This is the the ongoing struggle for survival in a world still ravaged and torn by warfare. And these are the massive, armored, half-human, half-machine super warriors – The Warbots. Civilization is under attack! A “virus program” has been injected into America’s polar-orbit military satellites by an unknown enemy. The only motive can be the preparation for attack against the free world. The source of “infection” is traced to a barren, storm-swept rock-pile in the southern Indian Ocean. Now, it is up to the forces of freedom to search out and destroy the enemy. With the aid of their infantry – The Warbots – The Washington Greys mount Operation High Dragon in a climactic battle for the future of the free world.
George Harry Stine attended the University of Colorado in Boulder. Upon his graduation he went to work at White Sands Proving Grounds, first as a civilian scientist and then, from 1955–1957, at the U.S. Naval Ordnance Missile Test Facility as head of the Range Operations Division.
Stine and his wife Barbara were friends of author Robert A. Heinlein, who sponsored their wedding, as Harry's parents were dead and Barbara's mother too ill to travel. Several of Heinlein's books are dedicated one or both of them, most particularly Have Space Suit - Will Travel. Stine also wrote science articles for Popular Mechanix.
Nick.r What did you think the book was about? The book warbots was about war.But it goes deeper then that. Its truly is about Americas struggle to find the station that’s infecting satellites. It also combines war with drama. Did you enjoy the book?why?why not? I enjoyed the book warbots because I was drawn in my the cover, concept and the use of mature words.I enjoyed it because it was very actiony at some parts, but it also drew me in by it being a war novel I like war novels. One actiony part was the training exercise where they struggled but still won. Were the characters realistic?would you want to meet any of the characters?Did you like them?Hate them? The characters were very realistic because of the language, actions and their emotions.I would want to meet major curt Carson so I could ask him how he felt when he was shot and the bullet did not penetrate him.i liked his leadership ability and the way he used the Strategies were genius. Did the actions of the characters seem plausible?why?why not? Yes they seem plausible because they had to do what they did, cause its pary of their job or is to protect an ally.Like in weiseban were eddie Sampson got into a fight with a drunk Russian and curt Carson and unit joined the fight to help eddie Sampson so it was justified. If one(or more) of the characters made a choice that had moral implications,Would you have made the same decision?why?why not? Yeah I would of made the same decision because the drunk Russians were insulting curt’s unit. Did the book end the way you expected? No it didn’t end the way I expected because I expected curt to settle down with his girlfriend, but he ended up getting sent to the hospital cause he got shot and sort of ends up with his girlfriend. Would you recommend this book to other readers?to a close friend? Yes I would recommend this book to both because it shows you what its like to be in the army. What was your favourite part/scene of the book? My favourite part of the book was the training exercise because it shows how strategy can beat numbers cause the Russians were larger in number and but curt still beat them with less numbers. Everyone-on a scale from 1-10 what would you give this book-what would have made this book better? I would give this book a 8.5 because it has a good idea and characters. The only thing that would have made it better is the addition of more action.
