My name is Lizzie Connelly, and I have it all. The gorgeous apartment. The new job most women would rip out their own souls for—working for Margaret Emerson at Emerson & Taylor. ❞The truth is rarely pure and never simple❞
- Oscar Wilde -

What a pleasant surprise!

Uncoverd is about Gemma. She lost her father at the young age of nine and her mother only a few years later, at the age of sixteen. Struggling to make a living, since her father left all his money and his company to his third wife, her world is turned upside down when she receives an anonymous phone call.

Everything you know about your story
—your father’s story—
is a lie.
It’s up to you to uncover everything

Eager to find out the truth, she decides to sneak into her fathers company under a false name and starts working for the "enemy". But it's not that easy...especially when you start falling for your hot & sexy, cocky "stepbrother" ...*sigh*

I really enjoyed this story. It was suspenseful, steamy and had some very likeable MC's. I'm also really looking forward to Pen's story, Gemma's best friend!

5 Mr. Sex-In-A-Business-Suit loving stars

It's like Devil Wears Prada meets Clue with Eye Candy aka Oliver

Book Boyfriend: Oliver Manning (or should I say MANLY) aka Mr. Sex-In-A-Business-Suit

Female Main Character: Gemma Emerson AKA Lizzie Connelley

Villain: Mrs. Emerson

Steam Level: not as steamy as Olivia Cunning but definitely some hot sex scene. Ohh but the sexual tension my god it was hot.

Recommend: To anyone who likes a little mystery and few twist and some Hot sexual tension.

I was very very very pleased with this book. All of the Characters played a hand in the plot. The twist were great and always had me second guessing. It was fresh and new with a combination of so many things. There was mystery with out being overly annoying. The characters where all likable and developed. Most of what I thought happened but some of the stuff that happened I didn't see and I was surprised. Really good read. It was hard for me put this book down. Omg and Oliver is so hot. The sex scenes and sexual tension was so great. The mystery twist and characters were the best part.

READ IT NOW!!!!!!!!

Emily Snow gets better and better with each book and I LOVED Uncovered! There was mystery, suspense, intrigue and love - I was captivated from page 1 to the very end. Complete with mind blowing sex and characters we come to know and love, this is Emily Snow at her finest since Devoured and I was blown away.

What I loved SO MUCH about this book is that it was a complete story, so yes it is on the longer side of what you normally expect from Ms. Snow but I appreciated that I was able to get all of the information all at once and finish the book knowing the outcome. Would I have wanted more?? Hell yes, she knows how I love epilogues and to know what happens after The End.

I won't tell you more about the story other than what is in the synopsis as you should go into this not knowing anything so you can try to solve the mystery on your own - I will tell you that there are twists and turns that were completely unexpected and I love that Emily took a step out of her norm to write suspense because it was captivating and entertaining and different - that's the key with so many books releasing daily. The ones that are different are the ones that stay with you and Uncovered will definitely do just that.

I have met a new leading man in Emily's repertoire of hot men and I adored Oliver, he is sexy, possessive, confident and above all kind...you will fall in love with him too I promise!

Give Uncovered a try - you will not be disappointed!

Sinopsis

Part contemporary erotic romance, part mystery, then revenge-redemption story, this is a great story and is wonderfully written! I became a fan of author Emily Snow in one book!

Gemma Emerson is a phone sex worker, part time escort in Las Vegas (hardly anything is written about these jobs of hers) when she gets a disturbing phone call that sets her world on a different axis. A disembodied, unrecognized male voice tells her that all was not as it seemed with her father's death many years ago, and that she should investigate if he really left her mother and her Nothing in his will. Her father had been a powerful executive and owned a Fashion Publishing company or some such in Los Angeles. Her beautiful mother had been a young Ukrainian model when she met the man who hired her for an advertisement many years previous, and then had divorced her, leaving Gemma and her mother with enough, but then he suddenly died after having married wife #3, her stepmother, Margaret who had assumed the reins at his company, moved into his mansion in Bel Aire, and of course, inherited everything.

Gemma has a wonderfully supportive best friend named Penelope/Pen, and also Pen's brother Lincoln, a law enforcement officer, who have been like family since she was left all alone after her mother suddenly died in a tragic accident. Pen works as a hacker and has mad skills in high tech wizardry, and Pen hacks into Emerson &Co in L.A., sets up a resume and awesome references for Gemma's alias, a Lizzie Connelly, so that she is hired as Margaret Emerson's Personal Assistant at the company. On a quest and with a job, she embarks on a highly personal quest to find answers. Pen decides to come along for the ride, as she can work remotely anyway.

