Bryk will need to pull out every Crakairian trick he can think of to win her heart.
Can two very different souls find love with each other on a planet far from Earth?
AVA ROSS fell for men with unusual features when she first watched Star Wars, where alien creatures have gone mainstream. She lives in New England with her husband (who is sadly not an alien, though he is still cute in his own way), her kids, and assorted pets, including a yorkie pup and three cats.
Two broken souls who long for a family find each other across the galaxy.. 4.5 stars!
Another fabulous alien rom-com by Ava Ross! One of my favorite things about Ava's writing is how she capitalizes on the differences between alien and human culture with humor and ease. She also highlights just how nonsensical the English language is, while making a giant green alien appear endearing yet unerringly cocky. Males will be males on any planet, I suppose. Another great read, and I am thoroughly looking forward to Jorg's story next! ♡
Loved Sadie and Bryk! Great chemistry! Hot sexy action! FMC was much stronger than Evie from book one which was a great change up. Villain was better established in this book making a stronger connection for me as a whole. Bryk did not let me down he was phenomenal! Lots of cute sass and miscommunications throughout which gave me a giggle at times making this read so much more enjoyable.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙💜❤️🩷🤎 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏 Character development: 🤓😀😘🤩 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Sadie - she is a human woman from Earth, and she lost her husband when a virus went through the galaxy. The same virus that killed of most of the human males also killed the females on the planet Crakair. Recently the Crakair males made a deal with Earth for technology and in exchange they opened an agency to send brides from Earth to Crakair. The brides are matched with a male from Crakair and when they arrive on the planet they have ten days to decide whether to stay or they can return to Earth. Sadie’s friend Evie had already gone to Crakair and is happy with her mate, she bet Sadie that she couldn’t do the same and that was the reason Sadie signed up for the service.
The Heroes:Bryk - He lost his wife and the mother of his son Weld from the virus. They were not a love match, but they had cared for each other, and he mourned her loss. He was a space fleet commander prior to the death of his wife, but since she died, he resigned his commission and became a farmer to raise his son, who is eight yaros, and a very smart kid who is adept at fixing engines and other machines.
The Story: Sadie had first seen a video of Bryk, when they were matched and thought he was kind of small and thin for a male Crakairan, as most were very tall and well muscled. So, when she arrived on the planet and didn’t see him, she was bereft. Though a very tall and muscular male came up to her and immediately some sort of golden tattoo appeared on their palms, she was surprised when he threw her over his shoulder and took off for the space port entrance. Luckily her friend Evie was there and stopped him and introduced him as Bryk. She wasn’t exactly sure why he looked nothing like his video, but she was willing to give the whole experience a try for the ten days.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and this one was just as good. The world building is much better than many alien romance books. The technology and settings are well defined and especially the descriptions of the alien foods and beasts. I thought it was funny how the translators had to get used to each of their speech patterns before they worked fully. So, at the start, Sadie would hear Bryk’s sentences kind of like the way Yoda talks, with the first part of the sentence at the end.
This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in dual narration by Teddy Hamilton and Tawnia Murray. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite male narrators and he always does a terrific job. He is one of my go-to narrators. Tawnia Murray is not one of my favorites, though she is not bad and has a pleasant voice.
It was fine. A little more exciting towards the end, otherwise pretty low angsty. The story needed a bit more character development and less dependence on the screwed up English sayings. But it’s ok.
There’s something so cozy about these stories. I can’t seem to get enough of them. I was throughly entertained. Narration was much better for this story.
Vork's friend (and the dude who always has his back), Bryk has entered the Selection and now has Evie's BFF as his intended. Things move quickly for Bryk and Sadie. As in, they do the matebond lightshow thing with their hands after their first meeting. Which is good, but also a little scary for two people who have both lost their significant others in the past.
But what the matebond wants, the matebond gets. Or something like that. Let's just say that these two dive into courting (bypassing a few of the courting signposts along the way), have fun in the wilderness, and get embroiled in a kidnapping attempt. The good news? All the danger and excitement cement their bond in the best possible way.
This was so entertaining. I liked the way they got to know each other while “courting” although they get VERY friendly. They go camping and it’s a great way to learn about the planet and some of the culture in an interesting way. Sadie embraces the adventure. I love the way Sadie proves to be kick ass.
I was gifted a copy of Bryk by Ava the author, all thoughts are completely my own
Bryk is a widowed father just looking for companionship and a mother to love his 8 year old son Weld. Sadie is a widow who applied to be a human bride for a alien on a dare. This book is a standalone alien romance (but also works with a series) with no cheating and a guaranteed happy ending.
If you like aliens (I'm talking aliens who actually look alien. Green, extra appendages, tails ect), fierce women, sexy fun times and humor then this may be for you!
