Stepping into The Wonderland Teapot is like falling down the rabbit hole - magical! But there’s a catch: Cleo has completely lost her love of baking! With her little white lie ticking in her ear, it seems her dream is over before it’s begun.

Until she meets her very own Mad Hatter. Loved by everyone on Ever After Street, magician Bram brings an energy to the teashop that lifts everyone, and slowly, with his encouragement, Cleo is getting back to doing what she loves best.

But with Bram hiding secrets of his own, Cleo isn’t sure she can put all her faith in him. And when things start going wrong at the teashop, Cleo wonders if the culprit sabotaging her dream is someone closer than she thinks?

In a Nutshell: This series is proving to be such a delight! The plot this time is quite simple but the characters and the writing approach make this a winner. Much recommended to all those who enjoy clean romcoms intertwined with some meaningful themes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Plot Preview:
Cleo Jordan has always dreamt of owning her own tea room. So when Lilith retires, Cleo puts in an application to lease the teashop on Ever After Street and redo it with an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ motif. To her surprise, her application is granted on a three-month trial basis. There’s only one hitch: Cleo loves baking, but baking doesn’t love her back anymore!
As Cleo figures out how to turn supermarket baked goods into whimsical wonderland offerings so that the trial gets extended into a permanent lease, there comes one more hurdle. Magician Bram, who had been running the carousel earlier, has been appointed by the Council to perform as the Mad Hatter at the new establishment. Can Cleo keep her “supermarket” secret from Bram? And why does it seem like Bram has secrets of his own?
The story comes to us in Cleo’s first-person perspective.
Jaimie Admans is probably the only romcom author whose books I have grabbed blindly. She is also the only romcom author I still read. I have long outgrown typical romcoms, but Admans always writes content that goes beyond staid love stories. More importantly, she incorporates settings into her plots like no one else can. (She would make a great cozy fantasy writer if she wishes to; she’s so fabulous at conjuring up tantalising locations!) This book is no exception.
The Ever After series has romances loosely based on a fairy tale or a classic fantasy. After tackling ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in the first two books of this series, the third Ever After entry draws inspiration from the Lewis Carroll novel, ‘Alice in Wonderland’, for some of its characters as well as its key setting – the Wonderland teashop. It is not a retelling (Thank God!), but just pays a tribute to Wonderland by incorporating some of its elements into the plot line. This worked very much in my favour, because I am not a big fan of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. I love its quotes, but the story is too absurd and meandering for my taste. If this Ever After book had been written by some other author, it might not even have appealed to me. But my love for Jaimie Admans’ books triumphs over my dislike of Lewis Carroll’s works. This latest book maintains my fandom.
Bookish Yays:
😍 Loved Mad Hatter Bram! Admans always works wonders with her MMCs, but Bram is one of her very best. Though he isn’t even a typical romcom lead, being more goofy than gorgeous, I love seeing his vulnerable side, with his lack of confidence in his “weirdness”, and his strategy of hiding his pain through humour. This resonated a lot with me. If I am not wrong, this is Admans’ first MMC who isn’t a coconut – grump outside, softie inside.
😍 Cleo is also an interesting character, though she is somewhat overshadowed by Bram. She is a bit too naïve for someone in her early thirties, but she also knows what she wants and is determined to get it despite her earlier setbacks. I love how she acknowledges her need for external help, instead of typical fictional characters who insist on handling everything alone and then messing it up royally.
😍 The use of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ in the plot and setting is exceptional. While you don’t need to know the original, you will probably appreciate all the Easter eggs better if you are familiar with the classic.
😍 Still fascinated by the location of Ever After Street. The only reason I dislike Jaimie Admans is that she conjures up such wonderful fictional places that reality can never match up – sheesh!
😍 Loads of wit and humour, through banter, comic events, as well as mixed metaphors.
😍 Never thought I’d learn so much trivia from a romcom! Loved all the titbits of info!
😍 There’s so much soul in the story! I appreciate how the minimal plot still affects deeply, thanks to the characters and the intense themes, including grief, toxic parenting, imposter syndrome, and mental health issues.
😍 Romcoms that deliver on emotions without feeling the need to resort to steamy scenes always work better for me. This is a clean romance, with just some kisses. Oh, and it does not have insta-love as well – woohoo!
😍 You might see me appreciate the author's note or the acknowledgement often. But this time, the dedication gets its place in the spotlight, especially this sentence: "The world needs more spectacular nuts." Couldn't agree more, and proud to be one such nut, if I say so myself! 😝
Bookish Mixed Bags:
😐 The core plot is fairly straightforward this time around. The pages go by fast enough, but the content feels a bit too formulaic, even for a romcom. Then again, you read a Jaimie Admans romcom not for a literary experience but for all the feels, which this delivers perfectly.
Bookish Nays:
☹️ Other than the main characters, the rest were in either limited or unidimensional roles. One scene at the castle in the final section wasn’t to my liking as it felt atypical of the characters. There are a couple of minor mysteries in the plot, but they are quite guessable. I also have some doubts about the financial status of the FMC. These criticisms range from minor to mid-intensity points, but they do affect the overall experience.
All in all, I had high expectations from this book, and to a great extent, the expectations were met. I just wish it had surprised me a little more, but it stuck too closely to the romcom format. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it a lot; it is a great choice for readers who want entertainment with depth.
