Erin Winters arrives in Lockhart Falls with a broken heart, her trusty heels, and her Ta-Da list. She’s back in her grandparents’ old town to recover from walking in on her best friend and long-term boyfriend and to re-discover her old self.

When Erin (literally) falls for Jamie Burns, her new landlord and neighbour, she knows it can’t go anywhere… She’s only in town for a few months before she takes her heels back to the big city.

But with Jamie becoming the man she didn’t expect, and a whole town of new friends, Erin finds the idea of leaving Lockhart Falls much harder than she imagined.

With a family secret uncovered, a blizzard in a glass dome, romance under the Northern Lights, and an intimate wedding, Erin’s head and heart have to fight it out to decide if she’ll leave or make Lockhart Falls her new home.

This is the first book of the Lockhart Falls series - and I loved it!

After a terrible break up with her long-term boyfriend, Erin decides to go back to a place that holds fond memories growing up. With her trusty heels and her Ta-Da list (a more positive spin on a to-do list), she arrives back in the small town where her grandparents once lived.

In the front of the book there is a list of all the characters. Don't be overwhelmed - it may seem like too many people to keep track of - but once you are reading the story, the characters become so familiar. There is also a map of the town and all the shops. I found it so much fun to follow the FMC visually while reading; it was like I was exploring Lockhart Falls with her.

Erin decides to rent a place for the next 3 months and the cottage just happens to be her grandparents' old place! Now owned by Jamie, who lives next door, an unexpected relationship starts to bloom. Erin knows it can't go anywhere since she will be leaving, but meeting so many new friends and developing a soft spot in her heart for this small town, Erin finds herself at a crossroads.

Of course no history is complete without uncovering a family secret. Throw in a blizzard while stuck in a glass dome, the romantic Northern Lights, and an intimate wedding into the mix Erin's dilemma is that much more tricky (...or easy?).

This was my 2nd Luna Hayes read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Usually my gripe with small town romances is that the pacing is often way too rushed and unrealistic. This book however was on point, with a perfect mix of joy, heartache, friendship, mishaps, nostalgia, and family.

I can't wait to get stuck into book #2: Friends With Zenefits!

I actually rate this 3,5*

Initially the grammar and language used was a bit hard for me to get used to. It’s an American setting but the language and phrases are more English.
Once I sort of spun it into a more English setting in my head- I enjoyed it a lot more.

It was a nice read. The romance was sweet. I did feel that there were some gaps in the story and also some bits that I didn’t feel were really necessary.

Overall I really enjoyed this. It’s the first full read after the longest reading slump in my life. Thankful to have found this nugget to get me through. (Thanks for recommendation Andrea)

Perfect read for when you need something warm and cosy.

Love at First Light is the second book and first in a series by my friend Luna Hayes. I have spoken to Luna and gave her my live thoughts and reactions while reading, a perk of being friends with an author 🤭

Luna's book and the previous one, felt to me like a Hallmark movie, which we all know are hit and miss. Luckily for Luna, I have a love for cheesy, cliché-filled movies and books. My genres have changed over the years, too, and I have a great love, and my bookshelf has many of the genre on it, for RomCom's of late!

There were many things that needed clarification and whatever I didn't Google, Luna explained. I have an understanding where her mind is at and where she might be going. I loved that puns were added into the right situation(s) at the right time(s). I love the Festice events, both the Christmas and Valentine's Day ones.

Oh, I think I'll be adding First Footing to my future rituals, what an amazing gesture. Read the book, you'll be better for knowing why! The iceskating ring that Jaime built Erin 😭✨️. This book was clean and neat. It reminded me to embrace your inner child as an adult more...

I cried when I paged to the acknowledgments (I did it first when I received the book, because Luna being sneaky 😝) and I cried! Being specifically mentioned never gets old. And sharing this with other friends and being told they felt the same, Found Family (like in the book!)

I am so ready for Book 2, because GOAT BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I gave this book ☃️☃️☃️☃️.5 / 5 (I need book 2!!!!!)

"Home is where the hart is" 👌🏼

Reading this book felt like a nice big warm hug! I was giggling and got butterflies throughout reading.