After the death of her husband Sadie gets talked into becoming a mail order bride to Bryk. She's not sure that she'll stay after the trail period but as soon as they meet it's instant attraction and Bryk knows he has found his mate. I loved the detailed descriptions of the food, plants, and animals on Bryk's planet.

Wow! Just gets better and better. A gorgeous hunk and his son, kidnapped by aliens and rescued but also links the the previous books with a hea ending. A must read. Book 3 here we come!
this is a new author for me i absolutely loved this book and the story line. what a fantastic concept and the world the author created is amazingly descriptive, u can see it in your mind the characters are wonderfully developed. this story has suspence, wonder, love, romance, thrills, danger, and she shows the point of view of both characters extremely well. i couldn't put this book down. highly recommend this book and i can't wait to read more in this series.

Can the next book be out now?!?!? I love this series. It is unique and the author has created a world that just keeps expanding but never gets overpowering in the story. It is more natural and fluid. The characters were fantastic. Sadie was great she starts out unsure but quickly goes after what she wants. I want more stories with them.

BRYK is the second insta-lust Science Fiction Romance novel in Ava Ross’s humorous Mail-Order Brides of Crakair series. I’ve really enjoyed the series so far. One thing that I absolutely adore about these books is how Ross has handled the language translation issue. It’s funny and can even be charming. Another thing that I like about this series is that each book stands alone. Both of the main characters were introduced in the previous book but you don’t need to have read that story to know what’s happening in this one. Of course if you read/listen to them in order it will enhance your experience. Still another great thing that I’ve noticed by reading/listening to this series is that Ross creates characters that are likable. The reader can get easily invested in them and the story.
While the plot of BRYK was predictable it was filled with all sorts of fun stuff. We had flirty banter between the couple as well as some He-Man tactics. There were also sexy times and some action. The attraction between the MCs was undeniable. Bryk was a great guy who only wanted what was best for Sadie. Even if it lead him to make stupid choices. Sadie on the other hand showed that despite their size differences (😉 cute story involving Bryk’s son on this subject) she had the strength to handle both the new world she was on and to open herself up to another person again. Or in this case two people since she was getting both a husband and son in this deal.
Here’s where I feel the need to say what I found disappointing about this book. What mainly bothers me is that there were a few scenes where Bryk’s son is adamant that Bryk work out a relationship with Sadie. However we only really get one scene with him and her. I would have somehow liked to have gotten at least one other bonding moment/scene between potential stepmother and stepson. I was also felt let down by predictability of the plot. I immediately knew what the main conflict was going to be when the villain was first introduced.
Teddy Hamilton and Tawnia Murray both did fabulous jobs with the story. I really took pleasure in their performances. Although in truth I do wish that both of the narrators had put more effort into differentiating the different male and female secondary characters with voice changes. However I was pleased that Bryk’s son got his own voice.
Mail-Order Brides of Crakair #1 VORK find my review HERE
ugh....I was so hoping it would be better than the first. It started to go south with yet again another over the top bizarre restaurant scene followed by never ending details.....I lost interest and fast forwarded stopping right at another over the top ‘coincidence’ of Chugge. Make it stop please..
Book 0 - two novellas that talk about what happened during the first batch of matched couples (from Earth and Crakair). It was steamy (of course) and funny especially during physical exploration of the two species.
Book 1 - Vork and Evie's story was longer. It showed the culture of the Crakairs living in the capital city. It also showed conflicts within its political realm, though it was not really that detailed. Not all Crakairns accepted the presence of the Earth females in their planet/culture. It showed how 'vengeance' was done during conflicting parties. It was more on the elite side of the planet.
Book 2, THIS BOOK - Bryk and Saddie's story. This showed the other side of the planet, away from the city. Bryk, a retired fleet commander, became a farmer after his mate died from the disease which ravaged many galaxies.
A widow from Earth matched with the widower (and a single dad) from Crakair.
The story showed the wild side of the planet and its inhabitants. Both MCs did not expect love match in this but more of a companionship. They did not expect that they were bonded from the moment they touched - it was shown on their hands. Bryk tried his best to fulfill the courtship while Saddie tried her best to cooperate, even when they went to a wild paradise.
I really like Saddie because though everything was new, she did not back down any challenges. Though there were times that she was afraid , she was not crippled by these negative events hence she became stronger. She also proved to Bryk that she was willing to stay on the planet with him by showing him her strength, even when she was a small female from Earth
Bryk was lovable in his own ways. He taught Saddie about the place he grew up in - the wilderness. He taught her about its nature and Saddie picked up immediately, which became useful in the following scenarios. He was a loving father and a loyal friend (from Book 1).
