The Nordic Fae #2

The Fae of the Forest

Rate this book
It isn’t Lennie’s fault a fae went missing, but it’s her neck on the line if she doesn’t find them.

Ever since Lennie was gifted elemental powers and became a demi-fae, it has been one chaotic problem after another. At least she has her grumpy and sunshine companions – a relationship that grows more serious by the day – to help her navigate this new world of the fae.

Thankfully, she’s always been good at rolling with the punches, too. Including when the Fjell Fae dole out threats and send Lennie, Espen, and Øyvin on a manhunt deep within the Norwegian forests to find a missing fae. There they face growing unrest among the locals, wayward wolves, and more snow than she’s ever seen.

As the pressure mounts to find the missing fae, will Lennie and her guys succeed or will her sassy mouth land them in trouble again?

The Fae of the Forest is a steamy romantic fantasy set in modern-day Norway with heaps of humor, magic, and Scandinavian flair. This book is perfect for readers of Jaymin Eve and Tate James, who like their female main characters confident and relatable.

The Fae of the Forest, the second full length novel in The Nordic Fae series, starts off right after the events of Fae of the Fjord and Christmas on the Fjord. Note here, if you have not read Christmas on the Fjord before this book, it’s very important that you do. This book won’t make much sense, and then it just won’t be as good for you. That being said, I myself am Team Øyvin, though I do love both of the guys that have the pleasure of being in Lennie’s life. And when I say they have the pleasure, oh, they certainly do. It gets steamy… again. 😈 Lennie is beginning to learn how to live this new life after the events that concluded book one, and she has Øyvin and Espen along with her as she does. And now they’re tasked by our ancient one Halvar for something of the utmost importance. So… queue all of the Lennie mishaps and shenanigans. From start to finish this book is so fun, and Elle is an incredible writer who has made me love these characters so much. Some people can write well, and some stories are great, but if you can’t write characters that I can invest in, I get bored quickly, and I don’t want to read something with characters with no substance. Everyone in this story has SO much. And I have been along the sidelines waiting for Øyvin to open up the way I knew he would, and we get to see a soft and beautiful side to him. We also even get to see soft and serious Lennie. Shocker, I know. IYKYK. And also, to read a character like Lennie, who I see so much of my ‘too much’ self in, find people who truly love her, even in all of her brazen, loudmouth, and smartass self. She is not too much for these guys, and they see HER and love her for all of these obnoxious things and more. It’s part of who she is, but it isn’t all of who she is. And seeing myself in a character is rare because I am a woman much like her and I have struggled in life, and getting to read someone I recognize in a book is so comforting. I adore her. Fae of the Forest is so good, and these characters are hands down some of my all time favorite main characters and top book relationships. If you enjoyed the first two books, then you’ll love this one that much more.

I forgot that this is only the official second book in the trilogy! I’m left wanting more because this was just so good. I was captivated from the beginning and feel like I just experienced such an adventure!

“You’re no longer on vacation, Trouble. This is just your life”

Lennie remains as one of my favourite FMC’s, her inner monologue is wild, yet also very relatable. She was just saying everything I was pretty much thinking.

Øyvin *sigh. I just want to scoop him up and hold him. The entire scene with Ingrid and her family had my heart breaking a little bit.

Espen, such an adorable golden retriever energy yogi. I love him.

Just when Lennie starts to understand her newly acquired powers, Halvar sends her, Espen and Øyvin to retrieve a missing fae.
But what should be an easy task, soon turn out to be just as much trouble as everything Lennie stumbles into.
With time not being on their side, will Lennie and her guys succeed or will Lennie's sass once again land her in more trouble than she bargained for?

I. LOVE. THESE. CHARACTERS. SO. MUCH. This is definitely one of my favourite series in forever. Lennie and her guys, different as they all are, are able to bring on all the feels. I laughed, I had tears in my eyes, I gasped, I swooned (so hard), I had goosebumps all over and I wanted to clock my kindle over one character's head multiple times.
Book 2 is as fantastic as book 1, bringing on a lot of fun, heart and action. I loved how Lennie finally opened up to Espen and Øyvin, realising their relationship might not be as fae-ke as she made it out to be.
If you like why choose romance, swoony and grumpy fae, FMCs who always find trouble (or trouble finds them) start reading this series!!

