Three unlikely friends must work together to save their worlds from a prophecy unleashed.

While performing for her family’s troupe, sixteen-year-old Ricci accidentally discovers she can open portals. Wowing the audience with exotic scenes just might be her ticket to a home without wheels and a better life.

Too bad it sets off a long-dormant prophecy foretelling the doom of everyone.

When a portal opens in the fae realm and a human girl walks through, Lela’s world is thrown into chaos. She’ll never have her quiet life with the boy next door if she cannot find a way to stop Ricci and save her people.

Callen is at his wit’s end brewing a potion that will satisfy his master’s quest to open portals. When the Magnificent Menowin Traveling Troupe rolls into town with rumors of a girl whose magic transports you like you’re part of the show, well, Callen has to find her.

Their destinies are intertwined against an enemy they never see coming, but all of them have reasons not to trust each other. If they cannot set aside their differences and fears, the prophecy will claim more than just one world. Their choices will change the course of history.

Sorcery and Stagecraft is book one in the Sorcery & Sacrifice series, a young adult clean romantic portal fantasy, perfect for fans of coming-of-age tales, deep friendships, and good triumphing over evil. Although a standalone, for the best experience, it is recommended to read the books in order of publication.

Thank you Kristin for allowing me to be an ARC reader for Sorcery and Stageceaft! I’ve been so excited for this series and am giddy with excitement after just finishing the book.

First of all…Kristin is a beautiful human who I instantly started following when I read the Fated Born series of hers last year. Her kindness is unmatched and I was surprised in the most amazing way when I realized I was mentioned in the Acknowledgements at the end of Sorcery and Stagecraft. Truly what an honor! This made me so happy and I couldn’t believe it! 😭😭♥️♥️♥️

✨“When you feel lost or confused, remember who you love and who loves you in return. That is truth. That will lead you out of the dark."✨

What you’ll find in Sorcery and Stagecraft:
🔮 Romantasy
🔮 Friends to Lovers

🧝🏻‍♀️ About the book:
Sorcery and Stagecraft begins by introducing our main FMC Ricika (“Rikki”) who lives a traveling lifestyle performing plays in different towns during the markets. When Rikki finally gets the lead role in one of her family’s plays, her role as the princess quickly opens everyone’s eyes as her magic reveals beautiful illusions of flowers, smells of trees, bright colors of the world as the audience experiences the scene coming to life during the performance. It’s all an illusion, and people are in an uproar over the amazing traveling performers! Rikki is ecstatic to be such an amazing performer that the people want to see. The crowd will follow them anywhere just to get a glimpse of her illusion magic! However, when Rikki’s illusions begin to get stronger, everything may not be as it seems, and Rikki is put in a situation of continuing to do what she loves - performing and putting on a believable performance, or listening to her mother, and cease performing all together.

Callen is an apprentice who is learning under his Master Malek. Callen wishes to become a strong and powerful mage, but his master has him constant brewing potions and gathering supplies, and won’t spend the time with him needed to grow into his magic. One day while scouting the market for supplies to help his master, Callen stumbles upon Rikki and her illusion magic while she’s performing at the market. Callen is enthralled and can’t wait to get closer to her! Callen is pulled to Rikki and her magic, and thinks she is exactly what the master is looking for…she has a gift that can help his master get what he’s been pining for for so many years…

Lela is a fae who is growing into a lovely young female who loves to be in the garden tending herbs and plants while exploring her magic of healing and helping the plants she tends. Lela loves to spend time with Oren, her best friend for many years, while living with her mother while her father is off tending to the king as a general to his army.

Oren, a fellow fae and Lela’s best friend and secret love interest, decides after an unexpected incident that leads to the beginning of a terrible prophecy being fulfilled in the fae land, that he must do his duty for his world, and join the kings army as well. Oren leaves Lela behind and as she longs to be more than just his young friend who he’s known for many years, but she doesn’t get the chance to tell him….

Danger unfolds. A battle between good and evil and light and dark will come, and moments will come for all of the characters to stand up to what they believe is good and true, and fight for their land, freedom, friends, and family. Love will be the ultimate decider.

