In Hollister, South Dakota, where the vast ranching terrain meets the sky, Tegan Wells loves his job as the manager of the town's bustling stockyard. His life, rooted in the rhythms of this small town, is about to be upended by the return of Dr. Kate Johnson, an Army veterinarian who left Hollister for the far-flung corners of the world.
Returning to Hollister, there is heartache.
Kate, leaving the Army and the profession she loves, returns to Hollister with a heart heavy with loss. Her new assignment is to mend the broken pieces of her family, reeling from the tragic loss of her sister-in-law. A friend at the Atlanta USO gives her the advice she needs as she steps into the role of a surrogate mother for her niece and nephew. Kate finds the familiar faces and people of Hollister both comforting and filled with echoes of her past.
Life in Hollister is so much more than expected.
Tegan and Kate's paths cross, reigniting a spark that had lain dormant since their high school days. Romance blossoms in the most unexpected of places. But not all is calm in Hollister. A series of unexplained events at the stockyard casts a shadow over the town. Missing livestock, mysterious footprints, and whispered suspicions begin to disturb the peace and threaten to unravel the fabric of this close-knit community.
In this tale of love, loss, and suspense, Tegan and Kate’s story captures small-town life, the strength of coming home, and the power of a love that can weather any storm.
USA Today and Amazon Bestselling Author, Kris Michaels is the alter ego of a happily married wife and mother. She writes romance, usually with characters from military and law enforcement backgrounds.
Kris was born and raised in South Dakota. She graduated many years ago from a high school class consisting of 13 students (yes that is thirteen, eleven girls and two boys...lucky boys). She joined the military, met her husband, and traveled the world. Today she lives on the Gulf Coast and writes full time.
Kris is an avid people watcher and dreamer. The stories she writes are crafted around the hopes and dreams of a true romantic. She believes love is essential, people are beautiful, and everyone deserves a happy ending.
When she isn't writing Kris enjoys a full life revolving around family, friends, laughing, whiskey, and cold red wine. (Yes cold...don't judge.)
Kate has taken terminal leave from the Army and is headed home to Hollister to help her brother and his family after her brother lost his wife a year earlier😢 Kate hopes to bump into Blessing especially after having met her a year earlier, which she does when she gets to the USO.
Tegan is a bit of a loner but a hard worker. He works for senior at the stockyard and has accumulated a family of unwanted animals….I especially love Doodle😊
Kate arrives home and rekindles her relationship with Tegan and gets to know the town and the new people that are living there❣️Unfortunately, a string of incidents have the town of Hollister on alert and feeling uneasy, but not to worry Ken is on the job and always ready to keep his town safe.
I’m looking forward to Barry’s story next in the Hollister series but also more of the stories in this series too, now that I’m almost caught up😁
I adore all Kris Michaels books but oh my, this one tugs at my heart strings. A cinnamon roll hero who loves animals and a second chance with the woman that no other woman has measured up to. Run, don't walk to read this one. It's a feel good story with Kris' wonderful brand of suspense.
So, so intriguing, I didn't put it down until the end, and now I NEED to read Barry's journey. Quite the mystery going on here and I absolutely adored Kate staying in touch with Blessing. Those having "the sight" are not to be taken lightly. Tegan is a dream and so good to, and for, Kate and vice versa. A couple who just fit perfectly in all ways, I can happy sigh for this happy couple. Now for the backstory, there's a sh**storm brewing around Hollister. We don't know who's being targeted or why exactly, but it's huge and I cannot wait to read more. Great writing, fast-paced, characters are well fleshed out and of course with all the cameo appearances of the Hollister group to make it even better. A stand alone as the mains get their happy on, but there's much more going on in this supposed sleepy little town of South Dakota. BTW I do know how to pronounce Belle Fourche (SD) a real town LoL It is pure goodness to get so into a story before realizing I was reading the Epilogue.
What an amazing crossover - both The Long Road Home and Hollister in one fantastic book! Kate and Tegan are some of the nicest characters - not that the other Hollister residents aren't nice, but there are a lot of shadows and secrets in many of their lives. Kate and Tegan are like a shot of sunshine into the town, they give so much, ask for very little in return and have waited twelve years to make it back to each other.....swoon. So sweet, there is no blame, no resentment, no little digs, just a genuine appreciation that their patience has paid off and it is finally their time. I loved catching up with Kate's niece and nephew after their tractor escapade in Ken and Sam's book, they are in a much better place by the end of this book, which is heartwarming, and we get teasers into the next Hollister book too....dark and dangerous, packed with demons but also lots of love Hollister style.