This week I had a one way ticket to Norway compliments of Elle when the ARC of The Fae of the Forest hit my Kindle.

I forgot just how much I missed our sassy Lennie. She’s the pain in the ass in the middle of a sunshine sandwich and an absolute delight to read.

This book picks up where we left off - Lennie coming to terms with her new found demi-fae status and learning how to control the powers she was given. Together with her grumpy x sunshine duo (Øyvin + Espen) they take off on a quest to find a missing fae deep in the forest. You can only guess how much chaos ensues considering Lennie is involved.

The Fae of the Forest reminded me just how much I love reading romantic fantasy books. There’s humor, chaos, magic AND Elle blessed us with a great MFM/why choose. Truly just the perfect cozy read!

NOTE: Before you read this, make sure you’ve read The Fae of the Fjord AND the Christmas novella, Christmas on the Fjord.

WOW I love this book. Lennie training sessions with Halvar? Then Halvar sending her and the guys on a quest to Espen’s hometown? Sign me up! We get a lot more character introductions and world building. Just to tease - Espen’s family, wolf shifters, and a new division of fae!
Lennie continues to get herself in multiple troublesome situations. Øyvin and Espen continue to stress over protecting her, and eventually have THE Relationship Talk.
Book 2 definitely holds up to the expectation set in Book 1. Lots of squealing, foot kicking, and laughing at the situations the trio find themselves in.

The second full length book in this series did not disappoint! Our favorite far trio is on the hunt for the heir of the fjell fae. With these three on the job, what could go wrong?

We get to explore another part of Norway, heading back to Espen’s home town. It was endearing to get to see his family and their love and support for him and his fiancée. We also get to learn a bit more about the Fae factions and how things have been going since the Queen died and the council came to be. I enjoyed getting to learn a bit more about some of the older fae as well as history and tradition.

We meet another character who seems like they could give Lennie a run for her money, and I hope we get to see more of them in the final book in the trilogy!

There’s a bit more world building in this book, in little bits and pieces introduced throughout (such as a fourth faction of fae) as well as in the epilogue. Im curious to see how everything will tie together!

While there is no major cliffhanger, the author sets us up to see some major political maneuverings come to fruition, as well as more personal adventures with our MCs. I’m so excited to see what happens next!

An absolutely perfect sequel! I’ve read each in this series twice. Each time I pick up one of the books, I love this world and these characters even more. Elle has such a natural way of making the characters and the setting tangible and relatable.

The Nordic Fae series is a light-hearted, medium-stakes, why-choose fantasy romance that will leave you with wanderlust for Norway. ✨

"A sense of impending doom settled over me. If Halvar had a message for us then sh*t was about to hit the fan...and that never ended well for me."

Thrasher is back with a sexy new installment of the Nordic Fae series! The Fae of the Forest is book two in the series, and follows the events of the Christmas on the Fjord novella. It is necessary to read the series in order, so if you haven't started yet check out book one, The Fae of the Fjord.

Tasked by Halvar to find the Fjell Fae heir, Lennie, Espen, and Oyvin journey to Alvdalen where they encounter a reluctant heir, wolf shifters, and Lennie meets Espen's family for the first time. The Fae of the Forest has all of my favorite things from the previous stories in this series: great banter, hijinks, adventure, Nordic culture and environmental concerns, so many laughs, and spicy romance. It also has more Halvar! If you've read the previous books in the series, I know how excited that will make you. We get introduced to some new characters, who bring more laughs and new mysteries for the next book in the series.

Lennie is one of my all-time favorite FMCs. She is so relatable! I can't even tell you how many times I thought, "Girl, same" while reading. Her inner monologue and banter with the other characters is always entertaining. There is great relationship development between Lennie and each of the males, some adorably sweet moments, and some great spice. Thrasher expertly weaves a sexy, funny story with Nordic culture and traditions, highlighting the plight of Norwegian wolves in this story. I love how Thrasher brings attention to different environmental/animal conversation issues in each book!