"If telling you I love you is wrong on Crakair, I'm not going to apologize." Her hand pressed against her chest. "What I feel needs to be spoken, not hidden away because I'm worried I'll be hurt. I've been there. Done that. So there. If you don't want me. If you would rather I not tell you how I feel, well, then you can say so. But I'm not taking back my words."
The book also introduced a new conflict. Among the planets and moons in various galaxies, only Crakair contacted the Earth about this match. Crakair planet has three moons, one of it has a government which was like ruled by pirates. It was shown in Book 0, Axil's story, what happened in that place. In this one, the blue-skinned aliens from that moon were kidnapping women in Crakair to be sold as breeders to others. It is hinted in this book that there would be more possible scenarios with this in the future books.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read although, like Book 1, proof reading would be better. I look forward to reading more.
My review is not for intelligent discussion. It's what I felt/thought while reading the book. For 2021, I would rate the book this way: 1 - DNF'ed 2 - does not exist 3 - did not like 4 - it was okay 5 - I like it / I enjoy reading it (but it doesn't mean I recommend it)
After finishing the first book just a few hours ago, I had such high hopes for this story. I loved the idea of this father, wanting companionship and a mother for his child, trying to woo her into staying. And I loved Sadie from the first book, I thought she was going to make an awesome lead character.
But alas, I'm afraid this story just kind of fell short for me...
I don't know if maybe my expectations were just really high after the first story but I found myself skimming the first 70% of it. The beginning held such promise, when she is saying goodbye to her sister and promising to give Bryk a chance. But then she gets there and I just didn't know what to think. She didn't want him, but she wanted him, wanted to skip straight to the good bits (wink wink), but then it was just a one night stand, even though it wouldn't be... It was kind of frustrating seeing what was going on in her head.
Bryk was a good character and his son was adorable! For the little bit of time we got to see him. I was honestly hoping that he would have played a bigger role in the story. I understand why he didn't, with the plot being what it was, but I was a little disappointed in that.
The entire book though was the two of them exploring each other, being together and living it up domestic style. It's not bad by any means but when you read about the same thing over and over for a couple it get's rather boring. Maybe a little mundane?
When shit hits the fan, at the 75-80% mark or so, is when I finally got back into the story. It was livened up a bit and that made for a much more entertaining read. Overall, this wasn't my favorite installment in the series but I am really holding out hope for the next book! From what I've seen so far, Jorg is going to be quite intense.
"Tutto di lui la affascinava. Così diverso all'esterno, eppure così simile a lei all'interno.
I enjoyed Bryk and Sadies story. I was looking forward to this one and was wondering how it would be handled and I wasn’t disappointed. I’m glad the drama wasn’t too drawn out. I’m glad Bryk wasn’t too stupid in his handling of his mate. For some reason these warriors lose their minds and stop thinking rationally when it comes to their mates safety. I’m very happy we got to see a little bit more of Julia and Axil and Vork and Evie. Evie and Sadie had a nice little reunion and I was looking forward to that. I am looking forward to Jorg’s book but I know it’s going to be filled with more action and drama and I’m kinda of geared more towards to romance and courting aspect of things. I guess we will see how it’s handled and where the author takes us because it looks like from here on out every book is an abduction 😔😩 so I hope it’s not overly insane where we don’t get any couples time. I did love Sadie’s personality immensely. She was definitely my type of woman. She was very straight forward, affectionate and loving. She was also not afraid to stake her claim, take what she wants and be demanding in her love making and courtship. This 🐻 finds that so attractive and hubba hubba 🥴😈. By the end of the book she was definitely born again hard. Little Weld also warmed my heart. I wanted more page time between Sadie and Weld. Especially the surprise she owed him. I’m hopeful that next book he sees his gift and we have more family time with them. Considering who Jorg’s match is I am hoping my wish comes true. This book was filled with some sorrowful moments and very touching moments. Moments filled with loss and tragedy and of healing and moving forward. It was also filled with new life and new beginnings. I enjoyed this book. Definitely 5 meteors from me. ☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️
A year ago, Sadie lost her husband in the plague that swept the galaxy. Bryk's partner died in a similar fashion and he's been left to raise their son alone. Now that they've got a second chance at love thanks to the matchmaking program, they're both giving the relationship all they've got. For Bryk, this means taking Sadie into the wilds of Crakair to court her in the tradition manner of his people. It would be easy for Sadie to turn her nose up at some of the more bizarre Crakairian customs, but instead she's willing to try everything at least once. Things seem to be running smoothly between the two of them, but just who is this other male who's got his eyes on Sadie?
It was actually sort of a nice change of pace in this genre that both the H and the h were equally willing to enter into a partnership when there was a fated mates situation. Everything moved a bit fast for Sadie in the beginning, but Bryk was quick to course correct and let her set the speed. At one point, he tried to pull the you're-better-off-without-me card, but Sadie totally called him out on how stupid his logic was. I can't stand when simple miscommunications are used to ratchet up the drama.
