A promise to keep...

Honoring her mother's last wish, Lane Channing vows to follow her dreams. She takes the 'big risk' and leaves her small Kansas town behind and heads to LA, the city of dreams. She's got a stellar job lined up, an old jeep, and 20 bucks to last her to her first paycheck. Her hopes shatter when she arrives to find her job's been given to someone else. Now she's broke and if she doesn't do something fast will soon be living on the streets. Welcome to cutthroat -- Lane is most certainly not in Kansas anymore.

On the cusp of success...

Dillon MacAvoy has one goal -- to become a star -- whatever it takes. Even if it means honing his bad-boy can't-be-tamed-and-forever-single image. Besides the image isn't far from the truth. Dillon cares only about his younger brother and his career. He's on the brink of superstardom if he can just decide on the next right script. But for that, he needs a script reader he can trust.

In a strange twist of fate...

Lane Channing is Dillon's last chance. If Lane lasts the summer without becoming MacAvoy's latest conquest, she's guaranteed a job in entertainment. No problem, as long as she can ignore the heat that pulses through her every time Dillon is in the room. After all, love and commitment with a sweet, hometown girl would only ruin the Dillon MacAvoy brand.

… ugh romance.

Hard Glamour was not a book for me. At first, I was so freaking excited to dive into it. However, once I did.. I was just kind of like meh. The pages just seemed to keep flying by but I wasn't really interested in what was happening anymore. Maybe I've just read way too many romance books this week or maybe they just aren't what I'm looking for - I ended up a bit disappointed with this one.

Now the two main characters, Lane and Dillion were both kind of cute. They were cute to a point though. I honestly just couldn't fully like them. In some way, or another, they just ended up annoying me. Whether it was something they said or did - I was annoyed at the end of the day.

Overall, it was an easy book to read. It was predictable and everything kind of seemed to happen quite easily for them. They were an okay couple but I just couldn't get into them.

Hard Glamour for me was an introduction to Maggie Marr and I gotta say I'm an instant fan.

It's been a minute since I've read a Hollywood Bad Boy book and I definitely enjoyed this one. I'm a huge fan of the antiheros and Dillon does start of as a bit of an antihero for sure. He's definitely a bit of a jerk when he first meets Lane and part of me smirked a bit at that, call me weird but that first meeting with these two gave me high hopes for the rest of this book.

The chemistry between these two is hot and at first its definitely more angry hot then anything as these two banter back and forth as they fight their attraction to one another.

I'm all for emotion and as the story progresses we definitely do see emotions get involved especially when it comes to these two. Dillon turns out to be more then the bad boy persona he portrays and I definitely loved his softer side.

But the pressure of Hollywood are high and it's all about appearances right? Hollywood is suck a fickle place and this book definitely shows insane it can be. With feelings that run deep these two definitely have to find a way to navigate that lifestyle and this book was all about seeing whether they would come out unscathed.

A highly entertaining read and I found myself engrossed in it to the point where I devoured it in one sitting.

Lane Channing leaves her small town to follow her dreams and only the realise her dream job was taken. Being in a desperate situation, her only hope is Dillon MacAvoy, the upcoming Hollywood star.

What will happen with these two when they get closer? Lane is attracted to Dillion and working closely with him doesn't help her much. It was fun read and enjoyable read.

Sadly, I couldn't feel the connection between those two much.

So, if you are in the mood for glamour, pick this one up.

"Nothing is too much for you...I need you to know that, to understand. Nothing is too much for you, Lane...You are becoming my everything."

Wow, for my first Maggie Marr read I have to say that I actually enjoyed myself while reading this. I won't go as far to say that this was the best book I've ever read, but it did hit a sweet niche for me.

Hard Glamour was a light and sensual read that portrayed the sacrifices that we encounter in life.

From a small town girl leaving all that she knows and moving to the big city. And then being abruptly shoved into the cut throat world of fame and glamour.

To a guy trying to make something of himself while constantly under the eyes of Hollywood....

Who knows what a little "twist in fate" and brush with the lifestyles of the rich and the famous can bring two individuals from two completely different worlds?

SO, MY VERDICT: A lovely debut for me to be introduced into the world of Maggie Marr!! I definitely will be looking forward to more reads from her and am highly anticipating book two from this series!! Is it going to be on Dillon and Lane again? Nah, I can't be. Book one ended with a prevalent HEA that I don't want to be perturbed.

