The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1884 under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, U.S.A. It is used by Jehovah’s Witnesses to support their worldwide work, which includes publishing Bibles and Bible-based literature.
According to its charter, the corporation’s purposes are “religious, educational, and charitable,” in particular, to “preach and teach the gospel of God’s Kingdom under Christ Jesus.” Membership in the corporation is by invitation only and is not based on how much a person has donated. The corporation members and directors assist the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
I just read highlights from the countries of Sierra Leone and Guinea, and enjoyed the encouraging experiences from around the world.
I always get excited at the end of each year waiting for the new yearbook. It arrived on jw.org website this past week, and what a thrill reading it and all the encouraging experiences of our spiritual Brothers and Sisters throughout the world. Again I was not disappointed. Although sometimes it brought tears to my eyes reading about our friends in the war torn countries, and all they suffered but how brave they were.
It really makes me set back and think about how easy we have it here in the U.S. The bros and sisters in those war torn countries have to leave and move into refuge camps, which I am sure is not an easy thing to do. Just put yourself in their place, to leave everything behind and run for your life across a border to another country or stay and hope for the best. Sometimes it is just heartbreaking. But in the end they rely on Jehovah and come out of the situations happy and alive.
There are also many wonderful experiences of ones who found the truth and how it changed their lives. Some who waited for years before their mates or family members finally embraced the truth, how happy they were. So hang in there and read it to the end.
Yes I agree that some of the statistics, esp. the facts and figures and numerical data can become slow with action, but in the end we come to appreciate how the organization has grown over the last 100 years
If you haven't read it yet I encourage you to read it as soon as possible.
It is part of my iBooks library, and I loved reading it.
Inspiring book about the progress of the preaching work around the world and the growth of Jehovah's organization from the early years in Sierra Leone and Guinea until now despite war and persecution. Without a doubt Jehovah's spirit blessed the faithful brothers and sisters in those countries. The last section of the book talks about the preaching work since the Kingdom was established in 1914. It ends with a bit of a cliff hanger. Notable are the stats. Isaiah prophesied how the little one would become a mighty nation. It is interesting that the Memorial attendance for 2013 was over 19 million. If everyone who attended the Memorial dedicated their lives to serve Jehovah the number of witnesses would be greater than the population of most countries, indeed a mighty nation.
I read this quickly, in just a few days. Not only is this a short book, but its highly engrossing. Reading the trials that effected our Brothers and Sisters in Sierra Leone and Guinea has done much to encourage me and build faith. May Jehovah continue to bless his people throughout the world.
I absolutely love each literature that is released! I always get so excited to know brother's experiences in doing Jehovah's will today. It's everything, it's spiritual vitamins ;')
Really looking forward to the future yearbooks showing the decrease in publishers.
Too bad they only "help" other jehovah's witnesses but what is to be expected of a group that believes 8 billion people will be ruthlessly murdered by a "loving" god at Armageddon. Jwfacts.com
"Stay Alive Til 75" was the slogan voiced in print and from the stage in the years prior to 1975 especially in 1974, now it's 50 years later and still no "Paradise On Earth" as promised by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society. False Prophets! Yes.
The experiences of the friends in both of these culturally rich countries is engrossing and a poignant reminder of the beauty and fortitude of the preaching work. I'd have to say my favorite part is the last three chapters, especially the experience of the sister who is a former Muslim and how she now uses the Bible to reasons with persons in the Muslim field. These are tips that I will definitely implement when I come across those in the Arabic speaking ministry who are of the Islamic faith. It is always so inspiring and encouraging to see how Jehovah's work progresses even under the most adverse and horrific conditions. His word is indeed a sword, sharp, accurate and makes an indelible mark.
I read this in a little over a day and so wish it was longer! I'm not sure there was one experience that didn't captivate me. For every experience I was able to make some sort of personal application. I live in such an easy and developed country that sometimes I forget what all our brothers and sisters are going through in other lands. I am so proud of everyone who has maintained their integrity to Jehovah and so proud to be in a worldwide brotherhood with such ones! This shows me that I can remain faithful despite hard circumstances/ opposition/ governmental bans but only by Jehovah's help.
Smaller than previous years but the information inside is still inspiring whether you are of the faith or not. This year included Sierra Leone and neighbouring Guines. Both countries have seen theor share of tragedy and wars but the faithful folk that reside there have stood as a testament to the pure power of God. Interesting to note (as always for me)the start of the yearbook holds more tidbits about things that have been happening worldwide for JW's - including little old New Zealand :) Another highlight is located at the end of the book - a brief overview of how Bible prophecy has come true through the monstrous year 1914. Very easy to read and intensely inspiring~!
Encouraging, exciting, motivating. I especially liked the bit in the back entitled "1914 - A Hundred Years Ago". The Yearbooks are shorter now than they used to be, which fits with the fast pace of life today. But I miss the detail in the featured country sections. Events that in past years would have made up the bulk of the information are now covered quickly with a few experiences in ten pages or less. Still, these annual publications remain one of my favorite reads of every year.
It was nice, reading about the improved website, JW.org, and the WT online library. I read with interest the part about the special historical Bible exhibit at the Brooklyn HQ, the I was able to make the drive up to Brooklyn so that we could see this wonderful exhibit ourselves. As always, I especially enjoyed the legal report.
LOVED IT SO AMAZING! Really made me think more about how much our brothers and sisters around the world are giving themselves for Jehovah and how we should do more and appreciate our own situations.
