Hyung-Tae Kim is perhaps the best-known Korean game developer -- even if his name isn't known by all, his art is very recognizable, as seen in the later entries to the War of Genesis series, and Magna Carta for PC and PlayStation 2 and its sequel on the Xbox 360. His style exaggerates the female, while also promoting the masculine. His characters straddle the line between Japanese minimal lines and Western emphasis on musculature and detail.

I've always enjoyed Hyung-Tae Kim's manhwa-style character designs and purchased Oxide 2X when it came out. He did the character art for the War of Genesis III and Magna Carta characters, and even though some of the female character designs can be a bit risque, I still enjoy Hyung-Tae Kim's works.

War of Genesis III is my favorite, which is a shame since it was never ported to the US. When I was younger, I had a bit of a crush on Saladin (Yes, I know he's a fictional character, but I'm weird and it didn't stop me). I also liked Albatini de Medich and Christina. They were a cute couple. I also did not find Sherazard as annoying as many did and actually kind of liked her. Ran was also kind of cute, but I kind of wanted to pop the character with a fly-swatter, even though he was not quite as aggravating as Albatini's brother Christian, and later, Ashurei, who were both creepy little dudes. I like the Moebius Loop-esque plot to the story as well as the artist's character designs. Most of the art is from Part 2, so people looking for the Shivan Scimitar characters will be disappointed, as most of the art is from Beramode and company in Part 2.

The artist also did the character designs for Magna Carta (Tears of Blood/Crimson Stigmata). Whereas I liked the characters (though Calintz'a fashion sense is a bit questionable) and their design, the story was not quite as unique as War of Genesis III. I think I enjoyed the designs for the Yason characters the most. On the brighter side, Magna Carta was ported to the US.

Fans of either games or manhwa-style artists will probably enjoy this book, but the import fees can be rather high, since I could not find a domestic seller. A definite five-star art book for fans of either series or Hyung-Tae Kim!