Hmmm.... Well, I hope book two will be on Amanda. I know many of you might want it to be on "Dillane" or even Choo but I want it to be Amanda. I really liked her and at first thought she was going to be a snarky *itch* but she turned out to be a great ally for Lane. Gosh, I'm so over thinking this! lol.

I'll end my review here then. :) Very brilliant read!

Lane Channing promised her dying mother that she would follow her dreams, and she's doing exactly that.  Driving two thousand miles from small town Kansas to the film world of Los Angeles, she's got the perfect summer job lined up, her first step to realizing her dream of working in the film industry.  What she doesn't expect, though, is to arrive and find that her "job" was nothing more than an unpaid internship.  And it's been given to someone else.  And her Jeep has disappeared.  With no money, no place to stay, and no one to turn to, she's completely lost in the city that was supposed to be everything for her.

Dillon MacAvoy is a star in the making.  He's got the looks, the talent, the reputation, and a chance to star in the next Steve Legend movie franchise.  But he has a stack of new scripts to read and no time between the set and his string of conquests, a list that includes all his former script readers.  If he doesn't find a new script reader soon, he risks losing everything he's worked so hard for.

You know what happens next, right?  Lane gets the job, and just in the nick of time, since she doesn't even have enough money for a night at a cheap hotel.  Now living in the mansion of Hollywood's next star, Lane's walking the dogs, reading the scripts, and trying not to drool every time she's around Dillon MacAvoy.  Dillon's more than a little infatuated, too, but he knows he can't have her.  Not only is she more than he deserves, but if he destroy's his womanizer image before he seals his next movie deals, his career will go into a tailspin.  Not that any of that matters when he finally breaks and kisses her.

In some ways, it was all too easy, too much, and too fast.  Lane had no sooner sat down on the sidewalk than she was saved by Dillon's job offer.  And when they fell into more than just script reader and employer, she had some self-confidence issues but no problem at all with Dillon's recent promiscuity.  I'm not saying she should hold the past completely against him, but where was her sense of self-preservation?  Most anyone else in that situation would have at least asked more questions, made sure they were on solid ground before moving into actual relationship territory.  Sure, she was more than a little naïve, but she wasn't stupid.  And the happily ever after... Well, that was another case of too easy.  They went from split to forever in about three seconds, and while yes, I wanted them to be together, I was looking for quite a bit more on the communication side of things.  Oh, and I'd still like to know what the hell actually happened to Lane's Jeep.

I couldn't connect with the characters as much as I would have hoped, but it was still a very entertaining read.  Hard Glamour took the whole rich and famous guy falls for the innocent nobody bit and played it without falling into the traps that many books like this do.  Lane was easy to love, and her naïveté wasn't overblown.  She wasn't anything like the entitled people she met in L.A., but she wasn't made out to be a lost hick from nowhere.  Dillon was a bit harder for me to like, probably because his sensitive side didn't come out much unless they were in bed.  But given how he was described, I can certainly understand how Lane fell in lust with him so quickly.  One glance at the bedroom scenes, and you will, too.

To say that this book was great would be an understatement. Ms Marr has created a masterpiece of entertainment. From the characters, to the plot, everything flowed so smoothly. I loved the characters in the book. They were all believable, just regular people, w/day to day drama, hopes, dreams, disappointments, joy, all the things that can make up an ordinary individual like myself's life, and not only someone like little ole me, but someone who as many of the characters in the book are, is a celebrity. I laughed, I cried, & I rooted for the hero & the heroine. There were moments when I wanted to get my hands on someone, and slap them upside the head. I was drawn in w/the very first sentence, & stayed that way until the last word. It was very hard to put the book down to do the day to day chores, & when I did, I swear I could hear it calling my name to pick it back up until I was finished w/whatever I was doing. I definitely give it a two thumbs up!!!

This was so good! There were a few cringe-worthy moments that I just couldn't get behind but overall this was a really good book.

