╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'𝐖H𝐄N L𝐈E𝐒 𝐔N𝐅O𝐋D' Is a full length mafia, enemies to lovers romance book by author R.C. Boldt. Spoken in 'dual perspectives.'

This is one book which I've been anticipating, this author always takes me on a unique ride, and this definitely delivered that..

Whilst on her last house cleaning job of the day Lola sees something she shouldn't have, which becomes a huge problem she could well do without. But what she saw she didn't even blink an eye, cleaning up the blood too, not a problem, so clean that you'd not even know someone had been murdered in that spot.

Now Santiago has her in his sights, to make sure she keeps her mouth shut and for him to keep an eye on her he's placed her in hs domain.

To the naked eye Lola is just that a cleaning lady..But Santiago knows there's more to Lola than she's letting on..And there very well maybe..Because once you delve deeper into her character she's a walking question mark. And I loved getting to know this character, her sass, her soft heart, her fierceness, I loved watching all those around her fall under her spell.

Santiago is a notorious narco, his ruthless reputation is known throughout, but what Santiago doesn't know is that he's not the first dangerous man Lola has been lucky/unlucky enough to make her acquaintance. She's been around dangerous men before and she has the battle scars to prove it.

I loved watching their budding romance unfold, to her pushing and pulling his buttons, the poor guy didn't know what way was up or down, she threw him completely off his axles. 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

When Lies Unfold by R.C. Boldt

5/5 stars

When Lies Unfold completely blew me away. I love this book so, so much. It was an epic love story from start to finish. I love how the main characters love each other, I love the angst, their past, their bond - I love that they never give up on each other. It was such a beautiful, heartfelt and powerful story. 5 huuuuuge stars from me for this gorgeous book.

The book starts with Lola Arias cleaning a house. She works for a cleaning company and she is cleaning a huge house. Her co-worker Sabrina is sick, so she does it on her own and it takes her several hours extra. But when she is nearly finished she hears voices and she gets a little scared. She goes to investigate and witness a murder. She tries to flee but a gun is put against her temple and she is stuck. She pleads and promises that she will keep her mouth shut. And even offers to clean the crime scene.

Santiago Hernandez is the narc who has the gun to her head. For some reason he is drawn to this brave creature. And he lets her clean the scene. When she is done he warns her that she is being watched. And that if she snitches, she'll get eliminated.

Gordo, Santiago's second in command, sees how his boss is changing around Lola. How he is drawn to her. I love how he teases Santiago and pushes his buttons.

When Santiago finds out that Lola's fingerprints aren't in any database he invites her to his office. To pressure her into telling him who she is. But she evades the questions. And while she is there she bumps into Alma. A little girl who talks animatedly with her. When Santiago sees his daughter talking out loud for the first time in two years he forces Lola to stay at his place. And tells her she'll be around his place in order to be there for Lola. And that is what kickstarts the story.

I just absolutely loved Alma. How feisty, beautiful and loving she is. And how much she is like her daddy. The bond she has with Lola was heartwarming to read. I also like how Santiago becomes another man around her.

And Lola's and Santiago's journey has my entire heart. I love their teasing, banter and threats toward each other. Their dance was so addictive and gripping to read.

And the secondary characters are top notch as well. There wasn't anyone that felt needlessly added. They all had place and purpose for the story. And that is not something that happens often in bigger books.

If you want to read an fantastic enemies to lovers and mafia boss story then pick this beauty up! It's a 5 star book and I am sure they will capture your heart like they did mine!

It hurts to rate this so low. This author wrote one of my favorite books. But this was SO disappointing.

Now when it started with a scene of him fucking OW i should’ve quit. But I pushed oN bc I really loved her other book.

I should not have.

This was so bad

It coulda been about 300 pages shorter. I skimmed most of it. He is sooo mean to her for so long. I can’t even remember how many times he put a gun to her head. He’s just a gross man. There is nothing redeeming about him. I don’t care that his mafia helps rescue trafficked women when he’s so abusive to the heroine

From the moment Lola Arias met Santiago Hernández, fate seems to have always played a hand in their union. With When Lies Unfold, R.C. Boldt returns with a powerful and beautiful story of two souls who found love, family, peace, and freedom in each other. Lola and Santiago's relationship was unexpected because of how they met each other, but I also loved how it developed over time into something that was real and authentic. Despite my initial reservations about their relationship, Lola and Santiago had incredible chemistry with each other and their explosive banters made for some extraordinary and steamy moments. As the story progresses, it soon becomes clear that Lola has been keeping some major secrets from everyone—secrets that threatened to unravel everything she had built for herself as well as any chances of being with the man she was coming to love.