This has been an awesome series, consistent right from the start in its theme, characters, and setting. I can’t wait to read the fourth book of this planned six-book series. (I have a hunch about who might be the next lead character. Have I *cracked* the code or will I be proved a *nut*? *Frankly*, time will tell!)
Much recommended to all romcom and fairy tale fans who like romance stories to have more heart than mere oomph. This book works perfectly well as a standalone, but if you want a romcom extravaganza, binge through the entire series. Each book will make you “curiouser and curiouser” to get to the next.
4 stars.
My thanks to Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of “A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.
The digital version of this book is currently available free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers.
[A postscript meant only for the author: Kindly note my silence on all touchy-feely matters. I kept my promise. 😇 But just in case you are curious, the level of the above content was at the right proportion for me this time as well, just as in the second book.]
Here are the first two books of the charming ‘Ever After’ Series:
1. A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street
2. An Enchanted Moment on Ever After Street (My favourite so far!)
Cleo’s dream is to open up an Alice in Wonderland themed tearoom on Ever After Street. She aces the interview and is offered a 3 month probation period for the space. She wasn’t all that truthful, so now she has to figure out how she’ll make her dream come true.
Bram is a quirky fella that is working in the tearoom as the Mad Hatter. He plays the part fabulously and might just be catching the eye of his very own Alice. I found him to be quite the delight.
Of course we have a couple unbearable characters that I'd like to send rolling down the street in a barrel.
I think I’ve watched just about every Disney movie except Alice in Wonderland, how crazy is that? Haven't read it either. Since I’m not familiar with it I’ll just assume it was properly depicted. I enjoyed the magic of it all.
My favorite part of the whole series is how every character on Ever After Street is so helpful and supportive of each other. When Cleo is blackmailed every single resident steps in and does whatever they can to help her out.
Somewhat repetitive and predictable, but an enjoyable addition to the series nonetheless.
Series notes:
While I don’t think it’s fully necessary to read the first 2 books it would be more enjoyable if you do so. Marnie from book 2 is Cleo’s best friend, so she pops in quite often to lend a hand and an ear. There wasn’t much interaction with book 1 characters, but they are referenced.
Narration notes:
I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference.
3.25⭐️ This read more like a light, cozy romance than a romcom to me, although the setting was whimsical.
Cleo and Bram, emotional baggage and all, were likable and held my interest. Admans put thought into the characterizations, slowly revealing what made them tick.
What landed (Wonderlanded?) and spoke to the inner nerd in me was the Britishness of the storytelling. The spellings (realise, jewellery), national brands (Cherry Bakewells, Mr Kipling), and American-British equivalents (caravan, hob) added to the atmosphere.
What didn’t quite work:
🥱The repetition and dwelling on unnecessary details.
🙀The third act drama.
🐣The characters’ ages. Their behavior and experience were more suited to people in their mid-twenties than in their mid-thirties.
This is a series that keeps on giving and at book three, Admans delivers another fabulous read that I could immerse myself into from the very beginning. I am absolutely loving how each story has such a different plot and characters, as well as the magic of the setting itself, Ever After Street.
We have had Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and this time it is the turn of Alice in her Wonderland Teapot café where Cleo is turning her hand to fulfilling her dream. I’ve always got a sweet tooth for a café-based, baking-based story so was delighted to see this was the direction Admans takes this plot. However, for Cleo, the baking side is a bit of a problem: since losing her mother, grandmother and fiancé, she has a “baking block” where everything she tries to cook is inedible and just worthy of the bin. How can she run a café with homemade goods if she can’t product the baked goodies?
I was really curious to see how Cleo would be able to keep the business running. Bram’s character is delightful and I loved how he and Cleo make a great team of Alice and the Mad Hatter. The décor of the café was on point and you felt like you were entering Wonderland with Cleo and Bram’s ideas. When homemade cakes start being whipped up, I could not help but get itchy hands, wanting to turn to my own mixer and recipe book. I definitely felt inspired to bake as we saw Cleo’s journey to baking, kitchen goddess eventually come together.
Like the rest of the books in the series, the male lead has a hidden side and I liked how Admans gradually reveals Bram’s layers. Whilst he might seem an absolute nutjob for a Mad Hatter (and therefore a perfect fit for the role), it is evident that this is just a mask to his true character. And when the Queen of Hearts also starts working with Cleo and Bram, this adds an additional strain to the “dream team”, particularly when bakes appear to be spoiled by mysterious gremlins, keen on destroying Cleo’s business before it has even begun.
I liked seeing the community of Ever After Street once again come together in times of a crisis. You definitely don’t need to have read the other books in the series to appreciate the background characters, but I did enjoy seeing some familiar faces, as well as trying to pick who will be the main feature of the next book. (Which is absolutely near the top of my teetering book pile!)
Picking up this series, you can guarantee feelings of warmth, community and good cheer. It was a delight to read and I think this is certainly a series that keeps on giving. Bring on the next one!
With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Another cute and charming edition to the Ever After Street series - this one Alice in Wonderland themed that has Cleo, a young woman who wants to open an Alice themed tea shop forced to work with Bram, the man hired to play the Mad Hatter. Faking her skills as a baker and trying to please the council enough that they'll let her keep her shop open, Cleo can't help falling for Bram as he wiggles his way into heart with his hard work and humor. Good on audio, this was a feel-good, light-hearted, kissing only romance full of whimsy and I loved it. Looking forward to more in this series!!