In this book, you meet Lane who is a girl from a small town in Kansas. She has deceided to take an internship at an entertainment agency in Los Angeles. She mistakes the internship as paid and when she gets there she finds out the hard reality that she won't be getting paid for her internship. Then she finds out that they actually gave her spot away. So then she's double slapped by reality. She's homeless and broke. Then her Jeep gets impounded. She's just a hot mess after arriving to LA.

She runs into a hot af movie star who treats her like a piece of garbage and humiliates her in front of a growing crowd after she almost runs him over. So she really is just having the worst luck after coming to a totally new city.

Well, Lane finally has a bit of luck after meeting Choo, an amazingly funny, sweet, kind, gay guy. Who I must say, I totally fell in love with. (I love when there is a gay guy as a side character, they're always the best.) He gets her a job as a script reader for an up and coming actor. Well, that actor turns out to be the douche weed that humiliated her the day before. He's hot as sin, rude as hell, and super self-involved. But Lane is attracted to him nonetheless.

So obviously they're story evolves from there.

Now, let me mention the cringe-worthy moments. I'm going to put these in spoiler tags because... just because.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how Lane's character was spunky yet relatable. When she ends up working for an up and coming star she isnt trying to seduce him like all the other females around him. She is not looking for handouts or his money. Dillon is so lucky to have his brother around. Choo was probably my favorite character in this book. His personality was evident throughout the story as someone who would be fun to be around and a great friend. Dillon is trying his best to be there and support his brother all while coming into sudden fame. Lane is faced with homelessness when Choo comes to the rescue and offers her a job with living quarters. Dillon keeps sleeping with all his readers and then firing them. When things dont go as planned he is faced with the good possibility that he is going to lose the one he accidentally fell in love with. This is such a great love story with many twists and turns of the famous lifestyle.

This was a story of good girl meets bad boy. She knows he is trouble and she should stay away but the temptation is just too much for her.

Lane is from a small town in Kansas and leaves and heads to LA for an internship only to realize it has been given to someone else. Another opportunity falls into Lane's lap though unexpectantly with a rude stranger but very attractive stranger she had the unfortunate opportunity to run into earlier.

Dillon is an up and coming actor who is labeled 'the next big thing'. He has the personality to go along with it too. He oozes the part well because that is what his agent has been telling him to do so he will be successful in the business. His run-in with 'Dorothy' aka Lane though was never meant to be anything more than just a reader/dog walker job. She is too pure for him. She deserves someone much better than him.

The story was well written with lots of angst and drama for the main characters. I felt bad for Dillon because he truly wanted to do what was best for his younger brother and was having to sacrifice his own happiness in the process to a certain extent. Dillon and Lane had a raw passion.... she was so inexperienced while he had plenty to go around. Her innocence and his willingness to go slow and be patient with her was just wonderful! You could tell that Dillon's feelings were sincere and not just an act.

The secondary characters were great. You were able to get the feel of the hollywood drama that occurs in real life. The fake relationships that are made up for publicity purposes. The hidden affairs that are covered by other relationships and the truly happy couples that must remain hidden because then your movies wouldn't sale. I adored Dillon's devotion to his brother Choo. His need to protect him and take care of him when their parents wouldn't.

Great book! Can't wait to read the next one!

Reviewed this book from the older version..

This story is of Lane, a small town girl who is following her dreams to Hollywood only to find its not all it's cracked up to be..with no job and little money she hooks up with Dillion and up and rising star.

Lots of heat, attraction, super stardom, rich and famous are just some of the things happening in this story.

Cute romance

This book was sweet and it flew by. The pacing was good, with no boring moments. I was pretty impressed with Lane. I could never move across the country with no money and just make it work. She stayed true to herself and never tried to change. Dillon was the typical bad boy with a good heart, but I loved his dogs and his commitment to his brother. The story was entertaining and the romance scenes were fun.

I, like every other female who came into contact with Dillon MacAvoy, lusted after Mr. Chiseled Perfection. The difference? I could lust after him physically, but I wouldn't act on my attraction.

An endearing tale of a small town girl and the Hollywood movie star. I love these type of stories and Hard Glamour has done the theme justice. The characters are well rounded, the story flows beautifully and there's plenty of romance and swoonworthy moments.