What is the prophecy, and why is Lela and Oren as well as the fae world in danger? Will Rikki get to continue her dream, or will she have to stop at the demand of her mother? Will Callen get to become the Mage he’s so desperate to become? How does a human, a fae, a warrior, and a Mage all connect in this brilliant story?!

…and this is why you must read this book!

5 ⭐️ - amazing, amazing, amazing!
🌶️ - 0/1 - what I love about this book is the beautiful relationships and the build up of love and care between characters. There is definite angst, tension, and pining with some intimate kissing and touching. Even though there is little to no spice, it’s not needed! ♥️

Spice: ❌ (Clean Romance)

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. Like always, this review is voluntary & honest.

Y'all, look at me reading back-to-back romantasies. I mean, if you know me, I am screaming & screeching left & right from new adult & adult romantasies, contemporary & dark romances. But I have begun my YA girlie era! Now this book, y'all, this book was incredibly fun & a comforting read. Now, I don't mean comforting in a way that nothing stressful goes on, because IT DOES. AND IT HAD MY FLIGHT OR FIGHT MODE ACTIVATED.

Now let me start off with saying that I am a LOVER of Kristin's writing. The way she makes it easy to visualize this incredible world she has created, & makes you feel like you're fully immersed into it & are fully a part of it, is such an incredible talent. I seriously LOVE all of her work thus far & I fully believe I will continue to do so. And although it did take me more than usual to get into this one, I truly feel like it was a me thing vs it being due to the book itself because I do think all of the plot points, POVs & characters easily have you hooked.

I think my two favorites from the three main characters were Callen & Lela. I think their personalities made it incredibly easy to like & root for them. Their personalities had their differences, but their caring nature & sense of loyalty made them very similar as well. I wanted to wrap them up in the biggest hug & protect them from the whole world. Ricci on the other hand, there were moments where I liked her & others where I grew frustrated with her. Mainly because out of the three, she was the naivest. Now, because of her age & because this is a YA book, it was understandable. And I still rooted for her & her happily ever after all the way until the very end. And can I just say how INCREDIBLY ADORABLE LELA & OREN WERE? Like, if possible, I would definitely read a book only about them & their story after the events of this book. I love them with my whole heart.

As you read this book, you will experience ALL Of THE EMOTIONS. Happiness, curiosity, stress, anger & overall joy. This truly was a fun, lighthearted coming of age read & I definitely recommend it! Especially if you're a lover of the following tropes: he falls first, forbidden love, pining, forced proximity & fast-paced, YA romantasies! 🩵

Ricci is a sixteen year old who begins acting as the lead in her family's traveling troupe. She begins creating life-like illusions, triggering a centuries long prophecy that could bring the end of the world for both humans and the fae.

This story follows three POVs - Ricci, Callen, and Lela. In the first chapters, we are immediately presented with all three, which made it slightly confusing in the beginning. However, once we see how the three storylines come together the pace picks up significantly. I enjoyed each of their stories equally which is rare for me when there are multiple! This is a true YA fantasy with no spice which I enjoyed. You really could feel the emotions and the connections grow between the characters through their interactions.

My only complaint, and it is slight, is that the beginning was a little slow for me until all our characters began interacting.

Out on the 14th, this is one you'll want to pick up!

Thank you Kristin for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

There is so much I want to say about this book, from the beginning to the end I was hooked. I couldn’t put it down! Human, Fae, Sorcerers, and Demons?! I mean it has all of my favorite things! Add in love at first sight, destined (albeit stubborn) mates, high risks & even higher stakes, found family, some mind control, and forbidden magic & you’ve got yourself one heck of a book! Kristin Hamblin knocked this one out of the park! The only spoiler I’ll give you is…the story isn’t over. (Loud cheering)

An absolutely thrilling first installment in the Sorcery & Sacrifice series!

Sorcery and Stagecraft tells the intertwining tale of three seemingly unrelated youths: Ricci, a young actress who stumbles upon her ability to cast portal magic; Callen, a young mage apprentice seeking nothing more than to impress his master and succeed at his magery tests; and Lela, an aspiring young healer who dreams of settling down with her childhood sweetheart.

