A Realm Divided
A Legacy Unraveled
A Darkness Awakened

After discovering her true heritage, Avalynn stands at a crossroads. She was raised in the Stromm palace as the heir to the throne, but now knows it was all a lie. Armed with the sword of power forged by her ancestors, Avalynn must rally the Sublands and face the darkness rising from her former home.

But the greatest threat is not the cruel king she thought was her father, nor the fae warriors at his command—it is Mateo, the hunter she betrayed. Now that he is stepping into his birthright, Mateo is being consumed by his newfound power and the manipulations of his true mother. As the queen awakens deadly dragons long thought extinct from the icy reaches of the far north, Mateo is caught in a battle between his heart and his bloodline.

With the prophecy looming over them, Avalynn and Mateo are fated to stand together or fall apart. As dragons soar and Houses crumble, Avalynn must confront the darkness within Mateo before both of their destinies are sealed forever.

In a realm on the brink of war, will love be enough to save them, or will the shadows swallow them whole?

Rose Garcia’s “A Shadow Falls” is the continuation of her epic fantasy romance series, Bloodlines Legacy, and picks up right where the first one left off.

Mateo and Avalynn, our main characters, obviously had a lot to work through, especially after everything that was revealed in the first book.

They’re both struggling with their new identities, and all of the changes that have happened in such a short amount of time. And no spoilers, but let’s just say they handle things in very different ways.

On one hand, Mateo’s behavior and personality changed drastically, but I promise there’s a reason for it. Avalynn, on the other hand, went through a lot of amazing character development.

Now that I’ve finished “A Shadow Falls,” I’ve become even more hooked on this world and these characters. Rose Garcia is such a talented author, and I highly recommend giving her books a chance if you’re a fantasy fan!

A Shadow Falls continues Mateo and Avalynn's story. Book one ended with a jaw dropping cliffhanger that few could have seen coming. Book 2 picks up with a prologue that frankly...left me confused. But eventually the pieces started coming together. When the title is mentioned near the end of the prologue...I got chills. Lol
This book has a slow beginning but as it moves forward it gains it's footing and becomes really interesting. Mateo is being manipulated little by little. Avalynn is facing danger at every turn as she is the last Strong and must fight for herself, her people and her heart.
If you enjoyed book one do not miss out on this sequel!!
Can't wait to find out what happens next!

I couldn't wait to dive into this book. Being "new" to me, Rose Garcia blew my freaking mind with the first book in this series, so much so, I was literally agog! Her writing style, her ability to pull the wool over my eyes, her characters, her plot and good heavens, THOSE TWISTS sure pulled the rug right out under me! I landed squarely on my rump, the events swirling around my head, best book headache ever! I must impress how I much I enjoyed these books, how Ms Garcia catches me in her snare from the beginning, from the prologue to the end, I I was in for a bumpy ride, loving all the bruises I accumulated along the way. Bizarre? Perhaps. But if you've read it or read it, you'll understand that every bruise is accepted with relish!

The prologue gives invaluable insight into the how and the why of Gabriella, Leaf, Manny and Sonia. Once more, very powerful. Once more blowing me away with the intensity, the dramatic events that make up this prologue. And this intensity continues, every word, every deed, every thought, burrowing deeper within me. The plot is so much more complicated than meets the eye, it's beauty is in the simplicity of the authors telling, the ease of reading, taking me by surprise time and again. As the story unfolded, the villains stand out, although, WHO the bigger evil is is wrapped up in mire, perfectly bogging me down, as I wade through each event, so carefully placed, so well executed, keeping me on a string and pulling the reigns subtly. And then she adds in Dragons and I'm lost, I'm dunked into another layer of awesome.