Another wonderful visit back to Ever After Street, this time to an Alice in Wonderland themed story.
Who couldn’t resist visiting a tea room that has an Alice influence all over it? Straight away I was willing Cleo on with her interview to take on the tea room and was finding myself irritated by the hoops that the council seemed to be making her jump through!
Oh my goodness, Bram is such an amazing character! I love his quirky personality and kind heart, the most perfect book boyfriend! I adored his magical moments and the way he supported Cleo.
Watching them work together as a team was extremely uplifting and I was intrigued to see what was going to happen next!
Some great twists in the tale kept me hooked throughout and I found myself swooning over gorgeous Bram on many occasions!
Such an adorable story that captured my imagination and heart (and had me muttering off with their heads on several occasions too!) Entertaining and fun and of course it had me craving cake 🍰 and tea 🫖 and a magic trick or two from Bram!
Fairfarren, Alice
What a pleasure this has been to read.
I have never read or seen Alice in Wonderland, but I will make this something to do very soon.
This is a story of hopes and dreams. Dreams becoming reality, self doubt, sadness, and love all rolled into one book.
Every page has a delightful ingredient from the list above. The story is about a guy called Bram and a girl called Cleo. They have a fantastic connection, although at the start, Bram is as crazy as the Mad Hatter himself!
Another amazing addition to Ever After Street and makes it even more inviting and wishful that this place existed not just in a book but in reality.
Jaimie has a way with storytelling that shows off her incredible talent and her sparkling sense of humour, and you will crazy not to read this and her other work...
I'll let you into a secret... all the best people are! X
Ah I love Ever After Street. It holds a special place in my heart.
Cleo and Bram are just wonderful characters who each go on their own journey to find themselves throughout the pages of the book.
It's a magical setting and a magical story and I love coming back to Ever After Street and to Jaimie's books.
A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street by Jaimie Admans is a charming addition to the Ever After Street Series, enchanting readers with its whimsical narrative and heartwarming characters.
The story follows Cleo Jordan, who dreams of opening a teashop in memory of her beloved grandmother. Her journey takes her to the magical Ever After Street, where she secures a spot for her teashop, The Wonderland Teapot. However, Cleo's dream is threatened when she loses her passion for baking and must rely on a little white lie to keep her aspirations alive.
The arrival of Bram, a charismatic magician and the street's very own Mad Hatter, brings a new energy to Cleo's teashop. His encouragement helps Cleo rediscover her love for baking, but Bram's secrets cast a shadow of doubt. As Cleo navigates the challenges of running her business, she must learn to trust again, even as potential sabotage looms.
Admans' storytelling is as delightful as ever, weaving a tale that captures the reader's imagination from the first page to the last. The romance between Cleo and Bram is sweet and genuine, filled with misunderstandings and moments that will make readers smile. The community of Ever After Street adds a layer of warmth, offering friendship and support that enriches the narrative.
It's a story that balances everyday struggles with the magic of fairytales, making it a perfect read for those who enjoy contemporary romance with a touch of enchantment. The writing is warm and characters are vividly drawn. The plot weaves together themes of love, trust, and the pursuit of dreams.
In summary, A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is a delightful escape into a world where dreams can come true, and tea is always brewing. Jaimie Admans has crafted a story that is both magical and relatable, ensuring that readers will be eagerly awaiting their next visit to Ever After Street.
This is the third book in Jaimie's Ever After Street series and is Cleo's story, who we first met in the previous book; An Enchanted Moment on Ever After Street. There were a few hints at the end of that that she would love to run an Alice in Wonderland themed tea room and where better than the cafe next door to Marnie's book shop on Ever After Street - where Disney and fairy tales come to life! After a pretty last minute application and a rather daunting interview she is given the keys and it's time to get decorating - oh and practising baking as she seems to be unable to bake anything edible at the moment.
As with the other two books this has such a lovely reading style and you just flow through the chapters, there's also some magic in this from the Mad Hatter aka Bram (the previous controller of the carousel) and you can't help but have a smile on your face nearly every time he appears on the pages. He's just so full of life and energy and is exactly what Cleo needs to bring her out of the little hole she's been slowly falling into - even if she doesn't realise it at first!
This book left me really hungry as there are so many lovely bakes mentioned (some pretty awful ones as well but then that's just real life isn't it) and I found myself making my way into the kitchen to try and whip up a batch of cupcakes or biscuits. They make it sound so easy towards the end of the book, and I loved the way that the community on Ever After Street always come together to help each other out.
I felt like I didn't want this book to end, all along Cleo has a small sense of unease that everything is going to be taken from her and you start to feel this increasing as you get further in, hoping that everything will go plain sailing because that's what Cleo deserves but of course it's not going to be that easy is it!
There's a bit of romance, loads of friendship and happiness, some drama and lots of heartwarming moments in this book so everything you could ask for really! A great addition to Ever After Street and just makes me even more excited for the next instalment!
