FIVE HOCKEY STARS.

"You enchant me ..."

description

Brenda Rothert certainly delivered the goods with this novel, everything about it felt designed perfectly for my reading tastes and I was left feeling like i'd had my cake and eaten it. I'm never going to tire of my addiction to a sexy romance book and this author lovingly provided a reading escape that I've been craving. I wasn't at all surprised that I fell for this novel as I loved the two previous books of this series and so I was already expecting to prove myself right and enjoy what this author would bring to the third book in the 'fire on ice' series. Brenda Rothert writes steamy-dreamy romances that are superbly written, heartfelt and loveable. You won't find any complaints in this review, Brenda Rothert is an author that I have grown to adore.

What's it all about?
After a serious injury on the ice, NHL star Luke Hudson is now on the road to recovery. Part of his rehabilitation means he has to start back to basics and recover at a minor league club. Little did he know that his determination wouldn't be his only focus, when Luke meets the feisty, red headed trainer, Adella 'Dell' Price he can't quite believe how she makes him want more and as the story develops so does the growing feelings between Luke and Dell. But this couple encounter more difficulties than would be expected especially when a non fraternisation policy is enforced putting a stop to their growing chemistry and need for each other. Jump aboard this gorgeous romance and fall in love alongside the irresistible Luke Hudson, you won't regret it, not for a minute.

What did I love?
It's no secret that I love a sports themed romance and one that is hockey related is even more of a win win. Brenda Rothert created two extremely likeable characters coupled with a great plot and fabulous erotic story telling. There was nothing about his book that didn't appeal to me. If like me you like a slow burn romance with a believable storyline then you will adore this book. The chemistry and realistic development of relationship really won me over and I never once wanted to skip over a scene or felt distracted from the novel instead I felt like I couldn't wait to get back to reading this gorgeous romantic story and escape into my kindle. Brenda Rothert certainly puts the 's' in the sexy, her erotic scenes may not be the dirtiest or most kinky that I have read but they definitely left an impression, this author can write with a sensuality that gets the toes curling and heart thumping and I must admit I'll never be looking at a washing machine or shower again in the same way. Rothert's books have the undeniable blush factor coupled with a swoony romance factor that brings home the butterflies that I'm always on the look out for. As for the characters there was a predictability with the man-whore turned one woman man hero, but don't be put off I for one can't get enough of re telling those type of characters as for the heroine she was a feisty, but vulnerable and extremely likeable single mum with a gorgeous best friend that I'm already hoping the author will write a book for. All in all I was blown away by this third instalment to the 'Fire on ice' series and I can gladly confess that Luke Hudson won my heart.

Final thoughts ...
This book easily kept me glued to my kindle and if it wasn't for the 6AM alarm clock waiting to drag me out of bed for work I would have devoured this lovely book in one sitting. Brenda Rothert creates stories that suck you right into the middle of the action and make you fall helplessly in love. If you like well written romances with characters that will leave you with a smile on your face then you don't want to miss out on this series. I'm already getting ready to beg this author to continue on with this series I'm not ready to say goodbye to it just yet. Go grab it readers, enjoy ... Kisses.

Boy! I miss Miss Rothert's book. It has been a while since I picked up her books. She has this talent writing a good sport romance. Especially hockey.

Edge is contemporary romance between playboy hockey player and a single mom. Although there are a lot of loop holes in the story, I enjoyed the writing. It flowed flawlessly.

The sex is not that graphic but inserted in the right time in the story. The characters can be developed much better, but it is enough for the story to carry.

Overall an enjoyable reading.

Edge

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 EDGE STARS ☆☆☆☆☆

Brenda Rothert blew me away with Edge. This third installment hands down is my favorite of The Fire On Ice Series. Move over Ryke, a new NHL hockey player is stealing the spotlight and it's none other than your best friend, Luke Hudson. When a fatal blow left him injured and sent to the minors, Luke Hudson did not expect his new conditioning to be a red head beauty. Will this new trainer give Luke the edge on and off the ice?

Luke Hudson stole my heart in this book. I could not put this book down and ended up devouring it in one sitting. Luke's charisma, personality, and dirty talks will have any woman sighing and swooning!!! One needs to fan oneself especially with those steamy scenes that Brenda had written. Let me just tell you, Brenda shocked me when she included a sensual bet scene in the locker room and that was just the beginning sample of the new direction Brenda has took. Luke's alpha male personality is just WOW!!! Brenda will have you chanting and screaming LUKE HUDSON...I LOVE YOU!!!!

