"Since I was a little girl, all I wanted was my own Prince Charming. My knight in shining armor. Except little did I know… Hayes would be the villain in my fairytale."
This was a good enemies-to-lovers story with a lot of chemistry between the main characters. It is also the first book of a new series, and it nicely sets the stage for the following books. It definitely needed some editing, though.

"There was something animalistic about the way he was looking at me. Almost like a lion before it attacked its prey. Luring me with his devious gaze and sadistic smile."
The book follows Hayes and Haven. Their meet-cute is—different but interesting, and you can see sparks flying from the get-go. He partly owns a bar, and she wants to work there. When he doesn’t allow it, he clearly sees that Haven is not easily deterred, controlled, or forced to do anything she doesn’t want to.
And yes, she gets what she wants in the end.

"Every time I touch you, hear you, or I’m anywhere near you, I want more. I want it all. There’s this pull you have on me and it doesn’t make any fucking sense because we come from two completely different worlds."
This thing between them easily becomes unbearable because they clearly want each other. Hayes’ possessiveness and the way he wanted to protect her did things to me—I absolutely loved him.
I also loved their banter, even though she sometimes crossed the line between being ‘strong’ and was downright bratty/whiny for me. I could almost imagine her stomping her foot like a kid sometimes.
I can’t say I fully enjoyed her character.

"I was blinded by her. Consumed by her. Wrecked by her. She owned each and every part of me, right down to my fucking soul."
I also felt like we needed more character development and less conflict—sometimes it felt like drama was added for the sake of it, only to justify her giving him more lip (hence my bratty/whiny remark above).
Nevertheless, it was fun to see where their road would take them. He tries hard to resist her, but she doesn’t make it easy. I loved that she took it upon herself to drive him insane until she had what she wanted—him.

"I want you to be mine."
I didn’t feel the age gap that much—she’s 18, he’s 25—, it was more about Haven being innocent in so many ways, in direct contrast with Hayes’ past and present life. There’s so much she doesn’t understand, and so much we don’t understand, either; mainly why he tries so hard to stay away.

Don’t worry—it’s all revealed eventually. No spoilers.

"Your body was made for me, Haven. You were made for only me. You’re mine now. You understand me?"
"You promise?"
"I fucking swear."

Through the twists and turns of the story, the only obvious thing is that they’re meant to be. It doesn’t matter that he’s older and more experienced, it doesn’t matter that her (very overprotective) brothers don’t want it to happen, it doesn’t matter that their world comes crashing down when some truths come to light.

I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series. It should be interesting with a big age gap, and also because I have a soft spot for the grumpy ones.

"Fuck, Peach…. It’s me who is on my knees for you."
I loved that they needed to heal and that they get to do it together, and how much they needed each other. It seems love always manages to find a way, enemies or otherwise.

I wanted to like this, really, I did. Conceptually, all the pieces were there for me, and the smut was decent.

But the writing read like a self-insert fanfic from the early aughts (if you know, you know), and was absolutely riddled with typos and misused words. Plus, and maybe I'm just getting old, but a 25 year old dude is never going to be believable as this hardened, bitter business tycoon, let alone make for any kind of salacious age gap. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

There were things I obviously enjoyed and that was the smut and also the obvious sexual tension between Haven's eldest brother and her best friend Cove.
Despite the fact I read this pretty fast I have to say it was not my favorite - obvious by the 3-star rating I gave it - for two reasons:

1) I seriously thought the story would be different?
2) The suspense and the mystery was too obvious for me? I figured it out really early on and it kept getting dragged and then the reveal was forced? Then the conflict being neatly wrapped up by one confession was too easy.

Hayes was an interesting character, he struggled for years with shame and believing things that had happened were his fault. He was hardened by the life he was forced to live as a child watching his father abuse his mother and his mother never leave him.

Haven was.....annoying most of the time. I know she was 18 and still in High School but she just irritated me with how stubborn she was for things that she didn't need to be?

The mystery?
Hayes's mother is the reason Haven, and her mother were in that fatal accident where her mother died. Haven was only 8...why does Hayes believe it was his fault? His mother was driving recklessly to get to him since he had been caught selling narcotics and she ran a red light crashing into the other car where she too died.

Here is the part that bothered me: We find out right after the big reveal about all that, that Hayes's shit of a father CUT THE BREAKS in her car which resulted in the accident because he wanted to get rid of her to have Hayes on his side?

