Every family has secrets, but with Tacari and Ashton, these secrets run deep. What happens when two people who think they know everything about each other find out that they don’t know some of the most important things? When certain things come to the light, love is lost and the ugly truth is revealed. Down For the Count is a drama filled ride about lust, hate, passion, and most importantly true love!
This is the beginning of what appears to be a great series. There's secrets and more secrets spilling out all over the place. Everybody is telling each other's secrets, because they don't want Ashton and Tacari to be together. We all have some secrets and messed up relatives, but this dysfunctional family really takes the cake. Part 2 here I come.
with a family like this who in the world need enemies? when I first started this story I didn't think I was going to like it but I grew to love Tacari and Ash..... there are so many twist and turns to this story I can't wait to read Part 2
this book is a great read from the very beginning, the way the story unfolds was some stuff for you it kept me on the edge of my seat until the end.................it got a be a pt2 coming........u did yo thang with this one Nicole Shepard............Congrats boo
This book was off the chain from beginning to end! You would think that you would see shit like this on the regular smh but this shit here is straight up crazy! I rated this book a 5 star because the author bought her A game all the way. I would recommend his read to anybody who want to read urban literature!
I read this book twice so that I can read the whole series at once but all I can say is this family is crazy if you love crazy families this is the story for you cause everyone in this book is crazy in some type of way.
I love this book! I can not wait to read the rest to see how it turns out ! This book was a great read!It was do good that I read it in less than 3 hours! 5stars!!!!!
This book was good from the first page to the end lord tacari is a mess but Ashton loves her and hopefully they can work thru all the craziness around them and stay together I’m rooting for them
I swear this is one dysfunctional ass family. Tacari is something else! Even though she talked a lot of trash, I liked the fact that she didn't put up with anything regardless of who it came from. Ash was able to deal with Tacari but I think they fit well together. Kyree jealous?! Damn! His baby momma ain't worth a damn and I was glad he stepped up to take care of his child even though he's so young. The secrets revealed though. Val was getting it in back in the day. I wanna know what's in the medicine cabinet and why they put Ashley on such a high pedestal. Even though Tacari decided to fill Ash in he flipped like it was her fault. Now I'm ready for part 2 to see what other secrets begin to unfold and what impact it has on those involved.
This was a great debut from Nicole. I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. This family is very much considered as dysfunctional.Tacari & Ashton are off the chain. Then at the end it was just very funny with what was revealed, Kyree is a trip also. I just can't do it with this family they have to many secrets. Everyone sleeping with the wrong people and not the right ones. Baby Jesus please be with all these fools. I'm mad you left us hanging with the story line like that. Hopefully part 2 won't take long. If you haven't read it or thinking about buying it go for it cause you missing the DRAMA!!!!
Nicole Shephard delivers a gripping debut with "Down For the Count". By blending street elements with family issues, she is able to tie in situations that readers from all walks of life will surely relate to. Each character has their own story, yet they all blend together to tie in as one complete and cohesive read. The intro is extremely intriguing and then the story is told from the past and works it's way forward. The story is gritty while still believable and realistic. Street fiction at its finest. Great job!
This book was on fire from the beginning to the end. To be in a family with so many skeletons in the closet. I was so in shock when everybody started spilling the beans on one another all because they didn't want to see Ashton & Tacari together. Why get mad at someone because you know that they know something about you? Never do things that you will be ashamed of later. If you want to hear about Ashton family secrets I recommend this book to you. The party don't stop here....be sure to read Part 2. Great job Nicolle Shephard!!
This book was great from beginning to the end. I felt a strong connection with Ashton. I felt like the characters were real people. The things talked about in this book are like real events some hit close to home and that is what made this a 5 star book for me. For this to be a new author this book was amazing and I am looking forward to the next book.
I really didn't enjoy this like I thought I would. This may have been part of the setting, but the overuse of the word "nigga" took away from the book. By the end, I was getting offended. There will be some people who will say that if it offended me, I should have stopped reading. A book has to be pretty awful for me to not finish. But, I won't be reading anymore in this series.
This book was awesome. I had never read a book by Nicole. There was so much drama and the book is about everyday life. There are things in this book people can relate to. Also shows how small the world can be. I will definitely be purchasing part 2.
This was an okay read not what I expected. The one thing that turned me off was all the unnecessary cursing, who talks like that? The whole family was dysfunctional it appears everyone was related to each other some kind of way. I won't say anymore I don't want to give out to much info.
This fast-paced, action packed book has me wanting to see where this goes. I want more and I want to know exactly where this author is going to take the story and how it will all come together. I'm still wondering what Tacari went to jail for...
Fast-paced read. Tacari is hard-core & Ash is the right one for her...Many secrets exposed, lives disrupted & I'm sure there's more drama to come as I brace myself for part 2