The die is cast and set for Avalynn and Matteo with the revelations from the previous book, but, even though they grudgingly accept their "new" reality, the guilt Avalynn feels is almost suffocating, the betrayal Matteo feels IS suffocating! And now he's stuck in a place where everyone has a hidden agenda, playing him, lying to him and he has to decipher truth from fact, he has a resolve to help the Sublands, but who to trust is dubious to say the least! As he said, "In this palace, where betrayal comes as naturally as breathing" But Matteo is smart, not easily duped by sweet talk and idle promises. Swayed yes, but not blinded. He embarks on a dangerous course of action, a game to outplay the game, a plot within a plot.... Good lordie, the king and queen are as powerhungry as they come! They will strive to be a force by whatever means, caring nothing of others, even their children, who are all pawns to them. Manipulating, coercing, twisting, deviously, ANYTHING goes! No wonder Matteo is so at odds, unsure, apprehensive. I caught myself yelling "NO" when the sorry excuse for a mother and Raelor did THAT to him. With each subsequent thought and deed, my "no" became louder and stronger....And Avalynn is in no better a situation, who to trust, who not to....A magic is at work, not only for Avalynn, who's slowly finding the depth of her magic but Matteo, who's wrapped in a magic so strong, he's lost. It broke my heart seeing his inner struggles, his inner convictions, his inner strife. From the Sublands to the palace, to the Wild North, Matteo and Avalynn come together, not by choice but by deed, to the uncertainty of a quest, to seek the dragons. But heck, THAT didn't go as planned! What an incredible, imaginative, vivid story! That "no" I mentioned earlier? Well, shizer! I was screaming it! What I I was so thrilled about, Matteo's childhood friends joined them, the loyalty and friendship Lirien and Gareth engulfes me like a warm balm. But their fate remains shrouded...as does Avalynn'.

So , in conclusion, from the prologue, continuing throughout, this immensely talented author, shows her power and prowess with words, to catch me like a spider in her web, to spin her silk around me in a cocoon, trapping me soundly. But, this is a web I DON'T want to escape, this is a web I've laid down in, willingly, while she draws out every emotion in me! As in book 1, my eyes grew larger and larger, my stomach churled, my teeth ached from the tension and surprisingly events in the last few chapters, I was floored, I was in shock, I was hanging on to each word like a mountaineer clinging to a precipice, I was was so under Ms Garcia's spell. Another read of sheer exhilaration and pleasure, another read where I'm literally salivating for the next book!

Rose Garcia's writing has once again left me with a book hangover that won't go away any time soon.

Book 2 in the Bloodline Legacy saga continues where A Storm Rises left off. We are once again reunited with Mateo and Avalynn, and are plunged into their dual point of view as they struggle to adjust to their new circumstances. Both seem to be struggling as they realise the extent of the choices and actions, as well as navigating who they can trust as tensions mount and the people of Faevenly prepare for war.

Seeing Avalynn in a different setting and surrounded by different characters, really showed her in a different light, and she is now one of my favourite characters. A readers hate to love relationship 😊🖤❤️ There is no brushing away her past actions rather she admits her wrongs and tries to learn from her mistakes, and tries to earn the trust of the Sublanders through her actions. On the other hand, I was distraught about what happened to Mateo, and his inner conflict was evident. As he tries to do good and outplay the game that has already been set, he is overcome by dark magic, leading him to betray his identity.

I kept looking for some shift in who had the upper hand, but I was disappointed because the darkness overpowered the narrative. This book was much more plot-driven than the previous one, which focused on character development. But because most of the characters had already been established, I found this a more exhilarating read with a lot more making sense as the plot unravelled and the characters continued to develop.

I was excited to see more of the characters that were only briefly introduced in the first novel, as well as be introduced to some new ones. Mateo's friends Gareth and Lirien stole the show for me; they brought a light-heartedness while also demonstrating determination and loyalty to their friend, beliefs, and people. I really want to see more of them as the series continues. Love them 🩷

We are also introduced to the dwarf Keeth, who at first appears brutal, obeying the rule of Stromm palace, but ultimately is thoughtful in a gruff way and does not take his duties lightly. He's a really interesting character, and I'm curious what role he's going to play in the next book.

If amazing twists, high stakes, wonderful characters, and an unpredictable prophecy weren't enough, Garcia added dragons. These creatures, neither good nor bad, add a new dynamic to the story, and I can't wait to see how they play out in the coming chapters. The tension had me gnashing my teeth together as I wondered how things would turn out, and as I came closer to the end, I began chanting "please say this is going to work out, please give me an answer before the end". Nope, that's not happening!

I can't decide if Rose Garcia is cruel or a genius.
(Answer: Absolute genius! 🩷)

I now have to wait a year for the next book 😭

I’d thank to thank Rose Garcia and her team for giving me the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

I try to keep my reviews as spoiler free as possible.

A Shadow Falls, book 2 in this ongoing fantasy series, definitely kicked up the fantasy vibes from book one. And I’m always excited when dragons are involved!

