Being in the spotlight is hard, but a fake relationship with my PA has been taking the pressure off for years. The only problem is, she’s ready to marry her girlfriend and start a family. I don’t want her to take the heat for “leaving me,” so I’m coming out of the closet too.
We’ve hired a body guard to keep any crazy fans away, and he’s agreed to pose as my boyfriend to make it easier. I’ve never even had a real boyfriend, and it’s not long before I’m wishing it was real.
I know Jackson has a past, but I’m kind of thinking he wants it to be real too. If we can stay one step ahead of whoever is threatening me, we might have a shot at making this arrangement real - and permanent.
The storyline itself was decent. The writing style was different and the language used was a bit odd for me personally. There was a lot of misunderstandings and miscommunications that became boring and the repetitive things they said and thought became tedious. The bible bashing homophobia was ridiculously done in my personal opinion. This is my first from this author and I probably would read another from them. I enjoyed the demi rep.
Loved this low angst, slow-burn, HEA. Jackson and Shiloah seemed doomed to never get along. Low and behold, their feelings come out while Jackson is working as Shiloah’s bodyguard as well as his boyfriend. The two of them have multiple battles to overcome and somehow find a way.
I feel the characters were well developed and all quite likeable.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read another!

- Country Singer/Bodyguard - Fake Boyfriend - Demi MC - Suspense - First Times
Shiloah has been in a fake relationship with his best friend Alma for years. Shiloah is demi and Alma is a lesbian with a girlfriend so the arrangement has worked with no issue, but now Alma is engaged and they need to publicly breakup. Alma decides that it would look better if Shiloah came out at the same time with a partner. Having a bodyguard to cover any new threats to the star coming out is necessary and finding one that will pose as his boyfriend makes everything easier. Alden Security says they have the perfect guy and that's where Jackson comes in.
There are several misunderstandings in this book but all of them are believable in their context. Shiloah has never had a relationship or even tried for one so he doesn't know how to act or be comfortable with the initial intimacy of it all. Jackson is a big teddy bear and you love him instantly, even when he puts his foot in it you just root for the big lug to make it all better with Shiloah. Even though their fake relationship turns real pretty quickly, I liked how patient Jackson was with Shiloah. He had a good understanding on how he should approach certain aspects of physical touch but always checked in first just in case.
The suspense throughout, and I mean all the way to the end, of who all is trying to kill Shiloah is crazy. I may have wanted to shake Shiloah a few times when he made dumb decisions that put him right in front of someone with a dang weapon! The boy made my blood pressure rise so I know that Jackson was 110% worse than me in those moments. Alma is the best friend anyone could ask for and she is not to be trifled with when it comes to protecting Shiloah. I loved the security team and how they worked together to catch the bad guys and their banter is the best.

Shiloah is a country singer who is going to “come out” since his PA and apparent fake girlfriend is leaving to be with her girlfriend. Deciding to get a bodyguard that will also be a fake boyfriend, Jackson is the lucky guy. Shiloah is not particularly happy with the arrangement, but grudgingly agrees. When it becomes necessary to “practice” for times they are out in public, Jackson figures out that Shiloah is demisexual and does his best to be patient and go very slowly, checking in with Shiloah to make sure he is ok with each step forward, and changing if not. As the two learn more about each other, a bond is beginning to form. Things are definitely not smooth sailing all the time, but both men find something they didn’t know they were looking for.
Both characters are guarded, Shiloah more so than Jackson since he is very inexperienced, but Jackson comes with his own baggage, too. The way the relationship between the two men develops is natural and beautiful, and the steamy scenes are worked into the narrative so seamlessly, it all just flows together. There are threats to the relationship, internal as well as external, which are dealt with as they arise. You can feel the increased love and caring between the two men as it grows over a period of time.
I felt this book took the time to address the patience and acceptance needed by and for a demi character more than others I have read.
Not a long book, but a satisfying one, great for a lazy afternoon read.

