It's A Date: A Novel

Rate this book
Finding Mr. Right while on her trip to Italy was the last thing that Cindy, a shy Catholic girl, expected to happen. Her thick glasses, unruly hair, and thin body do little to attract attention from men. However, when she picks up the wrong suitcase at the Fiumicino Airport, it causes a chain of events that even she can't stop. Without a name tag, Cindy is clueless who the owner of the suitcase is, other than a male baby doctor who wears Old Spice, pink shirts, and reads baby books - lots of them.

Cindy needs to catch her tour and informs the airport where she will be. She lugs the heavy suitcase along. Handsome Dr. Ricardo Montelbalm, in search of his suitcase, arrives to Cindy's tour to claim it and hand Cindy her suitcase with the intention of going about his business. But he gets in the clutches of a jealous Italian who thinks he is the lover of his fiance, and Cindy saves him.

Ricardo is hooked and joins Cindy on her bus tour through Italy, but there's a fly in their ointment of bliss. Cousin Bernie, whose allergies and annoying interference keeps tabs on them every step of the way.

At the Trevi Fountain, Cindy and Ricardo make a promise to return to Rome the following year, but Bernie interferes and gets into a fight with Ricardo. Ricardo disappears, leaving Cindy disappointed and wondering if he will return for their date. Bernie tells her to forget about him, saying that Ricardo was a woman chaser. Is he right about Ricardo?

This hilarious, yet touching, romance takes you through Rome's beautiful sites and is seen through the eyes of a young, plain woman experiencing love for the first time. A year later, her transformation into a beautiful woman is complete. She travels to Rome, dressed fashionably, and wearing contacts, Cindy has arrived for her date with Ricardo at the Trevi Fountain, convinced that she still loves him, but will he be there?

Nice story a little choppy but it was nice to read all the different places in Italy where the story takes place.
