a world of heart break.
Charlie was one of those sons of a rich family, unfortunately the fortune belonged to his mom who passed away. He was determined to not let his dad’s sexual habits tear down what his mother had built. After seeing his father in more than one situation that could lead them to lose the club he vowed to stop all the affairs he could. Sometimes he only saw the clothing of the women that his father was involved in at that time, so when he saw the red dress on Skye, Charlie went into fix it mode once again. Little did he know he would fall in love with this dancer and have to repair the damage that rich people had caused her in her life.
This is a story of Skye and Charlie, of his acceptance at her doing what she needed to do to survive and her acceptance of Charlie, his money and his willingness to help her at all costs. The author did a great job as giving us the personality of each character and letting us into the story. While I don’t recall reading another plot like this in a long time, it didn’t really give me the excitement that I had hoped for. Skye was willing to have sex with Charlie at any time and he wasn’t able to refuse. I think that was the sticking point for me, the mixed messages of how she refused to be one of those girls who would have sex with anyone, then turns around and is having sex with him during the first few hours of meeting him.
I am glad the author gave us the ending she did. It was nice to see the answers to many questions that I had during the book. The writing is great, the flow is good and you aren’t left with a lot of dragging pages. I would recommend this book if you were wanting a simple love story with a few twists, but if you are looking for high drama, edge of your seat reading, this one won’t do it for you.
Two to Tango was a first for me. It was the first time I read a romance book where I was more interested in the story and I was able to get passed my inability to connect or believe the romance between the main characters. The story was good. It was an enjoyable and quick read for me. And the sex between Charlie and Skye was incredibly hot. However, I found myself not believing the connection between Skye and Charlie on a romantic level. I got their physical chemistry but, to me they just seemed better suited as friends, or maybe their story just needed to be developed a bit more. I'm not sure, but I can't say that I was displeased with the book because I did find myself invested in the story and its characters.
Two to Tango follows a down on her luck ex-stripper, Skye, who has never once caught a break and fate isn't about to start being nice now. She meets Charlie while scoping out the country club that is threatening to steal her dance students. It's definitely lust at first sight for the pair. I think Charlie senses Skye's need for help and is attracted to that part of her and of course he has a major fascination with her dancer legs. It's over a couple of months until the pair actually meet again and strike up a fast paced relationship. Charlie is a fixer, and somewhat of a bleeding heart. So when he finds Skye hurt and obviously spiraling down the drain he has no choice but to help. Skye being the tough bird, that her circumstances forced her to be, tries to refuse his help, to no avail. This is where the story gets a little murky. Through a string of poorly misplaced blame and misunderstandings Skye and Charlie are once again separated. In which time Skye falls back on her true and tried methods of surviving until Charlie comes to her rescue once again.
I think my biggest problem was Skye. She was a slave to her past and circumstances and I didn't feel like she tried to redeem herself. Charlie is a great guy, who has a bit of a hero complex but, I had no real beef with him. I can definitely see these two as Friends with Benefits but not a real couple. True, it didn't bother me all that much but, I do see where the story could have gone differently. All of that said, the story is very interesting and intriguing. It wasn't predictable and I loved the premise of the storyline. So the bottom line. Would I recommend it? Yes, this was an iffy one for me but, I can see where others would love it! Will I read the author again? Absolutely! Mimi Strong's writing style is unique and refreshing. And I already have more of her books waiting on my TBR shelf :)
Happy Reading!
SINFULLY HOT! CINDERELLA LOSES HER STILETTO, EXCHANGES HER POLE FOR A DANCE STUDIO, AND FINDS A SCHMEXY MAINTENANCE MAN INSTEAD A PRINCE?
Two to Tango is about Skye Evans a twenty-nine year young woman with a killer body and long gorgeous legs that could make any man stupid. She was a dance instructor for children at the local community center living her dream job, since she previously was an ex-stripper and appreciates an honest job for the good person she is trying to be. Skye is striving to make her life better considering how she grew up, by keeping positive and making changes for the better in her life.
“…you don’t know me…I’m not hungry for power, not looking to make partner at a law firm, and looking to get a ring from someone who did. If I won the lottery, I’d give all that money away before it poisoned me and took my soul.” - Skye
Charlie Ward is hot handsome sweet tattooed wealthy man and part owner of the country club his family owns, The Cedars, where he encounters Skye while fixing a water irrigation issue. What Charlie did not expect was how Skye affected him immediately after meeting her, but he also sense the distrust she had for rich guys.