I'm loving this Ever After Series that is a spin on Fairytales! Each business is a based around a different fairytale and in this book we see one of my favorites, Alice In Wonderland, come to life with the Wonderland Tea Shop. I am so entranced with the idea that I truly wish this was a real place that I could visit. The author gives a vivid description that brings the location to life as well as the rest of the street and community. The author writes extremely compelling characters. The characters have realistic personalities complete with anxieties, flaws and other realistic features that breathes a sense of realness into these sweet romances. The plot is so well thought out that you can't stop turning pages to see what happens next. You can see bits of yourself in each character in one way or another which perhaps is why it is so easy to connect with the characters so easily! As with fairytales, these stories do get a happily ever after so if you enjoy a sweet romance with a unique twist complete with laughter, a bit of tears, a bit of angst and a whole lot of friendship, support and love then you have found the right series. I do recommend that you start with the first book as it will build the street, town and community of people in your mind all that much more which of course, will enhance your reading enjoyment!
A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is the third book in the interconnected standalone Ever After Street series by Jaime Admans. This is a magical, whimsical series that will delight its reader with it’s buoyancy and sweet simplicity.
This particular story features Cleo Jordan whose dream has been to open an Alice in Wonderland themed Tea Shop in honor of her grandmother who has passed away. Cleo has suffered many heartaches and disappointments in recent years and it has taken a toll. Consequently, she has lost her ability to bake, since baking was intrinsically tied-into her trauma. After finding friends on Ever After Street who encouraged her to pursue her dreams, she applies to open her own tea shop when the space is made available on Ever After Street, a place where she at long last, truly feels at home. It was competitive and tricky to secure the space and when she does she learns that it is only temporary, until she can prove herself. When a truly mad Mad Hatter shows up to work on her first day, an employee she never hired, her life changes in more ways than one.
A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is a second chance in life story and a sweet, slow-burn, quirky romance. This is a fairy tale with it’s own twists and turns along the way and a happily ever after that is hard-earned. I have loved all of the books in this series. Admittedly, I preferred the other two a bit more than this one, but that said, this is still a charming, feel-good story like only Jaime Admans can write.
I always start my reviews of Jaimie’s books with a disclaimer: Jaimie Admans is my best friend. She’s also one of my very favourite authors and I genuinely love her books. If I didn’t enjoy her books, I wouldn’t read them, best friend or not, and/or I would opt out of reviewing them. But I’ve read and loved every single one of Jaimie’s books and, since I love helping readers find new books, I like to shout about Jaimie’s books as often and as loudly as I can.
As a lifelong Disney and fairytale fan, I’ve been loving the Ever After Street series this past year, and I was excited for Cleo and Bram’s story. Ahh, Cleo and Bram. These two. *all the hearteyes* I loved their dynamics - Cleo as the slightly grumpy, closed-off, mistrusting business owner who initially sees Bram as more of a nuisance than anything, and Bram, the sunshiney, eccentric, colourful magician and Mad Hatter to Cleo’s Alice. I loved watching their relationship progress into friendship and then something more. They were two damaged people who showed each other sides of themselves they never showed other people, and helped each other heal. It was beautiful. Their interactions also ranged from hilarious to sweet to romantic, and I loved every moment of it and cheered them on from beginning to end.
I adored A Wonderland Wish on Ever Aftet Street. It was funny, touching, heartfelt, and so swoony. I can’t wait to return to Ever After Street later this year and be reunited with these wonderful characters who now feel like friends. Side note: Be sure to have a sweet treat and a cup of tea handy while reading Wonderland Wish because this book will definitely make you hungry!
This wonderful book is third in a series but easily read as a standalone. Cleo has been granted the teashop on EverAfter Street on a trial basis - subject to good sales, great reviews and random inspections by the Council! There's just one problem, not only has Cleo forgotten how to bake, she's 'between kitchens'.. Cleo's theme for the tea shop is Alice in Wonderland and Mad Hatter Bram is sent by the Council to assist her. Cleo's been planning to serve supermarket buns in the teashop but Bram's presence is going to make that really difficult!
I really enjoyed this book and I think Bram is possibly one of my favourite fictional characters ever. PSA - ensure you have plenty of cake nearby while reading this book as you will definitely be wanting cake and glittery tea. Enjoy!
I absolutely loved revisiting Ever After Street and reading about the development of the Wonderland Teapot, tea rooms. Jaimie Admans never ceases to bring a smile to my face with her writing. Ever After Street is a magical place where dreams come true, lonely souls come together and “weird” is always appreciated.
In “A Wonderland Wish” our “Alice”, Cleo, is delighted to live her dream running a tea room like her Mother and Grandmother before her. As with any fairy tale there are several hitches that cause Cleo issues. Firstly she is only renting from the Council and has a lot to do to prove that she and the Wonderland Teapot will be an asset to Ever After Street. The biggest problem though is her inability to bake anything palatable! She used to be a fantastic baker but after loosing her Grandmother and then her home in a house fire, her memory, ability and joy have disappeared.
Enter the Mad Hatter, Bram, hired by the Council to help in the Tearoom. Bram doesn’t take life seriously, he is an excellent magician and entertainer but drives anyone close to him to distraction with his misplaced humour and pranks. However Bram is not all he appears to be, he is also kind, helpful and is well placed to help Cleo in the business.
Bram is delightfully mad- capped and I think every Alice wanna be needs a Bram in their life to allow for things to get curiouser and curiouser. The word play and general banter Bram engages with whilst in character and when he feels uncomfortable was great fun to read. Many people hide behind a public persona and Bram certainly does. I know there will always be a happily ever after on Ever After Street, but, my goodness, I have enjoyed the ride to get there watching the friendship between Cleo and Bram develop whilst lots of bumps in the road are endured.
