Erin is the werewolf Queen of Athol Castle. She has no memories of the events of a few months ago, where she believed herself to be a psychologist, and met the enigmatic and charming Conner...
Filtiarn has taken over Conner’s body once more, and is relishing being in control. Cruel and sensual, he decides to work on a plan...to take over humanity. He begins a war...of werewolves against humans. But unknown to him, Conner is fighting against him within his own body, to set things right, and to bring Erin back from her own darkness. He tries to undo a great mistake from long ago, using Erin’s famed sword, Sioctine, as remnants of his own memory come back to him, opening up the present he now lives in.
At the same time, another enemy is using the situation to their advantage, following the werewolves at every turn, threatening to undo everything that Conner is struggling to obtain...
But will he be able to bring Erin back from Filtiarn’s grasp, or is it too late? And will he be able to stop the war against the humans progressing?
And who is threatening to take over not only the humans, but the werewolves as well?
I'm Miranda Stork, and I'm addicted. Addicted to writing and reading books, anyway. And chocolate, but that's another issue - no interventions, please.
I live in the middle of a forest in North Yorkshire, spending my spare time as the wild woman of the woods, scaring small children and upsetting the sheep. On the days that I feel like being civilized, or I haven't got any unicorns to ride, I sit down and pour the tumbling thoughts in my head out onto digital paper. Mainly the thoughts and characters come out in paranormal form, with a good smattering of romance, because everyone likes a good cuddle. But you can also find strong elements of thrillers, myths, and even dystopia amongst the pages of all my novels. I've wanted to write books ever since I first realised that fairytales were not the newspapers of the fairy kingdom, but the imaginings of actual people who wanted to tell fancy made-up stories to other people. From that moment, I was hooked.
Why do I write? Good question. It might be easier to just keep the stories in my head, or even just to write them for myself. But I want to share them. There is no greater delight for a writer than when a reader devours your book, and declares, "Something in that novel resonated with me. And I want MORE." So grab your lucky clover and a baseball bat (there's some nasty paranormal creatures where we're going), eat the cookie with 'eat me' tagged on it, and enter through the tiny door into the world of Miranda Stork...
Hmmm, think split personalities, like Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde meets werewolves, magic and a crazy war on humans… I’m SO intrigued. So it starts with Erin, who is the Alpha Queen of a pack of Werewolves and her lover/ partner in crime Filtiarn. BUT… Erin isn’t really the Erin he isn’t supposed to be, and Filtiarn is the Mr Hyde of Conner’s Dr Jekyll. Hehehehe I know, that sounds complicated. But Filtiarn has convinced Erin in all their blood lust that a war on humans, treating them like food and/or slaves is the “in thing”. Lol yep, domination of the world is always a bad guy’s wet dream. The story literally starts with a BANG!
So then we meet some supporting characters, you know how I love those! I call him Mr. T, as it’s a unique name, I would misspell it and I KNOW I’m not saying it as it’s supposed to be said, and I really like him. Mr T meets Jenny, the human he saved, and then part of the conspiracy begins. And there’s Matthew, Sukema- I’m also spelling her name wrong and mispronouncing that one- and Demitri. They are Conner’s co-conspirators… Lol it’s hard to explain without giving you all the goodies!! Let’s just say I’m liking all the characters.
The writing is riveting, and has drawn me in! I’m invested and I hope this is a series. It’s written well, as there are some gruesome parts- bloody war does this- yet I’m not feeling like I’m reading a gore-fest! I’m even getting some understanding toward some of the bad guys… How’d that happen!!! Lol
All in all, I will say this book is a great read. It’s got some very interesting feels to it, so I’m not sure if I would stick it directly in one particular category, like only urban fantasy or paranormal romance. It’s what I’ll call a cross over lol so it could interest multiple types of genre readers.
I look forward-hoping- to read more. And I’ll also looking forward to reading more from this author! Yay to 4 PAWS FROM ME!!