Convenient for the reader and the characters to know it was not an accident but intentional and sadly took more than one life.

Jace (Haven's eldest brother) and Cove’s (Haven's best friend) book is next, and I wonder how that will go, especially with last bit of this book revealed Cove has been taken? I am going to assume her new bf was part of the crew that got arrested at the end and this is revenge?
We know this will be a massive age gap of 20 years or so.

OM Drama: While Haven is trying to get Hayes's attention prior to them getting together she flirts openly with another guy that is at the bar.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: opposite side of the tracks, boss/employee, age-gap
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Haven knows she wants Hayes from the minute she lays eyes on him when he throws her out of his bar for being underage. The youngest of 5 siblings - with 4 older brothers, Haven is used to men trying to strong arm her into doing "what's best for her" and she's done with that. Hayes tries to stay away. Tries his hardest. But his Peach has a mind of her own and after she gets his father to hire her on at the bar, it gets more difficult to deny the connection they have with each other. If only he didn't have to break her heart....

Tempting Enemy totally gave me all the feels. Super fast paced with tons twists, turns, and secrets that kept me with kindle in hand until I was done. The chemistry between them was super hot and I loved the almost "fated" aspect of the two of them. The characters were fantastic. Haven is an awesome, super sassy/kinda bratty good girl over being pushed around by the males in her life. Hayes is the perfect bad boy from the other side of the tracks who is possessive and dominant, but still vulnerable with the feels for this girl. Just a super cute and angsty story. I really can't wait for Jace and Cove's book next!

I am wondering why a best-selling author put out a book with so many errors, using the wrong names, punctuation mistakes and just poor writing. This book was just plain annoying, boring and confusing. I skimmed most of it and felt like they should just get to the point already and quit with the dramatic self-revelations at the end of every chapter. The girl obviously has self-esteem problems to let some guy treat her like crap over and over again and still go back to him, then call it "love". Geez, this is what romance is nowadays? Emotional manipulative abuse is more like it. What a waste of what could have been a good story.

** Beta Read**

Haven and Hayes are match made in emotional h3ll!Author M. Robinson gave Tempting Enemy everything. A perfect tortured broken jealous protective possessive alpha ahole hero. A sweet and sassy heroine with biggest heart. All the epic angst and all the nuclear hot chemistry. The edge of suspense, secrets and twists. The good girl fall for the man from the wrong side of the track not knowing that they are bound by so much more their all consuming love and passion. I couldn't put it down. A must read rec from me.

PS DID I TELL YOU HAVEN HAS SOME HOTTER THAN HELL BROTHERS WHO WILL GET THEIR OWN STORY NEXT?

really hard to like

I love the premise of the book and I was into it at the start. However, the way that each chapter ended with a focus on a dramatic last sentence wore me down quickly. After that I began noticing inconsistencies with character personalities and things that felt they were in there because it’s popular and not because it had to do with furthering the plot. I had to dnf.

English isn't my first language, sorry if you find any mistakes.
Tropes:

- enemies to lovers
- morally grey hero
- age gap
- she works for him
- virgin heroine

I was so excited to read this book because I've already started the Second Chance series by this author and M. Robinson doesn't ever disappoint!

This one has everything you are looking for because Hayes: he is a possessive alphahole with a weak spot for Haven. I also really liked Haven because she is perfect for our hero. She pushes him, but she also understand when Hayes needs time to open up and express his feelings toward her.

“Haven is a sanctuary and you’re definitely hell.”

I wasn't expecting it to be so spicy, but Hayes shocked me in a good way. Haven is a virgin, and I usually don't really like the "virgin heroine" trope, but this one is the exeption because the MMC wasn't creepy about it.

I would say it's a medium paced romance with really great chemistry between the FMC and MMC.
AND I LOVE A BOOK WITH GREAT TEASING BETWEEN THE MAIN CHARACTERS because that's my love language!!

Since this one is the first book in a new series, Haven's brothers are also important characters in the story and I loved them! I can't wait to read the second book in the series because Jace and Cove together are the hottest couple!

PS: the plot twist was unexpected and I want a real Hayes in my life

M. Robinson's earlier books, particularly "Complicate Me" and the Good 'Ol Boys series, had thick character and plot development. It's what made me follow her as an author on both Amazon and Goodreads. However, everything she wrote since her REALLY, REALLY, REALLY awful 'Second Chance' books, and whatever that horrific 'romantic comedy' she tried writing was, has been sloppy, lazy, cliche, one dimensional, silly, and OVER THE TOP. There's no build up or development of the characters, in this book. It's just an amalgamation of every bad freelance romance book you've read in the past 10 years. If you honor your free time and want to enjoy relaxing with a good book, SKIP THIS. I always knew I'd encounter some bad writing on my Kindle, but never did I think...