“If this is the end for me—for Lola Arias—it won’t be filled with regrets. It’ll be filled with memories of the two Hernándezes I love the most.”

In the end, Lola and Santiago's destined relationship will stay with me for a long time. At one point, I was on the edge of my seat because I desperately wanted them to have a happy ending with each other. The side characters were also great including Alma—Santiago's adorable daughter, Gordo, Luis, Diego, and Miguel—all of whom became found family for Lola. The antagonists were truly evil and I relished the fact that Lola was able to get her revenge and close that chapter in her life. The epilogue brought tears to my eyes because Lola got her happy ending with those she loved, especially after all the pain and suffering that she went through. We're also given a glimpse into the future through Alma's eyes, which left me feeling proud but also sad at the same time. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a heartbreaking and powerful love story between an infamous cartel leader and his strong and resilient heroine.

Now, that's what I'm talking about when I say the plot-to-smut ratio must be well-balanced. Nothing gives you the same thrill as a plot-driven mafia romance, with strong, vulnerable, and absolutely irresistible characters!

"When Lies Unfold" by R.C. Boldt is a romantic suspense story following Lola Arias, who becomes a key witness to a murder. Attempting to flee, she finds herself with a gun to her temple. Lola is pleading and promising to remain silent, but she knows better than to expect mercy from the Narc with the man-bun. Thrust into the dangerous realm of Santiago Hernández, one of the most powerful cartel leaders, Lola navigates a perilous path filled with deceit, revenge, and unexpected romance.

Themes of enemies-to-lovers and redemption are central to the plot as Lola and Santiago's worlds collide, leading to intense and thrilling encounters. The book offers a gripping mix of passion and mystery, making it a compelling read for fans of romantic suspense, mafia romance, dark romance and actually even crime thrillers.

This book completely blew me away. I devoured this book in one heart-pounding sitting, eager to see how it ends while dreading its conclusion. R.C. Boldt delivers an epic love story from start to finish. You have spectacular banter, a great push-and-pull, a slow-burn-ish foundation with sizzling sexual tension. The main characters' love for each other, their angst, their past trauma, their bond—everything about them never giving up on each other—is beautiful, heartfelt, raw and powerful.

Moreover, Boldt excelled at setting the scene. Her vivid descriptions of the Costa Rican jungle makes you feel like you're there. I loved that the nature theme was used over and over again, in the smallest yet most beautiful details. And I appreciate the fact that Bold used Spanish terms and even little dialogues. It felt nothing short of authentic.

And if, hopefully, I could convince you by now that the plot was actually superb, let me please add some insights to the remarkable characters that carry the plot!

FMC Lola is a force of nature. Her strength and resilience are palpable throughout the novel. Lola navigates her new reality with remarkable courage and determination. Her initial fear gives way to a burgeoning sense of agency, as she refuses to be merely a pawn in Santiago's dangerous game. But her character is also layered with secrets that add a great depth to her character. The gradual unveiling of her past keeps you hooked, eager to piece together the puzzle of her life. Her journey from a cautious outsider to someone who begins to trust and understand Santiago is both thrilling and emotional. This transformation is pivotal, as it underscores her inner strength and capacity for growth even in the face of immense danger and the sense of hopelessness.

Meanwhile, Santiago, ruthless, cold, always suspicious of everyone, slowly but surely develops a soft spot for the woman who makes her way into his daughter's heart, but also seems to bewitch his men and even the most dangerous animals. Morally gray never looked better on someone. And believe me when I say this man falls hard for Lola!

The arc between Lola and Santiago is captivating. Their mutual attraction and chemistry are undeniable. Their enemies-to-lovers arc is compelling, marked by mutual respect and a gradual dismantling of emotional barriers. As they both reveal their vulnerabilities, their bond deepens, making their eventual partnership both believable and meaningful.

Alma is a standout character—feisty, brave, and loving, much like her father. Her bond with Lola is heartwarming, and Santiago's transformation around her is touching. Lola’s interactions with Santiago's daughter, Alma, also reveal a softer side to both her but also his character. Her ability to connect with Alma and her influence on Santiago demonstrate her nurturing nature and the positive impact she has on those around her. And Santy...ah Santy the things you did for this girl…

Now, there are two things I have to be all whiney about because it was not enough. I wanted more!
One is the found family aspect of this book. I loved the secondary characters a lot and wish we had more of the little interactions between Lola and Gordo, Luis, Diego, Miguel, and even Javier. It could have added much needed comedic-relief. I also needed one more scene of Lola, Santy and Alma together!