As their stories collide, each young person will be tested and tried in ways they could never imagine as they seek to thwart a centuries-old prophecy and keep their worlds from falling apart. Can Ricci, Callen, and Lela put their prejudices aside and work together to save those they love? Can they stop the impending storm that threatens to swallow everything in its path before it is too late?

These days, I don't read a lot of clean romance or true ya books. I'm a big fan of smut, spice, and everything nice. But let me tell you that when I picked this book up, none of that mattered. It doesn't need it. Sorcery and Stagecraft has all the elements of fantasy that I love wrapped into a beautiful and ya friendly package that doesn't leave any room for disappointment.

Kristin has expertly woven multiple POVs into a fluid and cohesive story that only gets better as it continues. Ricci, Callen, and Lela are such wonderful protagonists and each character brings a different level of depth to the story.

Ricci is young, naive, and hopeful. She yearns for an idealistic future and is forced to learn very quickly that life is a lot harsher than she knew.

Lela is a little more mature, used to living in a world where the threat of world-ending danger has been an ever-present thought in the back of everyone's minds. But even she has been sheltered and must grow and adapt quickly as everything she thought she knew is turned on its head.

Callen is somewhere between the two. Life hasn't been particularly harsh or kind to him. He's lonely and wants nothing more than to make his master proud and help him with his discoveries, to become a successful mage, and to prove to his estranged family that he is worth more than they think.

I never had a dull moment while reading. From the very beginning, this story had me ensnared and I didn't want to put it down. This is a fantastic novel for anyone of any age who truly loves fantasy. I'm very much looking forward to the continuation of this series and I cannot wait to see what else Kristin has in store for us.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. As a former theatre kid, I adore that Ricci is an actress and it is such a central plot point of the entire story. It spoke to me on a nuclear level. This is a standalone, young adult, clean romantasy that will be part of a larger series, which is a concept I really enjoy in series. I appreciate interrelated stories while also getting a sense of closure/completeness. I also loved the cast of characters and how their destinies intertwine. The magic system is unique, and the world building is immersive and dynamic.

This young adult fantasy is a whimsical, enthralling, and whirling tale.

Ricci has spent her life traveling with her performing troupe family from town to town, and is finally given the chance to perform the lead role in their show. When Ricci unexpectedly transforms the stage into a real life fairytale setting during her first performance, she believes that she simply created an illusion. That is, until she later finds herself transported to an entirely different realm-the realm of the fae-who are believed to be creatures of legend. Ricci must work with a fae girl, Lela, and the mage apprentice, Callen, to stop the dark forces that threaten to fulfill an age old prophecy of destroying the fae and human realms. Ricci learns that even in the midst of darkness, love, family, and friendship, can be the light that guides you through.

I absolutely loved the growing friendship between Lela and Ricci, the best friend turned into something more dynamic between Lela and Oren, along with Ricci’s own blossoming relationship with Callen. Callens absolute enchantment with Ricci and his devotion to her was so sweet and heartwarming. It made my heart so happy!

Seeing both Ricci and Lela find their happily ever after was one of my favorite moments of the story. I also really loved that the characters recognized when they made mistakes or acted rashly and made it a point to seek forgiveness and make amends for what they had done wrong or had neglected to do. This aspect was so refreshing!

I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to continue this series!

3.5 ⭐️ This was a cute fun read! I really enjoyed getting the three different POV and seeing how they intertwined together! I loved the plot and the characters, however I felt that the story towards the end was a little face paced and felt rushed. There was so much happening that had the potential to mark huge emotional impacts that I as the reader couldn’t/didn’t get to dwell on and process because everything happened so quickly. With that being said it was such a fun and enjoyable read! Thank you to the author for the ARC all views are my own!

I absolutely loved and adored this book!!! As always, Kristin delivers with her strong female main characters. I can't get enough of the world building old time feeling. So wholesome and full of wonder. A beautiful story of strength and found family. The trust between forbidden friendships/relationships is spot on. The plot was full of twists and turns. I felt so many things, such an amazing read. I didn't want it to end.

Sorcery and Stagecraft is a fantastic YA Portal Fantasy with three engaging main characters each who feel lonely in the world as they journey with magic in their own unique way. We get to know each character deeply as they share their story and the adventure really begins as they all cross paths.

