This book was a great crash course on the life and work of Picasso. When I go to a museum I love being able to look at a work of art and say that's a Monet or that's a Caravaggio and this book really helped me become more familiar with Picasso's work. And I didn't realize that Picasso didn't die until I was 2, so his work is really more contemporary than other artists I have read about.

Tagad varu apgalvot, ka viņa māksla man vairs nav tik miglaina, taču vēl joprojām nevaru teikt, ka tā man ir mīļa.
___

Autores vienkāršā veidā izklāsta mākslinieka dzīvi un daiļradi. Viņas atsevišķi apraksta dažādus Pikaso dzīves posmus:

Agrīnie gadi - tēvs gleznotājs, pamanot dēla talantu, palīdzeja viņam to attīstīt.

I have owned this book for many years but never actually read it. It was bought, as a companion to a book on Dali, to mark a visit to Harrods.

It gives a good overview of Picasso’s life and work. I particularly enjoyed the additional timelines showing what was happening in the world during every stage of the artist’s life and how that affected his work.

Excellent, especially Picasso's writings. And his art varies so widely: I'm truly only drawn to a few pieces--several sketches and Guernica, but the emotions they evoke are span the range from comfort and safety in my own body to rage and despair.

This little book takes you through all the important moments in the art and life of Picasso. It is very nicely structured and tell you all the information you need on a starting level at the very least.

Pablo Picasso: Vida e Obra
autoras: Elke Linda Buchholz e Beate Zimmermann

The writer Elke Linda Buchholz’’s and Beate Zimmerman’s illustrated biography of Pablo Picasso was published in 1999. The book is a beautiful introduction to the “Life and Work” of Pablo Picasso. “Life and Work” is the book's subtitle. The book is part of the Art in Focus series. The book was translated from German into English by Christine Shuttleworth with the help of the firm named Goodfellow & Egan. Michelangelo lived between 1881 to 1973. Each of this short book's ten chapters begins with a timeline of events in Picasso's life and events in the World’s history during his lifetime. The book is only 91 pages, but the book covers a great deal of ground. The book does an excellent job of describing why Picasso’s work is significant. Picasso had a long, long artistic career covering many different genres. Picasso was a public artist from 1896 until his death (Buchholz, Zimmerman, & Shuttlework 10). The book discusses Picasso’s troubled relationship with his “Wives and Lovers” (Buchholz, Zimmerman, & Shuttlework 86-87). The book's audience is a general reader, so the book probably portrays Picasso’s relationship with women in a too positive light (Terol 2022). The book includes a glossary of terms used in the text. The book has large print text and is very readable. The book is a beautiful introduction to the “Life and Work” of Pablo Picasso.