The other thing is the resolution of the plot twist. I loved the plot twists, the plot was plotting, the twist was twisting!!! But that scene after 13 months needed to be a big bang moment of emotional turmoil, relief, and things left unsaid! I really think there was much more potential here.

The epilogue brought tears to my eyes, especially after all the pain and suffering. The glimpse into the future through Alma's eyes was a great idea.

I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking a heartbreaking yet powerful love story between an infamous cartel leader and his strong, resilient heroine. 4.5 stars!

4.5 'In another life' Stars!

My last read was burning with the intense and unexpected chemistry between a cartel leader and the woman he “kidnaps” after she sees a murder she wasn’t supposed to witness. This is actually my first time reading R.C. Boldt and I am pleasantly surprised. I saw many of my GR friends raving about this book and I finally decided to check it out.

If you are a fan of romantic suspense and mafia romance, you are in for a treat with When Lies Unfold. I loved how Santy and Lola start peeling their layers, start truly getting to know each other and they fall hard. I loved their passionate chemistry, the adorable surprises along the way, the found family troupe and how this couple fights to get over the obstacles on their journey. It’s not an easy one but it’s definitely worth the wait. So, if you haven’t read this one yet and you like this romance sub-genre, you can go and grab a copy right now!

A quick little review today! This was a long read but overall enjoyable! When Lola witnesses something she shouldn't have seen her life is forever altered. This was a spicy read, but with a plot that had a lot of twists, and secrets galore. Lola and Santiago had chemistry and kind of reminded me of Beth and Rio from the show Good Girls. Enjoyed this book overall, but the length made it a bit hard for me to rate higher.

This story completely blew me away and is definitely going in my best of 2024 pile! So well written, with tons of action and a bit of suspense. I loved the chemistry between the two MCs and how their story had an almost fated aspect to it. Love when the heroes don’t see the heroine coming and are so confused when they start catching feelings, lol. A definite recommend from me!

A MUST READ of a Contemporary Romance Suspense. I was gutted when this book ended, and I already know which narrators will do an amazing job bringing the story to life!

" “You tryin’ to imply I’m not a gentleman, Miss Arias?” To lie or not to lie. The thought strikes a split second before I stifle it. Because I’m Lola Arias, and I don’t cower to any man. "

Lola & Santiago love story is a fate. That invisible thread that has been pulling them back togther again...no spoilers. Well a little one they first meet a mask celebration and she gave him something to remember her by and wish for "another life"...that it no more spoiler. LOVE the banter they have and banter with the other men in his organization. The nicknames they have for eachother will make you smile 😂

"It doesn’t, however, mean I’m goin’ soft. Lola Arias is unique and intriguin’, and my gut instinct—which never leads me wrong—tells me she could be useful to me. For now, at least."

NOW ! There are some surprises in this so BE READY...no spoilers. The attention to detail is beyound amazing and thr story is very linked with the book title. It's true secrets NEVER stay down. They always come to the surface

"But fate taught me a powerful lesson: to never underestimate it or the surprises—and gifts—it has in store. I could’ve never imagined that after all the suffering, heartache, and pain, I would experience an abundance of pure joy."

I hope Alma will get her own story because she is just as strong as her parents and the ending to me has left a door open for that...no spoilers Alma became a believe of fate she seen it happened HOWEVER she did not like Fate put her mam through hell first then a happy ending with her and Santy

And her last words in this story are just beautiful and it sums up their love story perfectly:

"In my eyes, he was always a hero for rescuin’ me, but he never realized he needed to be rescued, too. Mom rescued him from himself. From his own stubborn belief that he didn’t have a heart or the capability to love. That he didn’t have enough redeemin’ qualities to be loved"

No matter what life or fate throws at you. Something amazing will come to you eventually when the time is right...no spoilers

RC Boldt has written some amazing dark romance/mafia books, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to read this book early!! This has to be one of my favorite books of the year!

After witnessing a violent crime while cleaning a client’s house, Lola, meets the very powerful and enigmatic, Santiago, a ruthless cartel boss who must decide Lola’s fate. Lola sees how one moment in time can impact the outcome of everything she holds dear and how quickly secrets become unraveled.

