Kitty has woven a masterpiece once again. She ending the series with a bang! Next to V, Astrid is my all time favorite FMC in this series I just fucking love her so much! Let me say I am one of the few who absolutely detested Strauss nothing could make me love him, and for that I side purely with my girl Dilan. Her sentiments hit me hard, but despite all that I wanted Astrid to get what she wanted and be happy given her entire life was full of sadness, pain, and coping, so I agree to disagree on my feelings for him.

Kitty gives us spice like no other, plot, secrets, and even dare I say it closure. Pieces of me that were broken in other books came back together and mended which I did not think possible. I honestly don’t think there could be a better finale. We get these Kill Bill-esque cinematic moments that leave you reeling. One-liners and poetic monologues that have you laughing, gasping or even (for some) swooning.

ℐ 𝒸𝒶𝓃'𝓉 𝓇ℯ𝓂ℯ𝓂𝒷ℯ𝓇 𝓉𝒽ℯ 𝓁𝒶𝒶𝓉 𝓉𝒾𝓂ℯ ℐ 𝒻ℯ𝓁𝓉 𝓰𝓸𝓸𝓭. 𝒜𝓁𝓁 ℐ 𝓉𝓇𝓎 𝓉ℴ 𝒹ℴ 𝒾𝓈 𝓀ℯℯ𝓅 𝓉𝒽ℯ 𝓻𝓪𝓰𝓮 𝒻𝓇ℴ𝓂 𝓇ℯ𝓉𝓊𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃ℊ.

It is simply top-tier in every way. It checks every box and Kitty pulls emotions from you. This world is so real and vivid, the characters live rent free in my head. I want to champion them, fight them, cry with them, and love them forever. Saying goodbye to this world is so so hard, but Kitty made it bearable by giving us a bow on the end of a chaotically poignant and beautiful tale filled with fire, terror, mayhem and love.

I’m forever grateful that I get to bless my eyes with her words. Gnarled Pine Hollow is going to forever be a place I revisit and this series will hold a piece of my heart.

This is an erotic thriller and is extremely DARK. This is NOT a traditional romance. The content, both on and off page, will NOT be suitable for everyone. It covers topics that may be triggering. You MUST proceed with caution; your mental health matters.

Hot damn, Kitty does it again. What an absolute powerhouse of a book and in true Kitty style, it started and ended with a tremendous BANG!

I’m devastated this is the final book of the series, as it really is goodbye. The end of an amazing era. I’m not sure I’m ready to let go just yet though, writing my review has brought everything to the surface and I’ve fallen hard again. A reread of the entire series is definitely on the cards, and soon.

My love for BA knows no bounds and has always been my top love of Kitty’s; but this book right here, this is something else. This book has rightfully taken its place next to BA and will forever stay there. These books are so far apart, complete opposite ends of the spectrum but I adore them both.

BA, RV and SS have slowly prepared you for what is the culmination of Gnarled Pine Hollow. This is the answer to all your questions; the conclusion of all conclusions.

I should be prepared for the onslaught of emotional turmoil that comes with every Kitty book, but I never am. This entire read was full of walking, talking red flags (*cough* Strauss) so I should have guarded my mind and soul from the heartache that was inevitably coming my way. The tears I’ve shed for this book 😭 Kitty has this way of ripping your heart out of your chest but lovingly caring for it whilst you fix yourself back up. The feels were mega intense but I bloody loved it.

I’ve said this every step of the way and I’m going to say it again just for good measure, Gnarled Pine Hollow is another level. Kitty has created something so special, nothing can compete with it. I declared my love as an obsession in book three, this has now stepped up and become my absolute everything during book four.

As is standard with Kitty’s books; it was the perfect spice to plot ratio, the plot was brilliantly structured and captivated you from the very beginning. I mean this when I say it, Kitty does not hold back in this book. You’re thrown into the dark, depraved deep end from the start. There is no foreplay, it’s all in; go big or go home. The character growth and development was incredible. Kitty writes the best damn characters, I love them all. Even her side characters are given the same level of detail.

Strauss is a villain… a morally black villain. He is a monster of epic proportions. But I fell for him. I fell so damn hard. He is the bull, causing chaos and carnage on his journey for revenge.
Astrid is the light in the destructive darkness surrounding Strauss, with an angelic demeanour. She is nothing like you would expect. She is up there with Livia for me, I love her! One of my favourite FMC’s.

This is hands down, my favourite series EVER.

