Pruning, Training, and Tidying: Bob's Basics

Rate this book
What sets Bob Flowerdew’s
Pruning, Training, and Tidying
apart from other books on
the subject is that it does not
advise pruning every single
plant in your garden. Rather,
as Flowerdew puts it, this
guide explains the simplest
basics of pruning, and how to
get admirable results without
obsessing over the growing
pattern of every plant. Whatever
you are growing, and
whatever your garden looks
like, Pruning, Training, and
Tidying
will help you to keep
your garden beautiful and
functional.

Short and to the point, it touches all of the basics of pruning flowers, fruit trees and ornamental trees in the garden. I learned about 5 key things, was reinforced on some previously good pruning habits, but walked away with a kind of empty , vague feeling about this book.
I think that if I want to see a better picture of how to prune a certain kind of plant or tree, I will be turning to YouTube.

Short and to the point. It will definitely get you through the basics but if you need specifics for individual plants (spoiler: you eventually will), this isn't going to be much help.

Concise, chatty and helpful. Much like having a quick word with Bob himself. Particularly good on training. Handy book to fall back on :-)