Dell Pierce was just amazing!!! She was spunky and yet humble and down to earth. Having grown up with hockey players all her life, she can be considered one of the guys. She knows how these professional hockey players act in and off the ice rink. Nothing surprises Dell except when Luke Hudson entered her office. Oh Dell, I don't blame you at all...how could you not resist Luke Hudson?

Edge_1

The sexual chemistry between Dell and Luke was just simply HOT!!! This book had sexual tension down to a T. When Luke Hudson talks dirty and flirts with you, he will have you giggling like a school girl! Edge was just not about Luke getting his edge back for the Pros but also a man discovering his capability of letting love in. Dell did not help him get back in shape but she skated her way to his heart. As for Dell, how could you not love her. I just love how she cared for her family and was completely dedicated to her job. Did I not mention, Dell is a little risk taker? Dell shocked me when she followed through on a bet and those dirty talk and text messages... When she did those things, I could not help grinning on how Luke helped Dell get out of her comfort zone.

I want to thank Brenda Rothert for allowing me to beta read this book. When I first read this book, I was in awe of Brenda's writing and storytelling in this third installment. It was fresh and unlike her other books of the series. I was riveted with Luke and Dell's journey as friends to lovers story. Brenda will have readers guessing what will happen when there is a no fraternizing within their job. Hands down I think is EDGE is my favorite book of the series so far. Edge had it all from fun, playful sexy banter and finding and taking a chance at love.

I am a HUGE fan of Brenda Rothert’s Fire on Ice series. I was a hot mess after her first book and wanted so much more of Ryke. But throughout the first two books, there was this blonde, hot hockey player that caught my attention – Luke Hudson. I was thrilled to hear Luke was getting his own book and Edge ROCKED!!

This series gets better and better. Luke Hudson is a hot, NHL hockey superstar known as a playboy who gets injured and must spend months recuperating in the minors. There he meets Adella (Dell) Price, the team’s trainer. Dell is a single mom with a limited but not so great history with men.

 photo Dell_zps028fe324.jpg
“I never even go on dates. Ever. This is why. Well, it’s one of the reasons. I’m just…awkward.” “If you’re awkward, I like awkward.”

The growth of Luke and Dell’s friendship and then relationship is sweet and slow, just enough to build this sexual tension that had me on the edge!! These two are faced with many forces that test their relationship from team rules of no fraternizing (their creative ways to “be together” were HOT and so much fun!) to the distance when Luke goes back to Chicago and then finally, an unforeseen obstacle that threatens to be the breaking point.

“You enchant me, Dell."

“I love you, sexy girl.”

Luke Hudson is one beautiful man(inside and out)…there is just no way I could choose between Ryke and Luke because they are both panty-dropping NHL Hotties with hearts of gold…THANK YOU BRENDA. I enjoy Hockey player stories and Fire on Ice is one of the best that I've read. I want more, please!

I love this series. What’s not to love? Fierce, gorgeous, Hockey heartthrobs, fun camaraderie and banter between the players, mix it up with a good dose of heat, heart, great characters and heart-warming, swoony romance…..and …like I said, what’s not to love?

It would take a very special woman indeed to pin down playboy Luke Hudson, and when Luke sent down to a Minor League team to train and recuperate from a knee injury sustained during a game, little did he know he would gain so much more than just a chance to get back in shape and re-join his team in the major leagues, he may even lose his heart in the process.

“But love is more than a word. It’s the action we take every day. Just like I’ll be faithful to you. I have to stand up for you. I won’t be able to sleep if I don’t. – Luke

Team Trainer Adella Price may just be that woman, but Dell has put her life on hold for the last 5 years to singlehandedly raise up her gorgeous son Kyler, with the help of her sassy and good friend Sadie that is, and any man wanting to steal Dell’s heart would have to steal Kyler’s as well. I loved Dell. She was such a beautiful, warm character and it’s easy to see why Luke was smitten with her.

“Help me…I’ve never done this.”
“You’re doing amazing.”

I enjoyed watching Luke and Dell’s relationship develop at a steady pace and despite the intense passion and chemistry between them, it never felt rushed. These two sizzled and who knew Luke was such a dirty talker….pass the fan!

Edge certainly had the heat factor, swoon factor and romance going on, but it is the warmth and development of the relationships as a whole that keeps me coming back to this series. Watching these tough as nails Hockey players break down their defences wins me over every time and interactions between Kyler and Luke completely melted my heart.

Catching up with Ryke and Kate was like checking in on old friends and once again, the banter between Ryke and Luke was priceless. No way was Ryke going to miss an opportunity to give Luke a ribbing over his feelings.