This was such an amazing action packed, mysterious, dark romance that kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the banter between Lola and Santiago but also how much strength and honesty Lola has in her especially to go up against him and get under his skin. It was the first book that I have ever read in a long time that reminded me of Tristan and Morana from the Predator (iykyk). Lola had so many secrets she was hiding and I was waiting so patiently to figure them all out and once I did, OMG!! I wish I had a little bit more scenes from her past tho! It was exciting to see how she began to trust Santiago little by little as the story developed! Santiago was ruthless and villainous but also had a soft spot for Lola and those close to him. Both don’t want to fall in love but overtime they are able to break each other’s walls down and find almost a kinship on what they have both been through and develop a strong foundation for a relationship. It takes some time and trust but once they are committed to it, there is no turning back. I thought this was an exceptional book and I didn’t want it to end!

This author also does an amazing job with the setting of the book. She describes the Costa Rican jungle so thoroughly, it’s like stepping into a movie set while reading. You can feel the authors seemingly love for nature as well with the inclusion of wildlife and description of Lola’s tattoos!!
Also with that ending… are we getting a book about Alma?!! That would be so cool

I think I’m going to go back and reread some of my favorite books by this author!

** One of my Top 20 of 2024 Picks on www.JeevesReads.com! **

Ummm… phenomenal? Dark, spicy, addictive and delicious. I’ve been wrapped up in this book for days, and now I don’t quite know what to do with myself, lol. Pretty sure I’m going to be in a book hangover for a while, because this was so incredibly good. I’ll admit to being intimidated by the page count at first, but I savored each one of those 600 pages. It’s the kind of page-turner that made me frustrated whenever I had to take a break, because I was so immersed in this world. It’s supremely SPICY and intimate, with a nuanced love story that had me hooked even more with every layer that was peeled back. I loved the fact that this heroine is stronger and more resilient than any I’ve read, which made her the perfect match for the intense and intimidating antihero. He has no idea what to do about this woman, and I ADORED watching him fall under her spell. The story got richer and deeper with every interaction, with such a fresh, intimate feel. There’s a ton of heat, yes, but each touch is so revealing - you could feel their connection building in such a visceral way. The relationship development is pretty fantastic, and I was left wanting even more. It’s a powerhouse of a read that will stay with me for quite awhile - there’s no doubt that I loved it.

Set in Costa Rica, the story follows Lola, a woman who has been trying to live a quiet life under the radar. When she witnesses a murder, that becomes impossible. Suddenly, Lola has the attention of a brutal narco, a man who knows he should tie up loose ends by ending her life. And while that’s never been a problem for Santiago in the past, there’s something about this woman that has him hesitating. She’s gorgeous, but it’s her fire that draws Santiago closer. Lola shows a strength that he rarely sees, and Santiago just wants to learn more. Though Lola despises everything about Santiago’s life, she soon discovers that there’s another side to him too. She never would’ve anticipated his tenderness, and that just might be her undoing.

I went into this with low expectations, and they were immediately exceeded. I strongly recommend that you go in as blind as possible. Though the blurb intrigued me, I was looking for almost any excuse not to spend 600 pages with these characters… and I didn’t find one. No, I didn’t love the way we’re introduced to Santiago (OW interaction), but it provides such a visceral contrast to the way he is with Lola. I loved the way Boldt left these little breadcrumbs that didn’t seem important until they were entirely relevant later on. It’s such a layered, nuanced, SEXY story, and it had my eyes glued to every page. There’s a crackle of connection from the start, and the plentiful spicy scenes just made that burn hotter. For me, the best part was the way I was surprised at every turn; not just with the plot and suspense (which were great), but with the evolution of this relationship. The love story is at the forefront the whole way through, with the darkness and suspense woven in seamlessly. Rarely do I read a 600-page book and feel like I still want more, but that’s exactly what happened here - it made an impression.

🇺🇸I’ve been obsessed with R.C. Boldt’s work since I read An Armored Heart and spent an entire year promising myself that I’d read more of her books. It’s now a promise kept thanks to Valentine PR and the author with this ARC (but yeah, I still need to read more of her books!).

And just like I did with An Armored Heart, I fell for this book. HARD.

Let me tell you that I’m not a huge mafia romance girl but boy, did this book change my mind.

What you’ll find: perfect writing. Amazing character development. Hot as sin tension. A true enemies-to-lovers story. Danger all around. The vibes in this book are immaculate. We are in Costa Rica. We’re lost in the jungle. We’re afraid of the monsters lurking in the shadows.