IT WOULD BE FROM M. ROBINSON.

(You're welcome for that shout out to her stupid obsession with ending each chapter with an ellipsis followed by an overly dramatic - but totally obvious - 'revelation').

Haven has one goal and she will do anything for it. Even tempting Hayes.

Haven comes from a big family with 5 protective older bothers, whom are by the way very intriguing. Hayes is a bar owner and a complete opposite of Haven. And yet it clicks.

“𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥.”

The attraction between Haven and Hayes was there from the start. Hayes immediately protected her and tried to push her away. But Haven is a kickass heroine and goes for what she wants. And she wants Hayes.

The moments between these two were real, intimate and showed their connection. I read this in one sitting. The length of the chapters also made this an easy read.

I am so excited to read about the next couple, Haven's older brother Jace and Cove. A big age gap, sister's best friend and enemies to lovers -> Yes please.

M. Robinson's Tempting Enemy is the first book in her new series, and I devoured it. It was packed with; so many emotions, loss, love, sexual tension, and Hayes' dirty talk was filthy; I loved it.

These two had an instant connection, and Haven knew right from the start at the bar that she wanted this man, and nothing would stand in her way.

𝒮𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒻𝒾𝓇𝓈𝓉 𝓌𝑜𝓂𝒶𝓃 𝓌𝒽𝑜 𝒽𝒶𝒹 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓅𝑜𝓌𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝑜 𝓂𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝓂𝑒 𝓁𝑜𝓈𝑒 𝓂𝓎𝓈𝑒𝓁𝒻.

Haven was such a strong girl, having gone through something traumatic at an early age, but she was tough because she had a great dad and five strong, tough, loving brothers. I loved their family dynamic.

𝒴𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒷𝑜𝒹𝓎 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝓂𝒶𝒹𝑒 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝓂𝑒, 𝐻𝒶𝓋𝑒𝓃. 𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝓌𝑒𝓇𝑒 𝓂𝒶𝒹𝑒 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝑜𝓃𝓁𝓎 𝓂𝑒. 𝒴𝑜𝓊'𝓇𝑒 𝓂𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝓃𝑜𝓌.

Hayes was perfection; he was; also dealing with the past and had some secrets, but deep down, he was good-hearted, sexy AF, and secretly loved the h#ll out of Haven. I love how he cared for her in his own way. He didn't always go about things the best way, but it was the only way he knew how to protect her. This man is the perfect book boyfriend!!

𝐼 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝒷𝓁𝒾𝓃𝒹𝑒𝒹 𝒷𝓎 𝒽𝑒𝓇. 𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓈𝓊𝓂𝑒𝒹 𝒷𝓎 𝒽𝑒𝓇. 𝒲𝓇𝑒𝒸𝓀𝑒𝒹 𝒷𝓎 𝒽𝑒𝓇. 𝒮𝒽𝑒 𝑜𝓌𝓃𝑒𝒹 𝑒𝒶𝒸𝒽 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎 𝓅𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝑜𝒻 𝓂𝑒, 𝓇𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝒹𝑜𝓌𝓃 𝓉𝑜 𝓂𝓎 𝒻*𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓈𝑜𝓊𝓁. 𝐼 𝓁𝑜𝓋𝑒𝒹 𝒽𝑒𝓇.

Hayes and Haven needed each other to heal, and they deserved a happily ever after.

It was a great start to the series, and I can't wait to read Perfect Enemy!!

This story stole my breaths , & my heartbeats ……. And my sleep . I went to bed at bedtime, but I couldn’t stay there , I had to get up to finish the book ……. I was as hooked.

Hayes and Haven’s story tore at every emotion .
Their battle with loss was hard on both of them , but with guilt added on to his grief , Hayes’ life was dark ……………..
Until Haven , and she had enough fight for the both of them .

Can love stay , even when truths are revealed ?
Love is love , it always finds a way ….. especially with the help angels looking down .

Such an outstanding must read

ARC Review of Tempting Enemy by M. Robinson
* * * * *
A steamy read where our strong badass heroine goes after what she wants...and that is her older boss with a dirty mouth and dark secrets.