With thanks to the publishers for my Netgalley ARC.
An empty cafe on Ever After Street gives Cleo the opportunity she’s been waiting for – the chance to open an Alice in Wonderland themed tea room, as a tribute to her late gran. Not being able to bake might pose a bit of a problem – she lost her ability with the rough time she’s been having recently – and there’s no kitchen either in her ramshackle caravan or her new premises. But shop bought cakes got her through the interview – to her considerable shame – and the supermarket’s always there, adding a few touches to her purchases to reflect her theme until she gets up and running.
But she’s on borrowed time, and the council won’t extend her lease unless her enterprise is a success – and they also send along a “helper”, the wonderful Bram, fully embracing the role of her Mad Hatter. He’s just what she needs – a sparkling personality, a natural entertainer, a talented magician, and a supportive friend – and he also has a swish kitchen of his own, and is more than happy to spend time helping Cleo rediscover her love for baking. It’s an uphill struggle, but they do grow closer in the process – while discovering that they’re both damaged and vulnerable, and that he has some significant secrets that might just drive a wedge between them. But that’s not their only issue – someone is sabotaging their efforts, and just when Cleo needs to meet her biggest challenge or face losing her teashop for ever.
This is just the loveliest read, with the most wonderful characters – and the supportive community of Ever After Street stepping up and pulling together when it looks as if everything may be lost. I loved Cleo from the very beginning – her ideas for the decoration of the teashop were fantastic, and her bravery in the face of her issues and shortcomings only made me love her more. Bram, you might find, is a little more of an acquired taste – but there’s someone infinitely more loveable behind his relentless punning and rather manic Mad Hatter persona. And the developing romance between them? Well, that’s simply perfect – with more obstacles than many relationships, but theirs is a story that really just has to have a happy ending.
The author’s storytelling is as wonderful as ever – this was a book I happily read in a single sitting, heart in mouth at times, moving between tears and laughter, and a world of real everyday fairytale magic that I really didn’t want to leave behind. Just gorgeous – and I’m already looking forward to the next book in this amazing series.
Cleo is thrilled to fulfill her dream of running a tea room, continuing a family tradition set by her mother and grandmother. But her journey isn't without challenges. She only rents the property from the Council, meaning she has to prove her tea room, Wonderland Teapot, is a valuable addition to Ever After Street. A more significant hurdle is her sudden inability to bake anything edible. Once a great baker, her skills vanished after the loss of her grandmother and a devastating house fire.
Enter Bram, a whimsical magician and entertainer hired by the Council to assist in the tearoom. Bram is charming yet maddeningly unpredictable, using humor and pranks to lighten any situation. Despite his playful antics, Bram reveals a kind and helpful side, proving instrumental in helping Cleo with her business struggles.
Bram’s eccentricity brings a delightful energy to the story, echoing the craziness of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. His playful wordplay and banter, especially when he feels uncomfortable, add to the charm. Though Bram often hides behind his humorous facade, he helps Cleo rekindle her lost joy in running the tea room.
While the setting on Ever After Street suggests a happy ending, the path there is filled with bumps and twists, making the development of Cleo and Bram's friendship an enjoyable and engaging journey.
I throughly enjoyed this sweet book and at times it made me laugh. I could picture the themed cafe and wish we had one locally. I hope there is more books to come in this series. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is another charming and delightful installment in the Ever After Street series.
Well, wasn’t this a delightful and slightly bonkers read. I really love Jaimie’s ability to take beloved classic takes and spin them into everyday rom-coms. Even though Alice in Wonderland isn’t my favourite classic to read (no matter how hard I try to love it), I adored this book. There are so many fabulous references to the classic tale, and I also love the easter eggs that are woven throughout the story. Like with most rom-coms, this book can be read as a stand-alone, even though it’s part of a series. Fans of the series will be delighted that past MCs make an appearance in this book. It felt like I got to catch up with old friends. Those who are new to Jaimie’s writing are in for a real treat. She is one of my good-to-comfort authors. I know that when I pick up a book Jaimie has written, I’m going to be left feeling all kinds of happy and very comfy-cozy. And this book is no exception.
This story follows Cleo, whom we briefly met in the previous book. She is hoping to open her own Alice in Wonderland teashop. Life hasn’t been kind to Cleo; both her grandma and mom passed away (in a fairly short time frame), and her ex-boyfriend duped her out of opening up a teashop they were supposed to co-run. Cleo has been hiding from the world and really has lost her spark and self-confidence, which has affected her ability to bake. Cleo is beyond thrilled and slightly terrified when she is given the opportunity to run her very own Alice in Wonderland-themed teashop. The snag is that the town council believes she is a fabulous baker, which she is not. Another unexpected turn is when a very real life-sized mad-hatter shows up at her teashop door and says he is there to help Cleo out. Bram is all sorts of quirky, and Cleo truly doesn’t know what to make of him. I loved everything about this story. It’s a slight makeover story; baking shenanigans are happening, the hero is quirky and charming, and Cleo is just so darn likable.
I loved Cleo and felt like I bonded with her over her baking horror stories. I’ve lost count of the number of times that I almost set my microwave on fire, made lumpy frosting, and made cakes that just won’t rise. There is just something so wonderful about her character, and you can’t help but be drawn to her. I loved her journey of rediscovering her passion for baking and watching her start to believe in herself once again. Bram is delightful, fun, and just a ray of sunshine. He is very different from Jaimie’s previous male MCs, who were a bit broody and prickly. Bram plays such an important part in Cleo’s journey; he is a constant source of encouragement and support. Bram’s character also surprised me; he has a lot more depth than I initially thought he would. Underneath that goofy and slightly bonkers exterior is a man battling his own inner struggles.
