Adrian's back, and he's pissed! Hell hath no fury like a trinity scorned.
The Trinity is the seventh book in Chris Philbrook's Adrian's Undead Diary series. With this being the second to last installment in the saga, Philbrook takes some time to slow down and let readers smell the roses...or is it the decay?
Like with any sequel, there may be spoilers from the previous books, so if you haven't read them, you may consider stopping here.
This one's a bit different than the others. A traumatic injury puts Adrian out of commission for a good chunk of the book and the spitfire, Abby, picks up his journaling slack. I like Abby; she's one of my favorite characters in the series. Though, at times, she may be written a bit mature for her age in both thought process and the manner in which she speaks. But since I'm completely invested in the AUD series, it's a small incongruous tidbit I can easily overlook.
One of the reasons I hold this series is such high esteem is its realistic writing style. When Adrian writes in Mr. Journal, I believe him. There's no question, at least in this reviewers opinion, that every line from Adrian rings true. (See what I did there?)
Evaluating the complete saga to date, The Trinity is my least favorite. But that should really be put into context...I still enjoyed the read, but some others have resonated more with me. If I had to analyze why, I think it would be a culmination of things. Not enough Adrian-let's face it, he steals the spotlight. And the action was minimal. The Trinity was more reflective, almost setting the tone for the grand finale. Which we really do need, but my personal tastes steer more toward the chaotic frenzy of undead.
That said, The Trinity has left me dying to get to the end. And I just know once I get there, I'll go into withdrawal.