I’m shocked by the fact that this author is a psychologist. Instead of that, she should be the patient because this woman is crazy for writing the books she does, for real.

And, honestly, I’m also crazy for liking her filthy stories, sorry. But she knows how to write a well-done dark romance. Are they heavy and disgusting? Yes! Do the characters have completely wrong attitudes? Yes, also. But she knows what she’s writing, she knows.

The first chapter of this filth is already a HUGE shock. The scene is of the protagonist having sex, and the woman he’s with dies because someone shows up during the act and kills her. At the end of the chapter, it’s revealed that the dead woman is the PROTAGONIST’S MOTHER, and the one who killed her was his father—not because she was cheating on him with their own son, but because of his pregnant mistress. Gross, gross, gross.

I thought about quitting at that point, but I’d already read worse, so I kept going.

The story and universe are interesting, I admit. It felt like a dark romance version of *Game of Thrones* in modern times.

Another point: this is a harem. Not reverse, but where the guy has the attention of the women, and he’s got at least six of them. And honestly, that didn’t bother me. I thought it was kind of crazy; I’d never read anything like that, but I liked the drama. Of course, if he had ended up with all those women in the end, I would have trashed the book, but I was happy when, with the arrival of the protagonist, he only had eyes for her.

Speaking of the protagonists as a couple… their relationship started in the worst possible way, and I’m not going to sugarcoat it: there was abuse. He saw her as just a womb because if he got her pregnant, he’d get revenge on some people. But that only happened once. Still, it was completely disgusting and wrong. And while I was reading and learning more about the male character and his true feelings and thoughts, I realized that he’s just a platinum blonde with a sad past, who was abused by his own mother and developed traumas he didn’t want to recognize. (Not that this justifies anything, never! What I mean is that I understood what the author was trying to do with this character. It’s even kind of complex. And she gets it, since she’s a psychologist.)

As for the protagonist, she surprised me. She seemed to be just an 18-year-old naive girl who knew nothing, but she had secrets that were only revealed halfway through the book, in a scene that left me 😱. It was kind of crazy. But she slayed.

And well…😮‍💨 I admit, unfortunately, I’ve completely lost my moral high ground saying this, but their relationship became something cute. They had good development.

I’m happy about the news of a second generation; I think it’ll be something surprising and, maybe, “innovative.”

Well, I am a cluster of mixed emotions after reading the epic conclusion of The Compass Series by Kitty King. Anorthic Anarchy is brilliant and I will never get over it. Seriously, NEVER. I have said the same statement after each book in this series because each one is its own masterpiece.
Anorthic Anarchy gives us so much original plot, the most erotic, painful, passionate intimacy and characters you love to hate and hate to love. Each and every character in this book and throughout the entire series will perpetually live in my heart and soul.
I cannot express enough about the agonizing heart gripping emotion felt throughout this book. I’m fighting tears writing this. So powerful and beautifully written the range of feelings is immeasurable. Our most dark depraved villain is all that and so much more. Strauss rears, his ugly head in the most villainous of ways yet, as only Kitty King can do, the villain evolves and somehow steals your affection. Also true to Kitty fashion nothing is as it seems. Astrid has so many complex sides and as our story unfolds the unexpected twists smack you multiple times in the face. Morals thrown in with the dumpster fire of emotions.
I will not give one bit of the story away as it must be enjoyed from the perilous start to the heart exploding ending. I do recommend you check the trigger warnings. They are in place to ensure that this book and series is right for you.
Continuously astounded by the creative talent of Kitty King, I can say without hesitation, The Compass Series is a must read. It will be hard to find another complete cast of characters with as much charm, charisma, tenacity, and passion as you will find in each and everyone encountered in Gnarled Pines. You will not find a more complex, emotionally charged, unique story. From book one to four you will be thoroughly consumed.

“𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹… 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗲. 𝗧𝗿𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲.”

Anorthic Anarchy is the fourth and final book in The Compass Series and delivers an emotional and explosive finale. Every single book in this series has been a 5 star read for me and every time I finish each book, I think it’s my absolute favorite of the series. I fell so hard for Strauss even though he was such a beautifully brutal walking red flag. Astrid is by far my favorite FMC of the entire series! She’s the light to his darkness, but she also has her own darkness and is such a badass. I’m so sad this series is over, but it ended perfectly. 5⭐️

Must read other books before you can read this one!