Ricci is a 16 year old performer who has just been given her chance at the lead role in her family’s performing troupe. So immersed in her role while performing, Ricci finds herself accidentally opening a portal to the Fae realm wowing her audience and surprising herself.

Lela’s world is turned upside-down as a human appears through a portal in her field, fulfilling the ancient prophecy that humans would arrive through a portal one day to attack the Fae… until she sees Ricci for the kind, caring person she really is.

Callen is trying everything he can to satisfy is Master’s obsession with opening portals, the old Mage neglecting his training and leaving him only to his potion work…until he witnesses Ricci’s performance and recognises her special magic.

We begin the story connecting with each main character, understanding their worlds, their lives and getting to know each one deeply. As we leave each chapter it feels as though we are leaving a friend behind, so invested in each one.

As our three main characters connect our story feels whole. Witnessing their connection develop quickly into genuine friendship is beautiful as they risk everything for each other.

Soon, the adventure picks up and the stakes get higher and higher, each of our main characters being asked to give more of themselves for the sake of another.

The final 25% of this story has these worlds exploding into chaos, and me holding my breath worrying for these gorgeous characters!

I am well outside the target YA audience and rarely read YA these days but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There was so much depth to the characters, thorough world building and enough stakes to hold my interest the whole way. The characters were written successfully as teenagers, their choices and abilities matching my expectations of 16/17 year olds which helped the story to flow well.

Sorcery and Stagecraft includes:
- Gentle, clean romance
- Portal Magic
- Humans, Fae and Mages
- Demons
- Secret identity
- Betrayal
- Travelling performing troupe
- Different realms
- Potions
- Magical Training
- Magic Awakening
- Battles

In 'Sorcery and Stagecraft', magic doesn’t just build bridges between worlds; it entwines destinies, challenges the fabric of reality, and carves a narrative as enchanting as the spells within its pages.

Kristin Hamblin's debut into the Sorcery and Sacrifice series is a triumphant foray into the realm of young adult clean romantic portal fantasy, capturing the essence of adventure, friendship, and the unyielding power of self-discovery.

Through the eyes of three distinct characters—Ricci, Lela, and Callen—Hamblin masterfully weaves a tapestry of interconnected fates, each character vibrantly bringing to life their worlds with depth, growth, and a relatable humanity. This multi-POV approach not only enriches the narrative but allows readers to explore the richly built universe through diverse lenses, highlighting the differences and similarities that define and unite us all.

While the story may take a moment to gather its pace, this deliberate buildup enhances the depth of the world Hamblin has crafted, ensuring that when the plot does pick up speed, readers are fully invested in the fate of the characters and their worlds. The character development is, without a doubt, the heart of this novel, with each protagonist showcasing significant growth and a compelling arc that resonates deeply with the themes of the book.

The plot, intertwined with twists that feel both surprising and inevitable, propels the story forward in a manner that feels both thrilling and natural. Hamblin's ability to balance character-driven storytelling with an engaging plot ensures that the world and its magic feel vibrant and alive, captivating readers with every turn of the page.

"Sorcery and Stagecraft" is a must-read for fans of young adult fantasy, especially those who treasure character depth and the endless possibilities of portal magic. Its clean romance, intricate character arcs, and imaginative world-building make it a standout debut. I eagerly await the next installment, hopeful to dive once again into Hamblin's magical multiverse.

I'd like to express my gratitude to Kristin Hamblin for providing me with an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of 'Sorcery and Stagecraft'. This review reflects my honest opinions and insights into the book.

Thank you to the author for having me as part of the ARC team and giving me the chance to read this in advance in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sorcery and Stagecraft is a great YA story full of magic, friendship, love and conflicts between different realms. It's told from a triple POV: the fae Lela, the actress and portal-opener Ricci, and the human mage Callen. Ricci accidentally discovers her magic ability as a portal-opener and finds herself in the fae realm, where she is seen as a deadly threat from everyone.✨️  That is, except for Lela, a young healer who quickly becomes her friend and vows to protect her when things get difficult. In the meantime, Callen is working to help Ricci in the human world, with the help of potions and the growing bond between them. The three get entangled in a war between worlds, involving humans, faes and demons - a war that was prophesied a millennium earlier and was set in motion by Ricci's magic. ⚔️

I especially enjoyed Lela and Callen's POVs. Lela's determination to do right, after accidentally betraying her friend, was heart-warming and her feelings beautifully shown through the author's writing. I loved her with Oren and I wish we could read more about the two of them, both before and after the events of the novel ❤️
Callen also showed sheer determination to protect Ricci, whom he falls for pretty much instantly, and a cleverness with magic that was great to read!

