BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
1st reading: Decently written from a grammar/punctuation/prose standpoint (though there are some odd punctuation issues as in other books by this author). Basic plot and characters with little development over the course of the book. One thing I have very little patience for is adding a baby/pregnancy as a plot device. It's lazy, especially in a romantic novel. (It's different if it's the main premise of the story.) It's basically the author saying s/he can't figure out how else to introduce conflict between the main characters. And this story already has plenty of conflict that doesn't warrant the addition of an unnecessary baby. The obvious issues of the coach being a constant source of contention because he's basically dictating their personal lives, then his obviously exploitation of Ryder's moment of vulnerability and pushing through the trade to another team. Ryder's absence... I would have made more of that. The Raptors make it to the playoffs - how does that affect the embargo on their sex lives? But even with the baby, there are so many questions left unanswered. How does the coach react when he finds out about the pregnancy, and how does he justify continuing to insist on the four of them staying apart during the season? Again with Ryder's absence... How does the relationship - and the parenting - continue with his home now being halfway across the country? He's obviously absolutely smitten with his daughter; having to be stationed so far away during the season, when the other two are in town, is going to have an impact. Now that the season's over, does that mean the four of them are free to be open about their relationship, even going forward into the next season? And a minor side plot - whatever happened to Ryder's foster brother Pete? So. Many. Wasted opportunities in this story. There's also a continuity error. In the first book we learn that Ryder lives in a gated community where you have to be buzzed in. Yet Harlow arrives at his house unannounced, and Ash and Soren don't get buzzed in... Have they been given access to enter the community as if they're residents? A minor point, but still, it would have been nice to have this detail mentioned. Also minor points that I haven't brought up earlier in the series reviews: A team sport such as hockey typically includes a team captain, but there's no mention of such a thing for the Raptors. Also, hockey teams need goalies, and there's no mention of the goalie(s). Both of these positions are pretty freaking significant within a team setting, and yet they're completely ignored by the author. While the author's command of prose is better than average (though not as good in my opinion as in the Highest Bidder series), this story is lackluster at best. Plot development is minimal, and the characters leave a lot to be desired, both in their basic makeup and in their growth over the series. I may take a chance on one or two other of this author's series, but having such diverse experiences - a fabulous one with Highest Bidder and a disappointing one with Raptors - I'm not convinced it's worth my time.

This is the final book in this series were everything is in chaos when someone discovers the secret relationship between,Hockey players Ash,Ryder,Soren and the woman they have all fallen in love with Harlow. Harlow who was hired by the Raptors to help with the Hockey players psychological/mental health. Someone has told the Coach about Harlows relationship with his 3 Hockey players and team mates, and he is not happy at all so angry none of them know what will happen with their jobs. Harlow is the one effected most she has no idea if the coach will fire her or not and she is left in despair. But that is not the only obstacle they have to come across..Ryder has been traded to another team in another state. How can their relationship stay together if Ryder is no longer there,as they had an agreement to never be intimate unless it was all 4 of them. Then there is small discovery of Harlow being pregnant.!!! Who is the FATHER !? How will Ash,Ryder and Soen react to the news,as only one of them is the actual Father?.. It is a real rollercoaster of emotions and a mountain of events that could possibly break up these 4 people who LOve eachother. Their relationship may be unconventional and frowned upon but one thing is clear they all Love one another and they are determined to work through all the obstacles in their way. I enjoyed this story and it kept me turning the pages as I was so intrigued about what would happen with Ash,Soren,Ryder and Harlow. Could they have a HEA.? Charlotte Byrd really did keep me wondering with her writing. Puck It is a satisfying conclusion to this 4 way romance. fantastic read. 5 Stars.
So many wasted opportunities. So many potentially interesting idea’s abandoned. Shame that the 1st 35% -up to chapter13 is wallowing over being outed to the coach. This was a theme, each book had long spans of filler pages where frustratingly nothing is progressing.
The idea of a mental health professional, personally being immature, out of control, and not able to put yourself in higher regard is not a good read to me.
So what happened to Ruby?? If you’re on your own with apparently 1 new friend (Corey) would you not pick up the phone and call your long time bestie…. Nope
What happened to Pete….. you can’t save everyone but some kind closure
Never any contact or reaction from Soren’s family, no word on Ash’s family’s reaction
No resolution on Ryder being sent to Minnesota, none of these guys have agents.
The Raptors never seem to have road trips, the best players are not on the second line
They never address living quarters, her rental might be great but not so much with 4 adults and a baby
They never figure out individual relationships have value
They haven’t shared their relationship with teammates or stepped out in public
They literally hook up only when they’re all together and appx 6 times throughout a 4 book series, thing is until she’s pregnant (even then it’s off page and vaguely referenced) they rarely spend any time together. A solid 75% + of this series they are distanced from FMC.
This is a HFN at best..