Oh my! My emotions were in a roller coaster with this one! At first I didn’t like Strauss but then I loved him. He is just misunderstood and doesn’t realize what he really needs, which is Astrid.
Astrid is trying to find her brother and trying to survive. She is has to marry Strauss and isn’t happy about it, and she realizes all the women in his house are out to get her and she doesn’t have anyone on her side as she figures everything out. Astrid is a strong woman and Strauss is waiting for her to remember who she is.
Oh and the ending will have you hooked.
Man I really loved this book and the series, can’t believe it has come to an end.

Just because someone does something noble doesn't mean they can't do terrible things, too. People aren't black and white. Good and evil. Villains or heroes. You can be both all at once.

Genre: DARK not-quite romance / erotic thriller.
Tropes: Age gap, forced marriage (purchased teen bride), secret society, traditional harem, pitch black MMC, trauma, graphic murder & torture.
Kinks: Degradation, dub-con/non-con, primal, BDSM, breeding.
Trigger warnings: YES - all of them!

"You thought you were a precious angel… But I knew your secret. You're my angel of death."

~ arc review ~
I seriously don't know how Kitty did it, but she made me fall for the ruthless, unredeemable villain…
Through the whole journey of this series I knew Strauss would get his story, but I couldn't for the life of me imagine how it would come about and how it could possible make up for the hurt of the past books. Somehow, though, his story was everything and more!

"Bad girls get spanked, but you were so obedient just now. And good girls… They get big dicks and orgasms."

It's not a romance. It's extremely dark and depraved, filled with horror, mystery, betrayal and SO. MUCH. SPICE!
This is for those rooting for the villains, willing to burn the world down. Strauss is a monster, but he is also so much more, and wow did I not expect it.

There were so many twists, so much unexpected thrown in, and I was constantly kept on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen. Strauss really had my heart in a tight-grip by the end and his story both completely shattered me and put all the hurt and turmoil together again.
Astrid was the perfect match for him. She had a lot of growth and is just a total badass. The way she really helped Strauss become so much more than probably even he expected as well was a nice and surprising progression.

"Take control, little girl. Use me. Use my face. My fingers. My tongue… It's all for your pleasure."

This story was wild, crazy, and an epic rollercoaster; of emotions, secrets, spice and a lot of total F-up ness that somehow all fit together. I couldn't help but shed a tear (or several) while also blushing furiously and wanting to throw my kindle at a wall with the anguish…

The whole Compass series is a wild journey of secret society, criminal activity, hidden agendas, secrets, betrayals and some very serious spice while also giving so many interesting and very complex characters.
I really don't know how each book and each character topped the last but they did, and it's a true testament to the talent that this writer has. And the way it all came together and the slow enrolment of the full picture was truly epic.

Headline: This is the tale of the bull and his angle.

Since late 2023, Kitty King has been teasing me about this series. Kitty promised a thrill and a thrill is what we got. In book 4 (the conclusion) of the Compass Series, Anorthic Anarchy, we learn more about Strauss and officially meet Astrid.

You’re introduced to Strauss in Beastly Armory, but this isn’t the Strauss you get to know in AA. This is one of those, you-think-you-know-but-you-have-no-idea scenarios. Strauss [Kitty, but Strauss] spoke to me directly when speaking to Astrid. It was code to get me immersed in the story. I was in the room, the cell, the bath rub, on the cross… I was just there. This entire series wasn’t just a read; you’re immersed and you’re there with them. After I turned the final page, I was left not only loving all of these characters all over again, but also, empathizing with the “villain.” And trust me, this isn’t your “typical” villain-gets-the-girl story… it’s better.

🔪 Strauss & Astrid: I love them, I love them, [screams in Oprah] IIIIIIIII love them. They made me laugh, feel anger, fear, and cry. My feminism wasn’t really feminis…ming or whatever. But seriously, WHATEVER. I can’t share more without spoiling it, but these two are giving stabby/gore, love/hate, and will she/will he vibes throughout. The stuff of great love stories. 😉

☕️  Café Crema was my companion during this entire series. My favorite coffee had to be consumed as Kitty twisted, nurtured, shoved my face in some things, and even punched me hard at times. So CC helped me through. You can find it on the Zon.

🎹 Their Dynamic (on and off): Kill Me Slowly (Sickick), Blood on Your Hands (Veda & Adam Arcadia); Plot Tone: 365 (Charlie xcx), Play With Fire (Sam Tinnesz).

🗓️ What’s Next? While this series has now been concluded, King will continue with a Next Gen series that will bring together the Compass and Color Series worlds. And if you’ve read the others, you know you’ll get a mixture of kink, gore, the bad maybe-evil MMC, not demure, but very mindful storytelling. I’m on board the train, both “that one” 😉 and this one.