We start the book with Avalynn learning more about her gifts and powers and how to use and control them. She not only has the blue power we saw in book 1, but can spirit walk and communicate with ghosts — both of which I really hope we see more of in the coming books. There are so many opportunities for cool things to be done with those abilities.

I really enjoyed the quest that brings Avalynn and Mateo together again on a mission. This time with Gareth and Lirien (and a new character) too. I enjoyed the entire premise of the Wild North, and the high stakes time limit they have there.

My anxiety continued to increase as the story progressed, as we as see Mateo slip farther and farther from who he is and more deeply under the Stromm influence. This comes to a head near the end of the book when he makes a shocking choice that really shows how deeply influenced he’s become and how much of himself he’s lost. But we keep seeing his true self break through from time to time, so I have to believe his spirit is strong enough to eventually win out!

This one ends on a bigger cliff hanger than book one, and I’m ready for book three right now! I need to know what happened to those left in the Wild North! How dare it end the way it did!

Also we have some holes to fill in with Lady Verona! I always knew SOMETHING was up, but now I have even more questions than answers!

Overall, book two was even better than book one. And now I’m impatient for book three!

First, thank you, Rose Garcia, for the ARC of A Shadow Rises. I could not put this book down! Book One ended on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger (one I did not see coming!), and Book Two picks up right where Book One ended. I love the connection to Garcia’s other series, Fae Bloodlines, but you don’t have to read that series to enjoy this one!

“Faith is a warrior” (Garcia, 2025).

A Shadow Falls follows Mateo and Avalynn as they navigate their new roles in Faevenly. They deal with conflicting emotions and the fallout from the Hunt in book one. They struggle with feelings of being enough and belonging. Then, toss in some dragons, curses, a road trip, villains (downright evil and morally grey), ghosts, and a prophecy, and you have an incredible, action-packed story. This book was a wild ride. Garcia uses multiple POVs that are easy to follow, and her writing is entirely captivating. I thought I knew where the story was going, and then Garcia did her amazing author magic and took the story in a direction I never expected!

Something I love about Garcia’s Faevenly world is that she deftly weaves Mexican culture into the story. It is refreshing to see diversity in fantasy! She also does a wonderful job of creating flawed characters who evolve over the course of the story—there are no special snowflakes with hero complexes.

I don’t want to give anything away simply because Garcia is an incredible storyteller and world-builder, and I want you to experience her tale without any spoilers. I highly recommend this series for epic fantasy fans.

I'm going with 4.5 stars for this book and rounding up to 5 because that's how math works.

Garcia started this book right where book 1 ended. Avalynn and Mateo were separated, not only by class but also by distrust. The novel was an emotional roller coaster. Ups and downs. Hope and anger. Passion and angst.

More time was spent with Mateo's friends as they journeyed with Avalynn. I think a lot of authors would focus on her being the Only One and having everyone accept her because of that. Garcia showed what I believe would be more likely. Mateo's friends and family don't trust her because of what she did to Mateo, and their arcs feel like they will be enemies to friends.

This book introduced the dragons, not just as vengeful beasts, but as creatures of intelligence. And I love it when dragons are portrayed that way.

I wasn't sure how everyone recognized Avalynn so quickly. She changed from a high fae to a half-human. Each time, it pulled me out of the story while I contemplated the likelihood.

Once again, I found the world intriguing, I loved the Enbarr, and I can't wait to see how Garcia concludes this series.

Rose Garcia has done it again! A shadow Falls captured my undivided attention from beginning to end. We watch Avalynn and Mateo individually struggle with their new identity and new expectations and thoughts of each other. I’m definitely rooting for them to find their way back to each other. Avalynn, even after finding out her history, seems to embrace who she is and always has been. Her character remains steady and determined. Mateo struggles with the balance of who he was and who he is, with the help of a gift from his Queen mother. And don’t get me started on what I think of Lysandra Stromm . I love that even those who want to hate Avalynn still seem to realize her light and desire to do what’s right while they see Mateo unraveling and falling into someone he isn’t. But is this who Mateo really is or is meant to be? Can these two find their way back to each other? What else does Lysandra have up her dirty sleeve? I’m completely hooked and ready for more of this story!

I really liked most of this book. Mateo's arc as he discovers his true identity and gets manipulated into embracing it is just *chef's kiss.* The politics, intrigue, world building, and dragons are great too. I had a really hard time with Avalynn's character, though. She doesn't seem conflicted at all about her identity change, and I can't understand why she . There is an intriguing cliff hanger, but the third book isn't out yet so I'll have to wait to see how it ends.

