I love the connection between Adam and Chance. It starts out as a crazy physical attraction but it grows into a lot more. Along the way both men change for the better. Good start to a new series for me.

Adam is book one in the Hybrids series. I read Mace, the second book, first, and I got so caught up in the story, I had to go back and get Adam's book. The background is secret military research. They're splicing animal DNA with human DNA to create soldiers. Adam is a wolf hybrid and he's been locked up all his life. There's a fire and he escapes. Adam is always running, trying to stay one step ahead of the bad guys, first in his wolf body, then as a man. I liked seeing how Adam learned to get along in the real world after being kept in a cell. Of course, he doesn't trust anyone, and when he meets Chance, he's suspicious. But Chance won't give up on Adam, and you just know these two belong together. They're a great couple, the physical attraction is intense. I loved Adam's story as much as Mace's, and I can't wait for Loki's book to come out.

This is the second book I’ve read in Gale’s Stanley’s Hybrids series. I loved the second book with Loki and this story with Adam, the first in the series, has me hooked. Who’d have thought M/M love could be so fulfilling. The sex scenes are hot, the romance touching, and the danger these two lovers face is suspenseful and real.
A wolf-shifter, as a result of DNA tampering, Adam is on the run from the military camp he escaped from. Living in a constant state of fear, his chance meeting with Chance was a bit too very opportune for Adam, so he distrusted him and fought the growing attraction between them, until his past caught up with him, in more ways than one, and he had no choice but to capitulate… resistance, at that point, was futile. I'll definitely be following the rest of the series. Fans of M/M will most definitely enjoy this series.

"Adam [Hybrids 1]" by Gale Stanley is the story of a genetically altered human, part of a military project headed by an evil scientist. He was supposed to be the perfect soldier, but along the way something went wrong and now he can shape-shift into a wolf. Adam manages to escape from captivity and he's on the run, until he meets a man who wants him to stick around. Adam would like nothing better, but the bad guys are hot on his trail. The question now is, will these guys get their happy ending? Adam's journey is action packed, emotional, and a fun ride. A must read for fans of M/M romance.

Adam (Hybrids 1) is the first book I have read by Gale Stanley. This is story centered around a government project with an evil scientist. You gotta love that. Adam's DNA was manipulated at birth in order to create the perfect soldier.

But, what's perfect? Adam ends up on the run and right into the life of Chance Hollis. Is it lust or love?

This is a short read and the perfect set up for a series. I highly recommend this and look forward to the next installment in the series.

There are plenty of mad scientist stories, but this one puts a different twist on it. The book starts out dark and edgy, then Chance comes into Adam's life and helps him see the light. Waiting for the next one. I want to know what happened to Loki!

Excellent beginning to what could be a great series. I really enjoyed this story. It's a nice twist on the shape shifter/mad scientist project mythos. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Sci-fi story about gene splicing, with hot males on the run. Some steamy scenes, but not overloaded with sex, which is fine with me.

I love this author's imagination and she is my go to for paranormal reads. She is able to weave a story that pulls you in and keeps you entertained through-out the story line.
Another great read from an author who I absolutely adore.

This is a novella and I read fast, plus the story kept me interested. It's nice to read a paranormal where the guys really like each other and aren't destined soulmates. And I like big, muscular alpha males who are also sweet and inexperienced.

I thought this was a very interesting concept which intrigued me a great deal.

While the story is nice and mostly smooth, it doesn't go into much detail. You don't know much about the characters, their lives or the circumstances revolving around Hybrids. You only really know the basics about them and because not much is elaborated on, everything seems too fast paced. I didn't really know the characters or how they could fall in love so fast. Especially since there was no 'destined mates' to explain the quick love.

Still, the story was cute enough and I did like it because the story is sweet and what you do know about Adam and Chance might make you sympathetic to them. I was just hoping we'd get more information on everything pertaining to the shifters since they were lab-made instead of born or turned. Hopefully we'll find out more about them in the next books because the story was intriguing enough to continue the series and the characters were likable even if they were a bit two dimensional.

Recommended to those looking for a quick, non-traditional shifters story.

This short story sets up a series that can run and run (as far as I am concerned at least!). I enjoyed the detail, the level of tension, and most of all the awakening of Adam's feelings. It works on a number of levels, as we live in times where the premise of the story is not entirely far fetched, and the romance is both sweet, but also hot. And although clearly there is more to come, the story does not end on a cliffhanger - for which I am grateful!

When is the next installment out?

I really liked this book a lot. I wished that it could have been more, but I thoroughly enjoyed especially the connection between Adam and Chaunce. Ready for book 2. Also I just loved how their love shined through it all and to me that was great.

This is a short fast read about Adam who was genetically altered at birth by his father. A freak accident allows Adam to escape from being held at a research facility. After being on the run Adam meets Chance and things take off from there.

Sex Scences: Only a few but they were good :)

Characters: I instantly connected to Adam

Would I recommend this to others: For sure

Religious: No

More than one book in a series: This has potential to be a series and I hope it turns into one.

Genre: M/M, Paranormal, Werewolves, Romance/Erotic

Would I read more from this author: Yes

This story didn't pull me as I thought it would. There is to many similar series already written and this one didn't have much of originality. It was to simple and undeveloped. The plot was okay, but there was nothing fresh. The romance between Adam and Chance developed to fast. The characters were undeveloped and bland.