Lane Channing has taken the "Big Risk" and driven out from Kansas to L.A to start her career in the entertainment industry. Things go downhill fairly quickly when she arrives to find no job, no where to stay and a few pennies in her pocket. Her luck quickly turns around when she is offered a job as Dillon MacAvoy's newest reader. Not an easy job, as Dillon has quite a reputation. Living up to his brands image of the forever single bad boy, Dillon is not interested in anyone special. Unfortunately Fate had another idea, and these two are drawn to one another, and unable to deny their attractions.

Choo was right. She was too good, too pure, too innocent - exactly what I'd want in a forever kind of girl, but not what I want for now. I wasn't ready for forever. I wasn't even close. Not now. Not anytime soon.

Maggie has created some really fantastic characters. I especially loved Dillon and the changes we see him go through. He's definitely got the Alpha male 'Movie Star' persona down pat. He's unbelievably attractive yet arrogant, self assured, cocky, possessive - all the qualities we've grown to love. As the story goes on and we read from his POV, you notice a shift, and its a great one! Dillon discussing his feelings, expressing his love and affection, HOLY HELL! This boy melted my kindle screen. He, himself struggles with the shift, making mistakes along the way, his emotions surprising him.

I loved Lane as well. She definitely portrays the small town girl, quiet and a little skittish, yet she is feisty and strong, all the things I enjoy in a Heroine. Lane exudes something that makes her special, something that draws people to her. She really gets put in some shitty situations, but she always manages to handle them well, I love that in a story. Lane tries her hardest to deny her feelings for Dillon, wanting to succeed in her job yet it becomes impossible. Their attraction is electric, and their pull is too strong to one another.

I couldn't help getting involved. I couldn't have stopped myself - I'd tried to stop myself, but the attraction, the want to be close to Dillon, no matter the cost, was too strong for me to repel. My attraction to Dillon was so powerful, so intense, that I'd risk my entire Hollywood career to see where this relationship between the two of us would go.

The story flows beautifully, moving at a pace that kept my attention the whole time. I love the Hollywood theme stories. The glitz, glamour, drama behind the scenes, its all so fascinating. Hard Glamour does it all justice. I'm looking forward to the next story in the series about Amanda and Ryan, this should be interesting!

☆☆☆ 4 STARS!!! ☆☆☆

→ FULL REVIEW: Click here ;)

Aside from the possibly accurate representation of the gritty Hollywood life, Maggie Marr brings to us a story about two people who couldn't be more opposite from each other. But, like they say, opposites attract. Dillon and Lane had such a strong connection from the very beginning and, for them to finally get their little bubble of happiness, they had to overcome challenges presented not only by them as individuals but also the shallowness of the entertainment world.

Lane Channing though. One of her first lines really stuck with me and I was like, "This girl is just YES!!!"

The Big risk is not that big when you have nothing left to lose.

So simple yet so potent. Absolutely beautiful!

After losing her internship, her jeep and probably her dignity, Lane was ready to give up until Choo swoops in like Superman and gave her a pretty damn good job....ish. Until she realized to Hollywood's latest Grade-A douchewaffle, Dillon MacAvoy.

This guy. was. a. dick. Trust me.

He was just such an asshole. Well, that's because that's the image he wants to sell to the media and, of course, who doesn't love another Hollywood bad boy? But he was already a dick to Lane when she first reached.

As they grew in their relationship, the buildup was full of ups and downs. It was fueled mainly by lust, how they could not keep their hands off each other. Dillon thinks that she's too good, too innocent for his world. Lane thinks that he deserves someone more of his league. And so the story goes.

By the end, this was them:

But then there's that one, ONE, thing that really... I didn't fucking get.

Lane, WHY WOULD YOU FALL FOR DILLON WHEN HE'S ALWAYS SUCH A DICK TO YOU??? and obviously the attraction initially was merely sex so, yeah, WHY???

Oh wait, there's a number two. Like, why, why, why would there be THAT in the ending? It's too cliché and if only the author didn't rush it so much then it would've been better.

Hard Glamour will take you on a emotional journey of heart. What the heart wants…well…is what the heart wants. I love reading bad boy/good girl romance. Maggie Marr puts together an amazing story about finding true love at the worst possible time. Dillon is a hot, sexy, and tattooed bad boy. I am a sucker for a smokin hot bad boy with tattoos. She had me hooked right then and there. Lane is an innocent from Kansas. Poor girl has to deal with the “Dorothy” comments quite a bit and I really feel her pain.