The Fae of the Forest is such a good time: feet kicking, butterfly inducing, laugh out loud funny, fanning yourself spicy...the perfect mix of everything in one story. Can't recommend this story and this series enough!

"I thought that was his resting state. Like Resting B*tch Face, but make it scary Viking Fae."

"You have boy scout badges for those? Or perhaps an achievement pin?"
"We have a hat."
"Seriously?"
"No."
"Did you just make a joke, big guy?"
"Also no. Try again."

"I don't even think a threat from Halvar makes me that special anymore. He threatens everyone. My ability to tie cherry stems with my tongue though? That is special."

"How do you know it's my size?..."
"Let's just say I'm well acquainted with your curves."

"Look, I'm not the sunshine in this sandwich situation we have going on here."
"You're the pain in the a$$ that sits in the middle."

"It was love at first punch."

"Please come back with us. We have cookies."

Adjusting to her new powers has been no easy task Lennie. Even with Espen and Øyvin’s help she has a lot to learn. Before she fully gets a handle on things, the trio is sent on a quest of sorts to find a missing fae heir.

The Fae of the Forest is the second book in The Nordic Fae series. Caution: This is not a stand-alone! Read book 1, The Fae of the Fjord, and the Christmas novella, Christmas on the Fjord first. If you try to read this book by itself, much confusion will befall you and it will not be the fault of the Fae…probably. This contemporary fantasy does have spicy, open-door, “why choose” elements.

Poor Lennie just can’t keep herself out of trouble. Now that she has been gifted these powers, I was curious to see if there would be any shift in the dynamics of the trio. If anything, they’re just hotter and more chaotic in the best possible way. Lennie definitely has had some growth since the first book. While she’s still pretty stubborn, she is more open to help and certainly realizes she can’t do everything on her own. This book was a page turner! After the Christmas novella, I was desperate to see what happened next and The Fae of theForest was thoroughly satisfying.

I can’t wait to see what kind of mischief this intrepid trio gets up to next in the final book of the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Fae of the Forest by Elle Thrasher is book 2 in The Nordic Fae series. It is recommended to read after book 1 and 1.5. They’ll be listed below!

This was such a good sequel! I was instantly transported back to Skolvik, Norway. A small town hidden with fae and covered in snow. I love the atmosphere in this story. Elle also really knows how to write funny, relatable but complex characters. I really couldn’t wait to see how Lennie, øyvin, and Espen’s journey grew since the last book! I’m always laughing at what Lennie says and does. It mixes so well with the modern fantasy plot. I really enjoyed the possessiveness and protection between the characters. It definitely built up the romance and spice.

I loved the action and adventure. It had me flipping the pages so fast. I was thinking of what could possibly happen and definitely didn’t expect some twists! You can also expect some heartfelt moments that I felt really brought the book together!

I highly recommend reading this book/series! Out now!

More travel, more family, more history, and more spice await you in this why choose romantasy!

Our FMC is Evelyn “Lennie” Martin, now part-Fjell Fae and part human. She’s in Skolvik, Norway after meeting and falling for two Fae gentlemen who don’t mind sharing her. She’s outspoken, headstrong, sweet, romantic, and very impulsive! In this story, she learns more about her powers, meets Espen’s family, and begins to allow her heart to truly open to her guys. A lot of travel, a few instances of kidnapping, some wolf-shifter escapades, some battle opportunities, and a cave-in, keep the pace moving and the twists coming! Lennie comes more and more into her own and lives her life on her own terms, supported by the hottest Fae dudes in Norway.

MMC 1, Espen, has the chance to introduce Lennie to his family, while doing a lot of behind the scenes negotiating, dealing with council politics, and keeping Lennie safe. His protective side shows up strong, his backstory is more fleshed out and he falls quite a bit more deeply in love with Lennie.