“Just because someone does something noble doesn’t mean they can’t do terrible things, too. People aren’t black and white. Good and evil. Villains or heroes. You can be both all at once.”

HOLY CRAP!! What a way to end this incredible series!

The insane way the story starts had my jaw dropping and my stomach in knots. The imagery and world building pulled me into this dark dystopian world filled with violence, corruption and the worst kind of vile wickedness. It is an extremely dark, brutal, horrific, violent, and bloody erotic horror story that will twist your mind and keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through.

Astrid is an incredibly strong young woman. To grow up the way she did and then to be sold to an evil man, brought to him in a crate and then caged, just broke my heart for her. But Astrid has this light inside her that is hard to snuff out. There is something about her that Strauss can’t stay away from.

It was very hard to like Strauss at any given point. He’s hard to love with what he does, how he behaves, and how he conducts himself. He’s a dangerous, violent and possessive man hidden in one hell of a sexy package. Strauss personifies the term morally black villain to a T. He’s a deliciously sexy monster that will pull you in and have you craving his darkness.

The banter is rife with extreme emotional turmoil, hatred, passion and pain, but there are some laughable moments and sweet moments that may trick you into thinking things are getting better. But I don’t get comfortable yet.

The smuttiness contained within the pages of Anorthic Anarchy are incredibly smutty, deliciously kinky and downright perverse. And I was 100% into it.

Astrid and Strauss together are something else, toxic to the extreme, violent in their lovemaking, and passionate in their feelings for one another. They are definitely a force to be reckoned with when working together.

Brilliantly written conclusion with epic plot twist after plot twist, adrenaline inducing moments, WTF moments, body melting moments and with an ending that was EVERYTHING and so much more.

Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️

What a brilliant end to an amazing series!!! I am in awe of Kitty’s ability to write a story that I can get so lost in and where I can actually see every little detail play out like a movie. I’ve never been disappointed by anything she writes and her books just keep getting better and better, she’s one of my auto-buy authors. The plot was fantastic, flowed seamlessly, had twists I wasn’t expecting, the spice was spicing, and the book starts off with a bang. Seriously the first chapter had me asking WTF?!?!?

I have loved every book in this series and every character right from the start, ok maybe I didn’t love Strauss from the start. Ok honestly I can’t say I fell in love with Strauss until like 3/4 of the way through this book. I literally despised him in the first three book and for most of the last book. Strauss has a traumatic past, he’s got issues that made him who he is, and reasons why he did things he did and the way the dynamic between him and Astrid change through the book was brilliantly written. It takes a lot to create a hated, even a despised character, and have most of us all change our minds and fall for him in the end. Well done Kitty, well done.

Strauss only wants Astrid for his own revenge, he forces Astrid to marry him, steels her innocence, and breaks her and in doing so he created my favourite FMC of the entire series. At first Astrid comes off as this little innocent girl but once that bass ass bitch flag flies our girl gives off Kill Bill vibes and I couldn’t get enough of her.

I’m so sad for the end of this series and I’m really gonna miss Gnarled Pines and the families. However I definitely got closure and I feel everything happened the way it had too.

This cannot be read as a standalone you must read this series in order.

What an ending. Round of applause, standing ovation. All the stars and the peppers and everything good for Kitty King with this one. I love that I can get lost in her writing and absolutely devour a story within the course of several hours. The Compass Series gets better and better with each book you read and this whole world that Kitty has created is just wild, but incredible.

The way my jaw dropped from the beginning. Our man Strauss.. not sure how I felt about him from the other 3 books, but immediately, we know this guy has mommy issues. I was shook. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to hold him or have him committed. I fully went into this expecting him to be completely awful and unredeemable… and he didn’t let me down, I will give him that.

But eventually, the behaviors make sense. The thoughts, the actions, the revenge and plotting that’s gone into it.. It eventually makes sense. And in all of that, he gave us my favorite FMC of the series. Astrid is newly 18, literally a child bride, but good God, does she take it all and then give it back MORE than ten fold. I constantly forgot that she WAS so young the more the story went on.

As always, Kitty brings the emotions with this one. And somehow, by the end of it all, this irredeemable, awful man stole my heart a lil bit? This was unlike anything I’ve read or probably ever will read again. I loved this book, probably now my top Kitty King book and can’t wait to reread the series knowing what I know now. And while I’m sad to be saying good bye to Gnarled Pine, I’m looking forward to seeing some of my favorites from GPH making their appearances in other books!