I’ve never, ever seen you like this over a woman. I thought you were gonna call her poopsie or some shit and rub noses with her.” – Ryke

Whilst Bound and Captive remain my favourite of the series so far, Edge didn’t disappoint. Brenda Rothert once again served us up a Hockey themed story with plenty of passion and a good helping of swoon. Just what is it about these Hockey players? Hmm silly question!

One of the best hockey themed books I have read
Luke a hot hockey player and Dell a single mom
This book can absolutely be read stand alone
Book 1 & 2 are about another couple

Watching Luke and Dell slowly embrace and build feeling for each other touched my heart!!

And Kyler was adorable

The epilogue was epic and so perfect

Ps now I want a book for Niko; the young hockey player with dreams of the NHL

I have to say that this lived up to all my expectations. I loved (almost) every minute of it.

I really liked Luke. From page one he was real and relate-able and just perfect. He HOT. He knew how to steam up the screen of my kindle.

I found Dell to be an interesting character. Initially, I wasn't sure I would like her, but she really grew on me. And I loved her and Luke together.

The one moment I didn't love was near the end but I'm not going to give it away. And just because I didn't love it didn't mean it was bad. It was just one of those moments where I was reading while covering my eyes and biting my nails.

I sincerely hope that Brenda Rothert continues with this Hockey team, because I just can't get enough of these guys!

4.75 out of 5 Stars

I just finished reading the final two books in this Fire on Ice series, Drive and Release and realized I hadn’t recorded this book on GoodReads. Well, of course that called for a reread as I didn’t want to do it from memory because as with all the previous books in this series, I loved it.
Luke Hudson is in the big leagues and one of the premier players on the team when he is ‘kneed’ by an opposing player.

(From Sporting Charts.com: Knee-on-knee collisions are very dangerous and often times result in significant knee injuries. A player who executes a knee-on-knee collision is more susceptible of a major or match penalty than a player who uses his knee only to stop an opponent. Intentional knee-on-knee hits often result in a suspension. Knee-on-knee hitting is considered to be a cheap shot and a dirty play by NHL players, and players who clearly hit using the knee can expect retaliation from opponents”

As anyone who knows hockey, this is a dirty play meant to injure and injure Luke it does. He is out of the game for months and before he can play at the major level, he has to do a stint of rehab in the minors. The trainer of the minor league team he is sent to is Adella, or better known as Della Price. Hockey is in her blood as her father is one of the best coaches in the league. I simply LOVED her. As a female in a predominantly male sport, she manages to strike just the right balance. She can trash talk with the best of them and most of the players kind of look at her as a little sister who fixes their booboos. She’d made a mistake a few years ago and gotten involved with a hockey player and now a single mother, doesn’t want to make that mistake again. So when Luke starts making the moves on her, she shuts him down right away. But Luke is persistent and she feels something for him she’s never felt before. But they still can’t do anything about their attraction as she is in a sense his employee as she helps him with his training to get back to the big leagues.
But when he’s called back up, well, that takes care of that issue and they act on their growing temptation.

Luke, and I really enjoyed him too, has really fallen hard for Dell. For the first time, hockey isn’t his number one focus.

So this book is how they overcome the obstacles in front of them and there are a few, to be together. I love both characters and a couple of secondary characters become the stars of their own book.

Everything connected with me in this book; Luke and Della, Ryker her son, her job, his hockey – just everything. This is a second read and it was just as good if not better than the first time I read it.

As I said in a previous review, Ms. Rothert has really done her research on hockey and it shows. This whole series has been such a great find and I look forward to reading more of her delicious books by this author.

Wow. I think I'm in love! I haven't read the first two books in this series, this is a standalone, but I know that if they were anything like Edge, than I totally missed out! Luke is a NHL player who gets injured in a dirty move. Part of his rehab is to play on a minor league team for a bit to make sure he's fully recovered. Dell is said teams trainer and she has ladyballs of steel! I loved her! The pair have an attraction at first sight, but Dell is gun shy of hockey players and doesn't want a relationship. Luke is discovering he feels more than lust for the lovely team trainer and isn't sure how to deal with those feelings. Things progress quite nicely and once Luke's time is up with the minor league, he and Dell decide to give it a go. They have a few rocky moments but eventually get into a groove. I really enjoyed watching their budding relationship unfold. Especially when they had sexy times. It was hot! I love me some hunky hockey players and Luke definitely fit that bill! ;) Throw in a psycho ex, a snarky and funny roommate, hilarious side characters in the form of more hunky hockey players, and an overprotective dad who just so happens to also be a NHL coach.... Yeah there was a lot here to keep me glued to my kindle till I got to the very end! Oh and what a ride it was! I really liked how both Luke and Dell interacted with their friends and team mates. I laughed a lot throughout this book and that's another thing I love about reading. This is my first book by Ms. Rothert and it will not be my last! Aside from a few editing errors, this book was perfection! Wity dialogue that was full of contractions (just how I like it ;)), a story line that was interesting and kept me entertained, sexy times to heat up the pages err kindle screen. What more could a girl want!? Oh yeah, HUNKY HOCKEY PLAYERS! Duh! ;)

