3.5 stars. This is the story of a woman living in a dystopian world where a plague has taken over the world, spread by a virus, killing scores. The uninfected live in refugee camps trying to stay save from the infected. The infected are not merely contagious, they are shifters who turn into wolves when their impulse control is poor, often at night. The woman in questions is one of the infected. The shift sheds all human memories and she has no recall of her name or her past. She exists day to day in a broken down cabin she found knowing very little but instinctively trying to stay safe.

Things change though when she finds a man in her territory. He's an inexperienced hunter, but unable to detect the beast in her. But as the woman tells herself later, men are nothing but trouble because she's forced to show her wolf side to him and runs away. Her adventure doesn't end there. She visits a commune, makes a friend, finds her control pushed to the brink, and her past comes back to greet her.

I'm a new dystopian fan and found this world completely fascinating, so much I wanted more. Then you have the woman, a woman who can't even remember her own name. The author portrayed her perfectly, her uncertainty and fear of herself and her world, her refusal to give in to the call of the beast, her animalistic attraction to the opposite sex, and her struggle to trust resonated through thoughts and observations meshed from human ideas and beast instinct.

The sex was overdone a bit and the ending felt weird but overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend it for anyone who enjoys this type of story.

Ok, the sex...that was good. The rest, it fell flat. I didn't get any emotions from any of the characters.

This book held me captive till the end. It was a great story. Loved the characters and ant wait to read the next one.