On the other hand, I sometimes found Ricci a bit frustrating in her naivety and quick, barely thought-through choices. That said, she was a sweet protagonist and she is really young, so it's also fair that she still would need time to get more... sensible? I adored her relationship with her family and her love for her "stagecraft" 💕

One last thought: some parts felt slightly rushed or sudden, without much build-up. However, this did not make the book less enjoyable and didn't happen often!

What to expect?
💬 3 POVs
✨️ cross-realm magic
🧚‍♀️ faes, demons and mages
❤️ friends-to-lovers and love at (almost) first sight romances
🌶 clean romances
⚔️ war and on-page deaths (TW)

I'd recommend this to lovers of fantasy adventures and romances 🌟

If you’re looking for a clean YA book with romance, self discovery, magic and multiple realms then you will love this one! It didn’t take much time to get into though once the characters start to meet up it really really takes off and you’ll have a hard time putting it down!

Ricci is such a great FMC. She is as kind and genuine and innocent as they come which makes her journey, especially when she’s in the fae realm, all that more significant and believable. She is very very family oriented. As an added side note: can I just say how refreshing it is to read a story where the family is just so loving. Like I want to move in with her and her troupe. The part about how her dad gives the best hugs was so sweet and made me smile.

Lela is also another great FMC. Also very family oriented but she is more adventurous and headstrong. She is a more typical heroine in a YA book. But I appreciate how independent the book displays her while showing her vulnerability and uncertainty too. She compliments Ricci really well.

Callen gives off some major golden retriever energy and he must be protected at all costs! He has his own journey he’s on so I don’t want to discredit any of that but it definitely felt like he’s meant to compliment Ricci more than being a standalone. Though he could def stand on his own if needed.

The magical elemental is really well done and thought out. Yes there are demons and faes and mages but not in any way I’ve read about before. The author creates clear distinctions between the worlds so that you know where you are at all times.

All in all this is such a great YA book and deserves a spot on all fantasy lovers shelves.

Sorcery and Stagecraft is a fast paced, coming of age YA Fantasy novel with 3 POVs. Ricci is the youngest of her family’s traveling troupe. She is an actress, constantly traveling from town to town with her family to put on small performance for the townsfolk. Her dreams are to one day preform in front of the king. Her destiny changes when she finds out she is an impressive illusionist, captivating her crowd into believing and seeing the scene of their plays. But her impressive tricks spark the start of an ancient prophecy. Her fate becomes entwined with a handsome mage and a brave Fae from another world who must stop the evil that will plague both the human and Fae worlds.

Kristin L. Hamlin has created such a captivating story, with characters who go through some much growth and learning. She crafted a wonderful friendship between Ricci and Lela. Both characters made mistakes throughout the novel, but learned to forgive and move forward.

We can’t forget Callen and Oren! Callen is such a sweetheart and was always trying to better himself. He never let his family or Master Marek put him down or keep him from his goals. He was always so supportive of Ricci and let her be her own hero. Same with Oren, he trusted and let Lela learn and flourish. He always had her best interests in mind.

I easily fell into this world and could not put this novel down!

I want to thank the author, Kristin L. Hamblin for letting me be on her ARC Team and giving me a free eARC of Sorcery and Stagecraft. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3,75⭐️ -arc- Releases March 14th!

This is a clean YA romantasy, with multi-POV and portal fantasy and Fae!

The story starts with 3 POV’s, which was a bit confusing. But the characters and their stories were easy to understand. What I really liked was the chapter headings, they had little illustrations to show which character you would follow! I liked Callen, he gave me ‘Potions at Professor Snape’ vibes.