The romance is sweet and delightful, and it is everything I have come to expect from a Jaimie Adman novel. Cleo and Bram are a fun and unique couple. Cleo doesn’t know what to make of Bram’s ‘Mad Hatter’ behaviour and cannot decide if she can trust him. There are plenty of misunderstandings, hurdles to overcome, and tea to serve. But alongside all that chaos are quiet and heartfelt moments where you see Cleo and Bram grow closer and see the start of a lovely romantic relationship.
A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is delightful and charming; it is everything I hoped it would be.
One Liner: The best hugs!
Cleo Jordon has always dreamed of owning a teahouse like her gran. But life didn’t work the she hoped, and she was left with almost nothing. When the teahouse on Ever After Street is available, Cleo presents the Wonderland Theme to apply for it. She hopes everything will get sorted.
What’s Wonderland without Mad Hatter? Bram has only felt comfortable being a magician and putting on a façade to hide his vulnerabilities. Seeing Cleo’s struggles, he is determined to help. But with both of them struggling with the weight of their pasts, can they find a way forward and towards each other?
The story comes in Cleo’s first-person POV.
My Thoughts:
The book works as a standalone, though the characters from previous stories appear a few times. The series is themed around fairytales, and here we have Alice in Wonderland (though it is not a Grimm’s piece).
This is my fourth book by the author, I love how much care she puts into crafting her main characters. They feel so real and flawed with fears, vulnerabilities, and temper tantrums, but also compassion and love.
We learn more about the characters as they get to know each other. The layers peel, little by little, bringing them together and readers closer to them. Though we get the entire story from Cleo, we can see Bram and understand his emotions easily, just as we would have if we got his POV.
Cleo is our grumpy girl, while Bram is the cutesy sunshine. He can be a bit OTT, but I understand where he is coming from. They make an adorable couple! The romance is, of course, a slow burn with some witty banter and heartwarming moments. And oh, her books have the best hugs! Can never have enough of these. Loveee it!
There are a couple of stereotypical characters we would love to hate. One of them does get a slightly better arc.
The community at Ever After Street is vibrant, cheerful, and always ready to help their own. Naturally, they step in and take over whenever necessary. The small-town vibes and the magical setting give this a cozier feel.
I always enjoy descriptions of the setting. Though we don’t get much of the outside details in this one, the tearoom comes alive on the pages. Cleo seems to have done a great job of recreating Wonderland (I haven’t read the original so can’t say much). We do go to the castle again, so yay!
The pacing is slow and steady, something I expect from the author’s books. The constant mention of cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, etc., made me drool! Wish I could grab some from the screen (why hasn’t technology advanced as much yet?).
We have the dreaded third-act breakup, which I expected. I could see both their POVs, so I’d say it is quite balanced. On the whole, if you ask who handled things better afterward, I would vote for Bram. Cleo levels up… eventually.
To summarize, A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is a sweet tale of a new start, healing, finding one’s tribe, seeing beyond the façade, and falling in love with someone who sees the real you.
A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street by Jaimie Admans
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Blurb
There's always time for tea... unless you've lost your teapot…
Cleo Jordan has only ever wished for one thing – to open her own teashop in memory of her lovely gran. So when she accidentally fools the interview board into thinking she's a brilliant baker and is offered a prime spot on Ever After Street, she knows her dream is about to come true!
Stepping into The Wonderland Teapot is like falling down the rabbit hole - magical! But there’s a catch: Cleo has completely lost her love of baking! With her little white lie ticking in her ear, it seems her dream is over before it’s begun.
Until she meets her very own Mad Hatter. Loved by everyone on Ever After Street, magician Bram brings an energy to the teashop that lifts everyone, and slowly, with his encouragement, Cleo is getting back to doing what she loves best.
But with Bram hiding secrets of his own, Cleo isn’t sure she can put all her faith in him. And when things start going wrong at the teashop, Cleo wonders if the culprit sabotaging her dream is someone closer than she thinks?
If Cleo wants her wish to work, she has to learn to trust again before she loses her head and heart completely…although it might already be far too late for that...
My Opinion
So far I am loving this series and I was delighted when I saw that there was going to be a new book This is the third book in the Ever After Street series and whilst it could be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the books in the correct order to get maximum enjoyment.
I read the majority of this book in one sitting and I wasn't ready to leave The Wonderland Teapot when I finished the book. There is something magical about Jaimie's writing, I simply adore every book I have read. Ever After Street is so welcoming and you feel like you are surrounded by friends on every visit. An adorable read with some great cakes.
A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is the third book in the Ever After Street series and my first read in this series but not my first read by the author. This is the most fun I've had reading a book in a long time. The book is Alice in Wonderland Themed, now I've never actually read Alice in Wonderland completely through but after reading this I'll need to make that a priority.