A Chance Encounter is the first book I have read by Gale Stanley and the first in the new series from her, Hybrids #1. I have mixed feelings about this book so I give it a 3.25 rating.

This is Gale Stanley's take on the Secret Government Project/Evil Scientist story and she does a nice job with it. Adam's DNA was manipulated at birth in a project aimed at producing the perfect soldier. The scientist in charge of the project? None other than Adam's father. During an explosion at the military lab that housed the experimental subjects, Adam escapes and ends up on the run. After a time, he ends up in Philadelphia where he meets a man called Chance Hollis, son of a local business tycoon.

And this is where the story derailed for me. The author's descriptions of Adam's life and containment within the lab was visual and real. I felt for Adam and the other young men that had been turned into creatures upon military order and hated how they were treated. Even the lust at first sight was believable and believably written for both men.

One of the things that kept me from giving this a higher rating is the "love at first sight" relationship that Adam and Chance jump into, both declaring their love for each other almost immediately. In some shifter novels where this happens, it is explained by the presence of pheromones or the mate drive or some other "deus ex machina" brought about by the author. Here there is no such explanation as Adam is essentially a lab experiment. Here they just "looove" one another. This is also not believable as Adam has spent almost his entire life as a lab rat, so he has no interpersonal skills and zero trust in people for obvious reasons. I also didn't care very much for Chance who has his own father issues. He just seemed a little whiney to me. He wants to write, his father wants him to learn his business from the ground up. What a villain! Chance compares his office cubicle to a prison which is laughable after the great job Gale Stanley does in describing the horrors of the prison that Adam lived in. Chance did not seem very credible to me.

This is a short book, only 8 chapters. I think it would have been a far better book if the relationship of the characters had been given a chance to develop naturally through at least Book 2, from lust to like to love. As it is, the book ends abruptly as the characters jet off into the sequel and presumably the sunset.

I will get the sequel to this when it comes out to see if the characters improve as well as to see what happens next.

This is an awesome beginning for a great series! The blurb alone made me curious. The cover art also piqued my curiosity. After reading Kendall McKenna's books on gay werewolf military romance, I found myself wanting to find other good reads that also featured gay werewolf action stuff. This book fit the bill!

Stanley's descriptive details immerse me into the world of the hybrids, who are half animal and half human as a result of scientific research. This sci fi/paranormal read features Adam, an experimental byproduct of DNA splicing between animal and human. Imprisoned in a top secret facility manned by abusive guards who see Adam and his fellow "experiments" as less than human, Adam seeks escape and yearns for freedom. An opportunity arises and he not only escapes, he also grabs ahold of incriminating evidence that lands him in a most wanted list -- just as he meets journalist Chance.

From the first chapter, Adam won me over. I wanted him to be free and have his chance with Chance. :-) Characters were well-developed, plot was riveting--I couldn't put this book down! Definitely highly recommended!!

**** 3 1/2 Stars ****

I enjoyed this story about Adam, a genetically enhanced human, and Chance, a man who is a disappointment to his father. Adam is on the run from the father who created him and who ultimately wants to see him destroyed. Chance is trying to survive in a corporate world that stifles him but is doing his best to make his father proud.

Can two men who are struggling with finding who they are get a chance at happiness? Can Adam escape his past to forge a future?

Big time insta-love and plot holes. Adam's self loathing was tiresome, and I never warmed up to either protagonist. And I couldn't buy, in the end, that New Mexico wasn't the priority as they headed off into the sunset. What was the point of

Notes: New Mexico is NOT a part of the Midwest. And there is a difference between exasperate and exacerbate. Oh, and who says "for crying out Pete"? I've heard "for Pete's sake" and "for the love of god". And here's a good one..."Riding *firearm* with John might be the safest place...". Surely the author meant *shotgun*. All this stuff a decent editor would have flagged just kept pulling me out of the already too-short story.

DNF at around 90%. Let's see... how could this have been better...? I think it suffered a bit because it was a bit too short, so we don't get to dig very deep into each character. Another thing that could have made it better is to break apart a lot of the inner dialogue with actual experiences instead of being told about them. I.e. Experience interaction between Chance and his dad instead of being told. We could have experienced some of Chance's failed relationships or experienced more of Adam's experiences in the lab. But, we're just not given enough to really connect with the characters.

Completely unrealistic but I laughed my ass off every time Chance opened his mouth. I also liked Adam a lot. Not much depth though to either Chance or Adam. You're told but not shown and even that is not much. Their relationship also progresses way too fast. Adam seems to trust Chance immediately and it's not exactly the reaction I expected from someone with a past like him. Seems way too easy and simple. Same about Chance regarding Adam. Picture perfect ending wasn't something I expected either.

I liked this story, especially the way it began. When I read the blurb it said that he escaped the facility he was held in, but when I started the book it was explained that the security was extremely high which made me wonder in what way he really could escape. It went a bit fast, but it wasn't bad. I didn't get how Chance could trust him so easily when he didn't even know him that well. Most people would freak out and stay away from someone who's being attacked. Other than that, the story was enjoyable.

I think this is a good start to a promising series. I did think that the 2 MCs had a bit too much insta-love going on and being such a short read, it just all seemed abrupt. Anyway, looking forward to hopefully reading more about some of the other characters!