VORK focused on Crakair city life, but BRYK took the characters back to nature. It was a nice way to expand the scope of the world and introduce some interesting new concepts. I have to commend the author for her imagination in regard to the abilities of certain native fauna. There's set-up for the next book in the series and it sounds as if it will be quite the adventure.

After losing her husband in a galaxy-wide plague, Sadie doesn’t want to risk her heart getting broken again. Fortunately she agrees to sign up for the Extraterrestrial Matchmaking Service, and she's paired with Bryk, a seven foot tall, scaled alien. Bryk had likewise lost his own mate to the plague and is raising a son alone. As soon as they touched, a symbol appeared on her palm which Bryk identified as the matebond, indicating that she is his destined mate. His matebond also reacts. They are perfect for each other, but is she still too frightened to take that chance?
With Sadie’s doubts, Bryk is determined to convince her of their love and make her see that he can be trusted. She gives him a short time limit to make her want to stay. Can he succeed? Will he win her heart?
It’s personally frustrating to me when people think that because they had love once and he died, in this case of a plague, therefore they can never love again! There is so much love and it’s healing and beautiful when it’s with the right one – and with a matebond, I think that’s an ironclad guarantee. So why was she puttering around with doubts? Go for it, girl! Anyway, that has nothing to do with the review, just one of those things that sets me off. The story line is good and the characters, when over being “wishy-washy”, were likable. Grab your copy and see how their story turns out!
4&1\2terrific 🌟's for book 2 of the Crakair mail order brides.💖

Well Evie found her true love with Vork but Sadie is just looking for company someone to share parts of her life with and share some sexy moments with. She doesn't believe she could ever find love again. She lost her high school sweetheart to the virus and she thought the romantic part of her life was over until she met Bryk. When these two set eyes on each other sparks fly hot and wild. Bryk changes his mind completely and decides he will do what ever be can to make Sadie his. He wants her to stay forever and be his forever love. The story is a get to know you , seduction and love story. It also unveils a plot by other races to kidnap human woman and sell them in the black market as breeders. It so much fun and just a good read I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series. 💖💖💖💖💖
Bryk, an ex military Crakair male, now a farmer with his son, gets his matched mate from Earth.
He's only hoping for someone to care for, even without a mate bond, so he never expects the mate mark/mate bond to hit them the minute they touch. Sadie is flabbergasted when it happens and Beyond immediately tosses her on his shoulder. He's late to meet her, luckily her friend who had been chosen by the Prince was there to keep her company, but another alien, a four armed blue male, keep staring at her, so she was more nervous than she needed to have been, then this happens. They have an almost instant craving for each other and he takes her out to eat, inside the meal, then to his home, where she meets his lovely son, the little stinker that had altered his fathers video welcome so she wouldn't be afraid of Bryk because he was so huge compared to Earth males. Their seven day courtship , alone in the mountains, is interesting and sexy, but ends with her getting kidnapped by a group of the blue aliens, rescued by Bryk and a huge wild animal he had raised and let go free, and finally returned to Bryk's farm, on Dragon back. Interesting and a bit funny, with lots of steamy hot scenes.
I adore these books. Fans of Laurann Dohner will be all over them.
Bryk and his son Weld are looking for a woman. Don't be crass. They want a wife and mother to make their house a home. But poor Sadie, because the Crakiars are cray cray and the Crakian world is even further insane.
This book isn't as good as Vork or Axil. I guess Bryk and Disty the draquier don't do it for me. However, this book introduces so much more of this world. Ava Ross builds on the Crakiar planet, moons, and denizens, filling out everything she's introduced before. It's fascinating.
One of the things I really love is she checks in with past characters, and we find out how Julia and Axil are doing, Gaje and Thea, and Vork and Evie, even how the cat and brindle get a spotlight.
Bryk also introduces us to the two main characters of the next book Jorg and Lily--two broken souls looking for redemption. Rom-com redemption. Let's see how Ava Ross puts the next book together.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.
I did not enjoy this book as much as Vork. The story line was made fun and humorous by the malfunctioning translators, but the characters did not fit as well as the other couples. Bryk is a single father and is looking for companionship and a mother for his son Weld. Sadie is a widowed after she lost her husband and her friend Evie talked her into giving love a second chance. I found Sadie not as open minded to Bryk’s culture as he was to hers and I think that was where they don’t fit.
Overall characters were well developed and the chemistry intense and hot and the compromising between the cultures mostly on Bryk’s part and his change of mind when he meets Sadie and feels the bond was sweet and endearing. While Bryk courts Evie she is kidnapped to be sold and that opens up a new underlying plot.
The author’s imagination and descriptions create a whole new world for the reader, complete with fauna, flora, moons and other cultures. Good Read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