I've decided that the fake boyfriend trope isn't my favorite because most of the time the justification for why the person needs a fake boyfriend is really illogical. That aside, I didn't understand why Shiloah claimed he was demisexual and then was in bed with Jackson a few days after they met. Their relationship went from fake to real extremely quickly, and they expressed their love what felt like a week after they first slept together.
Thought provoking story about the very real problems that gay and bi-sexual country music stars face every day. Publicists and agents go to great lengths to keep them in the closet. The author does a fine job of highlighting the day-to-day lives of high-profile entertainers, the value of supportive and loving relationships, and what it’s like to be betrayed by family members for all the wrong reasons. As an added bonus, you can find superbly fun use of analogies throughout the book, such as, “looking at me in the way a lion tamer might regard his newest charge” and “I liked being photographed by the paparazzi much in the same way your average housecat liked swimming in the ocean.”
Jackson, Shiloah’s bodyguard, is smart, funny, considerate, and ridiculously sexy. Little wonder that Shiloah became enamored of him, switching from demi-sexual to full on gay boy in love. Who wouldn’t??? Careful wooing of the rather skittish Shiloah is skillfully done and heartwarming. Meanwhile, the writer tosses some sharks into that pond. Ginny, the hatemongering sister, has teamed up with a genuine waste of space named Rod. These two bottom feeders are exceptionally well-done cardboard cutouts of the toxic, sick, twisted, anti-gay freaks in the news today. The brother and sister confrontation is highly charged and physically violent, but not overdone. Realistic dialogue and well-developed characters keep the reader engaged all the way until the last page.
It was hard for me not to dnf this, but I made myself read through the whole book to be able to write an honest review. I struggled with this for a variety of reasons; first and foremost because the writing style felt rather awkward and unpolished to me. There was way too much telling and not enough showing. The repetitive choice of words made the story just too sappy for my taste. The words "sweet", "gentle" or "purr" were overused in every scene of intimacy between the two main characters.
I couldn't feel sympathy for Jackson or Shiloah. Shiloah gave off a very immature and insecure vibe, and I struggled to connect him to the image of the country star that he was supposed to portray. I didn't understand any of his actions. Conflict between him and Jackson felt forced and could have been solved quickly if Shiloah had just listened to Jackson instead of storming off and giving him the cold shoulder for no real reason. He claims to be demisexual, yet within a matter of days he feels attraction to and shares intimacy with Jackson.
Jackson's character felt very one-dimensional to me, despite him being a war veteran who lost his first love on the battlefield. I wish his trauma would have been explored more thoroughly to add depth to the story. It does not make sense to me that Jackson would so readily jump into another relationship, without feeling any guilt or insecurities in the process.
The only character in the book I could feel some sympathy for was Alma. I liked her sass and her boldness, especially in the scene at Felix Cove.
Finally, I had some issues with the plotting in general. I didn't understand the reasoning behind the fake boyfriend trope. Alma breaking up her and Shiloah's fake relationship to be able to come out and marry her girlfriend might have presented a good opportunity for Shiloah to come out himself, but why does he have to be in a fake relationship (again!) for that? I don't feel like not wanting to be obessed over by his female fans is a good enough reason. It didn't make sense to me that they hired a bodyguard to play the boyfriend. Also, why would anyone so readily accept such a task, considering the consequences of being in the spotlight as the "boyfriend" of a country star?
All in all, this was unfortunately a weak read for me, so I could not give it more than a two-star-rating.
Country singer Shiloah has had a fake relationship with his female PA for years and it has taken the pressure off him but she wants to marry her girlfriend and start a family together so he needs to finally come out of the closet. He has hired a bodyguard to keep crazy fans away and he has also agreed to pretend to be his boyfriend. Shiloah never had a real boyfriend, and it’s not long before he wishes it was real. Jackson has a past but he appears to want it to be real too. If they can stay ahead of the person who is threatening Shiloah they have a chance to make it real and permanent.
I really enjoyed this story with the two men who managed to build a relationship together while solving the mystery of the person who was threatening Shiloah. I loved that Jackson tried to take Shiloah through the stages of a proper relationship starting with flirting and kissing before moving on to more physical things. The threat was dramatic at times and caused by Shiloah coming out. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
Shiloah has been able to keep attention off his love life by faking a relationship with his female PA. But once she proposes to her girlfriend and is engaged that is not a viable option for him any longer. So Alma, his PA and protective friend helps him to come out but with a partner. Jackson, Shiloah's bodyguard will pose as his partner to once again keep some control over the situation as he comes out. Shiloah is demi and has never been in a real relationship so he has some distance to travel even in what is supposed to be a fake situation. But fake does not last long with this pair whose bigger issue is who is trying to hurt Shiloah - hence the need of the bodyguard in the first place. This story was suspenseful and sweet as Shiloah and Jackson come to find something special together.