MMC 2, Oyvin, continues to be the warrior, the brawny protector, and brooding bully, but his heart softens A LOT in this book and it’s really sweet to see! We still get plenty of his brand of “eyes on me” spice too!!

I love this Nordic Fae world and all the people and places and history surrounding it! I’m not normally a why choose person but this triad really holds a special place in my heart.

✨ My Thoughts ✨
This one was so much to read. I loved being back with these characters and back into this world. I truly have missed them. Lennie is the funniest FMC I have ever read. I love how chaotic and funny she is. Espen and Øyvin are both still an absolute dream. I love how the story flowed. I enjoyed getting to see all the new characters too. The adventure in this book was fun too. I loved all the twists that this book took. I loved all the magic too. I am excited for the next book. I definitely have some theories.

The Fae of the Forest is book two in The Nordic Fae series. I definitely recommend reading books 1 and 1.5 first. They are also so so good. This book is recommended for 18+. As always please check TW before reading. And you can find books 1 and 1.5 in KU. I can't recommend this series enough.

✨ I want to thank Elle for this earc. These are my own true thoughts. ✨

I loved this. Lennie is staying with Espen and Øyven in Norway, and is making all of the changes necessary to stay there legally. While she finds her footing there, she also needs to figure out her place as a demi-fae.

Learning to use her powers with Espen and Øyven is one thing, but working with Halvar is another entirely. As she learns what she can do with her royal magic and her fae magic, she finds out that she may have gotten much more than she bargained for.

When the trio is sent off to find the Heir of the Fjell, they encounter multiple unexpected issues, including wolves and kidnapping. Will they be able to navigate the secrets and deceit they uncover in time to make a difference?

The Fae of the Forest is the second book in the Nordic Fae series, and I’ve been SO excited to see what will happen with Lennie and my favorite grumpy/sunshine fae men.

I absolutely loved this book! Lennie is still chaotic in the best way, and while she stresses me out, I LOVE her boldness and tenacity! She went through so much growth in this book, and I can’t wait to see her fully embrace herself in book three.

Also Øyvin and Espen are perfect and I will accept no criticism, thank youuuu. If you love a protective but supportive fae man, you’ll love them! And don’t get me started on daddy Halvar 😍

This book was full of emotion, hilarious, spicy, and action packed. I’m in love.

Elle has done it again with Fae of the Forest. I’ve immensely enjoyed books 1 and 1.5, and I can say that 2 is just as good! Things are really going down the drain right off the bat, and we get to join Lennie, Espen, and Øyvin in the fun 😂

Lennie is adjusting to her new abilities and even gets to enjoy daddy lessons from Halvar! He’s just as terrifying and hot as usual. Elle’s humor, banter, and pop culture references are top notch. As a forever Twilight nerd, I loved the Twilight references and am also team Charlie.

Please pick this book up when it releases tomorrow (6/20), you won’t regret it! The plot is so good and is really setting us up for the next book.

"Excellent. Cross-country skiing is a lot of fun. I promise" -Park Ranger Nerd
Again, I would not make it in this place. I would just die. Wolves would take me and you might find the body in spring. The books and Espen have convinced me I should do more yoga so that's a real world positive.

The books keep getting better and better. I think that this one has more small moments and commentary from Lennie that I find to be funny. Lennie and the boys are off on a sightseeing and search quest adventure~!

A little bit of the fake marriage trope and feelings and a bit more fluff. The plot and things with the fae courts really starts moving in the second half of the book.

Well, I once again DEVOURED this next piece of Lennie's story. I absolutely adore her & love the chaos she causes. There are plenty of heart melting scenes between Lennie, Øyvin, and Espen as well as the usual stressful situations that happen due to being a demi-fae. And, of course, there were plenty of laugh out loud moments supplied by Lennie herself.
I absolutely adore this series, and am kind of upset I read it so quickly because now I have to wait for the next one. (And because I know the next book will be the final one 😭)

The continuation of the story is fantastic, with the fun, witty banter, and spice that we all love from the main characters.