Los Angeles is wonderfully familiar but at the same time anxiety-inducing with her fake name, identity and secret mission. The first day, she meets a co-worker at the elevator who befriends her and then at the HR office, she glimpses the back of a man who she met just once ago at her father's funeral...one Oliver Manning, her older stepbrother. When he turns around he pierces her with his bright blue gaze and checks her out...simmer...

I loved this forbidden romance and it had quite a bit of steamy erotic tension! Oliver has a tense relationship with his mother and he has made something of himself although he gets more attention from the press he generates for the beautiful women-of-the-moment he always seems to have on his arm. Oliver and "Lizzie" have an instantaneous attraction to each other, but Lizzie is scared off from Oliver by none other than her boss and his mother, not that it makes a bit of difference to him. Oliver has many likeable and redeeming qualities and Pen calls him "Mr. Sex-in-a-Suit" and it causes "Lizzie" palpitations every time he speaks to her.

Oliver is quite a dirty talker and Lizzie is a bit caught in his thrall! There isn't any point in a romance between them, and a huge potential downside so she resists and resists.

The unfolding of the mystery was suspenseful and there were some plot twists! A whole cast of interesting characters was introduced.

I loved this and want to read more by this author!

Review by Lisa Kane

Gemma Emerson is a phone sex operator/escort, not exactly living the glamorous life but it pays the bills. Her mother died when she was 16, her parents divorced before that and he married again. For the third time. To a living, breathing bitch, Margaret. When her father died, he left everything to his new wife. Gemma was only 16 at the time, contacted her stepmother and was told by Michael Scott, her attorney that she was to have no contact with her again. Suing would be a waste of time, the will was airtight. Gemma lived the next few years under the radar, hoping social services would not find out she was underage and alone.

Gemma receives a mysterious call baiting her about her father's death and her supposed nonchalant attitude about being cut off from his will. She gets nowhere trying to find out who this mystery person is, but traces the call back to Emerson & Taylor, the company her father owned, now being run by Margaret Emerson, the evil stepmother.

With help from her best friend Pen, a computer hacker/genius, she gets herself employed as Margaret's assistant, under the guise of her new identity-Lizzie Connelly. She figures she can find out exactly what happened to her father and if a heart attack really killed him. She has a run in with Oliver, Margaret's son on her first visit to the company. He comes on to her, she's attracted, but she realizes this guy is her step brother!

Little by little, "Lizzie" begins to uncover inconsistencies in Margaret's handling of the company. The further she digs, the more lies she finds. The more she sees of Oliver, the more involved she is getting with him. These two are like a pair of matches and lighter fluid together. Gemma doesn't want to fall for him, she knows she will hurt him in the end, and he seems to be innocent of his mother's wrong doing. When the truth comes out, will he hate her?

This latest release from Emily Snow is a romantic suspense. The reader become a sleuth right along with Gemma, trying to sift through all the clues and figuring out who the players are. Margaret is no fool, and she is not to be underestimated. I thought I had figured out most of the character's roles, but there was one that surprised me at the end. Oliver is a reformed player, who is really a nice guy. It's obvious he adores "Lizzie" and there is no doubt that the truth is going to knock this guy for a loop. Whether their relationship can survive this kind of deception....you'll just have to read the story to find out.

It was boring. The back and forth between Lizzy and Oliver got old really quick. He wants her, she resists him. Same old, same old. I just didn't see the attraction between these two. She's jealous of all his beautiful ex-girlfriends and he can't get her out of his head. Why? We don't really know. Or do we? It's because he's so beautiful, and rich, and tall and sexy. And she smells good and is sexy and attractive and he just has to have her. But.. just for one night. Really that's all he wants. A long night, but only a night nonetheless.

Wow, that's so romantic. Not!

And that's my main problem here. Totally no romance to find. Lizzy wants to uncover the secret of her dead father. And Oliver, well I don't really know what he wants. As a main male character he's lacking. EVERYTHING. He's boring, crude, stalkerish and obsessive. I don't like that man. He's a really dull character.

Don't get me started on her "hacker" friend. She was evasive, had secrets and got on my nerves. I can't stand "friends" who tell their friend to sleep with someone. OMG. Just let her be and let her make her decision herself. (I never had such friends who suggested I should sleep with someone, just because he's hot. Is this thing normal? Does it exist in the real world? If so, I'm glad I was spared of this experience.)

I just want to know what happened to Lizzy's father, why he divorced his mother and why Lizzy didn't get anything from him. (But this is not realistic at all. Every child gets to have a percentage of the inheritance, even when not mentioned in the will. So that seemed a little bit far fetched to me.)