Oh My Goodness this was such a wonderful MM Romance that I couldn't put down. I loved this book and am so happy I had the chance to read it.
The characters drew me in right from the beginning and the chemistry between them never fizzled out.
I love how Shiloah and Jackson treat each other and get to know each other. This was the first book that I have read with a demisexual MC and it was beautiful how the relationship was explored. It is a slow burn easy to read romance with spicy heat.
It pulled my heartstrings and left me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside!
This is a New to me author and I look forward to reading more from her!

I loved Singer's Security Book 2. Shiloah’s PA had the idea for him to come out and be dating his bodyguard. He wasn’t sure it was the best idea but meeting Jackson felt important. There will definitely be some bumps in the road. Jackson has his demons from the past and Shiloah has his fears but together they can take on the world. Danger is coming for Shiloah and Jackson will do anything he can to keep him safe. They are learning together to trust each other. Unfortunately, that trust will be tested. Can they have a future together? I loved this storyline and the characters. Jackson is a protector and Shiloah is a beautiful soul. I would definitely recommend this book.

Country singer, Shiloah and his fake “fiancée” have broken up because she’s now ACTUALLY engaged and he’s in the market for a bodyguard. One that wouldn’t mind also pretending to be his boyfriend… I really enjoyed this book. I read it, cover to cover in one sitting, not willing to put it down until I made sure the villains got what was coming to them. And these villains were particularly vile, one of them was so close as to be family; too bad you can’t pick your family, Shiloah’s was a doozy! Good thing he had that handsome Jackson to protect him. You ought to pick this one up today, you won’t be disappointed. 5 stars.

Shiloah has been in a fake relationship with Alma for a long time to make his life in the spotlight a little easier to manage. But Alma is ready to get married and start a family with her significant other, so they need to pretend a break-up. Rather than let Alma take the blame for their “broken relationship”, he decides to do some pretending on his own that he has found someone else as well. So he has a bodyguard to not only protect him but to also pretend to be his surprise boyfriend. How will things work out with Jackson taking on that role? Will the two of them find out they really do enjoy each other’s company? Will Jackson be able to keep him safe?
Shiloah has been in a fake relationship for publicity and public commentaries sake with his friend Alma for years. However, Alma has also started a relationship of her own and when they become engaged, they can't be public about it without her first breaking up her "relationship" with Shiloah. Once that happens, they expect their will be some public outcry, so a bodyguard is hired to keep Shiloah safe. That's how Jackson enters the picture. From the beginning, sparks fly between Shiloah and Jackson. There is romance, suspense and and a lot of miscommunication in this book. Sometimes you are torn between whether things are going to work out physical and through words. The characters react appropriately, though, given the situation. All in all, a great read with a great storyline.
I honestly wanted to give this 2 stars, but rounded up to 3 only for Jackson and the sex scenes.
I liked Jackson a lot. Not a huge fan of Shiloah though. He never really seemed to take accountability for his misunderstandings and miscommunications. It seemed like Jackson was always the one to blame. Also, S said he loved and trusted J, but proved multiple times that he didn’t trust him or give him the benefit of the doubt and then they had sex and all was good again.
Another thing that irked me was J was his bodyguard and S ran away 2 different times and nothing was really said about that.
I did like the Demi rep though. Not enough books these days go for that. So good job with that.

This book was so incredible. The main character was Demisexual, and as a Demisexual myself, I found the way he was portrayed perfect. It is rare to find an author that truly understands demisexuality, and Shiloah was spot on. Jackson was SO sweet, SO loving, and SO sexy. I adored the characters deeply and could not stop reading it , in fact I read it twice and I reread several scenes more than that. The way their relationship develops, and the level of trust they establish was just beautiful. I honestly can say that this book is now one of my favorites and I look forward to reading more from this author.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series and this low angst, slow-burn storyline was a great addition. Jackson and Shiloah were great characters who seemed doomed to never get along but when Jackson is employed as Shiloah’s bodyguard their feelings progress to more and have so much to overcome before they get their hea. Great interaction with all the secondary characters as well and thought the author managed to convey the full meaning of what it is to be demisexual with such sensitivity in such a short storyline.