“I’m not someone from your past, or a symbol of everything that’s gone wrong in your life. From where I’m sitting, it’s clear you can take care of yourself. You say that you don’t need to be rescued, but what about me? Me, Charlie. This guy in the wet clothes. This guy who’s hoping maybe you can rescue him, because he doesn’t know what he’s supposed to be doing with his life. Save me, Skye. Give me a chance.” - Charlie
Even though, Skye tells Charlie several times that he cannot be save, rescue or fix her life, but Charlie never gives up on Skye because Charlie is a “fixer” by nature and tries to help Skye to see the different outlooks of life for a solution.
“You’re a beautiful mess to me…Like wildflowers, growing up in the middle of a tire, along the side of the road. You’re not prize roses, carefully planted in the right soil and pruned back at the right times. You’re wild, and you’re free. And you smell like heaven. When I look at you, I believe…I don’t know. I just believe.” - Charlie
Two to Tango is a SINFULLY HOT LOVE STORY that will capture your attention immediately and will be unable to put the book down. Mimi Strong’s novel, Two to Tango, will have you tangled between the schmexy love scenes and the hilarious banter between Skye and Charlie.
Mimi Strong’s novel, Two to Tango, receives - 5 AMAZING STARS!
Strippers and blow, auctions and sex!
Well we have strong willed Skype who wants nothing more to stay away from her past and rich people. But as everything from her past comes at her with force what could she do.
Charlie comes from money but is the best problem solver for The Cedars. But with the last name Ward can he keep that a secret from his Cinderella or will she find out and run for the hills.
Mimi Strong as always had the panty’s dropping and had me freshening up the downtown. OFTEN!!!! This book had me laughing and wishing I had Skye as my friend she is funny. Then we have Duncan and come on Duncan NEEDS his own story he is funny and a sexy jackass.
P.S Mimi start Duncan’s story where you left on with Skye and Charlie I would love to see how they finally end up.
SPOILER DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE TWO TO TANGO
To finish the last scene in this book.
Skye’s students go out and dance and rock it. They have a great performance and when asked for an encore and Skye hadn’t prep for this. She motioned for the girls to come off the stage after they bow again.
The girls then got into a start position and started to dance when You and Me by Lifehouse. Charlie starts to walk up the center aisle straight for Skye. Skye is looking at Charlie and the girls in confusion. Skye is about to open her mouth when Charlie gets the mic and says ” Just like this song says I haven’t been able to take my eyes off of you. Since the first time I saw you in that drop dead sexy red dress. So its you and me babe. You ready to have all of my craziness mixed with yours?” Then Charlie is on one knee with a simple platinum band with a sweet heart shaped ruby in the center the same shade as the dress Skye wore that first day. Charlie then looked up from under his lashes to say ” Skye will you marry me?”
Skye believes she also heard Duncan say “And me” but was never sure.
The girls came up behind Skye with red zephyrus flowers in their hands ready for her to take them. Skye knelt down with Charlie hugged him and said” I was expecting the song I’m in love with a Stripper by T-Pain.” Then yelled “YES!!!” for everyone else to hear.
BUT HEY THATS JUST ME WISHING.
Hoping to post a comment from Mimi herself.(she is my first Author dream girlfriend)
Stereotypes can be broken it's what the book tries to tells us and they make it happen. Everyone has a grudge that they hold against someone, sometimes is a person, for other ones is hating a certain group of people. The second kind of "hate" is the one that Skye has, let's say she doesn't hate, she resent the rich ones, like Charlie... But who wouldn't have disgust to the social class that left her with anything? She has had a difficult lifetime because someone decided that she wasn't worthy of her father's money and throw her mom and she to the streets without a second thought.
Skye meets Charlie and the story begins, the books is a journey that will lead trough some aspects of the relationship, specially the sex life aspect while you laugh about the situations their put into. Constantly you will be saying, "How can they make that?" or "I don't have the flexibility to make that pose" "is it me or I suck at this sex part?" but the book also has a different thing. It's a billionarie male character but uncharacteristically he tries to hide this fact, he isn't proud of where he comes from when she meets her, Skye makes Charlie want that he could be at her level but at the same time he tries to convince her that not everyone is like the people who made her mother feel miserable about some money. This book ilustrates that what you may think of someone because he belong to a certain group isn't what he may be, sure, some people live by that recognition but al least someone isn't what you may think. Money is a good thing if it's used to help people, not to destroy them. Charlie makes the effort to make Skye feel loved and valued even though she doesn't want it from him, she want to hate him but he moves earth and sun to prove her that he is a good person.
This book will take to a rollercoster of emotions, you will feel hate, love, passion, desesperation but most important you will accept the fact that people isn't always a category, they are what they want to make of themselves.