Cleo Jordan's gran had a tea shop serving the most delightful baked goods, the customers loved it and gran. After her death Cleo wants to honor her memory and open her own teashop. Now there's just a few things standing in her way, Ever After Street is a very highly sought after street and open shop rentals are very hard to find, Cleo counts her lucky stars when she's offered an interview for an open store front. Running late to the interview she grabs store bought cupcakes to represent her own baking, no one will ever know, right? Problem number two she's lost her love of baking and doesn't seem to have any luck in rejuvenating it. The stars align and she's able to call the shop hers.
The shop is a Alice in Wonderland themed teashop. I loved the descriptions of the shop decorations and Bram who is the Mad Hatter and who has the part down pat from his costume to magical tricks to the voice the customers and children alike love him.
The shop is so whimsical I just loved it, can I visit this tea shop now, please?
Cleo and Bram start to form a friendship and start baking things for the shop together as her love of baking returns. All isn't well as some of the baked goods get sabotaged that are being served to the customers, nothing poisonous but some are too salty or spicy.
With Bram hiding a few secrets of his own could Cleo's fairy tale dreams be going up in smoke just as she's starting to learn to trust again?
Fun, whimsical and magical this is a heartwarming tale we all need on our reading list.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.
There's always time for tea... unless you've lost your teapot…
Cleo Jordan has always wanted to own her own teashop, ever since growing up watching her gran make such a success of hers but, since losing her gran and her mum she's also lost her love of baking so, when she somehow manages to convince the interview board she's got what it takes, she's offered the old tea rooms on Ever After Street. After working hard to get The Wonderland Teapot ready for opening day, she's still fretting about her secret coming out, until Bram, her very own Mad Hatter turns up, to work in the shop with her, entertaining the customers with his magic tricks and encourages her to believe in herself, but can Cleo trust him, especially when things start going wrong and the finger of doubt is pointing in his direction?
We are back again in this magical street where fairytales happen and this time the author brings us Cleo and Bram and an Alice in Wonderland themed tale. Cleo, still reeling from her losses is desperate to make a success of the tea rooms and Bram just wants to be accepted for who he is and not for who his father wants him to be and these two bonded together beautifully, I had high hopes that the author would bring them a happy ever after. I loved everything about this latest in the series; the connection between Cleo and Bram and their daily effort to encourage each other to believe they are worth something, the community spirit of the traders on Ever After Street and the wonderful concoctions that were created every day really made my mouth water and left me wishing that this was a real tea room as I so wanted to try them all! Once again I loved my latest visit to this fabulous street and I can't wait to see who Admans takes us to visit next.
I'd like to thank Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads and Amazon.
Jaimie Admans’ A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is pure enchantment from beginning to end!
Opening her own teashop in memory of her beloved gran is Cleo Jordan’s greatest wish. When she accidentally fools the interview board into thinking that she’s a brilliant baker, Cleo is offered a prime spot in Ever After Street and although she is delighted, she is apprehensive because she has completely lost her love of baking. Is her dream over before it’s even begun? Stepping into The Wonderland Teapot is everything she has always wanted, but will she find her love of baking again? Or is her dream about to go up in smoke?
A chance encounter with local magician Bram changes everything for Cleo. Loved by everyone, he injects a little bit of magic and sparkle into the teashop – and into her life as well. A friendship between the two of them quickly develops yet Cleo isn’t sure whether she should put all of her trust in him – especially as things have started going awry at the teashop! Who is sabotaging Cleo? And could the culprit be even closer than Cleo initially thought?
As Cleo’s dreams look set to disintegrate, can she heal from her past and learn to trust again? Or has she lost her heart already only to have it broken again in a million tiny pieces?
A magical romantic read that is a joy to curl up with, A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street by Jaimie Admans is a delightful, charming and tender tale about letting go of the past, making your dreams come true and falling in love that will make you smile and tug at your heartstrings. With lovely characters that leap off the pages, sparkling humour and touching romance, escape between the pages of A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street by Jaimie Admans – you will certainly not regret it!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Jaimie Admans books should come with a little tag on them just saying "read me". For they are the most magical of books that will take you down the rabbit hole of your imagination and leave you grinning like a Cheshire cat!
Not only that you will be so absorbed, that you will then start running around saying "I'm late, I'm late for a very important date" when you realise that real life was happening while you were enjoying the story so much and that you are now late for something!
Well when you are not calling "off with their heads" at the clear villain of the book, although I almost felt for for them towards the end, but not overly!
Can you tell that I may have just loved this latest Ever After Street book, and that that the featured fairy tale this time around is Alice in Wonderland.
All set in a new teashop, where Cleo suddenly acquires her very own Mad Hatter. And wow what a mad hatter Bram is, i absolutely loved him, on every level that he has. And I really wanted to know how he was doing all of his magic tricks, while being rather relieved that no one broke the magic circle's code by revealing how the magic is done!
But wow I'd love to know how the magic is created in this author's head, as since this series started, it seems to have gone to the next level. This is just another really special book, and I can't wait to see what is coming next.
If you are wanting a perfect escapist read with magic, romance, baking, sabotage, a Mad Hatter, and a whole lot more then you definitely need to read this.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing houise and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
Another lovely romp through Ever After Street; it's like meeting up with old firends. On this amazing street, based on fairy tales, what could be better than the newest addition, the Wonderland Teapot. Cleo needs a win, she is lost and wonders if she will ever get her life together. Her friend, Marnie convinces her to apply to take over the local tearoom, which is Cleo's dream, as her grandmother had a tearoom when she was a girl. Cleo wants to have an Alice in Wonderland theme and shows up to the interview with cupcakes that she bought at a bakery onthe way. Cleo would love to have baked something herself but since she lives in a caravan in Marnie's driveway, she doesn't have access to an actual kitchen and also she has lost the ability to bake somehow. The interviewers love her idea and are mistakenly led to believe Cleo made the cupcakes, so they offer her a trial run.