I love Rose Garcia’s stories. She always develops a world that unique and amazing. This world is no different. We basically begin this book where the last one leaves off. We see Avalynn and Mateo thrown into different worlds that neither know anything about. One has support to grow and become what they are needing to do, while the other has trickery and deceit nipping at their heels. One thing that caused the story to drag just a tiny bit for me was the fact how quickly everyone outside of the “evil” forces believe the lies and turn on anything good. It caused me to honestly be angry for the one they are turning against. But honestly, that could just be my personal feelings getting in the way. There are twists and turns that have you on the edge of your seat. The story is very well written and developed. We get to the end of this book and goodness it had me on the edge of my seat as it ends in a major cliffhanger. I honestly cannot wait to see what is going to happen next.

This was a great follow up the A Storm Rises. I enjoyed seeing Avalynn and Mateo coming to terms with the individual paths they are on. I specifically loved seeing Avalynn’s growth in this book. I just know her arc is going to be amazing.

I know this is a me thing but Mateo’s attitude switch was so frustrating. I know it has to happen for his overall development but I missed his kind personality that he had in the first book 😭 I wanted to throttle him in this one 😂 I’m very interested to see how he will progress in the later books.

I think this did feel like a middle of a series book that’s a bridge to the rest of the series but I still enjoyed this. Not as much as the first book as I thought the plot kind of meandered at times, but I was still engaged. I loved the inclusion of dragons! They were brought up briefly in A Storm rises but they really come alive in this sequel.

I look forward to the next book and I will be seated when it releases!

You will need to read the first book in this series, A Storm Rises.

This picks up right where it left off in A Storm Rises. It is full of twists and turns. This story includes dragons.

Mateo is now a Stromm Prince. Avalynn is now a Sublander. Both roles have switched, and both still have feelings for each other. One has a destiny, and the other wears a curse.

You have new and old characters in the story. There are things that unfold, and things are explained. The story was easy to follow and quick to read. The story catches your attention and keeps you wanting more.

The dragons were a nice addition, and I look forward to reading more about them in the next book. The story flows well and is easy to follow. This was another great read. It does leave off on a cliffhanger. I am eagerly waiting for three, A Legacy Forged.

Wow! This is the 2nd book in the Bloodline Legacy series. Avalynn and Mateos roles are reversed. Avalynn is the only serving Strong left and Mateo is the Prince of Stromm. Mateo sets out on a mission to acquire the one thing his "mother" believes will save the Stromm palace, with the dwarf Keeth. They run into Avalynn and his 2 friends from the Sublands, Gareth and Lirien. Together, they travel to the Wild North where the Dragons are. But there are stipulations into crossing the border between Faevenly and the Wild North. Will they all come back alive and intact? Or will they be lost forever?

I absolutely loved this sequel!!! It's fast paced and filled with everything you want! All the feels, love, friendship, heartbreak and betrayal. Patiently waiting for book 3!

Rose Garcia has yet again built an alluringly dangerous world that this delightful fool can not get enough of.

Join Avalynn and Mateo as they embark on their quests while learning what their newly revealed identities truly mean. One for the ages, and quite literally, as we get to meet and fall in love with familiar and new characters alike.

With dragons, prophecies, treachery, and intrigue, A Shadow Falls had me enthralled the entire time.

The fate of Faevenly is threatened, and the Only One is destined to save it, but will the ultimate forces at work allow her? I can't wait to find out in A Legacy Forged!

Book two and we pick up from where we left off! The roles have been reversed and Mateo is now a Stromm Prince and Avalynn is now a Sublander and are now separated. Mateo is now under the control of his evil mother and is changing and not for the better whilst Avalynn tries to unit the Sublanders to rise up and face the oncoming darkness. The world building continues to enthral whilst the gripping and enthralling storyline draws you in close and has you glued to the pages. It’s one hell of a read, emotional and full of action, drama, danger, twists and turns and then there’s the dragons, I love dragons!! Can’t wait to see what happens n the next book.