So I skipped from the middle to the end, so I could uncover this "truth".

But that's just my humble opinion. At the moment such little things seem to unnerve me, and I just don't have the nerve for those. Now I'm off to my next reading adventure.

Where do I even start? I love, love, love this book! I love Gemma’s personality - she’s so take no s***, Pen is so awesome, and Oliver…oh Oliver. He is exactly what a book boyfriend should be. He’s so different from Lucas, but it works oh so well. The book had me swooning and awwing and yelling and I wanted to throw my computer a few times too. I was fist pumping the air at times and sighing with satisfaction at others.

Emily knows exactly what to write to draw you into her worlds and make the characters REAL. Gemma is the girl I want to be my new BFF and Oliver is my new go to for book boyfriends. And her villains? Man, the ones in this book give Sam a real run for her money! Pick this one up - you won't be disappointed!

Review to come...damn, this book was good. Well-written and had me completely engrossed...stay tuned!

**FULL REVIEW**

“Everything you’ve been told about your story, your father’s story, is a lie. It’s up to you to uncover the truth.”

Well, if that doesn’t grab you from the very beginning…

Months go by after that phone call and Gemma just can’t stand it any longer. She has to find out a few things:

1. Who made that mysterious phone call?
2. Why?
3. What is real story behind the message?

The only way to find out anything at all is to become someone else. Create a façade, penetrate the fortress that is disguised as one of the biggest fashion companies in LA. Gemma needs answers. What she didn’t count on was coming face to face with her past and finding out more than just what happened to her father…

“Uncover, expose, and get the hell out of there,” I whispered. And though my brown and amber eyes were bloodshot from crying, the terror that was there my first day at Emerson & Taylor was mixed with something new. Determination. Anger.”

I think this the first book I’ve read by this author. It was definitely a book I would recommend! Emily Snow has created a story that you can truly devour…in just one sitting. I loved Gemma and Oliver, the thought of their relationship was not something I would have picked up, and it was hot. Margaret is the perfect name for her wicked Step-Mother…and the role is portrayed perfectly from the dialog to the way she snaps her fingers. This book plays more like a movie than words on a page, this story comes to life from the very first chapter…no bathroom breaks, no food, water, or anything else until the end credits. I loved it.

Emily Snow does it again. She is a wonderful author. I always enjoy her books.

This one is about a young woman who lost her mother and was on her own since she was 16. Her name is Gemma. She met two people who became her family Pen and Linc. I did not get the storyline about her being into phone sex or an escort. I don't think that was needed. I know the reason why - the link was strategically placed so the plot would line up but I think she could have been something other than what she was portrayed as in this context. She was a good girl. This just makes her out to be something totally out of her element. It seems sort of contradictory to who she is as a character. My thoughts....

Back to the main plot - one day Gemma gets a phone call and it suggested that her father who had died of a heart attack and the will he left behind might not necessarily be all it was portrayed as being. Gemma decides to investigate along with her friend Pen. In the meanwhile she meets Oliver. Oliver and her have a history which he does not know about and well let's just say the sparks fly between these two.

I did not want to put the book down. It kept me intrigued and I was hoping that Gemma would get her resolution and Margaret would face what was coming to her.

Emily completely kicked butt with Uncovered. I was pulled in from line one of the prologue; where we find out everything our heroine thought she knew about her past was a lie. From that point on Uncovered is a fast paced (not rushed)story filled with secrets, mystery and a fantastically toe curling romance between our hero and heroine! I loved Lizzy, she was incredibly strong and independent and she made Oliver work for her affections. She didn't fall all over him like every other female did. Oliver is definitely on my list of book boyfriends, after getting to know him I realized I judged him unfairly. He was not the kind of guy I thought he'd be. He was decent and kind, cocky, but not the typical rich playboy jerk I perceived him to be. *Whispers* I found I loved Oliver more than Lucas Wolfe. Uncovered is an exciting, heart racing read from start to finish!

Loved. It.

Gemma is a girl whose life was turned upside by the unfortunate deaths of not only her beloved Mother at the age of 15, but her father as well. Little did she know, not all is as it appears to be.

Oliver is a sexy man. I mean, there isn't really any other way to describe him other than just pure sex on legs.

I don't truly know how to offer this book a great review without delivering some form of spoilers to the plate and let's face it, I truly hate offering spoilers up for review.

Ugh, let's just say, if you skip this book, shame on you. It's a definitely a great, great read. Trust you me. ;)

I enjoyed this book.
It had some suspence and mystery to it along with a good romance story.
Nothing majorly dramatic or angstful, you do not get the feeling that you are going to get a heartattack because of it.
I thought the story in itself was good and the idea behind it and I was very excited to see how this would all turn out in the end, when everything would be uncovered.