No plot spoilers No potential triggers The characterisation is absolutely perfect, I loved Tegan and adored Kate. One of the best things about Kris Michaels female leads, they are strong women. No whining or tripping over leaves. The plotline is engaging, and I loved learning more about Blessing. It sets the scene for Barry's book, and reading this book shows how far Barry has come. There is a little swearing and some sex scenes. If you are a fan of romance the light thriller then I believe you would probably enjoy the book. However, I do think that reading the series from the beginning would provide the best reading experience. Plus, it's Kris Michaels, I have no problem recommending any of her books!
Wow! Another Long Road Home series is always a treat plus we’re back in Hollister amongst old friends. This book is sheer joy with the wonderful Blessing making several appearances plus Edna! Well I never did! I don’t think Kris Michaels is capable of writing a boring story, her characters are beautifully developed and she takes us right with her into the worlds of Tegan and Kate. I loved how theirs was a second chance love but with no messing about, they knew they still felt the same even after 12 years . And talk about breadcrumbs! Barry , you poor thing Kris has left us all hanging! Did I mention I absolutely loved this book? Highly recommended, don’t delay!!
Kris Michaels has a knack for creating such wonderful couples. They compliment one another in so many ways that they fit together like puzzle pieces. Or, they're such complete opposites you wonder how they will ever really become a pair yet their differences fill in each other's gaps. Case in point; Kate Johnson and Tegan Wells. They may have been apart for twelve years but the time evaporated the first time he held her in his arms again. Timing is everything and their time is now. Ms. Michaels delves a little more into the mysterious Blessing and how much influence she has in the lives of her USO charges. I loved this book. It just plain made me feel good.
After12 years apart Tegan and Kate have rekindled their high school romance, when she comes home from the Army, freaking things are happening around Holister but who's to blame, Edna would have you believing it was Bigfoot, LOL, the mystery intensify's with random acts of violence and death, clues only a few people have knowledge, getting a glimpse into Barry's life, I have waited for this new chapter/beginning of the next series of the Long Road Home, and you Kris Michaels have started us off with quite the bang, exceeds expectations my imagination had, so I thank you again for a brilliant story from your brilliant mind, thank you, Dana Zamora
Another resident returns to Hollister and is surprised to see how the town has grown. Kate Johnson has trained as a veterinarian and served in the Army as a vet for War dogs. She is finished with service and is going home to be with her family. Her brother has lost his wife and his way. His two children need someone to help right their ship. Kate also finds that her fondest memory, the boy she left behind, is still in Hollister and they rekindle their relationship quickly. Unfortunately, there is a vague threat and Kate, Tegan, Barry, and a few others seem to be in the crosshairs.
I love reading the Binge read babes, they all have such defined ideas but dear old Blessing is in there advising what to do, and they all end up doing what she says and getting a Happy Ever After. I enjoyed Kris's book, it was a really good read, a little bit of excitement and drama but in all it left us with a who dun it vibe which is not what we usually get with these books. Now I'm going to have to get the next book to read what gives??? All up. A really good story line, most enjoyable. Will definitely get more from this Author
Wow... I loved Tegan and Kate second chance to rekindle their love twelve years later!! Unable to withdraw from her commitment to the military, Kate left Hollister to find her way in the world.... Determined to carry on with his life in Hollister, Tegan has a soft heart for wounded or abused animals! A second chance to try and make their love work brings danger into Hollister... but who is the target? Brilliant storyline with wonderful characters and absolutely loved the HEA. Looking forward to Barry's story next..
The mmc putting his life at risk for a random horse was a little too much for me, especially when he was planning to marry the love of his life. Yes, he's a vet. Does that mean that he should sacrifice his life anytime any animal could possibly be hurt or in danger. Yeah, no!
The drama/danger ended with no real closure, just more questions. (Yes, I do get that the answers should be found in the Hollister series that is related to this series.) Some parts of the story just didn't quite flow smoothly like many of the authors other books.
