First of all, I want to start by saying the Hyperborea series has blown me away as a whole. If you are looking for something that gives you “Avatar the Last Air Bender” meets “X-Men” vibes in a Young Adult series, then this world is an absolute must read. I loved Hyperborea books 1 & 2 and now finishing part 3, Shattered Soul, has me eager for more! I need book 4! 🙏🏼✨

I am so invested in this series and the characters, that I legitimately dreamed about them in the days I finished reading the last chapters. The Soul Wielders and all their unique powers clashing in battle are written SO well! And the twist betrayals, winding intrigues between factions, the hints at a deeper, darker lore in the world of Hyperborea itself… I don’t want to give too much away but Zolotor really outdid himself in Shattered Soul with the payoffs on all the slow burns and twist reveals he laid the ground work for in the earlier books. My mind is still racing with all the implications for Eos and for the futures of certain favorite characters (I can’t name drop them as it would be a major spoiler).

Some things I will highlight though for those who are familiar with this world: Ares’ story and motivation takes such an expected turn, but I’m so here for it as who doesn’t love a morally-grey bad boy with a soft-side arc. And I was blown away to how the Fracture War on earth gets tied into the newest character the Hyperboreans (Eos and crew) must find/save in Nippon Wa before they fall prey to the Mitad’s machinations. Carnus’ backstory had me so shook that I had to talk to my bestie about it (because we tandem read books). Also Vistomus officially ranks up there with one of the cruelest villains I have ever encountered and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see who would get to finally take him down. 😤💪🏼

Overall this series needs to bag its own live action Netflix or anime deal because it would absolutely blow up on the screen. Until then, I eagerly await book 4! Bravo Zolotor, you keep making bangers and I’m here for them! 💯

Unfortunately not able to finish this book as someone stole our vehicle Sunday after we attended comic con and I saw you and got to see your manga book. I was really in the middle of it where Eos was back on Earth and M attended her first Piori meeting. I do plan to replace it once we replace all missing items we have lost due to the theft. Still hopeful for book four ;)