Seriously something must be wrong lately with my receptors in the brain or I just suck at reading between the lines. So this review is all about reading between the lines!

To start with, I found the following description intriguing:

My name is Lizzie Connelly, and I have it all. The gorgeous apartment. The new job most women would rip out their own souls for—working for Margaret Emerson at Emerson & Taylor. I have one of those lives you’ve always dreamt about, the kind you only see on HBO. But, the thing is, that life is a lie. A façade.

It all started with one call. “Everything you know about your story—your father’s story—is a lie. It’s up to you to uncover everything.” One call, and I turned my world upside down to dig my way into Margaret’s life—the woman who I’d never laid eyes on until recently. My stepmother who took everything after my father died fourteen years ago.

The plan was simple—figure out what role she played in my father’s death and expose her to the world.

But here’s another thing: simplicity doesn’t exist, and my plans are flawed from the beginning because I never anticipated Oliver. Sexy, too smart for his own goddamn good, and infuriating, he’s the one person who could blow my plans to uncover Margaret. She’s his mother, and in another life, that would have made him my stepbrother.

I want to pretend that none of that matters, that I can simply finish what I came to do without sparing him a second glance and another thought.

Like I said, though, there’s no such thing as simplicity.

My real name is Gemma Emerson.

And this is my story.

If I would have been able to read between the lines I would have read the following instead of this horrible book:

My name is Lizzie Connelly, and I have it all. Well true she has a Prada bag on which she brags a lot in the book. The gorgeous apartment. And Victoria’s Secret seamless underwear and Joe’s jeans … yes we get that stop showing off. The new job most women would rip out their own souls for—working for Margaret Emerson at Emerson & Taylor. Sounds a bit like the Devil wears Prada? Just cross the bit – it is! I have one of those lives you’ve always dreamt about, the kind you only see on HBO. Please just stop copying the Devil wars Prada. But, the thing is, that life is a lie. Nah your life is just bad fiction. A façade. … full of clichés.

It all started with one call. “Everything you know about your story—your father’s story—is a lie. It’s up to you to uncover everything.” Yes that happened in the book. Right at the beginning when the story was still interesting. One call, and I turned my world upside down to dig my way into Margaret’s life—the woman who I’d never laid eyes on until recently. Aka the Devil wars Prada boss. My stepmother who took everything after my father died fourteen years ago. Oh I don’t even want to start with comparisons here.

The plan was simple—figure out what role she played in my father’s death and expose her to the world. Simple. Easy. That’s what I do every second Thursday.

But here’s another thing (another?): simplicity doesn’t exist, and my plans are flawed from the beginning because I never anticipated Oliver. Well I did anticipate it, it is a romance novel after all. Sexy, too smart for his own goddamn good (who wants to read about a dumb stinking guy with a bear belly anyway?) and infuriating (yeah but not in a good way rather in a I knock you over and drag you in my cave uggah uggah I am the alpha male), he’s the one person who could blow my plans to uncover Margaret (you did not have a plan you stupid girl to begin with).

She’s his mother, and in another life, that would have made him my stepbrother. Well she married your dad so technically he is your stepbrother…

I want to pretend that none of that matters, that I can simply finish what I came to do without sparing him a second glance and another thought. Rrrrright, so you end up sleeping with your stepbrother (in this very world not in another where he still would be your stepbrother). The very same guy that bagged more girls than you see bags at an end of season sale! Without. A. Condom. For the next book – since brand names are apparently important – try those: Durex, Trojan, Beyond Seven, Blausiegel (for the German readers).

Like I said, though, there’s no such thing as simplicity (or decent writing in this case).

My real name is Gemma Emerson. Whatever! You had unprotected sex with this douchebag of stepbrother.

And this is my story. Which no one should bother reading.

Melanie's 5-MIND BLOWING Stars Review:

You know that you've just finished a damn good book when your heart is hammering out of your chest because you are so ridiculously excited to write a review about it so you can share with the rest of the world just how much you LOVED it; yet at the same time you are left grieving because now the whole experience is over… You all know what I mean? Well, yeah… That’s pretty much my story after reading Emily Snow’s latest release, Uncovered.

