I should have loved this book. It was a Tomorrow People book, it brought in characters from across the three shows, and it had time travel AU shenanigans. Instead, I spent a lot of time wnating to throw it across the room.
What did I hate? Oh dear: This needed another draft. Or a copy edit. There were a lot of egregious typos, some contradictions, and in one notable place, Kevin Wilson (from the '92 series) was referred to as Kevin Weston. Um... Yeah, that just didn't work. Cara's last name was wrong.
Speaking of the women of the shows, this book did a huge disservice to them. Even Carol, who had the most lines, could have easily been replaced by a sexy lamp. She had more internal motivation and characterization in the show. That is... um, I think there was digging to get under that bar.
Mr. Davidson could also do with a canon review, specifically Slaves of Jedikiah (he got the ages wrong) and The Origin Story (nothing in canon says that the Prime Barrier works that way). Playing fast and loose with the Prime Barrier is not a way to endear me to a Tomorrow People story and this one is... better than the 2013 show at least? If you know the show, that's a low bar.
Finally, while I'll grant there was an AU, any character that wasn't John or Gabriel was under-utilized and underdeveloped.
I really hate to say this of the first book of a series, but it's not an encouraging start. Worse, the next book is written by Gary "The Deadliest Species" Russell. I'm not going to kid myself into saying I'm not going to buy it, but if the paperback isn't going to be available via US Amazon I'll either wait for a few to come out to save on shipping or go for the long term rental, er, Kindle edition.
Rebooting once more the 1970's TV show "The Tomorrow People", this novel brings back many of the original characters in a new plotline. A pop star named Gabriel has appeared, and is the most popular singer in music history. But his singing masks his true reason for being in this world - a world that's very different from ours.
A confusing story that changes the format away from the TV series to a completely new storyline. It doesn't start making any sense until about two-thirds in, and then it proceeds to confuse matters more. It's not helped by very poor editing that results in line breaks in the wrong places and a lack of attention to details.