I have really really enjoyed this series. The style and quality of writing is superb and the characters just grab your attention. I liked Luke in the other books but I LOVED him in this one. Gorgeous, lovely hero. As for Dell, she was strong , independent and straight talking. There was no messing around with these two. Ryke and Kate make appearances but this truly is Luke and Dell's story. And yes please Ms Rothert , I would love another book. Nico surely has a story to tell and Sadie is looking for a hero......
This is the best ice hockey series out there in my opinion. It's got drama, romance and packs more than a little heat. 5 sparkly hockey stars *****

I am loving me some hockey romances! I truly enjoyed this book. Luke was awesome! I loved how Dell also wasn't one to "play games" as she put it. My only complaint was that I wanted more! Luke was so awesome with her son, I wish we would have gotten more scenes with them two as well. I am a sucker for single parent romances! :)

I am LOVING this series. What started out as a freebie on my kindle has turned into books I can't get enough. The author does a great job at giving you a story with low drama and characters you root for. Gorgeous, protective male athletes and strong heroines... What more could you ask for?

This one really could have gone into skeevy with the whole player/trainer thing going on. Instead you could see the attraction build and knew that Luke was serious about Dell, even when he didn't want to be. It seems like one he let himself want Dell things were full speed ahead. I liked seeing the two of them figure out how to make a relationship work with their jobs and Dell's son. Once all the bumps were past the three of them made a great new family!

Im in love... sigh ....

Edge was the 1st Brenda Rothert book I had read. And I have to say, I have discovered a new favorite author. This book was fantastic. And I will go back and read the 1st 2 in this series, as well as her other books.

Hockey Player? -check
Alpha Male? -check
Dirty Talker? -check
Broody? -check
Bad Boy? -check
Bad Attitude? -check

Yes, Luke checks all my boxes. He was fantastic. The only way I would have loved him more was if he had been into some kink..Luke was the kind of guy that women chase after. The aloof bad boy that they want to tame. Women convince themselves that they are the one he will change for, but they are to easy, and don't make him work for it. So he uses them for what he can and then sends them on their way, and he leaves a trail of devastation in his wake...add into it his pro hockey player status, and well, Luke even had me a bit hot and bothered.

Dell is a team trainer for a minor league hockey team. She is tough and independent and she takes no mess from the guys she is surrounded by every day. She has a strict don't get involved with a hockey player rule, and much to the dismay of the players, she is steadfast and sticks to her guns. Until Luke....

Luke is sent down to the minor league team. He is made to go in order to rehab his knee, after he is taken out due to an intentional hit by a player from an opposing team. With revenge and healing on his mind, the last thing he expects is to loose his heart to the team trainer.

I absolutely loved how Luke ended up having a romantic side to him. Wait until you read about the things he comes up with. He had respect for Dell and her wishes. So he showed patience and creativity in his endeavor to win her over.

Edge takes you to the edge as Luke and Dell find their way to each other. There are a few plot twists along the way that I never expected, that kept me turning the pages. I never saw most of it coming. And not being able to predict what is going to happen is what makes a book good for me. Iam not a huge "fluff romance" fan, because they have a tendency to be alike.. but every once in a while I come across one that keeps me on my toes, and Edge did that.. kept me on my toes. And I loved it!

The writing in this novel is exhilarating. Rothert takes off skating, and you spend the entire novel out of breath. I read it in little more than a single sitting. The story itself is wildly imaginative and fiercely loveable. It is seamlessly put together, and presented in a manner that you can’t help but visualise. The hockey behind the novel is also solid. It was a complete rush. This is an emotionally profound novel. Rothert tells an incredibly racy love story while also tackling some very tough issues. Rothert definitely had me in tears more than once, and laughing out loud a great deal. There were also some moments that cause me to swoon.

Before I even start talking about the characters I should probably mention that I was hooked on the male lead when he was just a minor character in the first novel of the series. Now that he’s fully developed to lead the story, he’s absolutely unforgettable. He is beyond swoon-worthy. The female lead is definitely very unique as well. She is fighting to reconcile so many aspects of life that it amazes me that she’s still standing on her own two feet. Together, these two are unforgettable. Combine this with the strong secondary characters that Rothert brings forward and you have the perfect cast.