The action was awesome, and I loved seeing Lennie grow into her powers a bit while still being her hilarious self. I can’t wait to see what comes next for our trio (and Halvar), and what forces they will face. I do have some ideas, but this is a spoiler-free zone.

If you haven’t read Fae of the Fjord or Christmas on the Fjord, I recommend that you do! Every book on this series is such an enjoyable and fun read!

The Fae Of The Forest is the second book in Thrasher's The Nordic Fae series. The book picks up from where the story left off so it is recommended that you read the first book, as well as the bridging novella before delving in here.

Halvar has tasked Lennie, Espen and Øyvin to locate an individual that is of great importance to the Fjell Fae. This task, while appearing straightforward, is anything but easy. In addition to being a test of her new powers and her loyalty, the future of the Fjell Fae is dependent on them locating the heir to the throne and convincing them to return with them. Following clues which the trio hopes will lead them to locate the individual in question, has them heading to Alvdalen, Espen's hometown.

During the minimal time afforded to them to accomplish this task, Lennie meets Espen's family, has a few interesting encounters, learns a little about fae politics, gets abducted, solves a mystery and gets to learn more about her powers.

Like the first book, I found this one to be a delightful read. Thrasher makes me want to visit Norway and hang out with the locals. I love Lennie and her relationships with both Espen and Øyvin. The men in her life are charming in their own ways, and I wouldn't want either to change. The author always leaves me wanting more, and with the way this one ended, I believe she's not quite done with these characters just yet. I can't wait for the next instalment!

What a great continuation of the series.

Lennie is still a sarcastic queen, the boys are swoony and the setting is lush.

This story is action-packed but still makes time for the romance. As feelings deepen Lennie is so relatable as she grapples with what that means.

These books are a perfect length, definitely recommend diving in with book one.

Also, twilight references are always a plus.

Lennie, Øyvin & Espen are off on another adventure. Lennie's still learning how to channel her new found magic & she has to prove her loyalty to the mountain fae. Sounds easy right? It never is.

Such a great continuation of this series. I continue to fall more and more in love with Lennie and her sexy trolls with each passing page. I literally flew through this book and had such a great time. Elle does the perfect job of balancing spice and plot. I love spicy scenes as much as the next girl but I absolutely HAVE to have a plot that keeps me engaged as well and this series does that spectacularly! Absolutely loved it! These characters and this world is so much fun. This story is filled with action, adventure, banter, laughs, surprise reveals, found family, and romance. I absolutely adore the main characters, chaos, sunshine, and grumpy....all 3 are perfect for each other. I loved the character growth of all 3 of them together and their "why choose" relationship, as well as Lennie's discovery of her new abilities. Overall another fabulous story by Elle Thrasher. I hope we continue to get more of these characters, or at least stories of this world.

Loved this second installment in The Nordic Fae series! We get a deeper look at the different fae factions and get to enjoy Espen’s wild family. Lennie’s relationships with both Øyvin and Espen develop beautifully, and it was so satisfying to see those connections deepen emotionally—along with some excellent spice.

The stakes keep climbing, and I can’t wait to see how their story ends!

The Fae of the Forest picks up Lennie's story after the novella, Christmas at the Fjord. I love this series. Elle has perfected a blend of wit, humor, and action that is incredibly fun to read and will leave you emotionally attached to her entire cast of characters. I cannot recommend this entire series enough.

The first book introduced us to this incredible modern world with a hidden fae society as well as our loveable main characters, Lennie, Espen, and Oyvin. The Fae of the Forest expands the world building and lore wonderfully. We learn about the intricacies of fae society and factions as Lennie is, which includes exploring more fae politics, secrets, and families. The pacing of both the world building and the story are very well done and easy to follow. Elle immediately hooked me and I could not put this book down. Additionally, the consequences from the first book's ending become the focal point for several developing plot lines. Lennie continues to learn to wield her new powers and to trust her heart. Her character development is exceptional in this book in multiple ways and is accomplished with her signature wit and sarcasm. While the book does not end on a cliff hanger, the implications of what happens definitely set up for an epic series conclusion.
