In the forgotten magical city of Moonhaven, Madame Seraphina, the town’s most renowned magical matchmaker, is known for her uncanny ability to pair witches and wizards with their perfect matches. As the Valentine period approaches, Celeste, a floral shop owner, finds herself on the receiving end of an elegantly adorned envelope, an invitation to Madame Seraphina's exclusive Valentine's Day matchmaking event.
Celeste attends the event held in a hidden secret garden filled with enchanted roses that each carry a unique curse or blessing. Among the flickering fairy lights and the fragrance of otherworldly flowers, attendees meet their mysterious blind date, a fellow witch or wizard whose identity is concealed by a glamour.
As the night unfolds, Celeste discovers that her date harbors a secret agenda beyond the search for love. After exchanging one of the magical roses, a forbidden love starts blooming. Celeste will have to find out if her rose was blessed or cursed.
A magical love story in Moonhaven. This Valentine story with a touch of magic is a romantic tale, ideal to immerse yourself around the holiday of love.
I'm not really sure what to say about this book... I really hate to give a bad review on any book, but this probably doesn't deserve the 3* I gave it, more like a 2*. I did finish it(DNFs I only give 1*), but I did not enjoy it. There was not any real chemistry between the main characters. It felt so forced. As in, I felt like the author was beating me over the head with it throughout the whole story. I wanted to say "just shut up already! I know you love each other because you've said it 5,000 different ways now!" I don't normally have that kind of reaction either. There was some plot holes, but I don't even care enough to go back and find them to tell about them. I normally love witchy books, especially when there's actual magic involved. But this missed the mark big time. Even during the battle scene, your baddies aren't going to just stand around waiting on a 10 minute declaration of love and of; Love conquers all! Together we can do it! Blah blah blah for way too many paragraphs while they literally just stand there watching. I'm going to stop here because I don't think I should write a longer review for one I didn't like, than one I do like. I just can't recommend this one. Maybe the others in the series is good and I've passed on a gem here. I'm really sorry to the author, because I know writers work so hard to write these books! I did recieve this as an ARC, but these opinions are my own.
Some of the phrases used in this story were so beautifully written, that I was spellbound by the words. This reminded me of a fairy tale, one I wouldn’t mind reading to my five-year-old granddaughter. I can very easily see this as a Disney movie with all the flowers and magic and true love, complete with the heartfelt sigh at the end.
I only gave this three stars because it didn't flow the way I feel a young adult book should or would. There were some really beautiful moments in this book. It felt a little younger to me. It was a well written story it just has some areas that I feel like they could change. That being said it is a sweet love story with fairytale vibes and was light-hearted and easy to read!
Fairytale vibes in Moonhaven Seriphena invites Celeste , a flower shop to an event for Valentines in a secret garden , where there’s cursed or blessed roses no less , is she about to fall cursed or matched and blessed…a forbidden love is blooming anyhow. Entertaining and light reading
Moonhaven's witches have a new face with Celeste, a flower shop owner. A budding love grows around her flowers. Fall in love along with Celeste in this sweet romantic short story.
*I received an ARC and am giving my honest review*
⭐️ REVIEW: I personally felt like this novella deserved more. It’s promoted as young adult, but reads more like middle-grade. Which is unfortunate, because the story and the premise has a lot of potential! It truly didn’t need to be a novella at all and deserves to be a full novel. I couldn’t understand why Madame Seraphina was “evil” with no backstory, and the 10 minute love proclamation during the battle just… didn’t work or make sense.
⭐️ FAVORITE QUOTE: “For the first time since they'd met, they saw each other with no magical interference or deception. Their love had survived the trials set before them, proving that even in the darkest of times, true love could endure.”
A Moonhaven love story unfolding on Valentine's Day. The major theme in this episode of Moonhaven's witches is Love, which matches the season perfectly. Cozy and sweet.