This final book in the Compass Series doesn’t just cross lines — it erases them.

At the center of the story is Astrid Barrington, the last heir to a disgraced bloodline, abducted days before her 18th birthday by Vicenzo Strauss, the new Consort of Gnarled Pine Hollow. Astrid’s fate? To be branded, caged, and married — all for the purpose of giving birth to Vicenzo’s heir and merging their bloodlines.

But this isn’t just about physical captivity — it’s about mental domination. Vicenzo is no simple villain. He’s a calculated, deeply damaged predator shaped by a lifetime of abuse and incest, a son who was in bed with his mother when she was shot by his father. That trauma calcified into obsession. Now, he runs House Strauss like a sadistic empire of power, pain, and sexual control.

Astrid, locked away in his dungeon, is subjected to a week of psychological warfare before their scheduled wedding. He doesn’t rape her — not until she’s “of age” — but he does everything short of it. She’s branded like cattle, renamed “Angel,” and surrounded by a hierarchy of enslaved women who exist to serve Vicenzo’s every twisted desire.

What starts as a story of resistance slowly transforms into a horrifying emotional enmeshment. Astrid begins to crave his approval, not out of love but survival.

This is not a love story. This is a tragedy. A beautifully written, deeply disturbing, unforgettable tragedy.

If you’re looking for a romance with a redeemable anti-hero, this isn’t it. But if you’re brave enough to walk into the dark — knowing you won’t come out clean — Anorthic Anarchy delivers a finale that is both the series’ deepest cut and its sharpest blade.

Kitty King concludes the riveting Compass Series with Anorthic Anarchy, a novel that takes its readers on a tumultous journey into the depths of power and revenge. The setting of Gnarled Pine Hollow returns as the epicenter of conflict, where Strauss, the series' enigmatic antihero, wields his influence over the last of the Barringtons- key players in the ongoing battle against a malevolent force threatening the ruling families.

This installment introduces a dramatic twist with the addition of a must younger character to Strauss's harem, igniting unexpected developments in his meticulously laid plans. As Strauss corrupts her innocence, transforming it into a weapon against his adversaries, the narrative delves into dark themes of manipulation and high stakes of vengeance. The age gap and the complex dynamics within the harem, especially focusing on the main MF relationship, add layers of intensity and controveresy to the tale.

Kitty's narrative prowess shines as she once again crafts a story that is far from a traditional romance. It is a raw, compelling exploration of power dynamics and personal transformation. Astrid, the newest addtion, emerges as a fromindable character whose resilience and complexity captivate the reader.

The emotional rollercoaster has left it's mark, evoking tears, smiles, anger, and ultimately, satisfaction. As the chapter on this generation of Gnarled Pine Hollow closes, you may find yourself both heartbroken and fulfilled, making it difficult to part with this world.

Kitty King has indeed ended the series with a bang. For those who have journeyed through all four books, this finale is both a grand farewell and a testament to Kitty's ability to weave complex narratives that last forever.

What an incredible conclusion. The Villain of this entire series absolutely Villained in this book 👌 He was an absolute MONSTER.. and I fell madly in love with him. When they say opposites attract, this book isn't an exception.. where Strauss is black hearted and brutal to his core.. Astrid is a light, an angel.. her love of books and knowledge had you falling for her character as well because her innocence was so enduring; how could you not? This book read with a romantic lense for me in the sense that it felt like poetry; insane, manic and chaotic poetry. Even with all gore and violence and horror, the author had me mesmerized and ignoring ALL the redflags (believe me, theres a ton). It was like when a vampire uses convulsion and completely bewitches their pray (I know what you are now Kitty… VAMPIRE). Many people won't like this story because of the plot and tws.. but if you're able to separate reality and fiction and see what an absolute work of art this INSANE story is.. I have a feeling you'll be team Strauss too.. even though he's a vile, disgusting, gorgeous, misunderstood, romantic(?) man.. and we can't forget the entire plot of this story (the mafia world). This mind blowing conclusion had me crying at the end because it was fantastic and not what I expected and I mean that in the best way. In true Kitty King fashion, this one will leave you satisfied but eager for more books by her.

