When she finds out that the man convicted of killing her sister may be innocent, FBI agent and forensic psychologist Alexis Forrest goes on the search for the real culprit. Evidence of her sister’s murder was found in a remote cabin, along with traces of dozens more young women. A serial killer has been stalking these woods for decades and he’s still out there.
Alexis had returned to Broken Hill, the snowy New England town where she grew up, to investigate another case. But after finding the serial killer’s cabin with evidence of other victims, she will do anything to track him down.
Meanwhile, a family is torn apart when their son goes missing while they’re on a family vacation nearby. He disappears while sledding right outside of his Airbnb. The sled is found but the boy is gone. With a huge blizzard blowing in, Alexis must fight against nature and man to find the boy before all of the evidence of who took him and what happened to him is buried.
Will Alexis be able to find the boy in time? Can she find out who killed her sister before the serial killer claims another victim?
Kate Gable loves a good mystery that is full of suspense. She grew up devouring psychological thrillers and crime novels as well as movies, tv shows and true crime.
Her favorite stories are the ones that are centered on families with lots of secrets and lies as well as many twists and turns. Her novels have elements of psychological suspense, thriller, mystery and romance.
Kate Gable lives in Southern California with her husband, son, a dog and a cat. She has spent more than twenty years in this area and finds inspiration from its cities, canyons, deserts, and small mountain towns.
I didn't Luke what happened in this book. I can't spoil it but I just was so upset. I do.like Alexis and she is a good heroine but there are times I wanted to shake her. Lol. Mitch is too good to be true so I am worried about that. Where is it headed. I do.like this series but this book just made me sad. I hope she finds her sisters killer. Because he already found her.
I guess it’s a good thing these fun, addictive mysteries are quick reads since there are 5 more to go 😳 Alexis Forest is an engaging FBI agent trying to catch the serial killer who murdered her sister years before these stories start. She’s discovered that the wrong man has been in prison and that the killer is still at work in the area of New England where she grew up. On to #3
This is book two in The Alexis Forrest FBI Mystery Thriller series. Alexis is a forensic psychologist and also a FBI agent but while is Broken Hill while working on a case she finds out that the person that was convicted for her sister’s murder may be innocent so now she needs to find the real killer but then a boy goes missing while on a break with his family so now it is a race against time to find him due to a severe blizzard that is arriving so she needs to work fast before everything including the boy and evidence is lost but Alexis is determined to leave no stone unturned. Wow this book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions while having you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath while you turn the pages and I was unable to put this book down because it is so addictive. The twists and turns keep coming along with danger, kidnapping, loss of life, suspense, drama, suspense, suffering, emotional situations, hope along with a new relationship and a stalker that will not give up until he gets what he wants. This book was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Alexis Forrest has returned to her home town of Broken Hill, New England where she grew up, on a case to find a missing girl. Also she feels the person arrested for her sister's murder was not the right and upon finding a cabin with evidence of a serial killer, she is now investigating her sister's murder when a little boy goes missing. He was just sledding outside the B&B his parents rented. Alexis has her hands full and more danger than she realizes when a serial killer is loose in the woods. Can she figure out what happened to the little boy and find him before it's too late? Can she find a serial killer before he finds her? Wow there is so much on her plate, but she is a dog on a hunt. I really like this second book in the series and can't wait to see what is next for Alexis. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Forrest of Shadows is the second book in this exciting series which continues the story of FBI agent and forensic psychologist Alexis Forrest and her former boyfriend, Mitch. Alexis is called into a missing child kidnapping case which results in mystery, suspense, danger, plot twists, and the disclosure of a dark criminal network. She continues her investigation of the serial killer who is responsible for thirteen known murders which could include the death of her sister, Maddie. This book ends in a jaw dropping cliffhanger leading to the next book, Forrest of Secrets. I highly recommend this excellent series!
