In the ongoing war between good and evil, many battles are fought on many fronts. Leaders emerge from the unlikeliest circumstances to tip the balance of power. The power of good embodied in Jonah International, a powerful corporate entity whose only interest is in ensuring mankind's power of choice and thwarting evil at every turn. The world is falling under an influence of darkness and is in desperate need of a defender to lead them into the light. The leaders at Jonah believe that the answers lie in Joshua Arden, a young man with a hard life whose destiny could change the face of humanity and faith forever. The choice to accept this responsibility is his own. How will he choose?
Glorious Incorporated is one of the most intriguing books I have read in a long time. The plot is quite intricate but very well thought out and I really liked the modern take on the powers of good and evil with these being manifested within corporations. There is a very strong christian element running through the book but it is not overdone and overall it was a really good read.
It took me a little while to get into but I really appreciated the originality in this book. It certainly picks up on the action as the story moves forward and the author leaves you plenty to think about.
This is your quintessential tale of good against evil. Corporation against the little people. About making the right choices. Josh and Harry are best friends, almost brothers. They move to New York to pursue their careers. Josh is hired by Jonah International and Harry by Alastar-McGlocklin, the two biggest conglomerates in the world. Each on opposite sides of the coin, both in pursuit of Artifacts.
This is not an action-packed story, and I actually set the book aside for several months before getting back to it. When I picked it back up, the more I read, the more I was drawn into the story. There were a few surprises which made me step back and re-think what I had previously surmised. I love it when a writer can make me do that.
There are quite a few characters, and most of them are fairly developed. I came to care for Josh and Harry, and I'm glad Kate received her just rewards. Kelan was probably the most complex character, as we weren't really sure which side he was on. This is a type of story that makes you contemplative about your life choices. Are you for the light, or the darkness? And is there really redemption?
My only complaint, the book needs a good editor and the writing is somewhat stilted and written in too passive of a voice.
If you believe in angels and demons, heaven and hell, and the fight of good over evil, I would recommend this book. There is a sequel, and I’m interested to see what happens with Josh and Jonah International. I give my 4 feathers.
I have to admit, I usually walk away from a book if I keep encountering grammatical errors. It's just too distracting. But this time I hung on to the very end because the story was just so darn good!
About half the commas need to come out, there are some questionable word choices and subject/verb agreement issues, as well as verb tense shifts throughout (if you're writing in the past tense, stay in the past tense!), but the story is gripping and has some wonderful surprises in it.
Overall, my delight with the story outweighed my annoyance with the grammatical errors.
This is the first book in a series. I hope to read the other books in the series. It was very interesting and different. This first book leaves the reader with unanswered questions and reveals who the Object is at the end. You get a vague understanding of the two organizations and their purpose. This book also shows the strength of friendship and the loyalty of a great friend.
This book started out slow, then picked up steam. I was searching for more than was revealed from a Christian point of view. Who was the the main character representing and how was he chosen? The book was entertaining but confusing.
This book rapidly becomes a "page turner" with an exciting plot and interesting characters. You'll rise and fall with the emotional feelings of the hero, Joshua, as he copes with ever increasing layers of new life circumstances. You'll enjoy reading this book.
One concern: Some of the grammar in this book should be corrected. At issue most often are the tenses of verbs and the use of pronouns.
Glorious Incorporated is the first book in The Joshua Chronicles series. This can be read as a standalone, though it is clear that the story doesn't end with this book. There is violence. This is a story that has religious overtones and is a good versus evil storyline. But it isn't preachy. I like that one reviewer summed this book up as a modern day Pilgrim's Progress mixed with Tom Clancey. Very appropriate. This book held my interest from start to finish. Now I want to read the next book.
I received an audible copy of this book after buying it. I don't remember how I got it! I very much liked listening to the story & got through it much faster. It is a very different story than I am used to. It took a while into the book before I began to figure what was going on because of the differentness of the book. But I very much enjoyed the story line. Am interested in reading the next book.
Wow, that was a really good book! I saw some reviews that had me questioning whether or not I should read this book, clearly they were just anti-truth and bitter about goodness being a valuable quality. I hope to see more by this author will definitely be reading the rest of this series!
What would it be like if spiritual warfare was crossed with the business world, Glorious Incorporated. Just who is Joshua really? Just how untouchable is he? A lowly boy who comes to power with a heart of gold. Imagine having unlimited resources and using it for the good of others. You must read this book!!
Enthralling plot, starts slow but runs like a steamroller soon enough. Christian-theme (won’t beat ya up). Highly recommend for Christians and others who like goods mysteries.
The book kept me guessing and wanting to know what was really going on at Alastair company. I will say that I got bogged down by some of the descriptions.
Beautifully plotted. Carefully put together. Smoothly written. A little disappointing to discover heavy Christianity behind it all. Still an interesting fantasy.
I really tried to like this book because it had so much potential. But it just dragged on and on with far too much detail and not enough action. I abandoned it after reading 64% of it (and it's a huge book).
Enthralling plot w/Christian theme (won’t beat ya up). Much better than I presupposed. Couldn’t put it down. Highly recommended for Christians and those looking for a slow start that gets and keeps your interest.