Happy to be a Reamer because I got this super early!! 🙌🫶

This whole series has been a whirlwind of emotions. I think the 3rd and this one were the most emotional out of the series for me. I will miss the Gnarled Pine characters, but Kitty has promised they will make appearances in new books she is working on.
I have never hated a character as much as I hated the MMC. Then Kitty did the impossible and made me fall in love with him. He has very questionable morals. I mean in the beginning he was one of the most pitch black MMC I have read in a while. He does change and grow in some huge ways. He also has his own tragic story and past, which impacts who he is. The FMC, Astrid transforms in big ways in this story. She is one of my favorite FMC’s I have read in quite a while. I loved her fire. I loved the plot and story of the Compass Series. So many twists and turns and betrayals. You have some really hot spice and some trauma and secret societies. This series has something for everyone. They do get darker as they go, so prepare and read your Trigger Warnings if you have sensitivities. This series was not like anything I have read before and the characters were all so interesting. Strauss may be one of my favorite characters followed by my men of Southpaw Slots. Astrid is a total bad ass. There was some torture parts that had my jaw dropping. I just loved this book and this series. I loved the ending and shed several tears throughout this book. Not all Villains choose to be villains, some are made.

"Excuse meeeee. HIS WHAT?!?"
"Dilan, you are giving some Regina George energy. Let's tone that down "
"If Kitty books have taught me anything, it's TRUST NO ONE."
"All I can hear in my head is the Usher "U got it bad" song for the end of Chapter 11 🤣"
"Team BOTH" 🤤
"Unapologetically unhinged" 👑
One of my favorite Kitty lines ever!!!!!!
"Damn you Vincente Strauss"

The cherry on top of easily one of my favorite series ever. If I had to describe AA in one statement, that would be it.
I have had the privilege of ARC reading the Compass series from the beginning, and admittedly, I struggled to "trust the process" when it came to Strauss.
So when it was time for his story in the final book, I had no doubt the writing would be incredible, but I didn't think it could heal the gaping hole Southpaw Slots left in my heart. Wow, was I wrong.

Strauss is truly a character who will keep you on your toes. Expect the unexpected, pay attention to the little details, and know that his character is a true testament to the genius of Kitty King.

Arianna is my favorite FMC Kitty has ever written, and that is all I will say. Otherwise, I'll say too much. I would Freaky Friday swap with her any day of the week.

Anorthic Anarchy is not for the faint of heart, so be ready to feel a full range of emotions. And when you do find the strength after it's over, please pop in my DMs so we can grieve the end together.

For the last time - Welcome back to Gnarled Pine Hollow…

🔥The final book of The Compass Series is here! What a wild ride!!! This series blew me away - from the characters to the world building to the overall plot I was completely hooked on these books!

⚠️First things first - the TW list is extensive and this is not a romance (or at least NOT a traditional romance) - proceed with caution.

There is a ton of spice - super steamy smutty smut morally black goodness. And gore and trauma and violence and piles and piles of red flags.

This book opens on a jaw dropping moment and never slows down! Strauss…was complicated for me in that I hated him for a while…but as I read this story I felt like I understood him a little better…no spoilers but he won me over!

Astrid is by far one of my favorite FMCs - she is a complete and total badass. She is strong emotionally and physically and I am basically obsessed with her.

This was truly an amazing conclusion - and also more emotional than I would have expected. I found myself completely invested in these characters and this story. I am sad to see it end but maybe we’ll see a few of these characters in the future 🤞

✨What to Expect:
☠️Extremely Dark, NOT a Romance
☠️Pitch Black MMC
☠️An er0t1k thriller with romantic elements
☠️MFFFFFF+ traditional harem (and wife)
☠️Gore, torture, NON-con (yes, btn mains)
☠️Spice in almost every chapter (Bee Dee Ess Em)
☠️Age gap (20 years)
☠️90% dirty, 10% plot
☠️Trauma, purchased bride

I’m not gonna lie…I went into this book with a bad attitude….I disliked the MMC before I even picked up the book….all based on the opinion of the characters from the earlier books in the series….in my head Strauss was a super villain & needed to be ended quickly….I didn’t get very far in it before I realized things aren’t always as they seem…maybe the villain really can be the hero…he made me so mad one minute & ugly cry the next….he literally burned the world to the ground for a woman….she was 18 so yes she was a woman
Astrid had lived a ton of life in a short amount of time….who would have thought that Strauss would be her white knight…or that she would save him from himself

This book is part of an interconnected series & does need to be read in order….we see bits & pieces of the main characters from the earlier books in this book…just little blips really but enough to bring the whole story together….& that ending….I never saw it coming…even though this was the series finale I am hoping we get to see more of their lives after the aftermath some time down the road
Do check the content/trigger warnings….Strauss was a walking trigger warning but you learn to love him…eventually

I should’ve knew the last book in this series was going to blow my mind. I highly suggest reading the trigger warnings before entering the House of Strauss. It’s dark, gory with eye brow raising content.

