The Complications of Life, Love, Work and Family
Children often seem to absorb the emotional fallout from the successes and failures of the adults in their worlds, bearing the scars caused by the actions of those adults. For the brothers Simmons—18-year-old Kane and 4-year-old Tim—the abandonment by their dad impacted both sons. Kane, a college student, focused on completing his degree and utilizing his coding skills to build a software company that could support him, his mom and his brother. And perhaps he didn’t come home to be with his young, fatherless brother as often as he wanted, but he was doing his best to make money to support his abandoned mom and young brother. But, Tim seemed to mature and do well in school, and just before graduating from high school, he met Chloe Smith, a beautiful, sweet girl, who also had her eye on college. So, from Kane’s distant perspective, it seemed that all was well with his family.
And, for Chloe and Tim, it seemed natural to evolve into a couple. Both gifted in math—she following a pathway as a coder and he as an accountant. And so, it seemed natural for the petite, blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty and the dark-haired, brown-eyed, tall, handsome man, made plans for a shared future together. So, during senior year, 21-year-old Chloe discovered that she was pregnant with baby Skye, she wasn’t over-wrought. She and Tim were a couple—they didn’t need marriage to make their connection real. And now, they would soon have sweet baby Skye as evidence of her parents’ love.
But, shortly after graduating, when instead of the ring and proposal Chloe was expecting, Tim shared that he wasn’t interested in marriage, that in fact, he needed space, Chloe’s heart and dreams of family were crushed. And so, needing to begin to provide as a single mom for her daughter, Chloe packed up her possessions and those of 2-year-old Skye heading to Austin, the tech center of her state, Texas, where her good friend Fiona, also a techie, had moved, gaining employment with K-Synch—a billion-dollar tech organization.
And, with luck, Chloe was also soon hired as a coder by K-Synch. But, what neither Chloe nor Fiona had connected was that the company’s owner was a familiar face and name in their hometown—Kane Simmons, Tim’s older brother. And, for Chloe and toddler Skye, he was even closer—he was Skye’s uncle and would have been Chloe’s brother-in-law had his brother, Tim, ever proposed.
Kane Simmons, the 40-year-old brother tech entrepreneur and brother of Tim, Chloe’s erstwhile lover shared many attributes. Both had dark eyes and dark-hair—although Kane’s hair was now touched with gray, but they were very different men. Kane had been forced to become an adult at 18—the man of the house—taking on unexpectedly and pre-maturely, the responsibilities dropped by his deadbeat dad who left both mom and sons behind, fending for themselves.
And now, Kane unknowingly, was providing employment for Chloe, his delinquent brother’s girlfriend and baby mama. Fate had guaranteed that the smalltown families of the Simmons and Smiths would stay close, even if far from their smalltown home. And, Kane, once more, becomes the man-of-family, at first stepping in unknowingly, since Tim stepped out. But Tim’s presence hangs close, even if his body is absent. And, with time Kane comes to appreciate Chloe’s beauty, sweetness and her brilliance as a coder becomes obvious, the connections between Chloe and Kane intensify.
But nothing is ever easy in life, love or work. Kane has established rules for his company that he expects his employees to follow that discourage workplace romantic relationships hiring of relatives. So, although he didn’t personally hire Chloe or even know that she was a member of the team, once he does, workplace life becomes challenging. And, the complications grow as he learns of his niece Skye and becomes better acquainted with his younger brother’s former girlfriend—a woman whom Kane comes to admire and respect for her intelligence, beauty and sweet nature—all qualities that he would like to make his own.

Tim Simmons and, Chloe Smith live in the same hometown and went to the same high school. But, never traveled in the same friend circles. Like most college students, it's her first long holiday home. When her bestie calls and says, they are going to a background party, then she hangs up. Chloe is not happy but, gets ready. Right away, Fiona is on her way to mingle and, Chloe is just left standing so, she heads outside.
That's when she sits on a bench next to a guy working in a notebook. She recognizes him right away. Tim is the only guy in her class able to pull off being a jock and a nerd. When he looks at her she’s taken by how good-looking he is. It's a couple of years before they do get together as a couple. They have been living together for four years and have a daughter who is two. A month ago he came to her saying, he decided he had grown up, too fast. Wasn't ready to be one that fast and it's over between them. He then just walked away, carefree.
Chloe couldn't rest on the pain, she had a daughter to raise. She takes a proactive approach and talks to, Fiona about finding a computer programming job. Within four days she had an apartment and, a job. Thanks to, Fiona her best friend ever who is also, Skye’s Godmother and new caregiver. She was so excited. She hated having to leave her crying mother behind especially when she was begging her not to leave on account of a man-child. But, Chloe was ready to spread her wings and make her mark. Most of all giving, Tim the finger on the way.
She was so excited on the first day she was an hour early. HR loved that. By the third day, she had created a new app, that her lead boss wanted to take to the top within minutes of seeing it. So, with her and her laptop, she follows. She was so busy getting settled that she never took the time to take a look at who owned the company or how it started. Nothing. Totally unlike her. Being at, K-Synch is just a privilege. That she knows for sure, the employees seem happy and, content with working there.
So, imagine her surprise when her lead boss, Eric tries to introduce her to, Tim’s older brother. She had met him four years earlier, at a Christmas brunch. Neither, of them, expected to see him there. It was the first, and, the last time she saw him until that moment. She remembered trying so hard not to admire him too long, for his mature self-awareness. When they spoke, it felt like he was the only person in the world, who got her. She knew they enjoyed the same tech world, but didn't expect for him to be the owner, and founder of, K-Synch. “He's Kane Simmons–Tim's older brother and my daughter's uncle. And he's also my boss...talk about a plot twist.”
Yup, this is just the beginning of what is about to go down. Let's just say, she wasn't the only one at that, Christmas brunch finding it hard to keep his eyes to himself. The sparks in the office ignite and they try to stay professional. They indeed do. Until one kiss leads to the boss's jealousy, over her talking to other wealthy men. But, then it is a vulnerable uncle asking, to meet his niece. That's when the bachelor's heart cracks wide open to do anything to make them a family. That is until, his manipulative, spoiled, and ungrateful brother drops back into their lives.
Hold on the ride just got a whole lot bumpier and much wetter. With the tears for the poor baby girl who has him as a daddy. This is a very good story.

