Don't miss out on this thrilling installment in the Defectors Trilogy! Sector X has fallen. The PMC is in upheaval. Winter is on its way, and there’s trouble in the rebel camp. Whispered doubts circulate about the effectiveness of the rebellion, and Rulon is losing control. When the rebels refuse to help Haven rescue Amory from the clutches of the PMC, she must take matters into her own hands and cross enemy lines. But Amory isn’t a prisoner of war — he’s a test subject in a dangerous experiment. To save one of their own, the gang will have to enlist the help of someone they don’t trust and come face to face with the enemy inside.

Definitely ended up being an improvement over the previous book in regards to plot advancement. I was still annoyed with the constant back and forth of the characters from Rebel to PMC and back again. Plus it seemed like there was just too much capture and rescue. They would barely be done getting someone out of some facility or another and then another team member gets captured. Also felt like the rescue attempts were too easily successful which made the captures seem like no big deal. I would really think that there would be a significantly more advanced system of security at these facilities.
However towards the end of the book, I did find that I was enjoying the story and wanting to see how things end.
I enjoyed this book- the author was kind enough to send me an advance copy. I didn't see many of the story twists coming- and there were many. I cannot wait for book 3 - I enjoyed the fact that hardships are not sugar coated in the series. I think any readers who enjoy dystopian novels will like this book- Haven is a complex character and I like that she has imperfections. I could see this series as a tv series or movie in the future.
I had the great opportunity to read this book early and I was not disappointed. The book keeps you guessing the whole time and I was thoroughly pleased with the direction the book took. My favorite part was the ending it left me wanting more without feeling disappointed. Great read just be prepared to stay up all night.
I enjoy these dystopian end of world books. This has been a good series, predictable but very enjoyable. I do find the repeating of Haven's feelings (that switch with paragraphs) about Amory frustrating. Other than that I'm looking forward to the 3rd book and read more by Tarah.
I love these characters and their journeys. The search is on to find a cure for Logan and I hope they do. She is my favorite female character. She is strong, capable, smart and doesn't hesitate do what needs to be done. And unlike Haven she doesn't guilt up about every conceivable thing that could possibly be her fault.
It is now Haven and Logan at Worldcorp. And Maya and Jared, what will they do? Very exciting. Haven keeps making choices for the group that get them all into danger, without much forethought. Yet everyone follows her. She seems hesitant to kill anyone to protect people but she sure wants to rush in and save them. I should deduct a star for this rash impulsive behavior but in spite of acting like the teenager she almost is, I like her. The writing is good, fairly well edited and fast paced. So what's not to like?
A thrilling, page turning second book in the Defectors Trilogy. I couldn't put it down as there was always an exciting new plot twist to be solved! I enjoyed the new developments in both the corrupt government and the characters' relationships, leaving no major plot hole open. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and I can't wait to see how it Haven's world comes to a close in the final book!
I rounded up because I would give this 3.5. The whole lets break back into these places and save everyone is getting a little tiresome. I wished that wasn't beat to death and they could get caught a different way. I guess it is suppose to show her character. I will read the next one because I always finish the series once I read books 1 & 2.
Absolutely love this author. A beautiful dystopian story. I enjoyed this series immensely. The dystopian story is fabulous, the only part I did not like were the morbid "Carriers", and the extensive killing of these people.. However, the story line was gripping. Loved the characters. Thank you for a great series.
I love it and hate it when a book in a series leaves me hanging and wanting more. Luckily the next book is out and I can start reading immediately. Great series if you like teen post-apocalyptic or dystopian novels.
I don't even want to take the time to write this review because I'm SO anxious to start reading the third and final book of the Defectors Trilogy! What a great read! I was hooked from the beginning. Highly suggest this series to dystopian fans!
The whole, we have ti break someone else out of an impossibly and yet totally possibly situation is getting old. But I'll read the third, it's interesting enough...