Once I got past chapter one 👀 I was in for an unexpected ride. Kitty has a way of just messing with your mind with her characters because Vincente Strauss is a character I shouldn’t like but do by the end of this story. In the previous books, I knew him to be a very deranged character but after learning who he is and what he went through. I started to feel bad. The man was damaged!!

Now, Astrid, every time she mentioned “him”. My heart crumbled and painful memories came back cuz why, Kitty!? The beginning of her storyline was hard for me. Subjected to marry an evil man and produce an heir all while dealing with his harem of women. The strength she found to survive ☝🏾 Yesss!!! I loved it. She surprised me about 60% in the book. I was NOT expecting that. Talk about sitting up in my seat type excitement 😂

Now, this ending‼️
WTF!
*throws sheets of paper in the air*

Even though this book sent me through a range of emotions. I loved it. It was a wonderful conclusion to an amazing series.

“Just because someone does something noble doesn’t mean they can’t do terrible things, too. People aren’t black and white. Good and evil. Villains or heroes. You can be both all at once.”

“My lust for vengeance vies for vitality and will not sate until devastation envelops all the villains.”

In true Kitty fashion, she had me shocked and gasping in chapter one. I was immediately messaging my book bestie and fellow kïnk queen about how dark and unhinged we were going right from the start! Strauss is one of my favorite MMCs in the Kitty King universe! Astrid was such a badàśș, especially given her young age and past horrors. The character development and overall plot was perfection and I’m honestly shocked at how there was so much story when there was when there was 𝘰𝘩 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘦! Of the chart heat in this one- whew!
This was the perfect end to the series, and I’m so thankful to have been able to ARC read these books, and be a part of this amazing journey!
This is book four of the Compass series and not a standalone. Books 1-3 must be read first.

Rating:🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Spicy:🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

"Just because someone does something noble doesn't mean they can't do terrible things, too. People aren't black and white. Good and evil. Villain's or heroes. You can be both all at once."

It really took me a while to finish, not because I didn't love it. But... Because I knew once it was over that was the END. I can't even put into words the emotional wreck; I am after reading this. Since Beastly Amory, I was like this book was my favorite, then Rawest Venom and I was like ok this is the one and then Southpaw and I was like ok this is my favorite and then there is the LAST and Final book and truth be told. I really can't choose because you can't have one without the other. This book starts with a bang and just keeping going and doesn't stop till the very last word. What can I say about Strauss and Astrid, they are a force to be reckoned with, they love hard and rough but are everything you wanted them to be and more. I'm sad this is over, but everything happened because it was supposed to happened and Gnarled Pines will forever hold a piece of my heart. Kitty, you should be proud of this EPIC, MAGNIFICENT masterpiece of a series and I am so grateful that I was able to be given an opportunity to start and end this series as your ARC reader. THE END!

Perfection. This BOOK. This Series. UT-TER-LY perfect!

There’s so much I want to say, but not a lot that I can without giving away too much. I implore you to check your triggers (and if they pass) dive in head first to this series.

Kitty has a way of writing about topics some may be unsettled about and turning it into something beautiful, heartbreaking or eye opening. It’s truly incredible and leaves me in shock and awe every time.

For the first three books there was only one consistency, I hated…loathed..despised a certain character. After finishing book 4 I don’t think I can say that any longer. This book changed all perspectives I had. It took me on a journey and I was blindly committed while experiencing every emotion possible. This dark romance isn’t just that, it’s so intricate and clever. There’s so much in there to unpack. Some of which won’t happen until you’ve finished and you’re mentally digesting it.

There is a reason Kitty King in an international best seller and I’m completely all in for what’s next.

My Advanced Copy Review (5/5 ⭐️, 4.5/5 🌶️)
As usual with this series, I will keep my review slightly vague. This is the final book in the Compass Series, and it ties this series up with the most perfectly executed story that Kitty has ever written. Reading the other three previous books is essential to the plot, but reading most of the chapters will hook you on the “smexy time,” so definitely read it! The spice was hella CRAZYY but super hot. I was flabbergasted about what was happening and couldn’t put the book down. Lastly, the rollercoaster of emotions I felt while reading solidified why I love it so much.