I liked the magic sytem, and how the three separate characters and stories were brought together by this mystery of Ricci’s sudden magic. The story really came together, which was really well done! It felt whimsical, and the beginning reminded me of the writing style of Erin Morgenstern (The Night Circus).

What followed was an action-packed hunt, with saving each other, revenge and development in relationships. This was quite fast-paced, and I liked the different settings where the story takes place.

The last 20% of the book wasn’t really my thing. I think the biggest point for me was that it was so much focused on the action, that I didn’t really have time to think about the characters and the story anymore. It was maybe a bit too rushed for me, and I would love to see an epilogue.

Overall, this was a great YA romantasy, with tension, but no spice (which i liked!). I liked the magic system, and how the three POV’s came together was really well done! It was action-packed, but maybe a bit too much action for me at the end. It is a standalone, but it will continue as a series!

Last but not least, I would like to thank Kristin L Hamblin for providing me with this ARC!

“You don’t hide your pain from me. You don’t wait until I’m gone to show what you’re truly feeling. I’m with you. I’ll carry you. I’ll break with you. Whatever you need, it’s you and me now.”

Sorcery and Stagecraft is the first book of the Sorcery & Sacrifice series. All the books of the series can be read as a standalone, but the author recommends reading them in the order of publication.

The book is to in multiple pov - troupe performer Ricci, apprentice mage Callen & Fae herbalist Lela. I was equally excited to read about them all. The main characters were all well introduced.

I liked their individual storylines and also how their stories were intertwined with each other’s.

I liked how all the main characters made some mistakes but were able to grow and learn from those.

The world building was also well written and interesting. The storyline itself was captivating and well executed. There were some romantic elements in the story but no spice.

The storyline was mostly lighthearted & fun but there were some darker moments and elements too.

There were some questions left unanswered (especially about the ending) but those hopefully will be answered in the following books.

I do really recommend this book to anyone who is looking for easy to read, not spicy, plot driven romantasy book full of plot twists and lovable characters.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

✨Sorcery & Stagecraft✨

Thank you, Kristin, for this ARC.

This precious YA fantasy adventure begins with world building surrounding a prophecy regarding a chosen one with portal powers not born in centuries who has the power to destroy the Fae. But human realm thinks Fae are stories while the Fae prepare for a future of destruction stemming from those humans who don’t believe they exist.

3 POVs are given us between Lela, a young Fae herbalist; Ricci, a troupe performer; and Callen, an apprentice mage. Their lives become entwined in a series of plot twists, betrayal, and romance as the portal opener ignites the prophecy.

Sorcery & Stagecraft is a wholesome, no spice romance, plot driven fantasy full of pining, magic, angst, forbidden love, plot twists, and found family. The MMC, Callen (but we can’t forget Oren, because he’s 🤌!) is kind, thoughtful, selfless, and if they aren’t fated mates, they felt like it! The 2 FMCS are gentle, vulnerable, hopeful, and always see the good. They are willing to do the right thing even when it doesn’t make sense.

@authorkristinlhamblin did an incredible job with giving us a fresh take on magic and a lighthearted yet epic adventure despite the high stakes. The romance was utterly adorable and the ending was *chef’s kiss*. It was so nice to have a read that made me feel all my favorite feels of a romance but didn’t rip my heart out. I fully recommend!

I loved this book and I could barely put it down while I was reading it! The story follows the three main characters Ricci, Lela, and Callen after their worlds collide and force them to work together to overcome a centuries old prophecy. The action is this book was practically non-stop and I liked how it was always something important happening, rather than just filler information that would help move the story along. I could never guess what was going to happen and this book kept me on my toes in a way that I loved.

I loved the development of all the characters throughout the book and how they would all own up to their mistakes rather than just trying to push past them. Both the friendships and the romances that evolved through this story were so cute and had me smiling!

Another detail that I loved about this book is the art on the chapter headings! The fact that there was a specific artwork for each character POV was just such a small detail that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was such a creative way to tell which POV the chapter was in and I quickly became obsessed with it!

Thank you so much to Kristin L. Hamblin for sending me an ARC! I will definitely be following along with this series.