I've read one other of this author's books, and I'm a bit on the fence. I enjoyed Waking Wyatt, and for the most part, this story is very good. Although I liked his beard/best friend/ PA, Alma, best of all. Danvers was all over the place. We have the falling for the bodyguard trope. Expected. Homophobic stalker. expected. PTSD. OK. The kink. Wait... hold the phone...where did that come from? I wished I liked Shiloah and Jackson better. They're either eating, miscommunicating or having sexy times. Which are quite hot. The angst and the tears stood between this book and 5 stars.

I really enjoyed the story of Jackson and Shiloah. They complemented each other well. And Alma, Shiloah's best friend, is a fantastically hilarious spitfire! One of my favorite things about this story was the level of attention paid to the “consent” aspect of consenting adults. I also appreciated the portrayal of a demisexual character. One negative was that I felt Shiloah acted immaturely fairly frequently. Other than that, though, I would definitely recommend the book.

An enjoyable MM read between a singer and his hot bodyguard who doubled as his fake (then not so fake) boyfriend, some angst, miss-communication, twists, humour and steam. Jackson and Shiloah both had their own personal battles which they needed to work through - there were times that did have me wondering whether Jackson and Shiloah were really going to be able to make it work (and whether they really should?!).
I loved the side characters / their friends who added to the story, Alma rocked!.

Joy's writing is truly beautiful. Man, Shiloah has a temper. And it seems like most of their arguments get made off like they are Jackson's fault when I don't think they are. I would have to be really into someone to put up with that. Talk about relationship drama...no thanks. I felt myself getting defensive of Jackson more times than not. I love books that pull me in like that. Overall, it was a 4.5 read for me with maybe a 3 in spice.

ALDEN SECURITY BOOK 2 is everything I hoped for. Jackson is a bodyguard hired to protect a Country Music Star. Shiloah is a Country Singer who is tired of hiding in a fake relationship. This Book showcases some honest truths that plague public people. A dream is that Love Is Love will become a way of life for all. JOY DANVERS is such a creative writer and story teller. I Loved This Romance So Much. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS WONDERFUL ALDEN SECURITY SERIES!!!!!!!
Quite a bit of action in this story. A sweet romance first but sprinkled amongst the love story you find crazies with their own agenda. The book engages you from the start. It keeps you reading with the storyline being diverse, romance, drama and excitement. A good HeA comes through at the end of the day, though, so reading was a treat.

This was another good addition to the Alsen security series, Shiloah and Jackson were sweet together, Jackson was patient with him when Shiloh told him he was Demi and slowly they built a relationship only thing that was annoying was that every time Jackson did something that Shiloah didn’t like he ran away instead of taking the time to talk and discuss things. Good read looking forward to the next book in the series.
I absolutely love Shiloah and Jackson. I really am glad that I was able to read this book, because I learned something new. I really wasn’t sure what it meant to be demisexual, but after this book I now and understand it. The fact that these two men wanted each other was great even after some misunderstandings they are working on being together.

After keeping his true sexuality secret from his public by means of a fake relationship with his PA, Shiloh’s decides to hire a bodyguard who will pretend to be his boyfriend in public. He and Jackson find that their relationship is developing in reality too - life is not a fairy tale however, will they have a happy ending?.

I would recommend this MM book about a security guard that ends up falling for his client. Even though this is book #2 it can be read as a stand alone book as well. There are characters you will love and one specifically you will hate. She is a antigay, religious, nut job that wants to do harm in the name of religion.
This is a coming out book filled with love and romance, and a bit of hot MM spice. I will be continuing the series!
Shiloah is demi-sexual, and a big deal is made over that. Other than the initial meeting between Shiloah and Jackson, I didn't feel it. He kind of jumped right into kissing and playing around . All of this happened within a day or so of meeting.
If you're wanting a slow burn MM romance then I highly recommend reading Shiloah & Jackson's story. Shiloah is a singer & Jackson has been hired to be his bodyguard & fake boyfriend. Their story makes for a great afternoon read with a bit of suspense thrown in.

MM, Fake Relationship, Demisexual, First time, Bodyguard, Romance. Second book in the series, can be read as a complete stand-alone, easy to read, steamy romance with great characters and some drama. An extremely fast paced plot with great characters and a guaranteed HEA.