I love the tug of war relationship that Dillon and Lane have. He is such a jerk at first and she dishes it right back. He shows her kindness and she is sweet but then he is a jerk again. Dillon knows that Lane is untouchable. She is not the love ‘em and leave ‘em kind that Dillon is used to and well he needs a friggen reader because he has ran off everyone before her. He needs her help and so he will have to behave himself.

Lane knows that Dillon is a bad boy and that she was lucky to get this gig. As long as she does not sleep with him her future is secure at the agency. Since Lane has never been with a man that should be easy right? WRONG! She is attracted to Dillon as soon as she sees him let his guard down. He is sweet to his rescue dogs and very loyal to his brother Choo.

I loved this story. Dillon shows a side of himself to Lane that he has never shown anyone before. Her kindness, beauty, and understanding gets a hold of Dillon’s heart and will not let go. When Lane sees Dillon’s vulnerability she falls for him too. The sex is scorching hot. This review does come with a BOB warning. Dillon is an amazing lover that will have you squirming in your seat and seeking some relief. Hot Damn! What that man can do with his fingers and his tongue should be outlawed.

If you are a junkie like me and can’t get enough of “the bad boy falls for the good girl” smokin hot romance you will love Hard Glamour.

Hard Glamour is the first book in the Glamour series buy Maggie Marr. This is the second book that I’ve read by Ms. Marr, and I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoy her writing style. I love when I can read a story and find myself feeling different emotions, and I definitely did that with this story. I laughed, I cried, and I even had a few times that I received a few strange looks because I laughed out loud. I will be downloading more books by Maggie Marr.

Lane Channing is determined to follow her dreams of working in the entertainment business. Honoring her mother’s last wish, she leaves Kansas and heads to L.A. to the job she was hired to do for the summer. She’s got an old beat up jeep and twenty dollars in her pocket to last until she receives her first paycheck, but things do not go as planned when she finally arrives and finds out that her position was given to someone else. What is a girls supposed to do with no job and place to live?

Dillon MacAvoy is an up and coming movie star. His career and his brother are the only things that he cares about. He has the reputation of a bad boy, and sleeping with many women, including the women who have worked as his script reader. He has been offered many roles, but hasn’t read any of the scripts. He needs a new script reader, and soon. He has to find someone he can trust to choose the right scripts to accept. And it has to be someone he will not want to sleep with.

Lane is the only person available to work for Dillon. If she can last the entire summer working for him she is guaranteed a job with the agency that represents him. The only stipulation she has is that she cannot sleep with him. That will not be a problem. Right? Umm, that rule might be harder then she thought.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.

Lane Channing is a small town girl from Kansas, on her way to LA to make it in the entertainment industry. Little does she know, it’s gonna be a rough ride, and more than she ever expected! She shows up for her first day on the job, and finds out there actually is no job. Now she’s broke and basically homeless, and in need of a miracle.

Dillon MacAvoy is an up and coming movie action star, with an attitude to boot! He puts on this arrogant playboy persona, but behind the charade is a guy that wants to take care of the ones he loves, and have that love returned. With his busy schedule, he hires script readers to help him, but with that comes complications. He tends to sleep with his readers and then fire them.

Lane happens to meet a sweet guy named Choo on her first day in LA, and he soon becomes her saving grace. She gets a call saying the agency has found her a job, and when she knocks on the door to that new job, Choo happens to be there. She later finds out that Choo is the brother of Dillon, and Choo is shocked to hear that they’ve already met one another under awkward circumstances. Not to mention, Choo is freaking awesome, and I love him to pieces!

Lane is everything Dillon wants and needs in his life, but he’s afraid she’ll get hurt being in the middle of his chaotic lifestyle. She knows all about his womanizing past, and tries to keep it professional, but when feelings get involved, things always change. I love how Lane brings out Dillon’s loving emotional side, and how he willingly does it to be a better man for her.

I give Hard Glamour 4 Hollywood stars…

*This book was given to me for a fair and honest opinion*
Lane Channing is trying to follow her dreams and her mother’s final wishes. She drives to LA in her old Jeep just to find out that her “dream job” has been given away. Taking pity on her, the agency offers her a script reading position with mega-hot, mega-watt superstar Dillon MacAvoy. If she stays “just” his script reader for the whole summer, her dream job is hers for the taking. The only problem – her attraction to Dillon is white hot and the lure of his bed may be more then Lane can resist.

