'I've Always Loved' is the 2nd part of B.A. McRae's debut novel, 'I've Never Danced.'
Does life wait for you when you've been away for so long, or is catching up where you discover who you truly are?
B.A. McRae crafts stories with a poetic touch and a cinematic feel, creating worlds as vivid as they are intimate. She lives in the cozy tundra of Wisconsin, where she spends her days being groovy with her husband, son, and a strong cup of coffee.
The first book in this series, I've Never Danced, had me so hooked and in love with the characters. I've Always Loved is no different. I was once again sucked into Lucy's world and enjoying her moments with Carder and Sherlock. Her brief moments with Colin reminded me of my relationship with my sister. I found myself once again feeling like I was living these moments with my best friend.
B.A. McRae has a way with words that sucks you in and makes you feel like you are there. Her prose is different, though not in a bad way. Strings of thought from Lucy as she experiences beautiful things, confusing things, terrible things. Lucy feels like one of us in a way that is refreshing and needed. This isn't a cookie-cutter story and it's a book that will forever live in my heart and mind.
There are Trigger Warnings at the start of the book which everyone should take care to understand and read. McRae does a fabulous job navigating tough subjects, and when she goes dark, she goes dark but in a way that feels real and tugs at the heartstrings.
Read B.A. McRae, read I've Always Loved, you won't regret it.
I loved “I’ve Never Danced” the first book in this series. However, “I’ve Always Loved” swept me off my feet.
BA has a gorgeous storyteller voice and a unique writing style that keeps everything fresh and engaging. The characters are quirky and lovable and their development in this installment leaves you: angry, joyful, melancholy and warmed all at once.
The depth of emotion here as Lucy chases ghosts of her past while trying to reconcile her future isn’t harmonious, but life rarely is. The journey is however: raw, honest and charming. These characters will live with me always.