This is book four in The Raptors Hockey Why Choose Romance series and it Concludes Harlow’s story. Harlow found love with three men Ash, Soren and Ryder and they have kept this relationship a secret so far especially as Harlow is there teams psychologist and this relationship is way out of the boundaries of being inappropriate and could completely compromise and derail all of there careers and then everything comes to a head only for Harlow to find out that she is pregnant but who is the father of her baby so now even more things are complicated and they all wonder if there relationship will survive or will everything eventually fall apart devastating them all especially with all the obstacles that are in the way of there happiness and future together. What a tangled web this story weaves as they all go through the motions along with the twists and turns andyour emotions will be all over the place as they all battle and work to keep together because the love and connection that is between them all is as strong and intense as ever. I am so sad to see the end of this series but what a outcome and a way to end it. I can’t wait to see what Charlotte Byrd writes next and I will definitely be there to read it.
Conclusion to the series. And it was a journey to get here. Then beginning of the book is turbulent and unsure. But the group bands together to support Harlow.
Things settle down and they learn to navigate the new relationship and then boom… bump in the road. But this time it doesn’t tear them apart. It makes them come together stronger than ever.
I don’t love this series as a why choose. It’s a great series. And I enjoyed reading it. But I never felt like their group dynamic ever got fully fleshed out. Or that the way they supported each other was really depicted in a complete way.
The plot is good. And the characters themselves our great. But I’m a huge why choose fan. And this just didn’t fully hit the mark in that department for me. But it is a good series overall. With a solid HEA in this book.

How could love grow even more intense with this foursome? Throw in a baby. This foursome has worked very hard to keep their unusual relationship a secret; however, the head coach finds out and he is not sure how to handle the situation. In the end, you find out each hockey player grows in their unique relationship and they all realize they can't live without each other. The last installment of this great story just shows no matter what type of relationship someone is in, whether traditional or non-traditional, LOVE is at the heart of the relationship. I have LOVED seeing this unconventional relationship blossom and grow. This installment was a great way to end the series. Charlotte wrapped up the relationship for now; however, there is room to revisit this group. Hint Hint Charlotte. You will not be disappointed with this series.
Harlow continues to struggle with her emotions and unethical relationship with Ash, Soren and Ryder when confronted by Coach Kozak . He knows what’s been happening between all four of them and they have no clue how he found out. This last instalment is filled with overwhelming emotions, unexpected pregnancy catching everyone off guard and struggles they never saw coming! However, their bond is a very strong one that can’t be broken , the love they share is unconditional and real and they’re determined to form a family. Charlotte’s is fast becoming one of my favourite author and this series is extremely addictive, enthralling, compelling and captivating ! An absolute must read! A 5 stars ⭐️ and more rating!
OMG, what a wonderful end to this series what more can you ask for a baby and three dads that adore Harlow.
When Harlow realised that the Coach knew about them she was scared she was going to lose her job and career, so she stayed at home, after a few times being sick, she took a pregnancy test and it was positive....what would she do now as she didn't know which one of them was the father, she was scared to tell them.
This book is the most intense of the series but so beautifully written, I love Harlow, Ash, Soren and Ryder, they are all different and make the book a page-turner. I love their HEA, congratulations Charlotte on yet another fantastic book, 5 stars aren't enough for this one.
Coach of the team finds out about Harlow, Ryder, Soren, and Ash’s relationship. How he finds out is a mystery at first, and then a blow right to the gut. The condition the coach gives Harlow is that they are not to touch each other during hockey season. Soon after that they all get a surprise from Harlow. What to do, what to do? This conclusion has some intense and emotional moments in it. Will this relationship all work out for them? This is a wonderful read and keeps you glued to the pages to take the ride along with them. I loved every minute of it!
Holy smokes! This is an amazing ride that is brought together so well. These four characters have absolutely attached themselves in my heart since their first book and their journey took me through their ups and downs, the good, the bad, the struggles, and the connection that just got stronger and stronger as their story progressed. I loved this book, seeing how well Harlow, Soren, Ash, and Ryder are together and where that takes them. Of course, there's amazing heat, and a story that kept the pages turning. Well done!