Overall, this was a fantastic novel. If I weren’t hooked on the series before I would be now. My final thoughts? Bring on the next please!

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

NHL Center Luke Hudson took one bad hit thanks to a jerk player and has been in rehab for two moths, before he is finally sent to continue his rehab with a minor league team. He knows he needs to put in the time, but it doesn't help that he wants it to be immediate and get back to his team.

When Luke meets the team trainer Adella "Dell" Price he enjoys seeing that she takes no guff from the men. What starts as flirtatious banter quickly builds into a friendship and although there is a no fraternizing rule, but Luke and Dell wish it was a line they could cross. When Luke gets called back to his team, they get a chance to be with one another if only for once. Luke misses Dell though and although she is a single mom, Luke begins to wonder if she maybe the one.

I loved this story. It took the time to develop the friendship between Luke and Dell. Dell is a woman trying to prove herself in a mans world and Luke admires it for her. Luke is a charmer, he has swagger but he is falling hard for Dell and it is out of his comfort zone. Brenda Rothert is a guaranteed page turning read where you are swept away by the characters, story, and enjoy living in their moment.

It's Luke's story!!!! *fangirl scream* Agghhhhh!!!!

In book two of the Fire on Ice series, Luke was injured on the ice. And now in book three, he is undergoing physical therapy and rehab in the minor league. He needs to prove himself to get back on his major league hockey team. Dell is one of the physical therapist/trainer's for the team. She has grown up around hockey and is use to being one of the boys. Luke and Dell instantly form a connection. But will it ever be anything more when there is a strict no fraternizing rule amongst the team?

I loved this story. Luke is such a guy's guy. His sense of humor was one of my favorite things about him. And Dell may be my favorite female lead of Brenda's. She smart and spunky. She made me smile on more than one occasion. This book definitely had a few shockers in it. In fact, at one point I found myself yelling "holy shit". This book slowly builds up steam which I love. And for fans of Ryke and Kate, you won't be disappointed with a few surprise appearances.

While reading the first chapter I thought this book was going to be boring but I was wrong. I really liked the first two books so I decided to continue no matter what. I personally love how this book still includes Ryke and Kate and the kids. I wish the book described Dell and Lukes wedding, Also that there was a little more to the end of the story. I overall thought this was a good book but, it was not as good as Bound. I enjoyed the twist to it specially because I never Thought John was Kyler dad and how he was threatening to take Dell's life. It melted my heart that Luke was willing to trade places with her. I can't wait to read the next book.

I was a beta reader for this book. Each time I got a new set of pages to read, I would tell myself I was going to skim what I already read, but each time I found myself reading every word even though I had already read it. And each time, it was just as good. Ryke is still my number one book boyfriend, but I did love Luke. The sexual tension between him and Dell was hot. Their banter, the sexting...their chemistry was perfect, whether they were together or not. The epilogue was amazing...a perfect ending to the story.

All I can say is Kyler! He 100% made this book a five star rating. Dell and Luke's story was all about overcoming adversity of different types. The strength they both showed both on and off the ice was perfect. The crazy baby daddy was a bit much but it didn't over shadow the true story of the boom, just helped open eyes a bit. I also loved how we got to see more of Ryke and Kate and their family.

I liked it but not as much as Ryke and Kate's story. Luke and Dell are well matched but their story was a little too sweet and perfect for me. There was no angst and I felt the drama near the end seemed a bit misplaced. However, I am enjoying this series. Now on to book 4.

I was so happy when I found out that Luke had his own book! I loved him from the beginning of the series. I really enjoyed getting to know him better. Then there's Dell his PT trainer. I instantly knew I would like her too. Luke and Dell were perfect for one another. I loved everything about them. 💙💙💙

Yet another great book in this series !!!!
I knew that I would love Luke, after suffering an injury Luke heads to the minors to start his come back up to the NHL level. He meets one of the trainers Dell and can't stay away from her.

Luke was soooo patient, funny and SWOONY !!! I absolutely fell in love with him, he was fiercely protective of Dell and almost relentless in his pursuit of her. Luke did whatever he could to squash any doubts Dell had about them being together.

This was a slow burn romance but still kept me completely entertained. The buildup in this was soooo sweet and had me smiling from ear to ear.
Dell was sweet, strong and independent. She knew just how to handle Luke and she didn't hesitate to make sure things went her pace.

Their flirty banter back and forth was soooo cute and at times had me laughing. There are outside forces that eventually threaten to keep them apart which gives you some intense moments that will have you on the edge for a bit.

Another great read from this series. Fire on Ice is fast becoming one of my all time fav sports romances.