Thank you to Kitty King for allowing me to read this one early! I am in love with this series and Kitty’s writing. I love love love this one 😍

Okurrrt Kitty King 🔥😏🖤 Definitely will not complain about how you wrapped this series up! I am sad it’s over though - no lie. Spice level 10 and plot level INSANITY (in the best way)! I cannot recommend enough to read in order or you will be lost. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya 😜

Strauss is such a complex character and I knew his would be a story to remember just from glimpses in previous books. From the very first chapter my jaw was dropping. Age gap? “Child” bride? Ummmm YAAAAAS. Not what I expected. LOVE how Astrid is literally the firecracker we didn’t realize was lurking underneath. I felt every single emotion from mad to sad to joyous! Legit the way the story unfolded and the character growth was incredible.

Per usual with my girl Kitty’s books, she does not hold back so pay attention to content warnings. Strauss is a pitch black MMC. I said what I said. Also loved the cameos/interactions from other characters in previous books. Made my heart smile for sure!

Cried so hard

Painful. I’m in so much pain. My heart hurts, my head hurts, and my face hurts from all of the crying I just did! I had previously said halfway through the series that I KNEW Strauss was as going to end up being my favorite and yup I was right. Is this man truly on a whole other level of red flags? 1000% but also like a bull myself, I see a red flag being waved around and I immediately go running full force towards it. Also my sweet angel baby Astrid was my absolute favorite. I’m sorry but you can’t deny that when you met her friends Ted and Fred, you feel this need to protect her at all costs. However maybe in the future I’ll be asking for her protection LOL. Let’s just say be very afraid if you see this girl wielding a sharp object. I just have to say though I am so not ready to say goodbye to this series and I need the cult campus series soooooo much sooner than later.

ABSOLUTELY BREATHE TAKING!!!
This book has to be read in order! So don’t think you can just jump in. Start at the beginning.

Strauss is divine. He is absolutely what I wanted and didn’t even know I wanted it! He is dark, he is what you think is morally pitch black, not to me. He deserved to love and to be loved. To find a peace even if his sins are insurmountable. Astrid is the snake she belongs to. He house sigil is more then just a symbol. She is sly and not what she truly appears. This book is dark. Take triggers seriously and don’t read it if you think you can’t! I was shocked from chapter 1! The way this book progressed and the character development was perfect. I laughed, I cried(ugly tears) and tears of joy. I got sooooo angry. But then it was all worth it. Trust her process and I hope you love these two as much as i do.

I was so hyped up for the final book in the Compass Series, I wasn't sure what to expect or how Kitty would conclude this series. The first chapter immediately drops a shocker. And honestly, the shock and twists didn't stop until I turned the final page.

Strauss is a villain through and through. He is effed up and is not written for you to necessarily like him, let alone love him. But what can I say, I'm gonna fall for the villain every time. The OTT and dramatic nature of Strauss drew me in and by the end, I couldn't let go.

Astrid is a one of a kind force to be reckoned with. This innocent, yet vicious woman handles her business and takes the destruction of her life into her own hands.

Kitty has written such an incredible plot across all 4 of the Compass Series books, and I will be reading them all together soon.

*This is not a standalone. The series must be read in order.*

I love a novel with a good feminine rage scene and this book delivered. Astrid was such a bad ass and I loved when she realized that and started to own it. Strauss was made out to be a villain over previous books but he was just another flawed human being. I love how he allowed Astrid to teach him things and how he grew over the course of the book. I love how Astrid accepted Strauss for what he was and showed him what love actually looked like. It was great to see glimpses of the previous books couples and how they came into play in this story. Of course the spice was from beginning to end with the scenes being different each time. The scenes were explicit and descriptive and sometimes with different pairings/groupings. There was also some death and gore but nothing too in depth or lengthy. I picked this up and didn’t put it down until I was finished with it. I cried for a while at the end but it wasn’t too emotional before that.

The End. Two words that really encapsulate this book. Book 4 in the series, the final book, the ending... It had some big shoes to fill seeing as books 1, 2 and 3 were so intense. I dont think a book series has ever made me cry quite like this one, and none quite like the last 2 in this series - IYKYK.
From the first chapter you are thrown into Strauss' world and you are locked into a rollercoaster you cannot escape from, not that you would want to. If you make it this far into the series you already know Strauss is a f-ed up individual but this book really opens your eyes to all the drama that is going on behind the scenes and why he is the way he is.
Astrid's development throughout this book is maddening, to go from a sweet and innocent little victim to the badass queen she was always meant to be!
