Tangled #4

Tangled Beginning

Rate this book
A decade ago, Delaney Hargrove was the prom queen. I was her brother's best friend and the band geek hopelessly in love with her. But I didn’t think she could ever feel the same way about me and let her go without knowing the truth.

Now, she’s back home, and I’m determined to show her I’m not the bumbling boy she used to know. I’m a man who remembers how sensitive the skin behind her ear is when I kiss it and who's learned how to make her skin flush a pretty pink. Though it will take more than that to truly win her over.

All I have to do is prove I won’t break her heart. Which turns out to be harder than I expected when she’s mistrustful after a bad break-up.

But I’m not giving up. I won’t waste my second chance on a new beginning with my first love.

Content Note: Tangled Beginning is the story of a golden retriever hero and the girl he'd follow to the end of the earth with plenty of open door romance. Please be aware one of the main characters was cheated on and a secondary characters is diagnosed with Huntington's disease. There are also multiple discussions about adoption.

hey ethan! yeah, so no means no, even if you have history with the girl from high school. if she’s not ready to date you, maybe don’t ambush her with a date with your nephew, yeah? okay cool!

This is a very cute, like heart achingly sweet romance book. It’s a second chance romance which are also so good and you can’t help but love the characters.

The book is written really well, it’s a bit fast paced in some areas. But I did enjoy it. It’s a cute easy nice feel good read.

Some reviews didn’t like Ethan and I think he was a great MMC he wasn’t pushy, very cute and honestly i had a soft spot for him.

Where to start?
Maybe with the fact how EXTREMELY persistent Ethan is. God. It's not even describable outside the book 🙈 It's incredible. He is incredible. He is so endlessly in love with his Lane 🥰 for 10 freaking years!
He may not be the strong, tall, muscular man... But I love the nerds too. And he is still 🔥 soo 🔥 🥵

And...
I knew what a sleazeball Bobby is!!! Everyone knew. Except for Laney 😞 Btw Bobby was Laney's boyfriend during the other books. It's not just the 4 girls who have a wonderful friendship, no, with every boyfriend the group gets stronger. And the men have a strong friendship too. There is not just the girls' chat group. No, there is a girls' and guys' chat group, and also a boys' chat group. But guess... Yeah, Bobby never wanted to be a part of it 🤬

Oh, about the chat groups... 🤣🤣🤣 There is this one scene in particular. When Laney was at a "party" and bought early Christmas presents for the girls... (very early because it's only March 🤣). And when they arrive at the girls... OMG, these chats. I would have loved to read it from the guy's POV too, not "just" the girls and mixed groups 😎

This book is not just about Laney and Ethan's story. It also includes a lot about Huntington's disease because of Ethan's brother. Sure, I heard about it, but I didn't really know anything about it. And I love how this book raises awareness for it 👍

This is the last book of the 🍀 girlfriend group. I'll miss them. But I hope they will at least appear every now and then in the other books.

Not the next book in this series, but I already saw that there is a book about Dean, Laney's twin brother. YAY, because I hoped for a book about him 🤩 I love him 🩷

I enjoyed this book but did find it a bit cheesy and cliché. Was my first book on my new kindle so just wanted something easy.

A super cute read with no 3rd act breakup! It was like walking down memory lane with Delaney and Ethan, revisiting high school crushes and drama. Great how they both learned how to manage their own personal baggage. Minus one star for vegetarians…it’s not a necessary detail in this story!

Tangled Beginning is so heart-achingly good! Laney is the perfect girl next door. She’s gorgeous, athletic, from an affluent family, and the most popular girl in her high school. Her heart is stolen when she meets Ethan, the nerdy, band kid who recently started at her high school and befriended her twin brother. After dancing around their feelings they finally take the dive with each other and it ends more like a nose dive.

Years later, Laney returns home, nursing a broken heart and a lost career. Ethan doesn’t hesitate for one second to do what he should have done 10 years earlier, make the woman of his dreams his.