Sorcery and Stagecraft is a story with the fae, demons, portal magic, humans, and mages. We have three POVs in this story: Ricci, a stage performer who travels with her family to different markets to make money, and Lela, who is in the fae realm, wary of humans. We must hide every time a warning gong goes off at the hint of a portal being opened and Callen, a mage desperate to gain his mentor's approval. Ricci learns one day that she can create illusions, not realizing what these illusions do; Callen sees this magic illusionist and knows it will be the ticket to winning his master's attention. Unknowling this illusion, magic sets off the portals in Lela's world, and a war is soon waged. Callen, Lela, and Ricci soon will be entangled together, defending the fae from demons and power-hungry mages who want to control the whole world, both human and fae. I loved how this read as a stand-alone, though it is marked as a book one; I think it is more like a series of interconnected stories set in the same world. The description of the portal magic, the battle with the demon king and demons, and the sweet touch of romance kept the story firmly in the Young Adult genre. This is the first book I read by this author, but I quickly added her to my list to check out.

I havent read much YA but this book is everything, perfect for YA with multiple POVs, lessons, and filled with diversity. This is an absolutely fantastic read the way Kristin Hamblin talks about the realms and mystery. When I read usually I have images playing in my head and with this book, it truly felt like I was present with the characters, observing what the next move will be. This is a form of writing that is absolutely captivating and 100% WORTH the read. As much as I don't have enough time to read as much as I used too, this book definitely reminded me why I love reading because of the place it takes me too. I also read a lot of books that contain spice, it is nice to read a book that doesn't contain spice and focuses more emotionally and scenery, this is absolutely beautiful! Lela, Ricci, Callen, and Oren are written/portrayed so well. An amazing job to Kristin Hamblin for this beauty of a book and truly thank you for this opportunity to read your amazing book, I cannot wait for the rest of the series!

If you’re looking for a true YA novel with clean romance, found family, epic adventures, portal magic, a battle between good and evil, and epic world building look no further.

Kristin did a beautiful job building the world out by utilizing all of our five senses. She also did a wonderful job balancing out the relationships, and diving into the different characters.

The multiple point of views really drove the storyline along, and I found myself rooting for the characters like they were my own personal group of friends.

Although there was zero to low level of spice, it didn’t take away from the storyline. It focused more on the friendship and found family vibes between the characters, and I loved that! It’s a little different from my normal reads, but I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. I will be diving into more of Kristin’s work, while I wait for the second book in this series.

“Sorcery and Stagecraft” comes out March 14, 2024. Add it to your list now!

Thank you Kristin for the eARC!

This was such a delightful read. It is a triple POV story with a little of everything, acting, romance, potions, magic, and fae. It begins with the FMC, Ricci, who is excited to take on the lead role in her family’s traveling troupe performance. However, it is soon apparent that Ricci can open portals to other realms. We are introduced to two other main characters, Lela, a fae who hasn’t come of age yet and is worried about the prophecy of the portal opening, and Callen, an apprentice mage who brews potions to help his master find portals. Their stories intertwine and weave a layered narrative.

I love the found family trope and this book brings it! The relationships between the characters were fantastic. I loved that each main character had flaws and unique strengths—the acting theme was so much fun! This is a great YA fantasy read. I did get frustrated with the characters at certain points but the main characters are young and acted appropriately. I cannot wait for book two to see where Hamblin takes us!

A clean, sweet YA portal fantasy and romance which follows three POVs, thus characters of Ricci, Lela and Callen.

I loved this story and how the characters went about their own story in this and how they became friends in the situation which they found themselves in. I loved the bond between Lela and Ricci, it was the sweetest! The romance was cute and cozy and I think I liked Ricci and Callen’s more than Lela and her best friends. That’s my opinion but both were well written!!
The world building was rich and I loved being in this world despite everything!

If you love:
⚜️Enemies to more
⚜️Friends to more
⚜️Evil versus good
⚜️Found Family
⚜️Magic, faes, mages
⚜️Portal fantasy magic
⚜️Prophecies
⚜️YA clean romance
Then this is for you!!

I received an ARC and these are my own thoughts on the story!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sorcery and Stagecraft by Kristin L. Hamblin, set to release March 14, 2024.
I was so lucky to be chosen to read the ARC of Kristin Hamblins new book! From the second I saw the synopsis and cover art, I was sold!