Haven has been raised in a loving household by her father and five older brothers - all alpha males and protective. She adores them, but she wants her independance and seriously needs a job to save up for her trip overseas. One trip to a bar a week before her eighteenth birthday caused some drama but created an oppurtunity - and she now has her sights on a job...and the owner.
Hayes wants her gone.
She shouldn't be here.
Haven is too pure and young to be working in his bar, around depraved men and wearing skirts that short. She's trouble. She's fiery. She's stubborn. She's too beautiful for her own good. No matter how hard he fights it and tells her to walk away, he wants her close. He's become as protective as the family in her life, but craves her like any other man.
Haven is pushing for answers. Pushing for more. She's open to her love for him, but he's reluctant.
Afraid.
Something lingers in his past that will break all they have begun to build. Not to forget their own family struggles presently that threaten to tear them apart.
What will hurt them first?

Loved the drama. Loved the hotness.
Big fan of this author's Second Chance romance novels and it is a really different change in characters as the heroine is the one pushing the relationship and the male protagonist is against it. Really enjoyed the banter between Haven and Chase as their attraction and aggression pushed and shoved. Plus, I can't blame Hayes for his growling at Haven whenever she rocks up to work in her cheer outfit. Naughty school girl and cheerleader fantasty standing right before him is a hard thing to fight!
Already loving the other characters and who is going to have their own story. Haven's dad is awesome! So supportive!

Tempting Enemy is a promising new series by the fantastic M. Robinson. Teenage Haven is looking for a job away from her protective family to meet her personal goal in time for graduation and what better place to be hired than the biker bat outside of town run by the handsome Hayes. Immediately, the sparks fly between these two, but Hayes refuses to give into Haven's requests so easily setting them on a path of enemies for a time. Despite pushing her away at every turn, he refuses to let other men near and protects her every chance he gets. The only thing he can't protect her from is himself and the dark secrets he's holding onto. I thought this was a great start to the series! Haven is determined and headstrong but shows a lot of heart and compassion. Meanwhile, Hayes I'd protective and sees only Haven when she steps into his life despite the consequences. Words can't describe how stinking excited I am for Cove and Jace's story, haven's brother, because they give off real heavy enemies vibes. Overall, I'm already hooked into the Beckham family and can't wait to see what happens next!

I devoured Tempting Enemy! This book was so easy to get tangled up in! I loved both MCs from the beginning! Hayes is a rough and rugged club owner and completely calm with a gun pointed to someone’s head. Haven is cheer captain and too precious for his world. She wants in but he can’t let her. Their lives are too different. Despite everything, they are drawn to each other. There’s tension between them thick enough to choke on 🤭 Something connects them more than Haven knows though…

This book is such an emotional read for me! I was giddy, I shuddered, I was crying my eyes out, I was mad, I was all over the place! Just know that I was extremely invested in this story! The banter and their push and pull, it was just what I wanted!

I loved how Haven fought for her independence and to make the choices she wanted fur he life regardless of what her older brothers wanted. She was strong willed and never backed down from a challenge, even if that challenge was Hayes.

Hayes. Wow. I’m obsessed. He was protective but layered, deep is where he buried all his emotions. Haven forces him to se how much he wants her and she doesn’t let him intimidate her. I could not get enough of how affectionate he was with “Peach”! He does everything he can to keep Haven safe from his life and his family. Yes, he can be sweet but when he was… 🥵 spicy!!!! We was SPICY! Demanding and insatiable, Hayes was never opposed to throwing Haven over his shoulder and letting her know who was in charge.

They call M Robinson the Queen of Angst 🖤 A crown well deserved! I recommend this book and am fully committed for the full series now! Read this book if you love angst-filled spicy romance books!

This is book one of the “Beckham Dynasty” and can be read as a stand alone. But once you read it you will be wanting more of the Beckham boys!!

Two souls who find each other despite the odds. 7 year difference in age will not stop this love story. A deadly biker crew can not even damper the flames. Get ready for a ride!!

I LOVE many series by this author. She knows how to write a bad ass alpha male and a bad ass heroine. This book was no different. I loved the two main characters. I hadn’t really read the blurb and I realized quickly this is setting up to a series. And let me say I am super excited to read more about the Beckham brothers. Also I love me some Cove, she is the fun bestie!!