Whoo! These poor characters are dealing with a lot! Mateo is dealing with a creeping darkness, and Avalynn hasn’t made the best choices, so she’s having to deal with the consequences and atone for them. They aren’t always successful in their battles, but they keep on persevering. We still have that prophecy causing some strife too. An intriguing tale so far! Enjoying the different character relationships going on, and the world is an interesting one; we got dragons! Oh man, I do get annoyed at these characters sometimes, but I can see the path! This story is ramping up; looking forward to the next book!

This picks up right after the end of book one, be sure to read it first so you know what's going on.

Mateo and Avalynn have switched places and now have to find their way. Can they trust those around them or each other? So much has changed and yet hasn't. You have the old characters along with some new ones, and and the dragons. Yes, there are dragons! So much is happening and explained, and yet I don't think we have all the answers just yet. I can't wait for book three to see how this all wraps up.

This was a very enjoyable and fast passed sequel to A Storm Rises! The storyline was easy to follow and the twist and turns were captivating! I loved Avalynn’s growth and watching her find herself. My favorite character was Mateo in this one, I loved and hated his inner turmoil and how his character developed. Manipulation disguised as caring that turns you into someone you don’t recognize, someone who would hurt those that truly love you. I really enjoyed this read and am excited for the third installment!

This book starts with Avalynn in the Sublands and Mateo at the palace near Summit Range. Mateo is trying to do what he can to help his former family while he is deciding what to do with his blood family. Avalynn is heartbroken over betraying Mateo for nothing and is making plans to bring him home to the Sublands. The Stromm family and Raelor continue on their machinations. Will the queen be able yo bring Mateo to her side and forgo the Sublands? Will Mateo forgive Avalynn? An adventure waits in this edition and it does not disappoint! I really can’t wait for the next installment!

This series is continuing right where we want it to, going right into fight for freedom and save the liver and still trying to figure out quite how her prophecy fits into her destiny she wants. Love the growth of these characters and loving how she is spending more time with his family and friends trying to get him back I will love to see how this author concludes this series! I love the way the dragons are portrayed in these books not as just beasts but beautiful and intelligent

I expected pain and Rose Garcia delivered. I find it very interesting, the difference in manipulation tactics between Celyse's mother and Matteo's mother. While one pushed their daughter away making the daughter want to be better for her, the other uses love and affection.
The parallels between Matteo and Avalynn are so painful but intriguing. They were both lied to and they both accepted their new name but to different extents. This series might be my favorite favenly series.

I really enjoyed this series. The characters are great oh and dragons. Avalynn is such a strong woman. Aye Mateo why can't he believe she really is sorry for what she did. Then that necklace is changing him, he was such a good person. His mother the queen is so evil along with Raelor. Oh my goddess I couldn't believe he told Teyocel to get rid of her. I was OH NO.. he didn't do that. Can wait to read the next book to find out what happens.

Wild ride!

Loved the seamless transition into this book from where book one leaves off. Avalynn and Mateo are so twisted up with everything that has happened that they jump straight into the fire without minding their feet, and I’m here for it! They are on a different hunt now and with forces in play beyond their control, the wild ride they take makes for an excellent read. Can’t wait for book three!

Well, crap. That was a lot in not a lot of book.

Still reeling from the revelations of the prior book, Avalynn and Mateo are trying to settle into their new realities, but both struggle in different ways. It doesn't help that every time their paths cross, their chemistry remains undeniable even if betrayal cuts deep.

Add into a conniving Fae Queen, some political drama, and a hunt for dragon, and it was bound to be a crazy ride. Interesting to what hits will land next book.

A Shadow Falls, book 2 in the Bloodlines Legacy series, was a great read. Action-packed and more points of view.

Mateo has really changed and Avalynn can’t seem to reach him. His mother, Queen Lysandra, is constantly plotting with her witch, Raelor. Between her need for control and Mateo’s growing need for power and his birthright, a lot happened in this book. It got better the more I read!

I’m really looking forward to book 3!

What a incredible follow up to book one which was left on such a cliff hanger. Luckily I didn’t have long to wait. This book is filled with spine chilling adventure, angst, anger and torment. The king and queen really know how to cause chaos at every turn. I struggled to put this book down to go to work. It was so so good. Yet again such epic world building with so much more content added it’s really addictive.

A Shadow Falls(Bloodlines Legacy #2) by Rose Garcia is a very well written book that I definitely recommend. In this book Avalynn and Mateo discover their true heritages. In a realm on the brink of war will love be enough to save them or will the shadows swallow them whole? None of the books I by this writer has ever disappointed. I look forward to reading more of her books