I felt so deeply for the characters! Lola is a hell of a woman. Strong. Brave. Smart. So resilient and resourceful. I absolutely loved her.

Somehow, even though they’re drastically different, she and Santiago fit so perfectly. They’re opposites and complementary in every way. They’re the missing pieces of each other and the very meaning of the word fate (that last flashback broke me!).

I won’t even talk about the spice because I melted at every turn with these two. Some of the things that man says, PHEW.

I also loved little Alma so, so much. She’s a breath of fresh air and won me over immediately, just like the other side characters did. The way they all form this family and make sense together made me swoon.

I absolutely loved this book! A masterpiece of the genre.

“If you erase all the mistakes of your past, you would also erase all the wisdom of your present. Remember the lesson, not the disappointment.”

This is my first time read this author and it definitely won’t be my last. I was hooked from the first page until the end.

Lola lives a quiet life as a maid, what she never expected was to witness a murder. Now her quiet life is gone and she thrown into the world of Santiago, a ruthless cartel leader. He never leaves loose strings but there something about Lola that’s stopping him from pulling the trigger. So in exchange to her life, she is now going to be under his watchful eye. And the longer she stays in his world the deeper she fall not only for him but for his daughter. But the only problem is there still so many secrets & lies that are hidden and not just his but hers as well. But when the lies unfold, will they survive it or will it destroy them?
Their chemistry and banter from the beginning was great and it only gets better the longer they’re together. They were exactly what the other needed and once they gave into the tension building between them, they were explosive. I enjoyed the way their relationship develops from the beginning to end, especially as they realize their feelings. This book was a fast read that had a bit of everything from drama to secrets to romance to revenge along with some twist & turns you don’t see coming. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and all the characters.

Wow! I could not put this down!

This is a dark romance with a morally grey MC but Santiago was a fitting compliment to Lola, the FMC. Both had gone through brutally difficult lives Yet despite the horror and terror, they still maintained a softness to let love in, both for each other and others in their immediate circle. While I knew this had to have a HEA, (this is a romance after all), it still bought me to tears on the possible fate of the characters. There were some laugh out loud moments especially the interactions with some of Santiago’s closest henchmen or even Lola’s sass with Santiago as she has vowed not to bow down to any man. There were some steamy times. And there were some heart warming times especially when Santiago realizes that he does have the capacity and is worthy to love. The epilogue - *chef’s kiss*

ALL. THE. STARS!!!!!!!

Where Lies Unfold is my first book by RC, but definitely not my last. If you can bring me to my knees, and make me ugly cry in a Mafia Romance, you get my utmost devotion to your writing. This book was EVERYTHING I love about mafia romance.

"Yes, you will rise from the ashes, but the burning comes first. For this part, darling, you must be brave." - Kalen Dion

RC delivers a FMC that is unrivaled in so many ways; Lola has no qualms with standing her ground and her instincts never lead her astray. Santiago might be the formidable, but Lola has faced worse in her life and still came out alive.

"If you erase all the mistakes of your past, you would also erase all the wisdom of your present. Remember the lesson, not the disappointment." - Unknown

This story was written flawlessly. The pacing and the flow of how everything unfolded was perfect. I love that each scene unraveled into the next scene seamlessly and as twists and turns were revealed, all the pieces just merged beautifully.

RC does a magnificent job of blending the suspense, the action, the romance and spicy scenes while still telling the story and never pulling away from any of it. Not once did I feel a lull in the story or that RC was purposely adding fillers to add pages to the book. Everything in this story is pertinent in one way or another.

The one thing that surprised more than anything with this story was how I felt these characters emotions rolling off the pages. I could feel their anguish, their hatred, their hurt, their devotion - that is not something I can usually pull from a mafia story. I'm usually hyped up from all the action and suspense and even keyed up from spicy scenes, but physically crying (chapter 41 had me walking away from kindle), completely unexpected and it made me appreciate this author's writing so much more.

"Everyone has to deal with traumatic experiences. But if you let it define you, you've lost the battle entirely. Instead, use it as fuel to rise higher and to better yourself the way YOU want." - Lola Hernandez (When Lies Unfold)

A thrilling and exciting dark romance!

At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of Santiago. He was a ruthless cartel leader and always got his way. I didn’t like his initial treatment of Lola, but as time went on, he developed a soft spot for Lola and completely redeemed himself.