Lane and Dillon – wow – they have some searing chemistry. They are like two magnets drawn together, trying to pull apart from each other but snapping back time and again. I loved Lane’s sassiness and Dillon’s charm. Although, I did not feel overly attached to the characters I was completely in their corner routing for them.

*There were a couple times that if Dillon were in front of me I would have kicked him in his “little Dillon” – just a warning ;-) *

By far my favorite character in the whole book was Choo. I would be all over a book where he was the main character. He was funny, sweet, supportive, fun and an all around good guy. LOVE HIM!!!!

Hard Glamour is not an angst fest but it will keep your attention with the will they or won’t they aspect. I love Maggie’s writing – it is plot driven, concise, keeps you guessing and she weaves a good, lusty romance. I will be waiting impatiently for her next book to come out!!!!

To date Maggie Marr's best book! Loved it. It's a light, read (definitely for adults) :) but I like every character and looking forward to the series. I don't think I ever feel this way about "light reads".
I really wish goodreads had sections for ratings as I'm giving this a 5 rating for the type of book it is. don't pick it up to compare it to a different type of writing. Coming off of an intense series like Consequences, it was wonderful to enter the Hollywood adventure of Lane and the whirlwind Choo's idea caused her - a Big Risk for a Big rollercoaster of a summer :) Can't wait for #2 Maggie

Lane moves to LA to follow her dream to work in the movie business. Her mom passed away and moving to LA was a promise she made her mom. Dillon is a new coming actor who is focusing on his career and the image he has worked on to become famous.
Meeting Lane completely upends everything in his life and he starts to question if his career is that important to him.

I really love this type of romance. Big movie star falling in love with a regular person. It's a bit cheesy and extreme but a fun and feel good read

I was really surprised how much I liked this book. I loved all the characters. I was sad that Choo didn't keep calling Laney, Kansas or Dorothy. I can't wait to read Amanda and Ryan's HEA.

My Review

***4.5 Stars***

I was in the mood for a book with a bad boys, smart mouths and steamy sex scenes and this book delivered!

I love these kinds of books! I fell in love with Hollywood Romances when I first read Love Unscripted by Tina Reber and NOTHING has come close to it... Until This!

The story starts with Lane Channing starting out to L.A. for a summer job at the most prestigious talent agency in town. The past year has been hard, her mother recently passed away and she is all on her own, but her mother made her promise to reach for her dreams of working in Hollywood. This is her Big Risk. Leaving it all behind for a summer in only her jeep and the money in her pocket (which is so little its actually sad).
The Big Risk is not that big when you have nothing left to lose

On her first day there she decides to take a drive around the city and nearly hits a man in the street, that man happens to be Dillon MacAvoy, up-and-coming actor, bad-boy, man-whore extraordinaire. Was this love at first sight? I think not....
"Maybe you should pay attention to where you're going instead of craning your neck at a film set." His voice grew louder with each word. "There are barricades all over the street so some no-name person like you doesn't run over someone like me."
Someone like him? I found the urge to shove the stick into reverse, back up, then ram it into first, hit the accelerator, and let this asshole know just what it would feel like for this no-name someone to run over his ass.

Now, even without almost running someone over, her day could not have turned out worse. It turns out that internships in L.A. aren't like internships in Kansas. They're unpaid. On top of that, they already gave her spot away to someone with connections. So she is left with close to 20 bucks and her jeep. No where to go. No money... until her jeep is towed... then its just 20 bucks. So thankfully a man she met at the talent agency, and all around FABULOUS character Choo saves the day!!

