Sorry, ranting ahead!

First of all... The title should have made me suspicious. In retrospect what kind of title is this?
The book was cheap so I thought I couldn't do something wrong... Well, I was wrong.

It was boring, the characters bland, the author jumped from one scene to another place/time..
And some things were absolutely not understandable for me.. attention spoiler!! ( But who wants to read this anyway?)
Maddie finds an extremely expensive necklace and then? Nothing happens. She just tells it her mum and then life goes on without any consequences? Excuse me?

And what totally annoyed me was her stereotype characterisation of foreign speakers.
The German couple where only he talked?!
And always emphathis on the zee instead of thee or vant instead of want.
Yes, there are Germans who can't pronounce some consonants correctly, but there are also millions who can!!
And it would have been sufficient to write perhaps once that he got a strong German accent and then leave it ..
Same goes for the Italian couple.. whenever they spoke she had to put an -a at the end of a word...
Why????

Oh dear, I just found out I could go on and on..
I didn't read the whole book, I skipped pages, trying to find something interesting.. in vain..

An ancient castle, a family crippled by debt, a handsome butler and a guilt-filled young woman searching for answers - and love. What more is needed!
From the first page this book captured me and I couldn't put it down. I have read all books in Alicia Hope's Long Road series and loved them all but this one was my favourite! Beautiful wordsmithing and a great story that I had me hooked. One I highly recommend.