Speaking of Lola, I loved how strong and independent she was. She wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself, even in the most dire of situations. She was desperate to not be held prisoner and had no desire to be a part of Santiago’s world, but couldn’t fight the pull between them.

Together, Santiago and Lola made a dangerous pair. Both were stubborn, intense and not afraid to go after what they wanted. Their chemistry was beyond scorching and I couldn’t wait to see how their story would play out.

The road to happily ever after wasn’t an easy one for Santiago and Lola. Lola has secrets that she’d rather keep hidden and a past that is desperate to catch up with her. I loved trying to figure out what Lola was hiding and even though I was on the right track, I wasn’t expecting the truth that was revealed.

When Lies Unfold kept me on my toes the entire time and left me utterly speechless and I loved every single second of it. If you’re a fan of possessive antiheroes and forced proximity romances you’re gonna need to pick up this book asap.

Lola, with the number of secrets she has, it's important for her to stay hidden, which is why she is content in her life as a cleaning lady. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. I ❤️ mafia romance books with enemies to lovers trope. The writing style , plot lines and story development were page turners for me. The book is set in Costa Rica which added to the story plot due to the environment and location .Lola and Santiago’s relationship development, the push n pull between them, their banter & chemistry was lit. The mystery of trying to figure out who Lola really was kept me hooked. They each had their fair share of a tortured pasts 🥹 and we see how they heal thru this individually and together over time. The way everything unravels and clicks into place & their feelings for each other 😍.

The spice was spicing , I thought my kindle would melt. 🫠😮‍💨. There was plenty as it got hotter n hotter.

I liked the supporting characters they added into the story with that slight touch of humor that was needed to ease things a bit . But seriously Gordo always had the worst timing 😂 like dude take a hint come back much later or never . One of my favorite parts was Luis asking Santiago about Lola , I couldn’t stop laughing at his boldness and deluded confidence.

Alma was perfect 🥹 really liked her character as it added so much to the story as we got to see different sides to Lola and Santiago’s personalities , she needs her own book after that ending 😊

I’m a sucker for a good mafia romance and I truly enjoyed this one! I loved the two main characters, Lola and Santiago, and the chemistry was insane between the two of them! Those spicy scenes were great!

My favorite character though was sweet little Alma! She made the book and I don’t care what anyone says! Her story broke my heart but to see her open up to Lola and then slowly to Santiago made my heart so happy!

I think my only complaint would be that it was a little long. I feel like there was a lot of back and forth between the two main characters that didn’t necessarily need to be there to complete the story but overall the story itself was great! It wrapped up very nicely!

Thank you to RC Boldt and Valentine PR for sending me a copy of this book! I really appreciate it!

This book is chef's kiss, once I started I could not put it down. I loved the way the storyline unfolded, from their first meeting to the mystery and darkness and then all the secrets that are revealed, it is just perfection.

Lola is in the wrong place at the wrong time when she lands on Santiago Hernandez's radar. I enjoyed seeing the different sides of Santiago, the devoted father, the ruthless narco and the obsessive man who slowly falls in love. On the surface Lola is a cleaner living a reclusive life, however she is a conundrum with hidden depths. I liked that her secrets are revealed to the reader at the same time as Santiago, it was one of the reasons I couldn't stop reading as I was desperate to find out more. I adored them as a couple, the banter between them had me giggling and willing Lola on when she stood up for herself. The relationship that developed was one of mutual respect with a burning passion that set the pages alight. I loved the ending, it gave me the answers I wanted and also left me wanting more from both them and Alma.

🌶️🌶️🌶️

On the run from a life she left behind, Lola finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. She now thrust back into a prison like world, taking orders from yet another narc. But maybe she actually likes this one?

This story was so captivating, I never wanted to put it down! So much more than just romance - mystery, who hurt you, cartel/Mafia issue - a wonderfully layered plot! Fate said it was always going to be Santy && Lola forever ❤️

When Lies Unfold is an exceptionally written story that will leave you hooked till the very last page. You can feel the heat and surroundings of Costa Rica where this book takes place.
It is a very long book but I think it was worth it.
Lola has to move in with cartel boss Santiago who wants to keep an eye on her in case she slips and tells anyone. But Lola is loyal and once she becomes cozy with his daughter even his heart is not safe...
But Lola has some secrets and Santago isn't sure if he can trust her.

I don't know if I've ever cried during reading but at half of this book I had tears in my eyes I was so emotionally invested.
The story has a HEA but it also includes the chapter written from Alma's POV that I didn't like (=).
