Bob and the crew found out about some castaways, who seemed to be related to their new friends. What to do but take their friends to rescue their people? Of course, things are never as easy as they seem. Come along and find out what their shepherd has in store.
I’m a house husband. I keep things together while my wonderful wife makes our living. I’ve worked as a machinist, short order cook, electronics assembly tech, and several other jobs. My hobbies include vehicle maintenance, (I’ve had the transmission out of my truck. Twice) free flight airplanes, electronics, and shooting. I was born and raised in the Ozarks, and now live in Mid-Missouri.
When I read this the first time I assumed it would be similar to the others. However, I was disappointed. It left me uncomfortable and a bit confused. So after a week or so I decided to read it again. It is a deeper read than most of the previous books and getting into the underlying theme required more than a simple reading. That being said, I would definitely recommend this story as serious literature and, while not suitable for children as a bedtime story, a good read nonetheless. This story does open some opportunities for the future if we will be privileged to follow Janet and Millie through the academy and into their careers. Perhaps a spinoff series. Good work, Mr. Boyd.
An excellent book to read with a very emotional ending
This is yet again another book that can be recommended to all your friends and family. Unfortunately, it ended before I really thought it would, but, I will still be looking forward to the next exciting adventure of this whole group. A side note, even though very few of them are physically related, they are really not so much a 'group' as they are a family. Yes, some of them ARE robots, and one is an AI, they all love each other and respect each other far more than any group I've ever heard of.
Side question: When do we meet the Cats? You all know who I'm referring to! The personalities who feel THEY are the ones who are realy in charge. :)
Not quite as repetitive as the past dozen or so installments, but it’s getting harder and harder to slog through day after day underway:
Wake to ear lick far too early Grass room w/ Jim Breakfast Morning training Lunch with the women (repeat all that’s happened since breakfast) Afternoon (only time for plot development) Dinner (repeat/ update of day’s events) Child maintenance Grass room w/ Jim (Yet ANOTHER retelling of the day!) Barely-veiled reference to sex with Nikki Ear lick far too early. Rinse, repeat ad nauseam…
Sometimes doing the right thing feels very wrong and final climax to this chain of events draws a tear. The resolution to the major dilemma was satisfying, but exceedingly brief (almost rushed) in the final pages. I hope as I continue in the series a bit more time is devoted to the actual execution of the finale after an overwhelmingly long plan is detailed at every level. Still a very enjoyable adventure to see unfold. Try to avoid jumping into the middle of the series to fully appreciate the dozens of threads all woven into the story.
Bob and his crew sure could teach our Earth a lot!!!
Another great Bob and Nikki tale! This one was harder because of what they found others had done. Of course Bob knew what he had to do to correct what they did but that didn't make it any easier. Seeing how much he and the rest of BSR work to make sure everyone is treated well what had to be done was super hard! This was more emotional 😢 and they had to do what was right even the hard things. Still a great book and I am excited for the next one! Love this series and Jerry Boyd is a great writer!
Once again a book that's mostly repeat. On trip to the grass room to rehash what has already happened after another, followed by going to eat, the gym, office , eat, play with kids, sleep, then back to the grass room to rehash what didn't happen. I swear if you took all the repeated garbage out the book would only be 3-4 chapters. Still not as bad as the two before. Sad to see a good series come to this.
Just when I think these books can't get any better. Mr. Boyd comes out with one that is more awesome than the ones before it. I will be rereading this one again and again. I am so looking forward to the next book. It will be hard to wait for it. However, it will be worth the wait.
Wow, this story was an emotional roller coaster. Bob and the crew were forced into an untenable situation with the mess in the lost colony. Well written description of Bob having to wrestle with his conscious. Looking forward to the next book to see how it resolved.
Another good book in this series, just as fun to read as the previous books. If you enjoy a nice and funny scifi book then this series is well worth reading. Follow the adventures of bob and the crew of bobs saucer repair as they explore the galaxy, always trying to make it a better place.
As always Jerry Boyd entertains well with another installm ent of Bob and Nikki and company...an interesting twitch in the story line and plot. I chance to look at pending AI development and concern through a different lenses is part of the sub plot to all 42 stories. I will keep reading as long as Jerry keeps pushing them out.
I recommend this series, but if you're new to it, then you need to start with book one. The author has a different writing style, no chapter breaks for one example, but it's easy to follow and a fun read it you like snarky, first-contact sci-fi.
I appreciate that protagonists need to eat and have some kind of family life when they are not saving a world, but do we really need so much detail every time, even when nothing has changed?
Even superheroes suffer the occasional setback, but Bob sails through unscathed by any serious drama and the ending is anticlimactic to say the least.
Another entertaining book that just keeps the follow an eccentric storyline that is always involving. I think next book will continue the adventure of Bob & Micro and their family. I recommend this book and author to anybody that enjoys a good story. ☺
It’s intriguing that this series continues to hold my interest and manages to expand its storytelling through the continued development of known characters and the judicious introduction of new characters. Looking forward to the next book.
Seriously, read the series. You won't regret it. These books are funny , intelligent, thoughtful and just great reads. From the very first book till now there isn't a bad book in the bunch.
Sometimes five stars just aren’t enough. Jerry Boyd knocks the ball well out of the park with this instalment of his BSR books. The surprises and tension do not quit, and the ending was perfect.
It's tough to have funny with bad things while keeping the level of empathy and reactions somewhere nearly understandable. This novel managed to succeed without maudlin nor jumps of characters between extremes.
A continuation of the previous book. BSR transports the reptiles to the Dinosaur Planet where the old reptile colony is. Things are not as they seem and Bob tries to help. A great story.
This was a good one with a sad ending that was needed, have the squirrels paid for these crimes? Maybe its to late to make past evil a bit right. "If you go for revenge bring two coffins".
Why document every cup of coffee or tea served? Plus why write about every trip the dog takes to the grass to do it’s business. Why not spend some words on developing the key players.
Seems that Bob and the crew always finds someone who needs his help. His adventures are wonderful reads. Keep up with the good work. Looking forward to the next installment.
Great book as usual. I eagerly wait for the next book. I have gotten my brother and sister in this series and also waiting for the new books to come out. Please keep them coming. Tom Rines