As much as I love this story there were a lot of inconsistencies and edit issues. I did get an ARC so that is usually the draft before final edit so I am used to it. But this had a lot of errors in which made you confused in the story. But with that said it was sexy, heart breaking, funny and good. Though it is a pretty good story I will, also, say it kind of felt just like other work I had read of hers. But I am sure the next book will be amazing!!

**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest opinion**

This book was terrific and definitely the start of a different series compared to the Second Chances series.

Haven Beckham is the youngest of six and the only girl. And with the death of her mom, she lives a very sheltered life. Her secret job at a biker bar earns her quick cash and the notice of many unsavory characters. Until her boss steps in.

Hayes has lived through so much trauma and wants to protect Haven, even if it’s from himself. The push and pull of these two is so much fun. Haven just loves to taunt her boss. Haven is as headstrong as she is naive, and is quite a handful for Hayes.

They both have their secrets, but their chemistry is amazing. You can always count on Robinson to write the best dirty talking alphas! But I loved it best when we get to see the softer side of Hayes.

How the story wraps up is AMAZING and totally unpredictable. Loved this one and cannot wait to read about Haven’s brother, Jace, and her best friend, Cove, in the next book!!

While I really enjoyed this one, it loses half a star because the editing was done soooo badly! I mean I didn’t imagine the FMC being called to different names right?!
The premise of the book I rather enjoyed and finished it in one sitting! I loved that the FMC wasn’t a pushover and held her own!
Book does end on a cliffhanger.

This was such a breezy audiobook and would recommend it to anyone who wanted something easy to listen to whilst keeping busy.

The story itself was fine, I think the plot was sad yet bitter sweet but overall it had some good moments. The main characters were easy to like compared to most of the side characters who were annoying.

I did think that it had some decent humour throughout it which the narrators did in the perfect smartarse tone much like the below which gave me a good chuckle!

Well holy sinful hotness this book took me by complete surprise! M. Robinson sure as heck knows how to start a new series with a BANG!

Haven and Hayes story for me was more than anything I could imagine! I want to be completely transparent and say that I almost stopped reading. I know I know WHAT!? But yes at the start I was a little struck by some of the events. But I know that this author loves to surprise and thank my lucky book stars because I was correct. Robinson socked me with a straight punch to the gut and as the shirt evolved I knew I needed to keep reading! I started this book when I woke up this morning and didn’t stop till the very last word!

Hayes is unlike any of Robinsons hero’s! He’s a mix though of all my faves and whether you’re new to her books or an OG you will find something in this book to become obsessed with!

The first book in a new series starts off with Haven and Hayes and what a great book to start with. Haven has a plan to earn some money and that brings her into bar owner Hayes orbit. There is an air of mystery and danger to Hayes throughout the storyline. Hayes is the definition of tortured hero, a damaged man with a chequered past meets a sweet sassy but determined Haven. There is the angst that I have been missing in more recent books and I enjoyed that mixed with the sexual chemistry. The mysterious connection they have is slowly revealed and even though I did guess part of it I did enjoy the way it all unfolded. I liked the secondary characters and I'm looking forward to the all the brothers getting their own books.

What a perfectly angst ridden emotional roller coaster. Haven had such a fun strong fiery spirit and Hayes was the alpha I crave. Their story was perfectly woven and packed in a light hearted spirit , so many emotions, and some fiery steam. This book came together perfectly and I am so sad it is over already Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book with Jace

I was not prepared for how emotional this book was! Chapter 35 had me IN TEARS😭😭😭 This book was raw, full of emotions and sexy as hell. Hayes and Haven had major chemistry and I enjoyed every bit of their story.

“Haven Beckham was made for me. End. Of. Story.”

“Your body was made for me, Haven. You were made for only me. You’re mine now. You understand me?”

Haven was so fierce, I instantly fell in love with her. She was stubborn and determined enough to get through Hayes' cold heart and make it melt for her. There is a twist in this book that you will no see coming and it will break you

I loved every character in this book and can't wait to get to know them better in the upcoming books!! Another heart wrenching angsty book from the Queen M!!!

I can't anymore 🥴

The beginning kind of remind me of "El Diablo" but I didn't connect with the characters or the story at all. And the writing was kind of boring too. . .

Thank you, next.

This book starts with the angst and keeps you intrigued from page one.
There is so much suspense and angst but love and intimacy in this book.
If you're new to M.Robinson you'll definitely want to read this. If you're a fan of M. Robinson you already know she's the queen of angst and she definitely brings it in this enemy/biker romance.