Turns out Choo's brother is in a tight spot and needs a reader. Someone to read his scripts and walk his dogs, what he doesn't realize is that his brother was almost run over by Lane earlier in the day. Dillon asked for an ugly person or a man to be his reader, because he can't help that he has gone through 4 readers in 6 months because he keeps sleeping with them. But although Lane is gorgeous, she is also untouchable... she is pure, and Dillon doesn't do pure. He does easy.
I had rules with women. One of them was not messing around with purity. If a girl wanted to throw herself at me, who was I to say no? Especially the easy lays that inhabited L.A. I was quickly becoming a trophy for some of these girls - they wanted to sleep with an actor, especially an actor on the rise. I could walk into any club and walk out with nearly any piece of ass. Perfect. No problem. Those were a different type of girl, those were the type of girl that Lane Channing wasn't. I could tell just by being in the same room with her. But I could also tell she was gorgeous, and rules or no rules, I didn't need her in my space all the time....
I glanced up toward the top of the stairs. My heart thwapped in my chest. She wore a dress, if you could call it a dress, more like a long shirt. Her legs gleamed. From where I stood, I could see way too far up her thigh to a tiny patch of lace at the top of her leg. I tried to pull my eyes from her, but I couldn't. Rules of no, I was so completely and utterly screwed.

So what happens with Dillon, Choo and Lane in a house together???? You will have to read and see!!

This story was about so much more than just a hollywood romance; it was about family and what lengths you would go to, to protect them and protect their future, the nastiness of Hollywood and why it destroys people, and perception: what is real, and what they want you to believe is real. Dillon is the product of marketing and PR and just as they are making him a star, they can easily take it all away from him if he doesn't fall in line.

I loved Lane. She was strong, independent and smart, and I can't say that for many female characters that I read lately. I respected her and I thought if I were in her position I would hope to be as incredible as her.

Dillon... well lets just say I am fantasizing about a tattoo that go down his back and still wondering where it ends. I loved him and I loved to hate him. I understood what he did and why he did it but it doesn't mean I always agreed with it.

Choo... Dillons brother was amazeballs. I love this guy! Seriously... give me his book! I just know there is so much more complexity lurking under his surface and I want to dive into his head.

Amanda... she quickly became BFF's with Lane and I didn't understand parts of her character, she was still a bit mysterious to me at the end of this book. She has secrets that I can't wait to read more about, and thankfully she is the centre of book 2 in this series which is expected to release in March.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am almost wanting to email the author and BEG for the next one! If you decide to give it a read be sure to let me know your thoughts!  - xoxo

Hard Glamour by Maggie Marr is the 1st book in the Glamour Series and can be read as a standalone in this new series.
Lane Channing decides to follow her dream and ends up in Los Angeles for the summer. But nothing happens like she expected things to. Her job is gone, she's completely broke and has no home. She thought she would get that " break" but nothing happens and everything goes bad for her but then she catches a break- she gets a chance to work for Dillon MacAvoy. He is a fast rising movie star, Hollywood's bad boy. He only cares for his career and his brother.
Lane becomes his script reader. The sexual tension is deep between them which one thing leads to another. Dillion isnt sure what he wants with Lane and the angst runs high in this read. Soon he has to decide, love or career for Lane isnt about to be 2nd in his life forever and the choice he makes was the wrong one. Can Dillion make things right and end up with the Hollywood ending? Can the shine still keep or will it end up tarnished by the "Hard Glamour" ? This is a good first start to a new series by Maggie Marr and the pairing of Dillion and Lane is amazing.

This is one of those story that once you started reading you don’t want to put it down until the end. Not a unique storyline but so well written that you fall in love with the wonderful characters. Lane as the Kansas beauty running from a hard knocks life all the way to L.A. looking for a new life in the movie biz. Dillion as the “next big thing” is a hottie and up and coming action movie star. And they hate each other after a disastrous first meeting but she needs a job and he needs her help. Lots of emotion between these two. He sees Lane as too perfect for him and she sees more than the arrogant movie star. He’s got another side that includes his brother and their menagerie. The hate turns to a steamy romance and were off to a fabulous ending. I loved Dillion’s brother, Choo! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

****ARC Received for Honest Review****

I really did enjoy this first book in this series and I so excited to start the second book. The story of Lane and her taking the giant leap to move to Los Angeles from Kansas only to get there and everything she thought was setup and ready, has left her in a big city, with no job and knowing no one.

Then you have have Dillon, who thinks only of his rain to stardom and his brother. He is all about what is going to make him get to the top and nothing can get in his way…even the person that he finds to help him in his goal of obtaining that fame, Lane. He has to try to dodge the flames of the heat they are both are feeling. The problem will be if they both can avoid the fallout-Review by Catherine(Catty)
