Great premise, but fell short for me. The story felt rushed and awkward. I wanted to know more about the characters. Kim was in a relationship with her brother Damien (unbeknownst to her), they broke it off and she hooked up with his half-brother Kent and tried to pass the baby off as his. Immediately there was a lot going on and I was a little confused as to who was related to who. In the opening chapter, both Kent and Damien's mothers are struggling with the realization that Kim is passing Damien's baby off as Kent's and their relationship is so twisted as well, I wasn't sure if the story was about the mothers or the kids. I think the first chapter could have been left out since it didn't involve the main characters. I also had no idea what the characters even looked like. There was no mention of physical characteristics. I just assumed I was reading an IR book because the woman was African American on the cover. It wasn't mentioned that she was black until 75% of the way through. Other than a reference to her darker skin, Neither Kim nor Damien or Kent had any type of physical characteristics described. There were also a lot of unanswered questions as well. l wanted to know why Damien was obsessed with Kim, I wanted to know why Damien's grandfather would play with his mind and set him up, I wanted to know more about Damien and Kim's relationship. I just needed more with this book, I didn't feel plot points were followed and areas that should have been at the climax happened too early. I don't like giving negative reviews, but I feel this story needs more work because the premise was very interesting and could make for a really good book.

A crazy grandfather and crazy brother, wow, I loved it. The drama in this book is an eye opener. Can't wait for the next book, I hope it has the same amount of drama in it. ;)

My first go-round with this author and it was an amazing ride. Great book. I'm a fan for life.

What a tangled web it is. The moment I started reading the book, I was thinking please don't let the baby Kimberly's carrying belong to Damien, her half-brother. Please let it be Kent or someone else's baby. I feel so bad for Kent. He fell in love with the wrong woman and got his heart broken into a million tiny pieces. I'm thinking all of this until I find out the baby can now possibly be Kent's. And then I keep reading on and find out that Damien has lost his mind. And he's up to something. Kept reading on to discover that the grandfather, Luke, is as evil as they come. I do feel a little sorry for Damien that is until he hits Kimberly. I have no respect for men who do that to women. All in all, this was a great read and I recommend it to anyone who's looking for something with plot twists and drama.

Wow, poor Kimberly …!!! I can only imagine to find out that your boyfriend that you very much in love with is in fact your brother & the possibility that you might be caring his child !? And poor Damien ! no wonder he went kookoo! Vivian doesn’t show any love or acknowledge Damien !? why? did she finally tell James? Damien is reaching and I hope his parents finally come through. He needed help not prison, I don’t condone what he did to Kimberly… Luke was the sick manipulator who Karma paid a visit 😁
Glad Kent found a little compassion towards him.

What started as awkward ended up for the best. Falling in love as a college undergraduate an then to find out he's your half Brother. However, his room mate loved her from the moment he met her. Kent is the man you want to bring home to meet your parents. When Kent finds out his beloved held that secret he was lost an broken, but he didn't give up on love. Romantic, suspenseful a nice read.

This is the first book I've read from this author, and I really enjoyed the book. There is a lot of drama and suspense. It definitely kept my interest. I stayed up until after 2 am. to finish it.

1.50 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle E-book. I read better than 75% of this story before I gave up and DNF’ed the book . The storyline of the romance of Kimberly Jordan and Kent Davenport and its incestuous subtext is too convoluted and nonsensical to follow.

I was disappointed with this book. The story premise was great. I was confused initially with the characters, but then I became immediately irritated with Kim. She was portrayed as being intelligent but, in my opinion, she was dumb as f**k! The victim to me was Kent. I felt like there should have been a prior story that led to this story that gives more insight into the characters before this story. The author explains about Kent, Kim & Damian but lead in with the lost friendship with the mothers.

I absolutely hated this book. It took me nearly a month to finish it because I could only read a chapter or two at a time before I had to stop. I only finished it because it was part of one of my Goodreads 2025 challenge books and I am so relieved it is over.
The story was full of cliches: the character types, the dialogue, even the plot. Speaking to the plot, it was an extremely disjointed. The author gave no signposts for the time shifts between the present and the past, leaving me in a constant state of confusion about when events were taking place and which events occurred first. I never connected with the characters.
I don't consider this next part to be a spoiler since the plot synopsis mentions it but I was looking for there to be some kind of process the heroine went through to come to the conclusion that she should try to pass one man's baby off as another man's baby but the author didn't really present one. I was left feeling like the main heroine just decided 'oh well, I can't tell the real father because that would be embarrassing, so I may as well use this other poor sap'. As for that 'other poor sap', the author didn't seem to be sure about whether he was a decent guy hopelessly in love with a girl or whether he was a player who was done with being used.
The storyline holds a lot of potential and I'm hoping this was one of the author's earlier works tha will get a revision once the author has matured in her writing.
All in all, I unfortunately have to place this story in my worst ever category.

This book is currently in its third (Anniversary) edition.
The second edition was published May 30, 2013 with minor changes and additions.
The anniversary (April 2014) edition has been significantly modified from the earlier editions.
Sections have been added, cut, and moved from one chapter to another, amongst other changes and revisions (such as the addition of chapter titles and an epilogue).
The latest edition is available in print as of April, 2014.