On Cleo's first day of business the Mad Hatter shows up, apparently hired by management to assist her. Cleo and Bram almost instantly hit it off and as they get closer, Cleo is starting to see her dream come to fruition. Bram is helping Cleo find her love of baking again. Suddenly there are some acts of sabotage and Cleo doesn't know who to blame, could it be Tabby her newest unwanted employee or is iot actually Bram.
I love the way this author writes her books, they always leave you with a smile and are a great break from the usual books that I read.
🚨TW: loss of love one, mentions of parent abandonment, controlling parent, being sabotage
Want to go to a tea shop that it is Alice in Wonderland themed and with a really crazy Mad Hatter who makes you smile? And have Unbirthday parties everyday of the year? How fun is that?
This story made me smile so much. Cleo and Bram are just so adorable together. At first she is confused and not really happy of why he came in because she didn't hire any help but she is not exactly the owner of the shop because she is on 3 months probation. However because he proved that he was hired so she just have to accept it.
He is really good at acting as Mad Hatter and of course magic. He was the only one that knows the secret of her which she couldn't bake. She completely lost her touch in baking when she lose everything. (can't spoil it about why you will need to read it).
As they get to know each other, they both help each other and also encouraged each other and also compliment each other because both are great at what they do. They opened up to each other and also shows they vulnerable self to each other and comfort each other. He helped her to find back her love of baking. Love the time they had at the Carousel and of course the midnight date. hehe..
I can't stand his ex and his father because one thing is that they like to take control of things and can also threaten to go their own way.
As usual love the people in Ever After Street always friendly, helpful and always willing to give a hand whenever anyone in Ever After Street is in trouble.
P.S Would love to play a role in the Alice in Wonderland theme teashop hehe...maybe I could dress up maybe White Rabbit or Cheshire Cat hehe...
As a lover of all things fairy tale and fantasy I was super intrigued by this book.
Life has been hitting Cleo a little hard the last few years, but things might be changing. After a nail biting interview she has been given a trial lease of the tea shop on Ever After Street, to give it a make over Alice in Wonderland theme and run it herself. Finally achieving her lifelong dream should be exciting, but Cleo has lost her ability to bake and if she can’t produce the fantastical desserts she promised she might lose her tea shop. And on top of everything the council hired her a Mad Hatter to assist in her shop and he is driving her crazy, even if she does find him ridiculously handsome.
I was thrilled to learn this is actually book three in the Ever After Street series, it means I have two other books to go back and read. I adore the concept of a fairy tale themed shopping street and Jaimie Admans did an incredible job bringing it to life. My only complaint is that this magical street is not real and I can’t go there. This was a really fun book and you don’t have to have read the previous two to be able to read this one. However possible spoilers about the fates of previous characters might be contained in this one, which is not going to stop me going back and starting from book one.
If you want a cute and fun summery love story this is definitely one I recommend checking out.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for letting me review this one.
This book was a delightful and whimsical read that combines magic, romance, and personal growth. The story follows Cleo Jordan, who has opened The Wonderland Teapot, a charming little teashop on Ever After Street, a magical, Disney-inspired street where dreams and surprises seem to happen around every corner. Cleo’s journey of starting over and learning to embrace life again is heartwarming, and I found myself rooting for her throughout.
The romance with Bram, a sweet and quirky magician, adds just the right amount of enchantment to the story. Their relationship develops at a gentle pace, making it easy to invest in their connection. One thing I’ll admit is that I didn’t realize this was part of a series until after I started reading. However, it didn't impact my enjoyment of the book at all! It works perfectly as a standalone, and I didn’t feel lost or confused at any point.
The story blends magic and reality in a way that’s both comforting and inspiring. While some parts of the plot were a bit predictable, the heart of the book lies in Cleo’s personal growth and the way she finds her place on Ever After Street. It’s not just about romance; it’s about second chances and the magic of believing in yourself.
If you're looking for a feel-good romance with a touch of whimsy and self-discovery, this one is definitely worth checking out!
What a wonderful book this is! Jaimie Admans really knows how to create a wonderful world, and this latest book in the Ever After Street series once again took me to my favourite street, filled with fabulous characters. Cleo and Bram captured me from the very beginning, and the will-they-won’t-they story had me hooked! Cleo has always dreamed of owning her own tea shop, and when a vacancy comes up on Ever After Street, she comes up with the idea of an Alice in Wonderland themed tea shop, and A Wonderland Wish on Ever After Street is born. Every Alice in Wonderland needs a mad hatter right? That’s where Bram comes in. He’s outrageously bonkers, funny, clever and a very talented magician. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also very attractive, and Cleo soon finds herself looking forward to interacting with him every day. They work together really well, enjoy spending time together, but each of them have some deep rooted issues that get in their way. Can Ever After Street work it’s magic for them? Will the tea shop become a success? Will Cleo and Bram work it out?
This is such a lovely story, full of charm, romance and all the ingredients to lift me out of the ordinary and into the amazing world of Ever After Street. Don’t believe in magic? You will after reading this! Highly recommended.