This story was kind of explosive! From the first page, the reader will return to Erin, Conner, Filtiarn, Sukuma, and Matthew... and where Conner's story ended, the one for Erin started with a bang!
Miranda Stork had a lot of creativity and a surprising imagination, because what's happening to Erin isn't the only story. There's a totally new challenge for Erin and Conner and it's not about Erin's changes.
I was pretty into this book at first. I wanted to know what happened with Erin and what the purpose of Filtiarn was. Then I had to admit that the story slow a little and I kind of lose track.
Then Jenny arrives. I liked the fact that the author put the context around her. It was different and gave a break between who's the real Conner, Filtiarn?
I found it weird that Jenny, who sacrificed her life to save her family, turned at the end to liked Targhlan? Well, it's my point of view, because honestly, I loved them together, they were... different, but in real life, I'm not so sure! It's a paranormal thing!
Sometimes I found the whole story a little too much with Erin's past, Conner's past, Filtiarn's past, Conner's parents Past (Rosa and Lucius)... a few chapters before the end, everything fall in place and I wasn't able to put the book down! A great mix of supernaturals creatures! YAY! Overall, this series is interesting, exciting and a bit harsh on human side, but I know some people will love to read about this side of the story, on how they treated humans... But most of all... What an ending! WOW!
I totally recommend this book to everybody who has read Conner, because I'M sure you want to know what's happened to Erin :) . Then, if you love werewolves stories, you should try this series too! I'll put this one in the ''adult'' section even if it's not filled with sex scenes; the subject is present as others that might not fit the YA.
Destined to be together by one of the goddesses Erin and Conner are torn apart by the interference of a power hungry lesser god. Werewolves have staid hidden and vampires in the background until the curse upon them changes this forever. Reading Erin you will find the adventure that these two have to face to bring the world back into the harmony it was meant to have. Families are supposed to love you yet for Conner the only love he knows he can depend on comes from Erin. He has to face his betrayers and destroy them. Erin is the goddess’s child. Loved by her mother and strengthened by her you will have to read to find out what choice she makes to save humanity and her wolves. A story of love, betrayal and secrets this is a paranormal story that will have you turning pages and wondering what will occur next. Miranda Stork is a masterful weaver of stories. A must read. I have to say five stars are not enough to rate Erin. Bella Doerres
This is the 2nd book in the trilogy and starts off about where the first one ends. It's not a standalone so you need to read Conner (The Athol Trilogy, Book 1) first. I love a book that keeps me on my toes, and this certainly fit the bill. Once again, the author did a fantastic job portraying the characters and their surroundings, I've never been to Ireland, but Ms. Stork made me feel as if I was right there with them. Like with the first book, I couldn't put it down until I was finished. There were several instances I was questioning my own sanity along with the characters! Erin is one lucky girl, the love and devotion Conner has for her is mesmerizing, I couldn't help but feel envious. The last paragraph in the book had my jaw hitting the floor!! I cannot wait for the next book. Pick this book up, you won't regret it!
They say that sequels are hard-pressed to out do the original tale, but with ERIN, Miranda Stork blows that opinion out of the water. I didn't think I could love this book more than I loved CONNER, but whoa....uh-huh. Yep. Erin, Filtiarn and the crew return, this time giving us a look back (and forward) in Stork's delightfully different take on the werewolf phenomenon. What I love most about her writing is the attention to detail, both in storyline and characterization. I love her characters. End of story.
If you've read CONNER, then you've got to read ERIN. It's a moral imperative. If not, start at the beginning and lose yourself in Stork's amazing world-building and vivid imagery.
This book was very well written. Loved the characters new and old and the plot twists have you guessing until the very end. The story begins where Conner left offer in has been turned evil by an enchanted jewel on her sword put there by Filitarin. Conner returns and has to figure out how to get her back to her normal self again. Along the way he comes across people from his past and finally finds out who filitarin is and how he came to be. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Great plot, lots of twists and turns. Love the characters and emotional twists were explained clearly. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. I can't wait to see the good guys overcome the evil ones. Highly recommend the series
