Before you ask what I'm doing reviewing a magazine where I'm credited as a contributing author ("Illegal" written with Pete Aldin), this review is not regarding our story. I'm not going to lie and tell you that our story isn't great, because I am kind of partial to it, but rather, let me tell you about the magazine.

This is a great collection of stories. I'm particularly fond of Jack Nicholl's "The Statues of Melbourne" and David Tallerman's "A Twist Too Far." The writing of Alec Austin "..And We But Players" and Logan Albright "The Zombie Apocalypse Is Thirsty Business" is strong and powerful as well.

Taking the time to write something about each and every story in the collection would take up way too much time, but it's fair to say that a copy of this magazine is on my bedside table. I can read and re-read the stories inside over and over again. That's the best possible review I can give to this issue (and Andromeda Spaceways overall). I am proud to have my name on this cover of this magazine, but I'm more proud to have our story surrounded by some simply amazing stories.

Many thanks to the crew at ASIM for their hardwork and congratulations for ten years of making interstellar travels enjoyable!

This 10th anniversary issue of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine wasn't my favourite, with only a few stories that really stood out for me. Lee Battersby's 'Comfort Ghost' was one, a strange little urban ghost story about letting go of grief; another was Lyn Battersby's 'The Blind Pig', a creepy little Prohibition-era fantasy. 'The Zombie Apocalypse is Thirsty Business' by Logan Albright fulfilled my requisite quota of quirky fantasy with a twist of doom, and 'Better Phones' by Grant Stone, about the hazards of trying to keep up with the crowd, had a memorable heart to it.

But while most of the rest of the collection were fine stories, few stayed with me and on the whole it felt uneven. ASIM 56 breaks from the usual format of a single editorial vision rotated from issue to issue; instead, each of the contributing editors put up a single story (with some nice commentary added on which they made their particular selection). The result is an anthology a little too eclectic to really hold my attention.

That said, none of the stories are bad. The advantage of a selection so wide-ranging is that there must be something for everyone.