I do love the town, Blessing and Edna.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Tegan gad his share of abuse from his mother. It made him who he is. But Kate saw through that and saw him for who he is. 12 years separated the two while Kate served in the army. Lawrence, Kate’s brother, losing his wife brought her home. To care for the family and help him. Suspense, destruction, killing animals, breaking into Tegan’s house, hurting Kate and other strange happenings are a mystery. Who would be after Andrew or Barry in connection with the service brother’s? Kate and Andrew take Blessings advice to heart. But, what us going on. A Cliff hanger. Read on
The town is Hollister, South Dakota and Tegan Wells is a rancher that has lived their but the love of his life left him twelve years ago to join the military. Dr. Kate Johnson is coming back to help her brother and his kids after her sister in law dies. She is a vet and out of the army. She is still in love with Tegan after all the years hoping to start her own vet clinic for small animals and get back with Regan but there is accidents going on but who are they trying to get to
Tegan and Kate get a second chance and pick up where they left twelve years ago.
Can the fire and feelings be just as strong after not seeing each other for twelve years? Kate and Tegan get a chance to find out but is someone trying to keep them apart or is something else going on? This is a great second chance with a bit of who done it going on. But will they find who is causing trouble?
Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Kris. Gotta love visiting Hollister where there is never a dull moment. This story is about Teagan and Kate. Loved seeing Blessing throughout this story. Kate's life is finally happy with Teagan and she is finally home. Too bad we don't get to know who the bad guy is but I can't wait for Barry's story! FANTASTIC job Kris! I would recommend this book!
Finally Home was an outstanding story. I love the fact that Kate and Blessing have a bond. Kris Michaels has done it again, she pulls you in and makes you feel like you are sitting right at the counter in the diner. Tegan and Kate's love held on and after12 years passing they were able to find their way back to each other. The best part is you never miss anything going on in Hollister because everyone is included in other books. This is a fantastic series
This book is about Tegan and Kate second chance. He had stayed in Hollister while she had left for college and the the military. Now she is back to help her brother. But finding out that the one you left is still free puts a new spin on her homecoming. To add a bit of drama, there is unknown people out to cause tension in this small town. The drama continues in another thread but this can be read as a standalone romance.
A sweet romance, twelve years in the making with a lot of action and suspense. This HEA was so satisfying, two people who have loved each other forever but life and circumstances kept them apart. Once they found each other again nothing stood in their way and it was so satisfying that they didn’t let anything stand in their way.
A wonderful story of two people finding themselves after 12 years. While reading MS Michaels stories you can expect to be drawn in. Her characters bring life to her stories. Again Miss Blessing keeps me coming back. This series has several authors I had to have each story just to see what she was up to.
I love this series. When I go to Hollister it feels like returning home to catch up with old friends. This book focuses on Teagan and Kate but we catch up with everyone. I love that we find out so much more about Teagan but for me I especially love finding more about Edna and what makes her tick. This book has left me with questions and I can’t wait to get the answers. Roll on the next book.
One of my favorite Hollister books from the ever-amazing Kris Michaels. It had everything, including a female Army veteran! The townsfolk still make this a place I want to live and I'm so glad we got to revisit them. And, what is this black cloud moving into Hollister? I guess we'll have to read the next few books to find out!
What a great book. I so enjoyed reading Tegan and Kate’s story. It had all the elements of a perfect romantic suspense book - love story, heat pounding moments of danger for both MCs and a solid who dunnit. This one is another solid addition to the Coming Home series. Oh! And we get lots more of Blessing in this one and I loved it!
A smooth story. There is another chance for love for two deserving people. I enjoy characters from Hollister interacting with Kate. There is a satisfying ending to the romance but there is a cliffhanger as to the culprit behind the nefarious events plaguing them. Barry’s story is the book that sums up what and who is behind the sabotage and attacks.
Finally Home: Kate at been away for 12 years but was last of for sister-in-law law's funeral. She hadn't seen Teagan for 12 years. He is the love of her life. Her nephew was the one that reach out to about his father. Kate was worried about him. She retired and came home to help. It was a wonderful story! It had lots of surprises.
I love this series! Kris Michaels is an amazing storyteller! She never disappoints! I love Blessed, Hollister, the people, the drama, trauma, romance, humor, but above all, the way the community takes care of their own!
Love the long road home series. Edna is such a trip. The town of Hollister is its own character in the story. Absolutely loved Teagan and Kate they are perfect together. kris never disappoints…can’t wait for Barry
I love Blessings part in this story. Love her WooWoo. Teagan and Kate and great couple and love Hollister families . Love the characters what a great place to live.
Kate and Tegan’s story was fantastic. There is just the right amount of suspense mixed in with rekindling of their love and snippets from Blessing. Am now anxiously awaiting for Barry’s story . Kris never lets me down