Now onto the review, when I started this book I was immediately engulfed in the characters, and the interconnectedness of the worlds! I’d put the book down, and continue to think about it (which rarely happens for me). As the story continued, I had so much anxiety on what was going to happen, and where the story would go! I’m so excited for more books in this season, and to see more of these characters (specifically Oren)! I’ve read all of Kristin’s work, and can say without a doubt that I am a huge fan! She is so brilliantly talented! Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC!

This story is triple POV and a lovely YA, including friendship, magical realms, romance, demons, faes, and mages.

I enjoyed the world building and the heartwarming romance. The ending was also left with an opening as though there could be another book, I may be wrong, but I would love to know more about Ricci parents and their relationship.

While performing in her families travelling troupe, Ricci discovers she can open portals into other worlds, at first believing it is just an illusion.

Ricci opens up a portal into the world of fae, meeting Lela and turning Lela and her own world into peril.

Ricci also ends up dragging Callen into chaos, an apprentice mage, looking for ways to open other worlds to appease his master.

The three become friends and help to save their worlds from a prophecy unleashed.

What a beautiful captivating story. I fell in love the characters , the growth and friendships they created. Ricci and her family travel thru the markets performing acts, until one day Ricci accidentally casts an "illusion" , suddenly feeling way too real of a scene. Turns out she's a portal opener, a forbidden magic. Trying to keep her magic a secret and learning more about it, Ricci finds herself venturing into the fae realm where she meets Lela a fae. The fae realm is on high alert since Ricci opened the portal first, gongs ringing in warning of the humans coming back to end them. Together Ricci & Lela learn more about the connections of the world's. This book has 3 POVs. Adding in Callen a mage apprentice who is helping his Master learn more about teleporting. So when he sees Riccis illusion during a show , suddenly he's curious.
I highly recommend this captivating adventure read.

This book was absolutely PHENOMENAL!! I adored the three POVs, which blended together beautifully, We set out with Ricci, a traveling performer, and her family as starts to realize there is more to her performances than there seems. I was swept away in her love of acting and her family. Lela is a total badass that you can’t help but love and her relationship with Oren is chef kisses! One of my favorites though is Callen, the mage apprentice. His character development was so well done. The plot was so full of twists and turns that you cant help but keep reading! If you love found family, portals, magic, clean romance, look no further!!! This was one of my absolute favorite reads so far this year and cannot wait for book two!

This was such a fun YA fantasy! The world building was simple and easy to follow and it immediately pulls you into the story. It was full of humans, fae, mages and demons, plus the magic was awesome!

I loved having all three MC’s povs! It was perfect to understand the differences between fae, humans and mages and how each of them were raised differently.

The romance was great! It wasn’t the main focus of the story but had just enough to keep me invested in the characters and wondering what was going to happen between them. I’m really hoping we get to see more of them in future books!

Overall a great YA fantasy and highly recommend!

Thank you to the author for sending me a copy to review!

I was starting to feel slumpy from reading several chunky SFF books in rapid succession, so I picked up Sorcery and Stagecraft. The books I've previously read by the author have been quick and enjoyable reads, and this was no exception. It was an absolute delight! I loved seeing characters from such wildly different backgrounds come together. The romance, which was not the forefront of the story, was sweet; I loved the friendship that developed between Ricci and Lela. I really appreciated that, while this is the first in a series, the story is self-contained. Though some heavier themes were touched on, this was overall a lighthearted book that I flew through. Definitely my favorite I've read by her, and I can't wait to read the next one!

I have been looking forward to this book ever since I first heard about it and I was not disappointed! This book has magic, potions, fae, portals, healing, friendship, love, family, and so much more. This is a clean romantasy so there is not spice in it, but I love the touches of love that are included. The story line is completely captivating from the beginning and it is a pretty fast paced book. I am a sucker for strong female characters and this book has two! This book is the first in a series, but it is also a standalone so it ends with a few unanswered questions without any major cliffhangers.
✨ Thank you, Kristin, for getting the chance to ARC read this wonderful book! 💙
