Mallory Cywinski is an author of literary horror and weird girl fiction. Her writing is evocative, emotionally strange, and dark, though she loves a hard-won happy ending.
Her years as a bookseller and time directing a small indie press, producing her own titles—writing, editing, and cover design included—strengthened her knowledge of the publishing industry before returning full-time to her own writing. She writes for the reader who always gravitates toward the strange corners of the bookstore.
Mallory is a mom of 2, lives near Philadelphia, PA, (Go Phillies!), and has a soft spot for well-made mushroom pizza.
✨Initial Reaction: I really liked January, February, and March. I actually read this book for March's book by Blake Gallows and I was surprised how much darker it is then her other series "The Moon Raven Trilogy", and I LOVED IT!
✨Final Reaction: January - Whiskey Lemonade by Karly Latham - Meet cute (again), friend's brother February - The Time of Her Life by Cassie Durand - human/nonhuman, inanimate object, DP, TP March - Flames of Betrayal by Blake Gallows - dark, violence, killing, honestly here for it, the couple having sex on top of the person they just killed together? Hot. April - Love at Home Plate by Mallory Cywinski - Old flame, single dad May - Substitutions & Exclusions May Apply by Dakota Cockaday - human/nonhuman, chase scene, kidnapping (planned) and humor June - Sparks of Love by Marie Gordon - human/nonhuman, stranded on island, HEA July - Uninvited Guest by Bizzy Blank - Really didn't understand this story (people wear wristbands that say whether or not they want to ‘play’ or ‘serve’ and who can touch them, Girl’s partner works there and gets real upset when she finds out she’s there. Grabs her and pulls her into the laundry room. They do it, and she leaves) ?? August - The Green Room by Betty Drillser - Poly, Why Choose September - Making Waves by Tati Diaz - human/nonhuman, mermaid, HEA October - Half Asleep and Darkly Dreaming by Mae Dexter - Super Super Confusing... Married couple, maybe marriage of convenience?, he can't sleep in her bed, gets drunk and fucks her in his dreams November - Enamored with the Invisible Man by Ivanna Schloppykoch - Scientific couple, experiment gone wrong December - Quiet by Millie M - Another confusing story about two people of a throuple fucking quietly in bed besides their partner 💖Quotes “I’m going to enjoy it when every inch of you smells like me.” “I asked you to take a bite because the food is fresh … and because once we start, I can’t promise we’ll be done any time soon. Eat, Princess, so that I can eat you.” “If I had a mate as beautiful as you, I would feed her the best fish every day. I would make sure that she had everything she needed, and I would never harm her. I would love her, care for her, she would want for nothing … and my need for her would never be satisfied.” His voice sounded strong, and I could tell he was telling the truth, not just saying what he thought I wanted to hear. His use of the word ‘mate’ was interesting. I couldn’t think of anyone ever using that in place of ‘husband’ or ‘wife.’"
As the title says! Even though there’s a lot of spice the writers know how to write it in a way that doesn’t make it a trashy novel! Scary and sexy my favorite combo!
This is such a unique collection of stories. When the anthology curators give their content warning on the first page, it’s clear that they’ve held nothing back. They’ve allowed every author’s choice of sexual expression to come through. And truth be told, that was my favorite part of the book. With every new story, I had no idea what kind of spicy content I was getting into and that made it all the more interesting and delicious! Highly recommend for all smut veterans and the smut curious alike. Indulge in these excellently crafted stories!
