Sadly, this story didn't present any substance that hasn't been done by these authors in the past. And I realized partway through that in many instances, they were missing opportunities to invite readers to be present when the characters made up or when they had a discussion about an important issue.
There was a lot of on-page time talking about what happened and what would happen but then when it was time to resolve whatever the issue was, we readers were bounced to the next day. One example was the mess the couple made of their first Daddy/little day at Parker's house. First of all, the explanation as to why it failed was lame as was Parker's behavior by allowing the day to go sideways at his house. Totally not Daddy behavior, but even overlooking that, both characters had scenes the next day in which they bemoaned the mess they made. Both characters promised to increase communication, and Gordon was going to apologize but suddenly they were back together and we're told they resolved the issue.
IMO, the authors missed many opportunities to make the story more interesting, infuse more dialogue, more together time, more Daddy-little time, just more.
I'm not sure I'll continue if there's more to the series. It's possible the author team has reached the limit of their imagination. If so, that's too bad. But it's better not to push out a sequel than to push out one that's short and missing so much substance.