Thanks Luna for an amazing start to the series. Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes and spoiler-free upcoming things with me. You curated an amazing box and I'm so proud to call you my friend ✨️🫂🫶🏼

Well, this has been the sweetest thing ever! Cue the sweet and fuzzies of a Hallmark Christmas movie, warm hugs of friendship, good food, and the love and support of a small town with an identity of love and neighbourly acts.
It's cozy, it's punny and silly, it's a hug in a book.
Erin runs away to the Lockhart Falls she remembers from her childhood to heal her broken heart and find direction in life after finding her best friend and longtime boyfriend were up to no good.
Heels are a girl's best friend and hers land her with a twisted ankle and into the concerned arms of writer Jamie Burns, the tall and tattoeed let's-pretend-I'm-grumpy town hunk.
The rest is history... to be more specific, a hidden love story from the past.
If you'd like to fall in love with a town, friendship, a tall ginger hunk and get hungry every time they eat out because 🤤... then you can and should read Love at First Light

The story was good, but I'm not into British stories (or in this case S African) set on American soil. Kudos to the author who prefaced the story that she does use British spelling, so I was aware of that going in. However, if the author is going to set the story in America, she needs to remember we use inches and feet instead of the metric system. Also, our highway system is interstate or I95 instead of A1. And there are just too many different words or different uses of words that don't translate well from British to American English, such as torch, or the common use of brilliant. If this was set in Europe or S. Africa there would be no problem, but it just didn't sit well with me and the story didn't flow due to this.
Overall, I liked the story but it needed a little more oomph. It didnt keep me totally engrossed in it.

Review of love at first light

I want to start by saying I love the name Lockhart Falls and the backstory of it. Erin comes back to the beautiful town of Lockhart Falls after catching her boyfriend and boss together. She meets Jamie after hurting her ankle and he helps her (wedding style) into the cottage that she rents from him. Along the way, she meets the other colourful townies and gets closer to Jamie.

I loved Jamie he was the perfect gentleman and I loved the town's winter events, especially the freezing cold plunge. I wouldn't do it if I was paid to. But it was fun. To read. I really enjoyed getting to know everyone and Erin's bright and positive personality was fun to read. Highly recommend this if you want an easy-read romance novel.

Small-town romance, eat your heart out! Love at First Light is a swoony labour of love that leaves you wanting more- and guess who can't wait to arc read Friends with Zenefits for this very reason!!

These characters are sweet, flawed in the most natural way, and they really grow together, in both their lives and in love. Erin is relatable as hell, and I only wish to be as brave as she is. Armed with a list and her heels, she makes the decisions needed to change her life for the better - and sticks to it, and more!

If you love the found family, grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity and only one bed tropes, this little gem is for you!

A heartwarming and cozy read.

Lockhart Falls, with its charming small-town vibe and long-time residents, quickly feels like home. The story follows Erin Winters, a newcomer whose journey in this close-knit community—especially her growing connection with Jamie and the locals—gently pulls you in.

Layered into the warmth is a long-buried family secret waiting to be uncovered.

Erin’s quirky spirit and infectious optimism shine throughout, making her a character you'll root for from beginning to end.

This is the 2nd book I have read by this author and it did not disappoint.
Love at First Light is the first book in this new series,
The characters are likeable and relatable, Jamie is the perfect man... who wouldn't want a Jamie in their life?
Erin and her to do list or rather 'Tah Dah ' list, anyone that keeps lists will be able to relate..
Highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read the next one .

2.75 ⭐️ This book was quaint, quirky and a quick read (Jamie would be proud of the alliteration) 😜 I wanted a lighthearted, fun rom-com and this book literally felt like that - the definition of a "Hallmark movie" book. Having said that, the dialogue was very basic, even awkward at times and I struggled to fully connect with the characters because of it. The story was cute but could have been "fleshed out" a bit more. I loved the happy ending ❤️

If you enjoy a sweet contemporary romance with all the small town tropes I highly recommend this story 👌🏽 It was a light, fun read set in a town filled with adorable characters, lots of food and fun events.
Hayes made me fall in love with the couple and added a second chance subplot to fulfill all my romance needs.

A gorgeous uplifting small town story.
Despite her heartbreak Erin is a really positive person and takes the opportunity to embrace a new life in a town that was linked to her past.
She allows herself some time away from her troubles and finds a new community to reconnect with and time to discover what she really wants from life.
Jamie is the most perfect person, appearing to Erin just when she needs help, his gentle kindness and compassion helps her to begin to enjoy life in this wonderful close community.
Some gorgeous romantic moments are scattered throughout this lovely story.
Lockhart Falls sounds like an idyllic place to visit, especially in the winter months.
A delightful book, I’m looking forward to the next book in this series already!
