The Diakans are completing their crusade against the Juttari and recapturing their once-dominant position in the galaxy. Still, without their Great See’er, they are no longer the friendly ally of the past. On the other side of the galaxy, the Dvorkan Empire has its own problems and was never really the most reliable of allies. Faced with increased Mistraan aggression, Admiral Jon Pike needs to go on the offensive before the forces of the Maeficus become too powerful. But with once solid alliances now showing cracks, can Jon Pike muster enough forces to deal with the overwhelming threat?

Pressure

Pressure on the author to complete this book &, of course, pressure on the characters of the narrative.
Let's start with the author. Chapter 2 recap contains inaccuracies & inconsistencies with repetitive dialogue in that there are full passages identical to previous books. While this is disappointing, it just seems to suggest that the author was having problems getting started with this volume.
Post Chapter 3, the book starts to flow again. Back to the intrigue, action & imagination.
Everyone comes under pressure in some way. Ultimately, there really is just the one source.
The rinse & repeat just takes on a larger form. The threat growing existentially.
The denouement best come with Book 15 as Pike may have outlived my interest if I have to wade through more than 2 more books of his exciting & action-packed, yet bumbling path.
Still. You can not deny the overriding appeal of this saga.

Great read

Good follow up to the series and continues the story about how much devastation there is still to come before this story ends