This was the kind of book that I wanted to unread so that I could reread. I painfully forced myself to read as slowly as possible so I could stretch out this incredible feeling I was experiencing during the entire time I picked up Uncovered. Emily Snow has written one of the best books I have ever read. Gemma’s and Oliver’s story had all of the “it” factors for me. And though it may not be one of those high emotional impact stories, their story brought so much life out of me. I was under Emily Snow’s spell from beginning to end. BEGINNING TO END!
Gemma Emerson never once annoyed me and I swear, 90% of heroines though I may have loved, at one point or another annoyed me during some part in the book. But this one, this one didn't have me feeling that way AT ALL. Her character, though a bit ironic from the plot, is actually incredibly genuine. She is beautiful without trying, uncommonly loyal, and determined. She wasn't in the least bit flighty and my gosh I loved that. I loved everything about her.

I must warn you now… The swoon factor behind Oliver Manning should be a crime. He now sits atop my TOP five book boyfriends EVER. He is everything an author could ever dream of developing and every reader’s wet dream after reading of him and making him come to life in their imaginations. Though his physicality is deliciously dangerous, the sort that leaves a trail of women pining over him, his charisma is really what won me over. Oliver is protective without it ever crossing the freakish stalker line, he is sensual & virile—I could smell the masculinity oozing out of the pages of my e-reader. I was utterly intoxicated by him.

What I really loved about Gemma and Oliver’s chemistry was that it wasn't an all-out sexfest all the time. Emily Snow did an incredible job teasing her readers with the electric sexual tension between them. Their interaction was foreplay at its best. She lead you to become so taut from all the close calls and the dirty, sensual admissions that came out of Oliver and Gemma’s mouth that when it finally happens, you can literally feel the explosion within them. It was a crashing, all-consuming connection that was so unbelievably executed by the author.

Uncovered not only gave us a love story but a big part of it was the mystery and the suspense behind Gemma’s secret. If you are all familiar with my reviews, these sorts of story lines ALWAYS worries me and I do shy away from these types of books. Though there have been a couple who have done these plots justice. Emily Snow’s Uncovered, has by far blown anything else out of the water. There was nothing tacky or unbelievable about it that would leave you pursing your lips and shaking your head in disbelief… She didn't overtly try to sell you with theatrics. The story line just ebbed freely and it naturally did tie everything back together. This was provocative, romantic, and mysterious. All three colliding together in the most superb way, it’ll leave you seeing stars and feeling it in your skin to your bones. Emily Snow hit it right out of the park.

I have a MASSIVE, MASSIVE book hang over and I honestly don’t know what to do with myself… Do I re-read?? Do I try and find a book to help replace the grief I’m feeling because of the finality of that last page??

Uncovered really did a number on me and I am thoroughly thankful for all these unexpected feelings that this book evoked out of me. I love loving books, I love reading, I love blogging, and I am a proud book nerd… I am reminded of these affirmations because of books like this.
I cannot recommend this book enough and there’s nothing left to say but, please… READ IT NOW!

Emily Snow is one of my go-to authors, I will read anything and everything she writes! "Uncovered" proves to be another excellent book by Emily Snow.

Book Description:

Sexy, too smart for his own good, and infuriating, he’s the one person who could blow my plans to uncover Margaret.

This story is a romance and mystery all in one. With steamy anticipation and satisfying intimate scenes, I love the story between Oliver and Lizze/Gemma. I think Emily Snow kept this story fresh by adding elements that are unique in today's romance formula. Adding the mystery and the second identity was a refreshing twist that is much needed among authors and readers alike.

If you love romance and mystery, as I do, "Uncovered" offers the perfect balance that will have you guessing until the end.

This was definitely a twist on the rich, man whore story line.

It starts off with a mystery of what really happened to Gemma's father 14 years ago. Gemma receives an anonymous call that tells her there may be more to her father's death then him just having a heart attack. With nothing to lose, Gemma, with a little help from her friend Pen, moves to L.A. to get closer to her father's widow and find out if there is any truth to what the anonymous caller said.

From there the story takes on "The Devil Wears Prada" feel. Gemma's stepmother, Margaret, happens to be the head of a fashion company (that use to belong to Gemma's father) and Gemma becomes her secretary under a new name. Since Margaret hasn't seen Gemma since she was a little girl, Margaret doesn't have a clue that her new secretary, Lizzie, is really her dead husband's daughter.

Then there is the romance side of this story! Oliver is Margaret's son who Gemma has always found attractive, but getting involved with him could blow her cover and distract her from getting the answers that she needs for closure. With Oliver's persistence and good looks, how could one resist this sex-in-a-suit!

The story wasn't to bad and it was an easy read. I just wish the story didn't end so abruptly. I did get my answers of what happened to Gemma's dad, but I wanted to know what ended up happening to his company and what would happen with Mason. I guess what I'm saying is that I wish there was an epilogue!

Hopefully there'll be updates on Gemma and Oliver in Penelope's story.