What an awesome ending to this series. When the coach notices, Ash, Ryder and Soren, fighting on the ice, he just knows it’s because of a woman. When he confronts, Harlow, she is destroyed. She loves all three of them, and could never choose just one, but losing her men, losing her job, and losing her license has put her stress over the top. Two surprises in the story could tear them all apart, but the men proclaim they love her forever, and they will make it work. What an awesome series. You will fall in love with all three men too because of the way they desperately love Harlow. Great, great book.
Puck It is the intense conclusion to the Raptors Hockey Why Choose Series. Harlow, Ash, Soren, and Ryder are thrown more obstacle as the coach now knows about their secrest. More drama ensues as these four learn to navigate their secret as changes are happening all around them. I really enjoyed this book and this series. My only complaint is that the guys never really got over their jealousy of each other. The fact that they can only be together if all of them are together, takes away from dynamics of their individual relationships with Harlow. Overall this is a great book, with a lot of emotions and some smoking hot chemistry. I definitely recommend this series.
This is such a cute, fun little MMFM series that I get so excited to read each time a book drops on my kindle. The ending of this book was a little ambiguous on whether it will be over or not, but I hope to see these characters at a later point either way.
With the stigma of these types of relationships, and the public nature of their careers I do love the realistic ending the book presented. It keeps the story grounded and keeps the emotional connection to the issues stronger as you want them to figure out how to make it all work!
Hockey Romance / Why Choose / Workplace Angst / HEA
This is Book Four of the Palm Springs Raptors Series. Harlow is in a secret relationship with three hockey players … secret because she’s their team therapist. In this final book of the series their secret has been discovered by the team coach. Harlow fears she’s lost her job and her license but, the coach hasn’t taken any action. This was a nice wrap up to the series, there were some areas I felt were left undone, but overall it was an enjoyable read.
An amazing final instalment of this wonderful book. Harlow’s relationship with her trio of hockey players has been discovered and things at work are awkward but after some truths, a promise and a unexpected surprise their love for each other is stronger than ever. Likeable characters especially the MCs, little steam and a beautiful ending. I have loved this series and highly recommend if you enjoy why choose tropes. Brilliant.
Perfect ending to the series! The author does a terrific job describing her scenes as she brings out all the emotions. They are tested with many obstacles as they work through and hang onto their relationship. It's well written, moves fluidly and is a fantastic book/series. Highly recommend reading.

This was a fantastic conclusion to Ash, Soren, Ryder and Harlow's story. I could definitely read more of their story. I really loved seeing all the character and emotional growth and the true commitment to their unique relationship. Definitely was not expecting the twists but these four have definitely taken a journey together. Love their HEA.

Conclusion to this series and it makes you fall even more for this foursome. Harlow is a strong woman but can’t get any of these guys out of her heart. Ash, Soren, and Ryder will do anything for Harlow. Protecting her is at the top. When things come out about their secrets they still stick together. Then all of their lives change when they find out Harlow is pregnant. Outstanding story of no matter what kind of relationship you have love will win.
I read the whole series while on a month holiday in Mauritius. I loved all the books and the series had a great ending. Nothing was spoiled when the Captors became the Blackhawks or when Soren changed to Sawyer the tale ran so smoothly that I just carried on enjoying. This unique relationship was completely captivating. I only wish I knew what happened to Ryder's kid brother.
This was the dumbest book I have ever attempted to read. The concept is stupid and so is the story. The chic has anxiety and is a physiologist. Spare me. She can’t even make up her mind which man she wants but wants all three. Sounds more like a sex starved idiot that can’t get enough. Where in this life do you find three men who want to share? Obviously they are as wishy washy and morally stupid as her. Sorry but this did not do it for me. Too stupid!
This is the fourth and last book in the series. Emotions run high with Harlow and her guys in this one for sure. I can honestly say I’m sad this is the last book. I just love all of them. Especially the guys, I could never get enough of them! Loved the ending and it was a amazing read for me. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it!
Puck It is the conclusion of Harlow,Ash, Ryder, and Soren’s reverse harem romance. Their story finds the characters experiencing strong emotions, possible job loss, separation, a health decision, and finding a family. This well written book has amazing characters and unexpected plot twists.
I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book was the perfect way to bring Harlow, Ash, Ryder, and Soren’s why chose romance to a close. As with every entry in this series you can expect lots of emotions, twists, drama, intensity, heart and spice. These characters really take you on a journey of feelings and complications that push your heart to its limits even as you swoon.
Puck It by Charlotte Byrd is the conclusion of the story of Ryder, Ash, Soren, and Harlow. She’s the sports psychologist for the Raptors Hockey team. Things are still secret….but, now they’re much more delicate because of her secret.
This story is full of surprises, unexpected situations, and lots of heat! Sorta expected this ending…Good story!
What a great finale to this series! when they think they've got everything figured out, life throws them a curve ball that could either bring them apart or together? The story is full of surprises and chemistry between them. I hope we see them show up later in another series. Thank You Charlotte Byrd for the many hours of pleasurable reading.
This was a wonderful story that has the coach finding out about Harlow and the guys but how? When it’s told they are shocked. But the coach has conditions that has to happen or else! But soon Harlow finds out something that has is going to push those conditions! What will happen next? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Puck It is book #4 in the Raptors Hockey Why Choose Series and the conclusion. These four sure had a turbulent relationship from the beginning, but finally band together in this one. I loved Ash, Soren, Ryder and Harlow. Their chemistry was smoking hot. You get all the feels in this one. An enjoyable series.
I think of all the whychoose romance books I've read, this series has the most disjointed group of guys in that they don't automatically come together as a group (as in, the guys were always arguing amongst themselves). They're only commonality was hockey and Harlow.
SO...it was great to FINALLY see them get their heads out of their butts (even though it still took a while). Great series overall! Probably more realistic with the random personalities.
Puck It, Is an awesome finish to this series. Loved this group ❤️ who have formed the unconventional relationship. They have been tested by so many issues, distance from being traded, by someone else who mentioned their situation to someone who could make or break a career. Loved this story ❤️.
