With just one glance at the cover of Sweetness you already know that this love story is gonna rock, but there is so much more to this book than the traditional boy-meets-girl tale. When we meet Emma, she has just graduated from college and is ready to move to New York City with her best friend to start her career in her father's marketing agency. Demons of her past have prevented her from ever letting a man into her heart, except maybe once, five years before, when she had met Dominic Ross, the lead singer of a New Jersey band. Emma had always felt that there was more to her connexion with Dominic than what she had ever felt with anyone, but circumstances and an evil mind have kept them apart. When they meet again, sparks fly and their romance starts over, but not without hitting a few road bumps. The characters are well developped and even the secondary ones come to life on the pages. There were some misspellings and structure problems in the version I got, but I was told it was now fixed and it didn't alter the pleasure of reading that story. The ending was unexpected and I found it a very courageous choice because the author could have so easily chosen the easy way out. Another unexpected thing for this genre was that the sexual tension between Emma and Dominic was often exceeded by the one between her and her boss, Gabe. Maybe that was not without purpose. We'll have to wait till the second book in the series, Bittersweet, to find out. Sweetness is a very enjoyable read that will leave you an emotionnal mess, but one that is well worth going through.

Whoa! I don't think there's a word worthy enough to describe how I felt about this book. It's just... Holy goats! It's amazing! It's been so long since a book has drawn me in like this one did. I lived it. I breathed it. I felt it! This book is emotional with humor in just the right spots. It's a story about personal struggles and surviving those demons. This book is about how money doesn't buy happiness. And how the greatest gifts of all can be ripped from our hands. The author has a way with words that draws you in and keeps you there. She tugged at my heart strings throughout the entire book. She turned me into a blubbering mess at the end of this book. She cracked open my soul and I'm still not sure if I'll recover from what I just went through. The fact that I'm still reeling from this book says so much about the authors writing abilities. I absolutely without a doubt loved everything about this book and I would put myself through all the turmoil I felt while reading it over and over and over again because I loved it that much.

This is one of those books that left me feeling numb with too many emotions to describe at one time.

I finished Sweetness about 3 weeks ago and as soon as I finished the book. I emailed the author and basically expressed what a funk she put me and how much I needed her to hurry up and write book two, like yesterday!

Swwetness does not end so sweet .

But lets start from the beginning.

This story focuses on the life of Emma Hill. Emma is a NY’er trying to settle in her new position at her father’s company. Emma’s dad is well respected and financially stable. Emma does not want any handouts from her dad and although greatfull for the many opportunities having her Dad as her Dad she wants to make her way in the business all on her own. Emma has felt the brunt end of jealousy and people judging her based on her fathers success, her whole life. So she tries to make sure her work ethic speaks for itself. But out of nowhere Emma’s work and life come colliding into one HUGE mess.

Dominic is this hot rock guy that Emma was a backstage groupie for back in the day. They had a fling going on but she was underage and her step brother was not going to let that go down. Years pass and Dominic and Emma reconnect. It was really sweet to see how they made up for all the loss time and fell in love again. We literally get to see their relationship develop from infancy of cute flirting to something more. Emma has a history of past trauma that besides her closest friends that know half the story no one knows what really happened to her and why she is the way she is. Readers learn early on about what happened to Emma but the author develops the story and its impact on Emma’s relationships throughout the book.

I loved Emma’s friends. Wanda was a hoot she cracked me up and Max he was sweet too. Emma’s boss.. what can I say about him. There is so much sexual tension in this book between him and Emma it’s kinda odd because you’re like wait isn’t she with Dominic !? So why do I want her to sleep with Gabe? LOL

Ok, so there’s no love triangle but the sexual tension is thick.

Things I didn’t like about the book: It needs editing and fomatting. I found many repeat and misspelled words in this book. Chapters do not line up. Like a new chapter will start on the same page as a previous chapter. The page breaks wee just a simple ##### .

Would I recommend this book: Yes, I would! The ending is a cliffy! So if you do not want a cliffhanger than you might want to wait until the series is done. The author does a good job of wrapping things up at the end of the book. But then she literally leaves you in a crying mess.

Wow, this book was intense!! I must say I was hooked in the first chapter and I finished it in one day.
Emma comes from a tortured past. She has a skewed view on love. After learning about her past, it's easy to see why. At the beginning of the story I thought she and Max would be perfect for each other. He is the guy friend every girl wishes they had, you know hot, straight and totally in love with you. But once Emma reconnects with her long lost boyfriend Dominic everything changes. He is rock star on the rise, he says and DOES everything every girl wants!! Seriously, hot stuff.
As their story moves on, they struggle to find a balance for their untraditional long distance relationship. For me, Emma is rather confusing when it comes to her decision making skills. Just when I thought she loved Dom more than anything, her smoking hot boss Gabe would make her forget she was a taken women.
The story was an emotional roller coaster that I didn't want to get off of. I laughed, cried and wanted to ring Emma's neck.
The story was very well written, I love connecting with characters & S.L. Gonzales is a great storyteller. That said, there are a ton of grammatical errors. I would have given more stars, but that many errors is just lame.
But still, I can NOT wait for the next book. I really can't wait to see how Emma will overcome her grief.

editing...editing...editing... The overall storyline of this book was good. However the spelling and grammatical errors had me grinding my teeth by the end! I will definitely read the second one because I need to know what happens, but I hope the author has it edited properly!

I wanted this book to rise above it's dark theme and florish. Instead it just depressed me. Hated the ending, not even going to think about reading the sequel.