Ex's brother, forbidden romance
Chloe and Kane's story is funny and sweet with a slow-build romance, great chemistry between the characters, family drama, misunderstandings, humour and a HEA. Another brilliant story by Ivy Karr that you won't be able to put down once you've started.
Chloe had to leave her hometown with her daughter to start a new life away from her ex. She soon finds the perfect job and when she meets the CEO to present a project she's shocked that it's Kane, her ex's older brother. She'd always had a soft spot for him as he was the only one who really understood her but had only met him once before.
Kane was secretly pleased when his brother tells him he's split from Chloe and she's moved away. He'd always thought they'd marry as they have a daughter, and had stayed away from them since first meeting her as he'd always wanted her himself. His only problem, knowing that she's now free to see other men, is that he just has to find her first. When she's brought to his office a few days later as his new employee he agrees on her project, but insists she'll need to work closely with him on it. The way he enforces her moving to his floor is brilliant and really made me smile; and then the sparks start to fly.

OK. First off I want to say the title is misleading. I was expecting a guy next door troupe, but that was not what this was. It was by no means a bad read. Quite the opposite in fact. It was a really good read. The troupe of this is forbidden love, ex's brother romance, surprise baby, and stalker.
I enjoyed the story plot and it was entertaining and heartfelt. Reading the first time Kane meets his niece was so moving. I completely fell in love with him in that moment. Chloe's character was very independent and strong. She has a backbone like no other, standing up for herself at every turn. Her daughter is amazing and adorable.
I really loved the story and am interested to read some other of the authors works. I suggest this book for anyone who loves a good romance.

A beautifully written, sweet story that I could not put down, I was hooked from the first page.
Chloe a newly single mother moves to Austin and is interviewing for a job when the HR manager introduces her to the CEO Kane, they are shocked to find they know each other, he is her ex boyfriend Tim’s brother.
The book gives us the love story of Chloe and Kane the push and pull, the guilt, the joy, the hot, steamy sex and the wonderful happy ever after.

Chloe has learned the hard way there are reasons that tried and true suggestions for a relationship are best; love, marriage, THEN a baby carriage. After four years she accepted the fact her “boyfriend” knows that he isn’t father material. Chloe starts over with her daughter in another town. Life is good until a wrench, wrenches are thrown in the mix. Kane, her new boss, her ex’s brother is one of those wrenches that is her life, What to do as she and Kane find that life is determined to have fun at their expense. This is fast paced excellent read.

I love your work
This story tells of a young unhappy woman who has been made to feel that she was not expected to be loved by the farther of their baby as he had to find out what more in life than what he had and walked way from them both so she packed up all of her things and left the only home she had with her !other and start to build a new life and home for her and her baby,she takes a job only to find her boyfriend older brother ones the company for which she works for and feelings start to grow between them and love blooms and happiness.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm that loves to read

Love the writing style of this writer and well researched within the storyline plot.
I love the characters , witty, and the dynamic of the couple. I love Chloe I could relate to her as her being a single mother . The fact that she falls in love with her ex s brother … lol . Love the end but I won’t spoiled it for you a must read.

Sizzle and Steam is what you’re going to get when you read this book. This out of this world 🌎 and so wonderful I couldn’t stop. This sizzling HOT 🥵 book will heat up your day for sure. I have told my friends about this book and they are excited to read it when it releases.

"Next Door Billionaire's Surprise Baby: An Enemies to Lovers Boss Romance" by Ivy Karr was a great read. I loved Chloe and Kane's story. This story had romance, passion, enemies to lovers, billionaires, boss and employee romance, a surprise baby, drama, twists, second chances, and more. Highly recommend it to all fans of romance, billionaires, surprise baby, and enemies to lovers.

A truly great story of love, pain, hardships, misunderstanding, and steam. Ivy weaves all this into a fast paced tale that will keep you reading and hoping that everything will work out. I love a great HEA and Chloe and Kane deserve that.

I do wish we saw more of the mom said of Chloe, I kept wondering where her child was.

Wanted more
I was loving the slow build of the relationship but I was disappointed when things sped up and details I wanted were glossed over. I really wanted more drama with the ex/brother.

This page turner is an emotional yet very entertaining read. Kane and Chloe are beautiful characters with great chemistry and some issues to overcome. It was a captivating story and I highly recommend reading it. I look forward to reading more from the author.