When it comes to solving crimes Alexis Forrest is a great FBI agent to have on the case. She is persistent, she is tough and she can relate to the people of missing family members. This case is no different. Even after she finds the missing child, she still internalizes the case and is convinced she could have done more. She is then hit with new information regarding her sister’s case and it rocks her family to the core. Now she is more determined to find the killer. Little does she realize what waits for her. I really like this second book. I am glad to see Alexis at work and how her brain works. This series is only getting better. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm intrigued by Alexis she won't back down from a case and is more determined than her male counterparts to solve a mysterious murder. I couldn't flip the pages fast enough to satisfy my curiosity and not once did I want to put this book down. The whole time I was reading this story I was on pins and needles it's so intense and kept me guessing as to who the killer was. The plot has many unexpected twists, but the ending will shock the shiza out of you.
This is the second book in this series which had Alexis Forrest return to where she was brought up to deal with a case only to find out that Alexis’ sister might have been murdered by someone else to who they thought. Before having time to look into her sister’s case Alexis finds herself on a case for a missing child which also brings up more then it first appears. Will Alexis solve this case or find out exactly who took her sister. This is a good series that leaves wanting the next book.
Forest of Shadows: Addictive crime Mystery with shocking twist(Alexis Forrest FBI Mystery Thriller
This book is exactly like it said and addictive crime Mystery with a shocking twist, it was also very sad. I love reading about Alexis Forrest and the trouble she gets into, she did solve one crime but has another much bigger then what she expected. I can't wait to read the next book.
This story has Alexis who is FBI Agent having completed a case when she’s pulled into another as a child has gone missing. It’s an intriguing story as she wants to find what’s happening. She also interacts with a friend and parents as she’s still wanting answers to her sister’s case. Will she find the child? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is an easy to read series. The plot has enough depth to keep it interesting and the characters are real people you can identify with. The story moves at a fast pace and can be read in one sitting no problem. This series should be read in order, the books begin right where the previous book left off.
I enjoyed the 2nd book of this series just as much as the first. I like the writer's style in character development and not including gratuitous sex and violence and gore. i like thrillers but some things are better left to the imagination. I'm moving along to the 3rd book of this series now -- I highly recommend the Alexis Forrest FBI Mystery Thriller series.
Wow! Forest of Shadows was a great read. I love the characters Alexis and Mitch. The interaction is exciting and engaging. Alexis Forrest, FBI agent is fearless. I'm patiently waiting on the next book in the series. Kate Gable did it again with an energetic thriller.
Loved this book. Alexis is still in broken Hill her hometown investigating a serial killer when a little boy goes missing during a snow storm but will they find him in time? And who is after her without her knowing it?
A good storyline, and well-written. I must admit I'm getting a little tired of these heroic females who don't pay attention to anything other than thinking they must solve all the puzzles themselves. How they stay alive beats me. Well, it's fiction, I know. Anyway, good storyline, and since the bad guy is waiting for book 3 to murder some more people, we have to wait for it to be written.
I'm really starting to like Alexis Forrest. She's funny, smart and tenacious! She's one, hopefully, I'll be reading about more and more. Exciting,fast-paced, believable and human. Glad I found Kate Gable!
Fun enough to listen to - but I won’t go further. The AI generated voice stinks. Wrong intination. Wrong emphasis. Just all wrong. Cannot tell one character from another. No emotion. Just a monitonal voice through.
Excellent!!!!. FBI agent Alexis Forrest is unraveling a serial killer list of victims and one of them is her older sister. Bold and well developed characters. You can't put this book down good.
this is a page turning story in the series. alexis is trying to find the person who is responsible for the murders but he has disappeared. will she be able to find him before more are kidnapped? if you like suspense you will want to read the story
Oh my goodness this book was absolutely amazing. I cannot believe it. I don’t wanna give anything away because I want other readers to enjoy it just as much as me just wow that’s all I got wow!!!
Wow! I just love how this series is able to pull me completely in to the suspense and mystery! Alexis is great, she's a strong character, determined, and a fighter in all ways. This story is well written with a flow that keeps the pages turning, twists that keep you on your toes, and even a connection with an old flame! I can't wait for the next book.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was a great story about who is doing the killing and somebody could be innocent and not guilty. This story had lots of suspense and action. Thank you Kate for a great story.
I can't believe the "new me"...I seem to be reading mystery novels that are officially series books. I have finished this and 3 and just downloaded number 4 and to my detriment discovered I won't catch the bad guy until number 6. Arrgghh. Not sure my reading books of value had gone out the window for a bit...
