"Mira's Miracle" takes place after Vitsky's "Desire In Any Language" and before "Ana Adored". This can be read as a standalone book, though.
At the very end of "Desire In Any Language" Mira met her love interest, Hana, and we didn't get to see much of their relationship. "Mira's Miracle" picks up a few months after "Desire..." and the book's focus is about their first vacation together at the Castle.
What's the Castle, you ask? It's a place where every BDSM fetish can be fulfilled...
I visited the Castle in "Ana Adored" so it's not my first time there and I *loved* that book. However, even on my second visit, I find that I have a mixed reaction. There's some discomfort of "OMG, this place actually exists?!". At the same time I give it props, "OMG, this place actually exists, how cool!" This is kind of Mira's reaction, too. :) It's quite the bizarro land for better or worse. The main thing is that, whatever the fetish or preference, the Castle is perhaps the safest place to explore it and the safety aspect is highly emphasized, both emotional and physical. It's a fascinating environment.
Mira is still the immature character we met in "Desire..." so I didn't warm up to her entirely. And Hana, the mature one, isn't shown as much as I would've liked. However, the crux of the book is around Mira's exploration of her self in age-play...first as a young school girl, then even younger as a preschool type age.
Instead of the teacher/student dynamic seen in "Desire..." we get the mommy/child dynamic with a focus on discipline/spanking + being doted on/cared for. What makes the dynamic extra complex are Mira's two very separate but real issues in her regular life: 1) mommy issues AND 2) the previous sexual abuse she endured. When entering a scene of BDSM age-play, how does one reconcile the pretend and safe from the real and unsafe? And, in some ways, the pretend is more real than anything. Vitsky handles these topics really well and is a master of guiding us through what is healthy vs not.
I wouldn't say this book has the rape trigger of "Desire..." but the aftermath of abuse colors Mira's entire experience so people with a similar background may be hit harder than those who don't.
This isn't a "falling in love" type romance but it is does include a romantic relationship and the exploration of intimacy between Mira and Hana. And, though it's about spanking and erotic scenes it's not erotica, either.
Well-written and an interesting read. Recommend.
