A Twist of Faerie

Rate this book
Cara is a librarian witch who has always been there for her sister. With her trusty coven and serious magical powers, she protects her sleepy town and her sibling at all costs - even making a wish for her. But when her sister goes missing, Cara finds herself in a land where the witchy rule book has gone out the window.

Aeban, a guard of the royal court, finds himself drawn to the confident human prisoner. But he knows that his mother, the queen, will never let Cara go. Soon enough, he finds himself torn between his blood and his heart.

A Twist of Faerie is a sweet portal fantasy romance spanning our world and the faerie realm.

I was the girl lost in books, but I never thought I'd be the one writing them.

After a massive earthquake, I travelled with my family to France and spent a year exploring and making plenty of faux pas along the way.

It was there, among the cobbled streets and palpable history that I started writing. And never stopped. I write the strange, the hidden, the psychological and the magical.

You can find me between dogs, kids and coffee cups in New Zealand.

I pushed through this book like my life depended on it. The book has potential to be something really cool, but it's failed in every sense. If you read this book, be prepared to be confused 90% of the time. I believe the author made a draft of the book and sent that to be published, instead of the finished work.

Spoilers:
Cara's sister Serena is kidnapped to the fae realm and she follows to find her. She gets imprisoned and meets Aeban, the prince.
You'd think with that as the main storyline Cara would be stressed af about finding her sister. BUT NOOOO, she goes to a library to read instead. And when she does ask or see her, she accepts a "she's fine" and moves on like nothings wrong.

There was so much half arsed information, I had to guess half the time what was really going on. The plot was extremely rushed and the conversations were so weird and made no sense at all. And don't even get me started on the non existent banter. The so called love story was so forced and cringe I had to laugh at the ridiculousness.

A sweet cozy faerie novella. I liked the dual point of view, and the premise of the story. Saving family, finding a soul mate and revealing corruption are all themes throughout the book.
I do think this needs more editing to garner a higher rating. Some of the story is disjointed, jumpy and awkward. The characters become very comfortable with each other too quickly, Cara completely disrobes in front of him with no hesitation at all, a stranger in a faerie land she doesn't know, where she is a prisoner.
The tension that is absolutely needed for a story like this is missing and so it's difficult to get lost in the tale.

A good prequel.

Cara is searching for her sister when she falls through a portal into the fae domain and is imprisoned. Her witch powers are shackled but Aeban, the guard who captured her and the queen's son, is drawn to her. He sees his realms injustices. He will fight to save his people and the human he has come to love.

This is a good paranormal adventure romance. The backstory of Cara, Aeban, and Serena sets the stage for the first book. I enjoyed the drama of the fae court. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

This is one of the worst things I’ve ever read in my entire life.
I thought about DNF it multiple times and it’s only like 200 pages.

The plot is all over the place and it feels like the book has 70 endings. Again it’s 200 pages.
