I think that was the final straw; the comment on the facebook post. She'd had a happy childhood, hadn't she? She didn't have any unresolved childhood trauma, that she'd somehow repressed, had she?

"She inhaled and opened her eyes. The light of the bathroom shone on the blade, still in her hand, and reflected into her eyes, causing her to nick her fingertip. “Ouch”, she said out loud."

She doesn't know what to do any more. The depression that she fought wit every day was entering her mind, and she recalls how unlucky in love she had been throughout her life. Was she ever going to get her happily ever after?

I was sent this book by the author in exchange for a review.

Blade is a story that follows our main character who is suffering with her mental health & sadly having suicidal thoughts. As someone who suffers with their mental health, I found the short story so relatable. Whilst reading, I found I had so much sympathy & empathy towards our main character, I just wanted to hug her through the screen. My only critiques would be, it would have been nice to have some names for the characters, just to make it more personal & easier to connect with those characters. Also, I felt like the ending was a little rushed. However, overall, I really enjoyed this short read & actually found myself wishing the story was longer so I could learn more about our main character. A fab debut novel which was written really well. I can’t wait to see what this author brings out next!