Laney is struggling to find herself and is tired of hiding behind her facade of the happy, popular person and Ethan is the only one who gets her. She desperately wants to be wanted for her and is so afraid she’ll fall victim to the same situation she just got herself out of. But Ethan is 100% up for the challenge, relentlessly pursuing her and getting her to see that life is still wonderful and building her back up. I adored his tenacity and it almost made this a forced proximity love story with how he wouldn’t back down and always found a way to be near her.

Lovable characters, engaging story, and such a feel good romance. I also loved the cameos of all the Tangled Series characters as always!

3 ⭐️ - originally gave this 4 stars and i’m thinking i might need to be a bit harsher with my ratings bc i give literally everything 4 stars and this is def not equivalent to some books i truly believed to be 4 stars..

BUT i got this for free bc of stuff your kindle day, and it doesn’t look like much but honesty it wasn’t bad! it’s exactly what you think it would be, which is something i appreciate about romance novels like this. the writing was good, the pacing was.. hmmm perhaps a little fast but its a second chance story so SURE and the characters were very likable.

the only parts abt this that i was kinda caught up on were that all laney talked abt it in the beginning was that ethan broke her heart before and she’d never daught him yadda yadda but she would continuously egg him on and entertain the idea of them being together like girl… and some reviews said ethan was kinda pushy which i have to disagree with bc he really wasn’t that pushy considering she never asked him to stop or made it obvious she didn’t like it and she was vey much into it.

overall a fun very quick easy read got me out of my mini slump !!

Tangled Beginning

This is a second chance, romance novel. Laney and Ethan were dating back when they were in high school. But then Ethan went away to college and their communication with each other fell apart. Laney went on to get into a relationship with a TV chef, which inevitably fell apart and sent her back home to her hometown brokenhearted. She meets up with Ethan again because Ethan is her brother‘s best friend. This was a beautifully told story, that has you falling in love with the characters as well as feeling empathy for some of the side characters and anger towards others. This was my first time, reading a book from this author and I completely loved everything about this book. I definitely - definitely recommend reading it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tangled Beginning is about Delaney & Ethan. Ethan is best friends with Delaney’s brother, Dean. Ethan & Delaney had a secret relationship back when they were 18 which unfortunately ended. But now after a bad breakup, Delaney is back in town and Ethan finds this as his chance to get her back.
This was a little fast paced at times for me. She comes back into town and he instantly is in love with her again and trying to get her back. I personally didn’t feel the chemistry between the two. That being said, it was a cute second chance story. There is a cute found family aspect with Delaney’s best friends too.

Solidly alright.

I'm a little perturbed that this story is about reconnecting years after their connection in high school, but it turns out they barely knew each other a year, barely dated a couple weeks, and never told anyone. When he thinks of "my highschool girlfriend" when thinking about Valentine's Day of his senior year, it isn't her he's thinking of. Also, 0 to 60 really quickly and stayed there pretty conflict-free until toward the end. It felt a little odd and left out the possibility of much angst or pining.

friends to lovers, brothers best friend and second chance all mixed into one! i'm a sucker for these tropes. i liked this story, i just wish it was longer! especially with those three tropes, i would've loved a bit more backstory. i liked learning about ethan's adoption story and the love and support in ethan's family about his brothers huntington's disease diagnosis. again, i just wish this was a bit longer.

I found this to be a cute second chance romance with great characters and storyline. Delaney & Ethan both get that second chance at love that they both missed out on back in their high school years. There were a few little hiccups along the way to their HEA – Bobby for one, trust was another, but in the end all works out!

needs an editor

Author goes between first person and third person in the same sentence throughout the book which can be extremely annoying. She needs to decide if she wants to write in first person or third person and stick to it. Switching it up let alone in a 7 word sentence is so confusing. If you have an editing team, I would be looking for a new one.

Ok read good friend to fiance plot

Romance level: open door after knowing each other long time.
Both leads have good friendships and are not isolated.
Family portrayed well.

Some grammar issues, some slow parts.

A second chance at love! I enjoy any good romance story with a happy ending. Ethan came on a little too strong but in the end, it all worked out!

Catching up with this series after a long time. I'd say this one is the spiciest than the other three 🥵
